I know that is a goofy title….. But I am so happy to be back to my normal routine!!! I hope I still have followers 🙂
I had an Amazing trip to Europe for two weeks. And then came home sick. So I have not had the energy to move, much less go down to my craft room. I hate to have missed blogging for so long and that I wasn’t able to remind you of some awesome sales. But I am back…… And I have links to the Year End Sale, Retiring List, Carry Over List and the Blendies.
So to jump back on the card bandwagon, I have a cute Happy Birthday card to share. Yes, I got behind on those as well. And I really feel bad about missing birthdays! So here is my card.
As usual, my color inspiration came from the Designer Series Paper. I wanted something different from Holiday colors so I flipped through my paper and decided on Whole Lot of Lovely DSP. The blue in this floral is supposed to be more Tranquil Tide than Bermuda Bay. But the different shades match a variety of blues actually. I preferred the brighter and went with Bermuda Bay.
The gifts are stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored with the Blendies. I really do love those pens and I hope you will give them a try. They make coloring so easy!! I used a strip of Bermuda Bay to ground the focal piece as it seemed to get a little lost with all of the floral of the DSP. Sometimes all you need is a little scrap of card stock to finish the card.
I appreciate you hanging in there and waiting on my return to the living! I had a great trip and hate that it ended with me being down for a while. But all is well, and I can’t wait to show you some of the latest cards and ideas I have.
The products I used today are listed at the bottom of the post. You can click on any item and be taken directly to my online store. I hope you have a great day!!!
Before I get to the card for today. I apologize for being late with my post. Goodness, sometimes life just gets in the way!!
Also, I want to let you know that my next post will not be until Thanksgiving. I am going on a wonderful trip to Europe with friends. I return on the 20th and I know will be seriously jet lagged. I do not seem to bounce back from these as quickly anymore. Can you relate??? Anyway, I wanted to let my regular followers know not to expect me for the next two weeks. The hubby will be home with the animals , but unfortunately neither he or the four legged children care about keeping the blog going. I know it is shocking!!
So now on to the card. As I mentioned on the Gate Fold card I did earlier in the week, my club did a card swap with a fold challenge. This is another one of the folds that was shared. I have cased it and made my own version. This one is from Velda North.
County My Blessings, 144790
I love the acorns in the diamond shape as the focal point. I do have to say that the DSP and the Lemon Lime Twist around the acorns are the stars of the show. It looks like a normal card (if there is such a thing) but it opens only partially. Here is the inside view.
Even with the somewhat partial opening of the card, this is another super easy to make. And I can think of a lot of cute DSP to use for the front. Even using two different patterns would be great I do believe.
I have added measurements and directions under the measurements. The supply list is at the bottom of the page.
Thank you so much for visiting today, Especially since it is this late post. And remember to check back the week of Thanksgiving to see more of my creations.
MEASUREMENTS:
Card base is 5 1/2 X 8 1/2, score at 1 1/4 and 4 1/4 on the 8 1/2 ” side
Fold back the 1 1/4 and tape down.
the DSP on the left is 1 3/4 X 5 1/2
The DSP on the right is 1 1/4 X 5 1/2
The center strip is 7/8 X 5 1/2
The inside white piece is 2 3/4 X 5
The acorn white piece is 2 1/8 X 2 1/8 of the layering squares
The Lemon Lime Twist scalloped is from layering squares as well.
The acorns are colored with the new Stampin’ Blends
I have another Christmas card to share with you today. This one , unintentionally, seems very retro looking. Or just plain Old Fashioned ,if you prefer!
Good Tidings, 144870
Even with the old fashioned look, I really love how this card turned out. Sometimes the unexpected is the best. I went with traditional colors and then just stamped directly on the designer series paper. Sometimes we forget to do that and it usually has a great outcome when we do. After all, it is card stock as well.
All of the stamps are from the Good Tidings stamp set except for the holly at the top of the sentiment. The one stamped on the DSP was too large for that small leftover space. So I searched stamp sets and found this much smaller holly in the Every Good Wish set. And of course I had to add some bling!! So instead of red berries, you have rhinestone berries.
Thank you for visiting today! I hope you like this retro look. I think this would be a great one to make at a stamp a stack or even as your main Christmas card for sending.

Happy November everyone! Time has flown by this year, especially the Fall. We are close approaching the Holiday Season. So before we get too crazy with engagements, shopping, etc., I thought it would be a good time to reinforce the Thank You and Appreciate You type of cards. And my sentiment is definitely one that would show our appreciation for a friend, co-worker, or random at of kindness.
The new Stampin’ Blends are available for you to order beginning today. So I have CASED a card from the Stampin’ Blends Kit that Stampin’ Up! has created. It is a wonderful way to get the feel of the blends.
Color Me Happy, 144069
These colors just POP ! I am not very good with the blends yet, but they are beautiful and I know I will have a blast playing with them.
Other than the Night of Navy, I did not really have a color combination I was working with. I just randomly picked a few pairs of blends (They come with a light and a dark of each color) and started playing.
Tip: I stamped flowers randomly on a full sheet of Whisper White card stock , colored the flowers, and then cut it into angles and other shapes. A great way to try the blends and then have a variety of focal points for future cards.
Thank you so much for visiting today! I very much appreciate it. If you have any questions about the Stampin’ Blends, or anything else stamping related, please contact me. I hope you have an AWESOME day !!
My supply list of products I used today are listed at the bottom of the post.
The Hug In A Mug stamp set is sort of a “sleeper” in the Holiday Catalog. I looked at it but passed it by in all of my flips through the catalog. That changed when I was given the set as part of the festivities at Brian King and Pam Morris’s World Card Making Day in Atlanta. After the hot chocolate treat favor we made with the set, I was definitely in love. So I have made some hot chocolate for you today.
Hug in a Mug, 144933
I apologize for my poor photography. The foil in this Foil Frenzy DSP is hard to photograph. It just wants to shine!! Today’s card is a 4 X 4 card. I can see making a lot of these for the winter months (or when Mother Nature decides to stay cold here in the south!).
I hope this card will give you incentive to check out this stamp set. It is on page 42 of the Holiday Catalog. It is a set that would be perfect year round.
Again, the DSP was my color chart. The Foil Frenzy paper is wonderful. It is more of a Craft than Crumb Cake but it all works together. I added the white layer to tie in to the stamped layer. But it is super quick and easy card.
I hope you enjoyed today’s card. I appreciate your visiting and hope you have a fun and safe Halloween.
Reminder: The last day for the DSP sale…………
