Hugs

The card I am sharing today was made for a dear friend that lost a family member.  I tried to make a card with her likes in mind.

Stampin' Up!, Blackberry Beauty, Positive Thoughts, Jackie Beers

Stamps and Paper

My friend likes nature and it’s calming effect.  These stamps are from the Positive Thoughts stamp set.  I love the sentiment and for me that is a very Positive Thought!  The leaves and feather are from the same set as well.  They are stamped using colors I chose to highlight that are in the beautiful DSP.

This DSP is the Blackberry Beauty Designer Series Paper.  It is supposed to be back in stock soon.  I apologize that you cannot order it just now.  However, it fit perfectly with this card theme. So I had to use it.  The unexpected of the paper, at least for me, is the bright pink!  I love it and the Pop it gives.  But there is nothing to not love about this paper.  Other than it not being available right now!

Measurements:

The placement of the stamped layer is a good one.  However, it was done to allow for more of the beautiful paper to show.  I love those owls and there are three of them down the right hand side.  After placing the layer to the left, I decided it worked for not covering the owls, but made for a very pretty layout as well.

  • The card base of Blackberry Bliss is cut 4 1/4 X 11 and scored at 5 1/2
  • The Polished Pink layer is cut 5 1/4 X 4
  •  The DSP layer is cut 5 1/8 X 3 7/8
  • The Polished Pink focal layer is cut 4 3/8 X 2 3/8
  • The White stamped layer is cut 4 1/4 X 2 1/4

Sympathy With Art

I am sure you all dislike the need for sympathy cards as much as I do.  However, they are needed more than we wish they were.  Today I have one to share.  I combined it with a Fun Fold and some gorgeous paper.  The card itself can still be a Happy card, even if the occasion is not.

I used the Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper as the highlight of this card.  The Pretty Peacock card base was chosen as the best choice, I thought, from the colors of the DSP.  The stamped flower colors came from there as well.

The stamped flowers are from the Art Gallery stamp set.  It is a photopolymer stamp set and that material is a bit difficult to color with the Stampin’ Write Markers as we do with the red rubber stamp sets to get more than one color on a stamp.  I don’t know if it was just the colors I chose, but it worked beautifully this time.  The flower heads are colored using the Bumblebee Stampin’ Write Marker and the leaves are done using the Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Write Marker.  (The only negative thing about this is that the markers can only be purchased in the color families, or as the entire set of colors.  The only individual color available is Basic Black.)  The Terracotta Tile center of the flowers is a separate stamp and I used the terracotta Tile Ink pad for that addition.

Here is a look at the Fun Fold and the inside of the card.

The flowers on the bottom of the inside sentiment layer are the same flowers as the front.  I just inked it using the Bumblebee Ink Pad and stamped a little section on the bottom of the White layer.

The front sentiment is from the Happy Thoughts stamp set.  The inside sentiment, which I think is wonderful, is from the Sale-A-Bration set Heal Your Heart.  SAB is over, but there is another two months of SAB later in the year.  I do not know if any of the ones from this past will be available at that time.  I haven’t been able to find information on that as yet.

Regarding the Fun Fold:  I have all of the measurements below.  This one is the same principle as one from last week, in that you cut off a section and then use that as the focal layer.  You can see the other fold HERE.

Measurements and Directions:

  • Cut card base of Pretty Peacock to 5 1/2 X 8 1/2, score at 4 1/4.  Measure the front flap of the card down 2 3/4 and cut across the from the edge to the score line.  Then cut up the score line to remove that section.  You will have removed a piece measuring 2 3/4 X 4 1/4.  This will be your front focal layer.
  • Cut White card stock to 5 1/4 X 4 for the inside section of the card.
  • Cut DSP to 5 1/8 X 3 7/8 for the inside of the card.
  • Cut White card stock to 2 1/2 X 4 for the bottom flap of the card.
  • Cut DSP to 2 3/8 X 3 7/8 for the bottom flap
  • Cut two pieces of White card stock to 2 1/2 X 4.  One is for the front focal layer and the other for the inside sentiment layer.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you enjoyed this Fun Fold.  I love the fold and the Art Gallery Suite of products.  This card would work for any occasion with simply a change of sentiment.

Floral Sympathy

I am casing a card in the annual catalog today.  Of course as I began typing this, I could not find the card again!    The CASE is of the layering of the cardstock on the front of the card.

I loved the two different DSP pieces on the front of the card (that I cannot remember now!).  So I used two complimentary pieces from Artistry Blooms Designer Series Paper.  The left side piece is only 1 1/2″ wide.

The flowers are from the Floral Essence stamp set.  I truly cannot remember the last time I used this set.  It pairs with a three petal flower punch named Perennial Flower that is a flower builder.  I went with the full flower and fussy cutting!  The leaves are stamped and then colored with Stampin’ Blends.

I actually made two of these cards.  The second card is more of the left DSP and less of the right one.  So an opposite color layout.  I needed a birthday card so that one went out right away with a birthday sentiment and of course, I forgot to photograph it!!  This one I had the sympathy in mind to begin with.

The sweet sentiment is from the Path Of Petals stamp set.  It is die cut using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies.  I love that the same card works for both a celebration and sympathy.

Pet Love for CTS381

This card is for a friend who had to say goodbye to one of the sweetest and smartest dogs ever.  To me these are as hard to make as a sympathy card for a person.  I really love animals.  But I was happy with how this one worked out.  The sketch from Case This Sketch was in my mind, and it just came together.

In coming up with this card, I was looking at the gorgeous Playful Pets Designer Series Paper, and again the sketch was in my brain.  I knew the two would mesh perfectly.  Here is the sketch:

After cutting all of the DSP, I began looking for the perfect sentiment.  Surprisingly, I found it in the Rustic Retreat stamp set.  This is a winter time set, but the words were perfect.  This sweet dog was the perfect mannered one, and always walked right by my friend’s side.

The final touch was the little dog bone accessory from Playful Pets Trinkets.  It is paired with the Playful Pets Trim combo.  I used almost everything from this suite of products except the dies!

The measurements for today’s card are:

  • base card is 4 1/4 X 11
  • 4 1/8 X 5 3/8
  • 5 1/8 X 3 7/8
  • 4 1/8 X 2 /34
  • 4 1/8 X 3/8
  • 4 1/8 X 1/8

Rainbow Tales

Today I am sharing the card I made for a friend who lost her doggy best friend a few weeks ago. Our pets are family to a lot of us and it is so hard to say goodbye.

I love the HappyTails stamp set for so many reasons.  This sentiment is one of the main reasons!  It is so true.  All of the stamps I used are from this one stamp set.  I love when I can make cards from just one set.

I paired the Woven Threads Designer Series Paper with my favorite Stampin’ Up! color, Seaside Spray.  I added Rococo Rose as the complimentary color for more of a pink than the Purple Posy would have given.  Although I love that color and used those colors in a card last week.  You can click on the GALLERY button at the top of my page to see all of the projects I have blogged.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you have the opportunity to get some crafting of any kind in while you are in the Stay At Home mode.

Hugs and Love

In planning today’s card, I was thinking of using DSP that will be retiring quicker than we think with the end of the Annual Catalog or Mini Catalog.  With that in mind, I was looking for a sentiment or focal image that would work alone.   I have only used this lovely sentiment one other time.  Now is a perfect time for these lovely words.

Stampin' Up!, Positive Thoughts, Nature's Thoughts, Perennial Essence, Jackie Beers

The sentiment is a favorite that I do not believe I will be getting rid of when it retires.  It is perfect for a variety of occasions.  It and other equally wonderful stamps are in the Positive Thoughts stamp set in the Mini Catalog.

The DSP is the Perennial Essence and was chosen because I wanted to use my favorite Stampin’ Up! Color. It is the Seaside Spray.  I went a bit crazy with it when it first debuted and have made myself use other colors for a while.

I paired the Seaside Spray with my second favorite color which is the Purple Posy.  I , like everyone else, was so bummed when the ink color could not be formulated to SU specifications.  That did not deter me though.  I use it regularly with the card stock as well as the marker and Stampin’ Blends.

The Old Olive was chosen as a compliment to the Seaside Spray and Purple Posy.  I love the layers all working together.  As a grounding for the butterfly and sentiment, I used the delicate looking edging cut in the Seaside Spray.  I ended up covering more of it than I had intended.

The butterfly and the edging is from the Nature’s Thoughts Dies.  They were in the release of dies released just after the beginning of the year that coordinated with stamps from the Mini Catalog or the Annual Catalog.

I appreciate you stopping by today.  Please come back tomorrow for the Pals April Blog Hop.  There will be quite a few great projects for you to hop through.
