I am trying to use some older products as talk is beginning about the next Annual Catalog. I know we will be losing some awesome stamp sets. So I am working my way back through some sets. Today’s card is a carry over set from the Holiday Catalog, First Frost.
First Frost, 148420
I love using stamp sets that have versatility. This set was in the Holiday Catalog, but obviously has other uses than the winter holidays. I have paired it with the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper from Sale-A-Bration. I love this paper because of the black and white on the opposite side from the butterflies.
Another product I do not use often enough is the Tailored Tag Punch. I really like the versatility of it. It is a tad larger than some of the others, so it holds a bit larger stamped sentiment. Also, it is very easy to cut a background for it due to the straight sides. Here I just secured a little bit larger Basic Black piece of card stock and used my paper snips to cut the edge. Easy Peasy!!

I am sharing a special birthday card I made for a wonderful friend the other day. It was her 60th birthday. I had seen a similar card recently and thought it would be a great time to try it. I will definitely be using this fold again soon.
Share What You Love DSP, 146926
I will say that after I took this photo I decided it needed a little more of something! You know what I mean?? So I added a little white bow to the left of the 6. That was just enough.
The numbers are retired, and I really hate that! They are the Large Number Dies and are much needed to make so many specific projects.
And here is the opening.
The card is all DSP measuring 5 1/2 X 8 1/2. Fold and burnish at 4 1/4, then cut 1″ off the front right edge. For the closure flap (what the 60 is on), I cut two of the ovals and adhered them together with a 1″ X 2″ strip of DSP in between. The 1″ piece cut from the front section is now added to the inside edge of the card with the flap strip underneath it. This cut off piece serves two purposes, It breaks up the pattern on the inside of the card, and covers the strip section of the flap for a more finished look.
The inside is the opposite side of the DSP from the flowers. In case you are not familiar with this DSP, it is the thickness of the Thick Whisper White and Thick Very Vanilla. It is perfect for showing off both sides of this beautiful paper. The writing area is a 2 1/2 X 4 1/2 piece of Whisper White. It still gives plenty of room to write your message and wish Happy Birthday.

I have a card to share today that is pretty much an “any occasion” type card. It was really quick and easy to make. And it is almost a one stamp set card. At the last minute I decided to use a background stamp instead fo leaving the card base plain. Either would work wonderfully.
Incredible Like You, 148708
I love the sentiment, “You Are amazing”. Anyone would love to receive a card with that as the sentiment. I know I would. It may not show well in the photo, but the ends of the sentiment are torn instead of cut. It looks very nice in person but may not show well in the photo. I have been into “tearing” this week. Remember my card from Tuesday? LOL!
Other than the sentiment, the stamps are all from the Incredible Like You stamp set. I have a tip for you in stamping the flower. Normally I stamp the solid image first and then the definition image second. With the photopolymer stamps lining these two step images up is a piece of cake. Until I tried this very light color of Blushing Bride!! I could not really see the solid stamped image. So I tried it in reverse and stamped the dark definition stamp first. That worked amazingly! All I had to do was line up the bottom of the stamp and it was perfect. Please keep that little tip in your tool bag when using a very light color.
I found another unexpected result with the Granny Apple Green stamping. I stamped the stripes in Granny Apple Green and looked for a different green for the leaves I wanted to add to the flowers. None seemed to work without really standing out. So I tried the Granny Apple again and stamped off once . It was perfect. Well, actually it would have been perfect had I stamped the leaves full strength and the stripes lighter I think. Regardless, I was pleased with the result. It is the exact tone of color and shows up surprisingly well without contrasting with the stripes. Who Knew???
The background is made using the Crackle Paint background stamp. I love the look this gives. Background Stamps are so unique and give such different looks depending on the ink you use. I love using the same Ink as Card stock, like I did today. But I also like just using Versamark to do a light image. Although Versamark leaves a darker image on very light card stock. Another of those anomolies!

This adorable bunny brings a smile to my face every time I look at it. The artists at Stampin’ Up! were perfect on drawing this little guy. I thought of him on an Easter card from the beginning. I have that card to share with you today. However by changing the sentiment, this would be a really cute baby card or just a Spring card.

I think the Basket Weave Embossing Folder is a perfect pairing with the cute rabbit for Easter. I was sort of surprised as I was putting the card together that I had chosen all the pieces with texture to them. My subconscious is better than I am!
I used a variety of products on this card and they are all listed at the bottom of the page. The only thing to make note of is that I added the pearl on top of the little Frosted Flower Embellishment. I believe I copied Julie DiMatteo on that. I love it. Then I noticed in my photo that it seems to have moved over just a tad. I did not have time to retake the picture. Oops!

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s March Blog Hop! This year’s Blog Hop themes are inspired by a single word – and this month our projects are centered around GREEN. We are excited to share our creations with you today. There’s a wonderful variety of styles and occasions celebrated in this hop! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.
For my take on our Hop Theme, I took the name seriously!!! I went with GREEN, GREEN, and more GREEN. It is nice to get outside of your normal comfort zone. I hope you like it.
Butterfly Bounty Thinlits, 148536
I used three shades of green for this project. The base is Mossy Meadow, the background layer is Pear Pizzaz and the top layer of the butterflies is Soft Sea Foam. The designer series paper is the Floral Romance DSP. It contains both the Mossy Meadow and the Pear Pizzaz. So instead of trying to decide which piece to use, I opted for both of them.
Of course the star of the show is the Butterfly Bounty Thinlits. They are fabulous. There are 20 dies in the set! The large one I used is actually two. They could be used individually or layered on top of one another like I did here. An almost “must have” is the Multi-purpose adhesive sheets to easily adhere these two pieces together, and add it to the card as well. It makes life much less frustrating!!
The die is actually two butterflies larger than the three that are attached together. The one on the bottom and one extra were attached also. I decided it was too large and cut the two off. Then I decided I needed the smaller of the two to hold my little sentiment banner.
The sentiment is from the second butterfly bundle in the Occasions catalog, Butterfly Gala. It is punched out with the Classic Label Punch. Of course I needed to add just a touch of bling to my card. Butterflies are so elegant that I knew pearls were the proper accessory for these beauties !

Today’s card is showcasing the gorgeous Painted Season stamp set. If you do not have this set, I strongly suggest you think about it quickly. It goes away at the end of the month. I apologize that the photos do not do the definition on the stamps justice. It is one of the prettiest flowers that is in the Stampin’ Up! products right now.

As I said above, the photo is not quite clear enough to see the great detail on the flower. So you will have to trust me. The other stamps are just as defined. The leaves I stamped here are in Soft Sea Foam, so they really do not show up well in the photo. Sorry about that.
This card is done with a technique I have not used in many years. It goes back to my beginning in stamping and is tearing the paper. Did you ever make cards with that touch added to them? For this one I tore a piece of copy paper to lay across the Whisper White piece. I then stamped the images over the paper. After I removed the torn piece, I came back and stamped the sentiment and little leaves on each end of it.
The sentiment is from Flowering Desert and just seemed to strike me as perfect. I thought of these flowers as beautiful from the first one I stamped. So of course when I saw the sentiment, I knew it was the one to use.
