This is day 3 of Silly Old Bear cards. Today I have a Fun Fold that I created during our monthly Stamp and Share with my Upline and Team meeting. I did stray from the directions however, and added a sentiment to my card. The idea was no stamping and the Silly Old Bear DSP is fabulous for no stamping cards.
Papers
This card required three different sheets from the Silly Old Bear Designer Series Paper. First are the background scenes. These are two scenes that I thought worked together. The left and center are actually one scene that I cut in half and made to fit the panels. Next is the right side scene that is very similar to the door in the tree of yesterday’s card. I believe the two work very well together and especially as background.
The next sheet from the DSP pack is the map. What better way to go on a journey than with a map as your base. And finally we have the bear and piglet. This was from a third sheet of the DSP. I have used these pre-done animals on all of the cards. They are already colored so beautifully that I could not resist them.
To create the card layout, I used Crumb Cake cardstock for the base cut 11 X 4 1/4 and scored at 2 3/4 & 5 1/2. Next is the map section which is 11 X 1 1/2 and scored also at 2 3/4 & 5 1/2. The background to the scenes is Hydrangea Hue cardstock which I love and it fits perfectly. It measures 2 1/2 X 4 (2 of those) and 5 1/4 X 4. The map pieces are cut 5 1/4 X 1 1/4 and 2 1/2 X 1 1/4 (2 of those).
Stamps
The stamping is actually an afterthought as I created the card using only the scenes to tell the story. But then I thought what would a recipient think? So I added the sentiment to tie into the scenes. It is one of the sentiments from the Sweet Words & Labels stamp set. I did not use the matching Die set. It was simply cut to straight edges with my Paper Trimmer. I did not want it to stand out above the rest of the card but to blend in if possible.
Extras
This is going to shock you to no end……there are no Extras. I could not believe it myself. When I started looking as to what needed some Bling or special touch, I could not decide on anything. So here we are with a No Bling card. Wow!

I have another of the Love Notes cards to share today. This is the last of the Valentine, or any occasion, card. These were so easy and fun to make. I hope you will consider this paper as a Go To for a quick, sweet card.
Polka Dot Love
The Love Notes Designer Series Paper is all of this card. I have used multiple parts of the pack. The polka dot larger layer has the lovely floral arrangement pre done on it. Then I added the two strips to the left. The checked strip was shown in the last post along with the purple. And of course these adorable heart flowers on the far left strip. How fun is that!! Even the sentiment is from the paper. I simply used the Paper Trimmer to cut it out and slid it over to the right edge. A few cuts and some glue is all that was needed. I did add Cherry Cobbler as the card base on this one.
Extras
This called for very little Extras as it has the variety of patterns of paper. But of course it still received two Extras. The bow is from the Garden Green Chevron Ribbon. The thin ribbon makes for an easy ribbon to work with. And of course Bling is a must. I still consider green a Bling. These are from the Moody Palette Glossy Dots. I really love these. They are flat and with enough shine to stand out.

Making a special masculine card can be a little difficult. Today’s card accomplishes this with the He’s All That Suite of products.
Stamps and Dies
This card was for our anniversary. It is fairly simple, but has some fun elements and the sentiment is spot on for us. The He’s All That Bundle has some great masculine sentiments and some fun shapes to Die cut them. The dies are the All That Dies. This shape for the sentiment reminds me of the old fashioned Blue Ribbon award. So finishing it with the Faux Suede Ribbon was perfect.
Papers
The He’s The Man Designer Series Paper has quite a different range of paper. There are cars, camping, trees, and then more neutral prints. This card includes cars and a neutral. Using this layout is a great way to use less of one DSP piece, And by using little strips for the under piece, you can use up all your scraps. My paper packs end up with a lot of similar size pieces that I cannot bare to throw away. This section is finished with a trio of the Rustic Metal Dots.

The title of today’s post is Family. This comes from the adorable Honeybee Home stamp set paired with the Heart & Home DSP. A beautiful pair!
Stamp Set and Dies
I did use a stamp set and a die set, but they are not a pair. However, the two work perfectly together. The sentiment and flower stamp are from the Honeybee Home stamp set. For the great design of the sentiment layer, I went to the Hippo & Friends Die set. These are an awesome mix of layering dies that are in addition to the hippo and his friends. I think they are must have for your layering die needs!
Paper and Colors
As is usually the case with me picking colors, I chose from the gorgeous DSP. Today I used the Heart & Home Designer Series Paper. I love the soft colors in the top layer of DSP, and how the green layer compliments it perfectly. All of the paper and stamping colors come from the top DSP layer.
To tie all of the layers and colors together, I chose just a wrap around of the Pale Papaya Open Weave Ribbon. It grounds the sentiment layer. And to help that layer stand out just a bit, I used the Fresh Freesia Stampin’ Write Marker to go around the edges. There is the smallest of an embossed ledge around the layer. By running the side of the marker around a couple of times, it goes onto that little ledge and adds a bit of a divider between the layer and the DSP. I finished with a trio of the 2021-2023 In Color Jewels.

Hello, welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month our Design Team’s theme is “Great Family Occasions.” We hope you enjoy and will be inspired by them! Don’t forget to leave comments! We love hearing from you. At the end of my post, you will find the full line-up to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.
I have a bit of a difficult time with Family Occasions. And in looking through the stamp sets, one has touched my heart a couple of times. So I went with my heart and made a Grandparents or Grandfather card. A bit unusual but probably a much lesser made card than most family ones. I have some “Friends That Are Family” with new Grandbabies and that may have influenced me a bit.
I chose the Treasures of Life stamp set. It is so well drawn! The set features men and women with children and a baby. It would not have to be a Grand Child.
The layout I chose to do is a bit different. I envisioned the stamped scene being viewed through a heart shape. However, I could not make that work. In looking through my different dies, I found the Suit & Tie Dies and this “V”. It is supposed to be a shirt front “V”. Regardless of the intention, it fit my idea perfectly.
The images are stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I colored them using a variety of Stampin’ Blends. They are all listed at the bottom of the page under Supply List. One of my favorite things to do when there is an image and no background is to add color around the entire image. I always use the Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blend and simply scribble around the images. It just outlines, or gives them a grounding shadow.
The colors are all pulled from the DSP. It is the Well Suited Designer Series Paper. Maybe the flowers are not exactly a match for the winter dress of the images. I take creative license there ! LOL!!
The sentiment is from the stamp set and a lovely one to use. I die cut it using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. The enamel dots are from the 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots in Misty Moonlight. That is a simple touch and just enough I think.
Measurements:
Base card is Night of Navy cut 4 1/4 X 11, scored and folded at 5 1/2
The layer is Seaside Spray cut 4 X 5 1/4
The White layer is cut 3 3/4 X 5
The DSP layer is cut 3 3/4 X 5 and then Die Cut using the Suit & Tie Dies “V” shape.
Thank you very much for visiting today and joining in our hop. I would love for you to comment and let me know your thoughts on my layout idea.
More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Mark your calendars for our next blog hop on May 12th when our theme is “2021-2023 New In Colors” when our Design Team creates a project with the new family of In Colors for any occasion. Don’t miss the fun! Until then, please stay safe and have fun in your craft space.
In planning today’s card, I was thinking of using DSP that will be retiring quicker than we think with the end of the Annual Catalog or Mini Catalog. With that in mind, I was looking for a sentiment or focal image that would work alone. I have only used this lovely sentiment one other time. Now is a perfect time for these lovely words.
The sentiment is a favorite that I do not believe I will be getting rid of when it retires. It is perfect for a variety of occasions. It and other equally wonderful stamps are in the Positive Thoughts stamp set in the Mini Catalog.
The DSP is the Perennial Essence and was chosen because I wanted to use my favorite Stampin’ Up! Color. It is the Seaside Spray. I went a bit crazy with it when it first debuted and have made myself use other colors for a while.
I paired the Seaside Spray with my second favorite color which is the Purple Posy. I , like everyone else, was so bummed when the ink color could not be formulated to SU specifications. That did not deter me though. I use it regularly with the card stock as well as the marker and Stampin’ Blends.
The Old Olive was chosen as a compliment to the Seaside Spray and Purple Posy. I love the layers all working together. As a grounding for the butterfly and sentiment, I used the delicate looking edging cut in the Seaside Spray. I ended up covering more of it than I had intended.
The butterfly and the edging is from the Nature’s Thoughts Dies. They were in the release of dies released just after the beginning of the year that coordinated with stamps from the Mini Catalog or the Annual Catalog.
I appreciate you stopping by today. Please come back tomorrow for the Pals April Blog Hop. There will be quite a few great projects for you to hop through.
