Life Is Beautiful

Life is indeed beautiful.  It snowed here in the Atlanta area yesterday for the third time this winter.  That is extremely unusual for us.  And when I woke up and looked out the window it was just beautiful.  Of course I did not have to get out in it since I am retired!  I am sure some of my friends had a different viewpoint.  So when I made this card the sentiment reminded me of my feelings earlier in the day.

Stampin' Up! , A Mother's Flair, Jackie Beers

A Mother’s Flair, 145905

I hope you love that sentiment as much as I do!  It is perfect for so many occasions.  I had to consider this stamp set for a bit, but I am so happy that I purchased it.  On first glance it is a Mother’s Day set,  and my Mom passed away many years ago.  But I kept being drawn to the individual stamps.  I finally gave in and I am so now in love with it.  I already have a couple more cards planned using  individual stamps.

I may have gone a little overboard with the different shapes.  I tried just using the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  But it made the pieces too large.  So I had to rethink it and ended up using a variety of the layering pieces.  I hope it gives you ideas for different cards though.

Bluebird of Happiness

LOL !!!  If you are my age, you probably grew up with the “Bluebird of Happiness” not being a good thing.  But that was exactly what I thought of when I saw the bird with the heart on top of the cart.  And that led to part of my color scheme for this card.  I am really happy with my bluebird here.

Friendships Sweetest Thoughts, 145826

My spring type flowers are my happy thoughts for warmer weather. I am tired of being cold!  I definitely would not make it living in the north.   So I went with spring flowers and soft colors.

COLOR COMBINATION:

The Night of Navy is a far cry from a “soft” color,  that  I was going for with this card.  I think it works though.  I believe it helps to draw out the color in the softer shades.  I hope you like it as well.  This was a super quick card to make and I hope you will give it a try.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today.  I very much appreciate it and I love your comments.  The supplies I used are listed at the bottom of the page.  Please contact me if you have any questions.

It’s Your Day

This card is a tad unusual, but I love the colors I used.  It is also colored with watercolor pencils and a blender pen.  I am beginning to understand the appeal of people who use the coloring books now to relax.  I would not want to make multiples of this card, but one or two would be quite fine.

The stamp set I used  today is Paisleys and Posies.  This is another one that I used when it first appeared in the Holiday catalog last fall.  I thought it was beautiful, and I still do, but then I have not touched it until today????? I am very happy that it carried over into this new catalog.

Paisleys & Posies, 142196

Even though this card is “different”, I still am very happy with the outcome.  It was basically just  random stamping and some coloring.  If five people did this similar layout with the stamp set, I believe you would have five totally different cards.

My color inspiration for this card came after I began coloring and I chose the two colors I thought would most “POP”.

I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp all of the items on our Shimmery White card stock.  I then colored with the Watercolor Pencils and went over it all with a Blender Pen.  Actually it only took a few minutes to complete.  I love the softness of the watercolor pencils and using a blender pen instead of an Aqua Painter is , at least for me, much easier to control.  I hope you will give it a try if you are new to using the watercolor pencils.

The sentiment is from the Confetti Celebrations stamp set.  I stamped it on a scrap of the Shimmer White card stock and punched it out using the Classic Label Punch.  To make the Old Olive matching layer, I just fussy cut around the original one.  It was pretty easy and I was thrilled with the result.

There are several stamp sets in the new catalog that are perfect for coloring.  I hope you will give this technique a chance.  Please let me know if I can help you at all.

Reminder of the EXTRA Host Rewards through the end of June !!  A great value for a large order or if you would like to host a workshop.  I would love to help you organize a day/night for a friends stamping event.

The supplies I used today are listed below.  You can click on any item and be taken directly to  my ONLINE store.

You’ve Got Style

I have to say that I laughed when I first saw this You’ve Got Style set in the new catalog.  I love the ladies and the sentiments.  I hope I did her justice in today’s card.

You’ve Got Style, 143898

Isn’t she just hilarious?  I love her style!  And when I was looking for my color inspirations and landed on the Foil Frenzy DSP, I knew it was perfect.  Then when it came to putting the card together I could not bring myself to align it normally.  The lady just shouted wacky!  So that is how she ended up.

The base is Thick Whisper White card stock.  The next layers are each the normal smaller layers of Berry Burst card stock, and Foil Frenzy DSP.  The lady has a layer of Berry Burst card stock as well.  As does the sentiment.  The lady is stamped in Basic Gray Archival Ink and then colored with Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen.  To give it a little more sparkle I added a couple of the Iridescent Sequins and gave the fir on color, cuffs, and hat brim a touch of Clear Wink of Stella.  I believe anyone would have a smile on their face if they received this  Sassy Lady in the mail.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today.  If you have any questions, or comments, please let me know.  And remember our great Host Rewards Special for June.

Happy Mother’s Day

It’s a couple of days early, but Happy Mother’s Day to all of you.  If your Mother is still with you, Please give her a big hug!!  I miss my Mom every day.  She was my biggest cheerleader no matter what I was doing. And I think she would have really liked this card.

Rose Wonder , 140697 & Rose Garden Thinlits,140619

I rarely make a card with only a little stamping.  But this is one of those!   Hopefully you will think it all works without stamping.  The background of Falling In Love DSP is just so soft but screams Mom or Wedding to me.  I did not want to cover up all that beauty, so I went with the “openness” of the Rose Wonder die cut.

  • The base of the card is Sahara Sand cut to 8 1/2 X 5 1/2 and folded in half
  • The Whisper White layer is cut to 5 1/4 X 4
  • The Falling In Love DSP is cut to  5 1/8 X 3 7/8
  • The rose is cut from Pink Pirouette using the Rose Garden Thinlits
  • The leaves are cut from Pear Pizzaz using the Rose Garden Thinlits
  • The Amazing Mother is from That’s The Tag set and is stamped on Whisper White and punched with 1 1/2 circle punch
  • The outer circle is in Sahara Sand and punched with the 1 3/4 circle punch
  • The butterfly is punched using Vellum card stock with the Bitty Butterfly punch

I hope you enjoyed this card and would greatly appreciate your comments.  Please do not forget the Retiring List, as a few of the items I used are on that nice list!

Below are the supplies I used today:

Bright Butterflies

Today I am showcasing a beautiful stamp set and die bundle that will be going away in a couple of weeks.  It is terrible that sometimes we find something we really love just as it is retiring.  And that is the case with this bundle.  Here is the card I made for my Stamp Club Spring Card Swap.

That's the Tag, Timeless Tags, Stampin' Up!, Jackie Beers

Timeless Tags Thinlits Dies, 142755

This is such a sweet card and I would love to receive one like it.  This bundle, That’s The Tag – 144725, was sort of a sleeper in the Occasions Catalog.  I will admit it took me a while to pull it out.  And I am so happy that I did.  Wow!  Such a quick and cute card.

  • The base of this card is Thick Whisper White card stock cut to 4 1/4 X 11.  (It stands up better with this cut )
  • The Brights DSP stack is cut 4 X 5 1/4, then it cut it to 5 1/4 X 2 1/2 and 5 1/4 X 1 1/2. I then flipped one side over. (The two patterns of this DSP are on the same sheet)
  • The White focal layer was cut with the layering ovals die and the butterfly cut outs from this bundle
  • The Real Red scalloped oval is also from layering ovals dies.
  • After I adhered everything I took a few of the cut out butterflies and added them back to the card using a glue dot.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card and if you really love this set as I did, it is still available on the Retiring List.  You can just click the link below.
