Invisible Man

I am sure you questioned my title for today!  I suppose I am once again showing my age.  Except now there is a new movie titled Invisible Man.  When I was young there was a tv show.  And I am not off the subject at all…….When I started this card, I intended to use the parts of the Well Dressed stamp set from Sale-A-Bration.  As I stamped them I saw I had sort of worked up the body.  So a card is born.  LOL!

I hope my vision is not totally lost on you.  I may have a more vivid imagination. 🙂

I stamped the various pieces from the stamp set and thought it looked like the invisible man, so I stuck with that.  Because I had already decided on the Country Club Designer Series Paper piece, I didn’t want to cover it too much .  That necessitated the funky cutting around the shoes.  I can see everyone’s eyes rolling now! LOL!!

Thanks for visiting today.  I hope I haven’t spoiled your weekend with my craziness.  I also wanted to share another card using the marker to rubber stamp coloring technique.  I talked about that in yesterday’s post.

Young At Heart

I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s Pals Blog Hop!  There were a lot of adorable critter cards.  You can click HERE to see my card again.   I played along as well with the Mystery Blog Candy giveaway.  You have until noon on Friday to comment on that Blog Hop card for a chance to win.  I will post the winner on Friday afternoon.

Today I have switched to a humorous Birthday for a sweet friend.  I have used the ladies from the Young At Heart Stamp Set.

The gorgeous Parisian Flourish Embossing Folder has pretty much stolen the show!  The details on this embossed image are amazing.  I cannot believe I haven’t used it before now.  This will be the first of many.

I stamped the image in Gray Granite Ink and then colored with a variety of the Stampin’ Blends.  The Purple Posy Blends pair beautifully with the Highland Heather.  The base of the card is Purple Posy and the layer is Highland Heather as well.

The sentiment I used for the front is only part of the sentiment.  The inside has the full sentiment stamped.

I can definitely relate to the “feeling” the age!  LOL!!  But back to stamping…..  There are two ways to use only part of a sentiment stamp.  Actually there are three, the third is to cut the stamp apart.  I only do that in drastic measures!!  The main two methods are to either color only the section you want with a Stampin’ Write Marker, or for Two is to use a post it note to cover the section you do not want, ink the stamp (remove the post it note) and stamp the sentiment.

I went with the Stampin’ Write Marker method.  That is , at least to me, the easiest method to get a partial stamping.  I know it is more expensive now to purchase the markers since they are only sold in the color categories.  However, it is a great way to get all of the colors without having to purchase all of the ink pads.  Also, you can purchase the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker individually.  Most of my sentiments are stamped in Black anyway.  Just a thought.

Thank you for stopping in today!

Pals March 2020 Blog Hop

Welcome to the Pals’ Blog Hop! We’re so glad you’re here. You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. This month we are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Pals Blog Hop with “Critters” from the Stampin’ Pretty Pals. Many of the design team members are offering “Mystery Blog Candy” of their choice to 1 lucky winner. To play along, just leave a comment on as many blog posts as desired. A random winner will be announced on a subsequent blog post by each participating design team member. You’ll find the full line-up below to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

I am playing along with the Mystery Blog Candy!  So be sure and leave a comment on this post and I will pick a random winner on Friday!  WooHoo!!

My “Critter” is a cute little baby chick.  I have been surprised by my friends having Grand Babies lately.  So I have needed Baby Cards.  The Welcome Easter Stamp set is a perfect “Critter” set for all times of the year, and not just Easter.  I love versatile stamp sets.

Critters, Stampin' Up!, Welcome Easter

I don’t know if you can tell from the photo, but the chick’s head is raised.  I stamped it on the card, but then stamped on a scrap and just cut out the head.  It is raised with Stampin’ Dimensionals to give it a bit of depth.  It looks really cute in person.

Of course if you follow me very much, you know what my favorite kind of card is.  Yes, it is a gift card holder.  And this is my “Go To” layout.  At least the base of it is.  I sometimes just do a flap attached to the left side.  Which I could have done with this card and it would look the same from the front.  But I decided to add an additional fold.  That is why I had to hold it closed for the photo.  (I apologize for the bad manicure, I haven’t been since I had surgery!)

Here is a picture of the inside with the added fold and the gift card slot.

Do you recognize the designer series paper i have used?  If you guessed the Dinoroar Designer Series Paper then you are correct!  I tend to use the opposite sides of the DSP.  This was a no brainer as soon as I saw the eggs.  We just will not tell anyone that they are dinosaur eggs instead of chicken eggs!!

I will include the measurements and directions after the blog line up.  Also the supply list is at the bottom of the post.  I hope you will give this sweet stamp set another look.  This card is a “One Set” card.  I love sets that can stand alone.  This is a good one for the beginner stamper up to the advanced stamper!

More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Mark your calendars for Wednesday, April 8th, for our “Special Occasions” blog hop when our Design Team showcase projects for weddings, graduation, anniversary, baby, Mother’s/Father’s Day or any special occasion. Don’t miss the fun!

Measurements:

  • 4 1/4 X 10, score at 5 1/2 and 8 1/4, Fold on all the score lines.
  • Inside layer base  is 5 1/4 X 4
  • DSP layer inside is 5 X 3 3/4
  • Front left layer base is 2 1/2 X 4
  • Front left DSP layer is 2 1/4 X 3 3/4
  • Second fold card (with chick) is 8 1/2 X 3 1/8, scored at 4 1/4
  • Chick layer is 3 X 4

Tip: When you fold in the gift card slot, you can add a thumb hole if you want but it is not necessary.  However, do put a gift card of card stock piece in the slot as you adhere the sides with Tear & Tape.  Otherwise it makes it a very snug fit and bends the front a tad bit.

Kindness Rules

Hello Everyone!  It is so good to be back to stamping!  If you are new to me, I had hip replacement surgery two weeks ago.  Actually two weeks ago today.  I am recovering wonderfully!  I have been pleasantly surprised how easy it has been so far.  So woohoo!!

It was so hard to know that my stamps were only a floor below me and I had to wait a while to get to them.  I made it on Sunday, but didn’t get everything finished.  My first card was a Thank You card for a friend who was sweet to include me in an event that I thought I would have to miss.

For a quick card there is nothing better than Designer Series Paper scraps and the Stampin’ Up! Notecards and Envelopes.  My desk was left in a bit of a mess.  But for once it worked in my favor.   The DSP is the Best Dressed Designer Series Paper.  It is two sides of different sheets.  The scalloped tag is from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies.  It was also an extra that was leftover from my Stamp Club.

I had stamp club the Sunday before my surgery and didn’t really get everything put away.  The DSP, and the extra pieces that I had cut were still on my desk.  Easy Peasy for a card!  I stamped the sentiment, which is from Dressed To Impress, as is the flowers.  The flowers are colored with Stampin’ Blends.

I layered the DSP a variety of ways and then thought of this layout with a scrap square.  Perfect fit.  A quick and cute card.

Thank you for waiting on me to return!  Tomorrow is the Pals Blog Hop, and I was able to get a card made so I will be playing along.  As a Bonus for the Hop, some of us are doing Blog Candy giveaways!  Please leave a comment on my post tomorrow.  (I do love when you let me know what you think of my cards!)  But tomorrow leave a comment and on Friday I will choose one person randomly to receive some Blog Candy.  I will announce on my blog and then send a seperate email to get your mailing address.  So please play along!

Beautiful Difference

This is my first time playing with the Timeless Tulips Bundle.  I adore the shading that is built into the stamps.  It makes any stamping look very professional.

The stamps I have used are all included in the stamp set.  I used all of the flowers and only one of the stems and leaves.  I was trying to keep it simple.

The flowers are stamped using Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape. The leaves and stems are stamped in Old Olive.  The large flower is stamped onto the white layer, and additionally on a scrap that is punched out using the Tulip Builder Punch.  I like to stamp it so that you can see it underneath if it is not exactly lined up.

I stamped the sentiment onto Highland Heather card stock using Gorgeous Grape Ink.  The flower with the sentiment is Highland Heather so it is a tad lighter.  And I got to use the Label Me Lovely Punch!  I love the taller size.  This one is different from any of the other punches in that it is taller.  I didn’t necessarily need the height here, but it fits what I intended.

To finish off the card I wrapped the Tri Color Ribbon (shades of our gorgeous purples) around the layer.  I added the sentiment a bit to the left with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I also added a few pearls around just for some bling!

Thank you for stopping in.  I will be back before too long.  Please continue prayers for a speedy recovery.

Poppies

This is the second card from last Sunday’s Stamp Club.  I really adore these poppies and especially the dies.  I have made a similar card previously.

I paired the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper with the Poppy Moments Dies.  The flower  base is the DSP and the outline is the Poppy Parade card stock.  I layered this with leaves cut out in Old Olive.  The background stripes are a reverse side of the Golden Honey Designer Series Paper.  It is layered onto a piece of Basic Black card stock.

For a touch of brightness, I added Granny Apple Green ribbon.  I think it is just the right amount of bright to compliment the Poppy Parade card stock.

Thank you for checking in today.  I will have another card ready to post on Friday.  I will try to pop in and let you know when I will be back after that.
