You’re The Best

When I made the Rooster card earlier in the week, I stamped the rooster twice, of course, to try coloring him a bit differently.  He didn’t end up too different from the earlier one however.  But the card layout is a bit different.  Here is the second Rooster card.

Stampin' Up!, Home To Roost, P.S. You're The Best, Tin Tile Embossing, Jackie Beers

Home To Roost, 149736

I still used the Poppy Parade for the cone and beard.  And that led to the Poppy Parade Frame.  Since the Mossy Meadow is quite darker, I decided to use the Poppy Parade as the ink on the sentiment.  One thing just led to another!

Speaking of the sentiment, it is from the P.S. You’re The Best stamp set.  It is a great little set with the typewriter.  It has cute little sentiments, and wonderful little background stamps for subtle additions to cards.

In case you missed Monday’s Rooster, you can see him HERE

Today’s little guy is not as bright as the first Rooster.   I still used the Bermuda Bay.  I loved the color and richness it gives to his main body feathers.  I am not sure how well you can see in the photo, but I carried the Smoky Slate out onto the tail feathers as well as the wing.  It looks good up close.  You will just have to trust me. LOL!

I was so thrilled when the Tin Tile Dynamic Embossing Folder carried over from the Holiday Catalog.  I hope you didn’t miss that.  It is listed on the inside of the back page of the Occasions Catalog as one of the main carry overs.  WOOHOO!!  I love the depth of the embossing, but a tin tile goes perfectly with the country feel of the rooster.

Thank you for stopping by today.  Please come back tomorrow for another project.  All of the supplies are listed at the bottom of the page.  And if you are interested in hosting a party, or have any questions about my projects, please contact me.  I would love to talk with you about these and the SPECIAL JOIN PROMOTION going on during Sale-A-Bration.

Card and Envelope in One

I commented yesterday that I had found old cards and 3D projects and would be CASING them.  Well, today is one of those Cases.  I did two versions of the Card & Envelope all in one.

This project utilizes the Envelope Punch Board.  This is one of my favorite tools to use.  I just do not do it often enough.  Usually I use it for other than envelopes, but today it was used for just the designed purpose.  Too funny!!

Stampin' Up!, Needles & Thread, Envelope Punch Board, Poppy Parade, Jackie Beers

Needles & Thread Bundle, 150626

And here it is open.

The one above is made from a 6X6 piece of Designer Series Paper.  The inside card is 3 1/8 X 4 1/8.

The larger one below is made with an 8 X8 piece of Designer Series Paper with the inside card 4 1/4 X 5 1/2.

Needles & Thread Bundle, 150626

These are actually very quick and easy to do .  The most difficult part is deciding how you want to do the closure.  And all that takes is a flower or object that the top flap slips behind.  The small one is the banner that says Thank You, and the large one is the flower layers.  For the flower, or something similar, I suggest a thick card stock and remember to put your dimensional(s) on the bottom portion only.  This way the flap slides behind the upper section and stays in place.

I used the Envelope Punch Board measurements for the size I wanted.  Actually I looked for the size paper I wanted to use first.  Also, there are no unusual steps to these cards.  Start with the first Punch/Score mark and then rotate the paper around, aligning the score line each time.  The small one begins at 2 5/8, and the large one begins at 3 1/2.

Special Note:   Do Not Forget that it is Sale-A-Bration time.  The Needles & Thread Bundle will put you 4.25 away from a FREE item.

I hope you will give these little guys a try and let me know what you think.  Thank you for stopping by today.  I have listed the supplies for both cards in the supply list at the bottom of the page.  Even though they look different, pretty much everything is included in the bundle.

Flap Fold Card

I have been going through old cards and 3D items again.  So be prepared for some redone “old” ideas in the near future.  Today is a redo of a buckle card.  At least that is what the inspiration card looked like.  I have combined a couple of Sale-A-Bration stamp sets to create this card.

Stampin' Up!, Dear Doily, Beauty Abounds, Nature's Poem, Blackberry Bliss, Petal Pink, Jackie Beers

Dear Doily, 148690

Please excuse my thumb!  I had to hold it to get the best picture.  The flap wanted to open enough to cause a shadow.  Anyway….. I combined Dear Doily with the Bocca from Beauty Abounds.  I have always loved small background stamps.  And these little dots are a great one to have.

Here is a view with the Flap open.

Now you can see the larger of the doilies stamped on the main card.  I really like how the punched layer on the flap centers with the main one.  It just took a small bit of moving around to get that alignment.  I attached the flap to the back of  the card.  I had already adhered the inside white layer before I thought about attaching.  Next time, I will add the flap to the inside back layer and cover it with the edge of the inside layer.

I used the colors in this Nature’s Poem sheet of DSP.  I do not believe I would normally pair Blackberry Bliss with Petal Pink.  Or, maybe now I will do that!  I like them together.  Even though it is not an exact match, I added one of the Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots to the center of the flap doily.  It was just enough to call it finished!

I have the supplies at the bottom of the post and the measurements are listed next.  Thank you so much for visiting today.  Please come back tomorrow for another Redo Project.

MEASUREMENTS:

  • Base card is 5 1/2 X 8 1/2, scored and folded
  • First layer is 5 1/4 X 4
  • Top layer is 5 1/8 X 3 7/8
  • Flap base layer is 4 1/2 X 1, scored at 1/2
  • DSP flap layer is 4 X 7/8

Bright Rectangle Rooster

I have finally broken out the Rectangle Stitched Framelits and OH MY !!!  I am in love!!  These are now my favorite Layering Framelits.  Be warned, I will be using these often I believe!  And I played with the Home To Roost rooster from Sale-A-Bration.  I have seen some beautifully colored roosters, as well as some just stamped roosters.  I like the look of both.  Today though, I went with a brightly colored rooster.

Stampin' Up!, Rectangle Stitched Framelits, Home To Roost, Jackie Beers, Beauty Abounds

Rectangle Stitched Framelits, 148551

I was  not so sure about this guy at first. We had a rooster show up in our neighborhood last year.  And he was a pain.  (I live in a subdivision and not in the country!)  So I was not too fond of chickens after that.  I am over it due to this cute fellow.  I now LOVE him!  And I am very happy with the coloring and how it works with the card stock layers.  I wasn’t sure on the colors at first, I am sure this is not a normal looking rooster!  But the bright layers of card stock makes the rooster pop.  Plus it gives the opportunity to see the beautiful Rectangle Stitched Framelits in action!!

To give a bit of texture to the white around the rooster, I used the splatter stamp from Beauty Abounds.  I love using small background stamps to add texture or just to soften up the stark white sometimes.  The sentiment also came from Beauty Abounds.

A last note about these framelits,  They put stitching on the layer it cuts out, but also on the piece that is left.  Sort of a two for one deal!  And we love those…..   For these layers, I used the largest die, skipped one, used the next die, skipped one, and used the next die.  I had planned on three consecutive sizes but when I saw how close together they would be, I opted for more card stock showing.

Thank you for visiting today!  I hope you will return tomorrow to see a new project.  Remember the JOIN PROMOTION below!

Simple Ghirardelli Treat Holder

I was looking for card inspirations by looking through some old swap and Make ‘n Take cards when I discovered today’s project.  It is a very simple treat holder.  It is pretty quick and is really cute.  Hopefully I can explain it so you understand the simpleness of it.  That’s a lot of pressure!  LOL!!

I will apologize to the originator up front.  I have had this for some time, so I have no idea who to give credit for designing this. When I looked as I was getting ready to post, I did find several videos and posts of this on Pintrest.

Beauty Abounds, 148726

I love the softness of this sheet of designer series paper.  It is from the FREE Sale-A-Bration Botanical Butterfly DSP.  The butterflies on the sentiment are from the same pack of paper as well.  They were punched with the Butterfly Duet punch.  You may not be able to see from the angle, but there are two punched butterflies stacked on top of each other.  I will add that I have not previously been a huge butterfly fan.  The two new butterfly bundles, and especially this punch, have pretty much converted me!

And here is the back.  I added a small piece of paper so you write a message and sign your name.

This is a cute holder that you could make multiples of very quickly.  And it would be fairly easy to alter the size to maybe hold a Tea Packet or something similar.  Even down size to hold a Mini Ghirardelli chocolate.

I will give one Big Tip in making this.  Actually it is almost a must have.  The Simply Scored Tool, which to me is a must have anyway, makes this quick.  But the tip is to take a Black Marker and draw a line down the 6″ line.  It helps me with a lot of projects.  But for this one you are doing all your scoring from there.

Begin with a 6 X 6 DSP.  Place it with the points in a diamond shape and lined up on the 6″ line of the Simply Scored.  Score at 4 1/2, and 7 1/2.  Turn and line up the other points on the 6″ line in the diamond shape.  This time score at 5 1/4, 6, 6 3/4.

Now fold and burnish on all the lines.  (From the two large scores, you want to choose your outer paper side. )  Fold those to the center and then fold in half with the three folds at the bottom.  Push the center one up into the center of the two.  You are finished!!  How easy is that??  Then just decorate as you see fit.

Thank you for visiting today!  I hope you will return on Monday .  All of the supplies are listed at the bottom of the page.
