Fall Forever Fern

My card today is a version of a card that we did at the Stampin’ Up! OnStage at Home last weekend.  Normally we would have had OnStage in Salt Lake City, but since this is not a normal year by any stretch, it was done virtually.  I have to give huge credit to Stampin’ Up! for a great event.  They went above and beyond with the content.

One of the stamping spots was a stamp along.  We were given the measurements to cut our DSP and other card layers for a surprise layout.  I loved the layout and decided to do it again with a different stamp set.  I think of the Forever Fern stamp set as the colors of the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper.  So it took a reboot of my brain to totally change the colors.  I am happy with the changes.

I used Cinnamon Cider, Mango Melody and Bumblee as my inks and DSP.  The pattern in the Designer Series Paper seems to be the rough look I was going for with the colors of the leaves.  I got the Cinnamon Cider and the Bumblee from the In Color 6X6 DSP.  The Mango Melody comes from the Brights 6X6 DSP.  I love having the same pattern in all of the colors.  Although it would have looked just as good had I chosen different patterns.

I stamped directly onto the base card.  It is the Thick Very Vanilla card stock.  I alternated the different stamps and ink to create the pattern going up the left side of the card.  For the sentiment layer, I used the same stamps and colors, but I stamped off to give it a softer look.  The sentiment is from the Forever Fern stamp set and is stamped in Cinnamon Cider.  Before adhering it to the top and bottom DSP layers, I wrapped the Linen Thread around a few times and added a multi-loop bow.

The measurements for the DSP are: 1 1/4 X 3 1/4 for the top and bottom pieces (Cinnamon Cider and Bumblee).  The middle layer is Mango Melody and is 1 X 4.  The sentiment layer is 2 1/4 X 3.

Thank you very much for stopping in today.  Please come back on Monday for some new projects I will have ready to share.

Chocolate

I have a Chocolate Cookie treat for you today.  I made this card for my cousin, who is like a sister, as a birthday card.  She loves plaid, and who doesn’t love cookies!

I love that the cookies have a bite missing.  That is definitely something I would have done in my young days.  I made five cookies and was able to place them so that the bites were covered except for the top one.  I also found a great little tip when I stamped the cookies.  The outside edge and the inside do not totally meet.  However, the Dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend pairs perfectly with the Crumb Cake Ink.  You cannot tell where I touched up the cookie inside.

I used two pieces of the In Good Taste Designer Series paper.  I was going for the look of the cookies sitting on a countertop.  So I have a wood counter with the stone backsplash.  Those designs in that pack of paper are very realistic!

I used the Foam Adhesive Sheets to make the Chocolate sign.  Those sheets are so easy to work with and are soft enough that the dies do not have any problem cutting through them.  I have had that issue with other brands of the adhesive foam.

The plate is created using the Layering Circles Dies.  I cut one from the Perfectly Plaid DSP and another from Early Espresso card stock.  A nice wintertime plate of yummy cookies!  The finishing touch is the little banner saying “adulting is hard”.  I really love that!  I stamped it and cut the one end using the Banner Pick A Punch.

Thank you for dropping by today.  I greatly appreciate you looking at my creations and I love to read your comments.  Also, from yesterday’s Pals Blog Hop, I used the Curvy Celebrations listed below.  They are a sneak peek of the January to June Mini Catalog.  However, the Curvy Christmas and the Class Christmas Designer Series Paper are only available from now until January 4 or while supplies last.  You can see my card from the hop HERE.

November Pals Blog Hop

Hello, welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month our Design Team’s theme is “Pile It On” – showcasing their card/project with layers of DSP and/or embellishments for any occasion. We hope you enjoy and will be inspired by them! Don’t forget to leave comments! We love hearing from you. At the end of my post, you will find the full line-up to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

Even though we could choose any occasion, I stayed with Christmas.  I have been having such fun using all the great Christmas stamps that I did not even consider another occasion.  Plus, with the Sneak Peek of the Quite Curvy Bundle and the matching Curvy Christmas stamp set, I just had to use it for this hop.

Stampin' Up!, Curvy Dies, Curvy Christmas, Classic Christmas, Jackie Beers

When I saw the row of trees in the Curvy Christmas stamp set, I immediately thought they needed rustic.  So out came the Rustic Retreat stamp set.  This cabin is perfect for so many occasions or if you simply love the mountains.  I have all of the Stampin’ Blend colors I used in the Supply List.

With the Curvy Christmas and the Quite Curvy stamp sets, all of the stamps are, you guessed it, curved.  But…..they are photopolymer, so they can be manipulated to be straight, or curve in the other direction.  I needed it to curve in another direction due to my placements.  It worked like a charm.  So remember that with the photopolymer stamps!

For the cutting of the front of the base card, I cut the White layer using the swirly curvy die first.  I then layed the white on the base card to place the second curvy die I used on the card base.  With  the white piece in place, I used a piece of washy tape to place that die where I wanted it and to hold it when I removed the white piece.  I added back the piece of Shaded Spruce that was cut from the base card.  I layed it down to see how much of the inside DSP I wanted to show, and then cut off the bit to make it flush with the bottom of the card.

You can see the inside of the card as well as the underside of the cabin attaching .

I manipulated the inside sentiment as well.  I have it arched instead of curving.  I love the ability to do this!

Thank you so much for hopping to my project.  I love to read your thoughts on my cards, so please leave a comment.

More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Mark your calendars for our next blog hop on December 9th when our theme is “Goodbye September Mini Catalog and Hello January Mini Catalog.” Participants showcase their favorites from the retiring holiday catalog or new products from the new mini catalog. Don’t miss the fun! Until then, please stay safe and have fun in your craft space.

Ugly Hat Contest

When trying to think what to name this card, I thought of the Ugly Sweater Contests each year.  So I went with the Ugly Hat.  It isn’t really Ugly!  It is just a bit on the gaudy side.  And I love it !

Sunday evening after our Stampin’ Up! At Home Convention was over, my Upline had a Zoom get together to share what we learned.  And it included a sketch challenge.  This was my version of the sketch challenge.

I have come to really love the Gnome For The Holidays stamp set.  And one of the reasons I love them is that each of the little gnomes are small enough to be a quick focal point of a card without taking up to much coloring time.

The DSP I used is the Tis The Season Designer Series paper.  I know I have used it quite a lot, but all of the patterns are gorgeous!!  For this card I was able to use scraps from where I had done backgrounds and this is the piece that was cut off.  Each of the pieces is 1 1/4 X 4.  I placed them on a piece of Whisper White card stock cut to 5 1/4 X 4.  I left equal amounts of white at the top and bottom with the colors in the middle.  I used my grid paper for lining everything up.  I hope you use your grid paper for things like this.  I won’t tell you how long it took me to realize how helpful it is!!!

I colored the lady gnome with Stampin’ Blends and then decided her hat needed some Bling!  The more Red Rhinestones I added, the more it became the Ugly Hat Contest.  But I couldn’t stop myself!    The finished touch was the sentiment and candy canes.

The sentiment is from the Warm Hugs stamp set.  I stamped and then used the Pick A Punch banner tip on the one end.  For the other end, I stamped the crossed candy canes, also from Warm Hugs, and fussy cut them.

The card is a base of Thick Whisper White.  The DSP is layered on a piece of regular Whisper White which is added with dimensionals to the base.

I believe it is wonderful to be part of a large group of stampers having fun.  And that is what we do as demonstrators.  If you have been thinking about ordering products, please consider the Ultimate Bundle, and join my team.  I would love to talk with you about all of the perks and my favorite reasons for being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator.

Thank you for stopping in today!  I do appreciate it!  Please come by tomorrow as it is the Pals monthly Blog Hop.  There will be a lot of great projects for you to hop along through.

An Easy Shaker Card

Please don’t let the Shaker Card in the title throw you off!  I have never been a huge fan of the cards.  They are pretty, but at least for me, very messy to make.  And they end up pretty thick due to the “shaker” part.

Over the weekend Stampin’ Up! had our Annual Convention AT HOME!  It was Awesome!!!  I missed seeing all my friends, but the comfort of my home was great.  We still got to see New Products and watch presentations with them.  And that is where the new and easy shaker card came from.  Rosie Gonzales, I hope I spelled that correctly, from California made this card to share.  I was hooked!!

It was really difficult to get a picture of this card due to all the shine.  And be one the lookout for other demonstrators sharing this new idea.  There were over 10,000 demonstrators online for this event.

The basics of this card is cutting a piece of DSP that would be the top layer of your card.  I used this leafy piece from Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper.  You then place the DSP inside a Clear Envelope.  Add your shaker / sprinkles/ glitter.  Get the DSP against the bottom and end of the envelope and remove the tape cover on the envelope and secure it tightly.  Use scotch tape to fold over the upper section that is empty.  Now all of your “shaker” material is enclosed in the clear envelope!

To finish the card,  create your other layers and simple add Tear & Tape around the back edges of the shaker part.  Adhere it to the rest of the card and you are finished!  I added my ribbon before I adhered the shaker to the other layers.  My finishing touch was simply to add the sentiment and punched with the Classic Label Punch.  So easy!!!

I hope you enjoyed this quick shaker card and will give it a try yourself.

Cup of Thanks

Today’s card is a little bit different fold.  I do not know if it has a more popular name, but I call it the Book Fold.  It is very simple and gives just a little different look.

I love the flexibility of the Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper!  At first I only thought of it as Fall and Christmas.  Now I have a whole new stack of ideas to use it on all types of cards.

This card pairs the beautiful plaid with the Press On stamp set.  This set is a bit overlooked I think.  The stamps and sentiments are so cute and it could pair with the Christmas coffee stamps and still be for any occasion on it’s own.

It is not like me, but I went for a very clean look on this card.  The coffee cup image just has the Real Red heart for adornment.  The “steam” is to bring in the sentiment.  The ribbon is the Real Red Braided Linen Trim and fits perfectly on the Book Fold.

Here is a look at the inside to give you a better idea of the Book Fold.

The inside stamps are all from the Press On set.  I added some steam to the heart just as a little bit extra.

I did not get as good of an angle as I thought.  If you look at the top left corner, you can see the flat section there.  That is where the ribbon is.  So instead of the inside opening of your card being the full size, it is 4 1/4 wide X 4 high.  It is still a side opening card, just that 1″ in from the fold is adhered tot he back of the card so that only part of the front flap opens.  I have all of the measurements and instructions listed just below.  Hopefully that will help explain the adhering that little section to the back.

Measurements and directions:

  • Base of Night of Navy is 4 1/4 X 11, scored at 5 1/2 and 6 1/2
  • DSP is cut 3/4 X 4 and 4 1/4 X 4
  • Real Red is cut 3 X 3 1/8
  • Whisper White stamped front layer is 2 7/8 X 3
  • Inside Whisper White layer is 4 X 4 1/4
  • Fold and burnish on both score lines.
  • Adhere the DSP to the front of the card in both places.  Use the second score line for spacing between the two pieces
  • Wrap the ribbon around the narrow DSP section and into the center between the front and back of card.
  • Use strong adhesive to secure together the narrow section to the back of the card.
  • Continue on as with any card.

Thank you for visiting today.  I hope you have a good weekend and will return on Monday to see more card ideas.

Deck The Halls

I have a fun Christmas card to share today.  And one of the details allows you to easily make two and have some cute pieces left over.  I love that!

I may have lightened the colors too much.  I wanted you to be able to see the Tin Tiles detail behind the focal center piece. The large Real Red section is embossed with the Tin Tiles 3D Embossing Folder.  And that is the special piece I mentioned at the beginning.  I embossed a 6X6 piece of Real Red card stock.  That size fits perfectly inside the embossing folder.  It also makes lining up the tiles properly very simple.  That was my main goal.  The after part was just a happy bonus!!  After embossing, I cut off the bottom two squares, and then cut in half the remaining six.  This gives what I have on the card.  You have the same piece plus the two cut from the bottom for additional projects.

The stamps are all from the Christmas Gleaming stamp set.  I used the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series paper for the striped background.  It is where all of my color choices came from. The ribbon is from the Playful Pets Trim Combo.  I have used this red and white ribbon on several projects.

Measurements:

  • Mossy Meadow cut to 5 1/2 X 8 1/2 folded in half
  • Whisper White cut to 5 1/4 X 4
  • DSP cut to 5 X 3 3/4
  • The embossed Real Red as mentioned in the narrative
  • Whisper White cut to 2 X 3 1/2

Thank you for stopping in today.  Please come back tomorrow for a non-Christmas card.  I try to give you a mix of cards.

Gift Wrapped Christmas

This cute card I have for you today is another card I received in a swap.  It is a case from fellow demonstrator Cheryl Campbell.  She cased page 12 of the Mini Catalog.  I love her version!!  All I changed is the colors.

Stampin' Up!, Gift Wrapped, Toile Tidings, Jackie Beers

This is a great card to make multiples of.  And a great use of DSP, in that you are not using a large amount of it.  I used the Garden Green side of the Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper for the “ribbon” on this package.

The bow is stamped tone on tone onto the Garden Green and punched using the matching bow.  The sentiment is from the Gift Wrapped stamp set.  That is even better!  The only thing you may not be able to see in the photo is that I raised the top layer.  The Garden Green is glued to the Thick Very Vanilla, and then the top layer is added using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I have all of the measurements for you below.  Thank you again for stopping by today.

Measurements:

  • Thick Very Vanilla cut to 4 1/4 X 11, scored and folded in half
  • Garden Green cut to 4 X 5 1/4
  • Very Vanilla cut to 3 3/4 X 5
  • Garden Green cut to 1 X 5 and 1 X 3 3/4
  • Toile Tidings DSP cut to 7/8 X 5 and 7/8 X 3 3/4
  • Scrap Garden Green for the bow

Pinwheel Card

Today’s card is actually two cards made with the same products and an older technique.  I have made two Pinwheel cards for you.  I generally make two, or at least cut the card stock for two cards.  Sometimes one ends in the trash, but both of these cards were successful.

Stampin' Up!, Lovely You, Tis the Season, Jackie Beers

For both cards, I used the same colors and pinwheels. The Mango Melody is embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.  I did change the sentiments and the layout.  This card has a sentiment from the Lovely You stamp set.  It pairs with the Banner Pick A Punch, which I used as well.

Here is the second version.

For this card, I changed the orientation to portrait.  I also used the Banner Year for the sentiment.

The colors are all based on the DSP.  It is the Tis The Season Designer Series Paper along with Rich Razzleberry card stock and Mango Melody card stock.  The pinwheels are white squares of 1 1/8 X 1 1/8 and DSP squares of 1 X 1.  The center is the Gilded Gems on the first card and Gold Glitter Dots on the second one.

Thank you for stopping by today!  I love bringing out different layouts and showing the posibilities.

The Curvy Bundle is available beginning today!  All of the details are in the flyer below.  Please reach out to me if you have any questions.

Curvy Birthday

Stampin’ Up! is doing an early release with one of the Bundles from the upcoming January – June Mini Catalog.  It will be available for you to order beginning tomorrow.  In addition to the stamp and die which will be in the Mini Catalog, there are additional products that are only available during this early release.  It is a Christmas stamp set, which pairs with the dies, and some beautiful 6X6 Designer Series Paper.  I was able to preorder it as a demonstrtor.  That is one of our awesome perks!  So I have a birthday card using the bundle and the Designer Series Paper.

Stampin' Up!, Quite Curvy, Love of Leaves, Classic Christmas, Jackie Beers

The Pictures of the products are shown below.  The Quite Curvy Bundle will be in the upcoming Mini Catalog.  As I said above, the Curvy Christmas and the Classic Christmas DSP will only be available during this Sneak Peek time of November and December.

For today’s project I used two sheets of the Classic Christmas DSP.  The colors are gorgeous!  I cut the top piece using one of the curvy dies in the bundle.

The sentiment is from the Quite Curvy stamp set.  It is shaped a little curvy to go along with the curve of the die cut.  I stamped the sentiment using Just Jade Ink to pair with the Just Jade base card.

The leaves are from the Love Of Leaves Bundle.  I stamped the images tone on tone and then used both the definition die as well as the cutting die for each leaf.  After laying them out the way I liked, I added a double strand bow using Linen Thread.  The Linen Thread is one of my must have products!

Thank you for stopping in today!  I really appreciate it and hope you like the card.  Please come back tomorrow for another new project.
