Handwritten Pinwheel

My card for today is an oldie but goodie in regard to technique.  It is the very easy to do Pinwheel card.  There are many versions of this if you check Pinterest.  And they have been around for many years.  I find that old techniques and new designer series paper, make for beautiful cards.  So here is my new version.

I love our new 2019-2021 In Colors!  One of my favorites, well truthfully I do love them all, is the Seaside Spray.  I used the 2019-2021 6X6 Designer Series Paper Stack of the Incolors as my pinwheel.  As I mentioned above there are a variety of ways to achieve this.

Generally you see a layer behind each piece of the pinwheel.  Because I used this DSP and it is solid and white only, I decided to leave off the layer and just go with the white layer behind.  Each of these  pinwheel pieces are 1 1/4 X 1 1/4.  (Again, these can be any size and are generally 1″ square with the 1 1/4 square background layer.)

For the background layer I decided to try the Handwritten background stamp.  It is a nice change from DSP or an embossing folder background.  I used the Seaside Spray card stock with Seaside Spray ink to make this layer.

I kept this a very simple card and did not add a sentiment or my usual embellishments.  My only extra was the large Basic Pearl to the center of the pinwheel.

I would love to see your versions of this card if you decide toggle it a try.  Please tag me if you do!!

Measurements:

  • Base card is 8 1/2 X 5 1/2
  • First layer is 5 3/8 X 4 1/8
  • 5 1/4 X 4
  • White layer 3 1/2 X 3 1/2
  • Each pinwheel 1 1/4 X 1 1/4

Thank you for stopping by today!  I hope you have a great day and will return tomorrow for another new project!

Over The Moon

This is my second post for today.  The first one was about the great specials that Stampin’ Up! has to offer.  You can see that post HERE.

Today’s card is a cutie that I envisioned as soon as I saw this stamp set!  And it fits with all the great updates I mentioned in the earlier post.  I am OVER THE MOON for Stampin’ Up!.

With the color pallet I used, this could very easily be a baby card.  That was not my intention, but all you would need is a sweet “welcome” on the inside and you are finished.

I stamped everything in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with my favorite things, the Stampin’ Blends.  I colored the Moon with Dark Daffodil Delight and then added the little ring around it with the new Light So Saffron.

I am not a cow expert, but think the black and white ones are usually more black than white.  I took creative license and made it white, with a touch of black.  I wanted you to see all the details in the stamp. I gave her a bit of a feminine touch by adding Light Flirty Flamingo to the ears, nose, and mouth.

When I was trying to decide what else was needed, I thought of the moon and had a lightbulb moment that it needed stars.  The perfect stars came from the Twinkle Builder Punch.  It even has a moon that you could punch and use in place of the stamped one.  I thought the stars were the perfect size.

Thank you for stopping in today.  I was absent yesterday due to storm damage.  Luckily it was not to the house.  Sunday we had a lightning strike into the ground about ten feet from the corner of the house.  It fried the air conditioner unit, cable, internet, and an electrical breaker.  Thankfully we have friends who do those things and along with the cable company got up and running by the end of the day on Monday.  For once I was ahead and already had scheduled Monday’s post.

Magnolia Hello

The most time consuming part of producing this card was the coloring.  And that is not very much.  I was pleasantly  surprised with how it turned out.

This card measures 4 1/4 X 4 1/4.  So it will fit in a regular A2 envelope.  I love square cards in that it makes cutting the layers very easy and doesn’t challenge my math skills.

I stamped the Magnolia with Soft Suede ink.  I like the softer look it gives to the flower.  I colored the stem with Crumb Cake and the leaves with the Dark Mossy Meadow.  For the flower, I colored the center and some of the defining lines with the Light So Saffron.  So Saffron is one of the NEW Stampin’ Blends available in the new annual catalog.  Of course I snapped all of the  new ones up right away.

Even though I used So Saffron Card Stock and Stampin’ Blends, I used Crushed Curry Ink for the Hello stamp.  I wanted it to be a bit stronger color to go with the darkness of the Mossy Meadow leaves.

Thank you for stopping in today.  I really appreciate it and hope you will return on Monday.  The complete supply list is at the bottom of the page.

Winds of Change for June InKing Royalty Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s June Blog Hop! This year’s Blog Hop themes are inspired by a single word – and this month our projects are centered around NEW. With the launch of Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Annual Catalog, NEW gives us the opportunity to showcase new products and play with new colors. There are also new occasions (babies, weddings, graduations) to celebrate, so you are going to see a variety of projects in this hop. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

My card reflects two of the NEW theme ideas.  I am showcasing a NEW stamp set, Winds of Change.  I looked at this set when I received my catalog and it was a must have.  As you know, I love to color with the Stampin’ Blends, and this set is perfect for coloring.  I also LOVE to travel.  Next month I am going on another Viking River Boat Cruise.  And we begin in Amsterdam!  I have never been to Amsterdam before, so this is my second NEW for the theme.  I am so excited about the trip, and am equally excited to share my card idea with you.

Even the sentiment on the card goes along with the theme!  I googled Amsterdam and looked at all of the windmills for some color inspiration.  They are typically brownish, but the blades can be different colors. I added just a touch of the Granny Apple Green to my blades to match the bottom section of the windmill building.

All of the pictures I saw were in vibrant colors, so that is what I went with.  I always prefer a mix of colors in flowers,  so I mixed my tulips and then added a whimsical touch with the butterfly.  The butterfly is from the Hold On To Hope stamp set and the Cross of Hope Framelits.  I colored it with Granny Apple and Daffodil Delight markers then die cut it.

The sentiment is done with my favorite new technique.  I used the Rectangle Stitched Framelits and cut to fit the size I needed.  (As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, there are several videos out there on how to do this little trick).

Abstract Scallops

I am sharing another of the Hidden Gems in the new Annual Catalog.  Today I am excited to show you the Scallop Notecards and Envelopes.  They are replacing the White and Vanilla Notecards that retired, although they may still be available on the clearance rack.

These new envelopes are in four colors that you can match with so many of the Stampin’ Up! colors.  Here is my quick little card.

I chose to try the Balmy Blue scallop card to begin with.  They also are in pink, old olive and terra-cotta tile.  I paired mine with a piece of Whisper White card stock that I stamped the Abstract Impressions flowers on.

I used the new Purple Posy Scallop Linen Ribbon to add some texture to the bottom.  This comes in a few of the new colors and is awesome!

OOPS:  I made a mistake.  I used the Purple Posy Ink on this project.  It is the one that there were issues with the formula.  So I apologize, but it is not orderable at this time.  I am so sorry!!!

My unconventional flowers are stamped in Purple Posy ink and Rococo Rose ink.  The Purple Posy is full strength and the Rose is stamped off once.  The Old Olive for the stems are some full strength and some stamped off as well.

The scallop notecard is 3 1/2 X 5.  I cut my Whisper White layer down to 3 X 4 1/2.  It is raised with dimensional also.

Thanks for stopping in today.  I will have a more regular card to share with you tomorrow….I hope!!  But please do not dismiss these Hidden Gems when looking through the catalog.  And if you do not have a new catalog, or a demonstrator, please let me know.  I would love to get a catalog to you and help you with your stamping needs.

Hello Magnolia

Happy New Catalog Day!!  I made that up of course, but I am so thrilled to be able to order more new products.  And I am sure you are as well.

There have been quite a lot of samples of this Good Morning Magnolia stamp set.  Last night I only had a few minutes to get today’s project ready.  So I tried to do a quick and versatile card.  I am very happy with what I came up with.

I see this layout as a group of Thank You , and just Hello type cards for a nice gift.  I already have that picture in my mind with a cute decorative box to match.

I went with subtle colors for the magnolia to pair with.  The speckle around the magnolia is, surprisingly, from the Birthday Backgrounds stamp set.  I stamped off in Petal Pink to get the really soft splatter look.  I felt that it needed just a bit of “something else”.  So I added the two falling leaves.  I like the way it turned out.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you will return tomorrow.  The complete list of products is at the bottom of the post.  There are not very many items used on this one though!

My June Host Code is M2PNZPVT .  Please use this code for orders under $150.00.  I will have a small perk for those with orders over $50.00.
