A Friend Like You

The way time flies it seems, I decided I should get with Valentine Cards.  It will be here before we know it.  And I am enjoying the two heart stamp sets in the new Mini Catalog that just debuted.  The matching heart punch pack with scalloped and straight cut hearts are fabulous.  Here is a look at a quick and easy Valentine card.

The colors in the gorgeous DSP are Flirty Flamingo and Real Red.  I went with the Flirty Flamingo as a backdrop and focal point on the heart.  I also used the new Heart Doilies behind the Flamingo heart.  The doilies are adorable and come in both colors also.  They will fit perfectly in the heart shaped tins in the suite of products.  I will share a project with those soon.

I stamped the sentiment inside the heart and then punched it from the DSP using the scalloped heart punch.  I layered it onto the doily heart and raised them with a Stampin’ Dimensional.  The strip of card stock was just in place of a ribbon as something to ground the heart.  This is a quick and easy trick when you may not have a matching ribbon or just want to use a scrap of DSP or card stock.

Thank you for visiting today.  I hope you will stop back tomorrow for another new project.  All of the supplies are listed at the bottom of the page.

Hello

I have made a quick “Hello” card with a bit of fussy cutting.  It must have been intuition, because Stampin’ Up! has some new release dies coming out next month.  And what I fussy cut for you today will soon have dies that take care of that.  I say “WOOHOO”!!!

I have always loved just simple collage type cards with a short sentiment.  They make great quick and easy cards.  With the fussy cutting, or die cutting, it takes it up a bit from “quick” but still is easy to reproduce.

I CASEd this from the mini pizza box in the Mini Catalog 2020.  You never know where you will get ideas.  The background leaf is stamped directly onto the card layer.  The left leaf is directly stamped and then the right one I moistened it with my breath and stamped again.  (That is a nice way of saying that I huffed on it.  that is the verbage from when I first started stamping)

The feathers and flower are stamped on scrap paper and cut out.  I was not too careful in my cutting.  The sentiment is from another new stamp set in the Mini Catalog.  It is the Timeless Tulip.  It has simple sentiments, which I adore.

I added an extra layer to this card just to give some additional oomph.  (I believe that is a word!)  The measurements are:  5 1/2 X 8 1/2,  5 3/8 X 4 1/8,  5 1/4 X 4, and  4 3/4 X 3 1/2

I have listed all of the colors I used and other products at the bottom of the post in the Supply List.  I have also added the flyer for the new dies that will debut in February.  You get the sneak Peek.  Thank You so much for stopping by today.  Please come back tomorrow for another new project.

Merci

Have you placed an order yet today?  The new Mini Catalog 2020 goes live today, as does the Sale-A-Bration Catalog.  I believe this Mini Catalog is a keeper.  I have preordered most of the sets already.  If you do not have a current demonstrator and need a catalog or have any questions, please contact me.  I would love to assist you!

I played with the new Parisian Beauty Bundle today.  I don’t know why I have waited.  I love the entire suite of products.  The designer series paper is some of the prettiest I remember.  And we have tons of beautiful paper.  Yes, I say how much I love products regularly, but it is true.  I do love Stampin’ Up! products and it seems they get better and better.

I really hated to cover up this gorgeous paper.  It is the Parisian Blossoms Designer Series paper.  But the Eiffel Tower needed its space , so I did what needed to be done. 🙂  It doesn’t show very well in the photo, but I stamped the tower with Petal Pink first.  The die cut tower is then layered over the stamped image and raised with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I did have to trim them a bit to fit.

To finish the sentiment, that beautiful “Merci”, I added a rhinestone from the Holiday Rhinestones.  It matched perfectly.  I will add that even with all of the holes in the tower it was not difficult at all to get the little pieces out.  Most simply fell out.  The news dies seem to be much sharper in regard to making the tiny cuts.

Measurements:

  • 4 1/4 X 11, scored at 5 1/2 and folded
  • 4 1/8 X 5 3/8
  • 4 X 5 1/4
  • 3 1/8 X 5 1/4
  • 3 X 5 1/8

Thank you for stopping in today.  Please return on Monday for another new project.  Also this coming Wednesday is the first of the Pals Blog Hops of 2020.

Candy Bar Holder

I have a candy bar holder to share with you.  This can easily be adapted to any size candy bar.  I found these large Hershey candy bars on clearance at my local grocery store.

You can see this is a fairly large candy bar.  I started with an idea from a pull out type holder I had received at a swap last year.  The bottom on that one was closed just by pressing together with Tear & Tape.  This is a hefty bar of chocolate, and I didn’t believe that would be sturdy enough. So I went with a more regular box closure.  I did keep the pull out idea though.

Here is a picture of the pulled out candy bar.

The Witty-cisms stamp set, new in the Mini Catalog 2020, was a must have for me.  I love the cute stamps and sentiments.  The strawberry and sentiment are one stamp and I stamped it three times to get the extra strawberries for decoration.

I die cut the tags using the Bonaza Die set tag.  I cut one from Thick Whisper White and one from Cherry Cobbler.  You could also use one of the tag punches from SU if you prefer.

The background paper was a leftover piece of Come To Gather DSP.  The ribbon is on the retiring list  as well.

The measurements are as follows:

  • 7 1/2 X 8 card stock
  • On 7 1/2 side, score at 1/2″, then rotate paper counter-clockwise
  • On the 8 side, with 1/2 score at the bottom, score at 3, 3 1/2, 6 1/2, 7
  • Fold and burnish on all the score lines
  • The 1/2″ score line is the bottom.  Cut off the small right edge piece next to the 7″ score line
  • Cut up the scores up to the 1/2 ” mark.  taper the small ones as tabs
  • Place Tear & Tape along the inside of the larger outside section as well as the bottom adjacent to it
  • Place Tear & Tape on the back of each tab.
  • Lay the paper down and fold the small section over, remeove the T&T from the large section and when folded over it should line up perfectly.
  • remove the T&T from the tabs and the bottom section.  Square up the box, fold in the tabs, the flap without T&T and then the one with tape.  once aligned stand it up on the table and use a ruler to go down and press on that bottom flap.
  • Use a hand held punch to center a hole through both layers near the top.

It took 17 ” of ribbon for this.  So it is a good way to use up some retired ribbon.  Run the ribbon from one side, through the other side and even it out.  Place the candy bar into the top of the box and push down while trying to keep the ribbon even on each side. You should have enough ribbon left to tie a nice bow at the top.

Thank you for looking in today.  I hope this gives you ideas for dressing up a candy bar.  If you have any questions, please contact me and I will be happy to assist you.

Poppy Love

I am sharing the Painted Poppy Bundle today.  I saw it at Stampin’ Up! OnStage in Atlanta last month, and I have seen other demonstrators’ cards.  Playing with it myself was still amazing!  The stamps and dies, as always, are awesome.

Poppies are very popular this year.  I have been seeing them everywhere.  I was looking at the little pocket calendars at Dollar Tree the other day and there were a couple with different poppy designs.

The border across the bottom is only half that size.  I stamped it twice.  For the large poppies, I die cut the solid flowers usig the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series paper.  The coordinating color is Poppy Parade (wonder if that was planned a while back/) so of course my outlines are in that color.

The leaf is cut from Mossy Meadow, another coordinating color for the DSP.  I secured it under the large flower and left the top part free to move around.  The sentiment is from another new stamp set, Positive Thoughts.  All of the sentiments are wonderful.  I used Old Olive card stock as the dividing layer as well as the Old Olive Stampin’ Blend for the border flower stems.  I liked the lighter color to pair with the Poppy Parade.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I have a candy treat to share tomorrow.
