Colorful Flowers

Today’s card is all about coloring.  With the beautiful Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper that is an easy and fun thing to do.

Stampin' Up!, Cottage Rose, Abigail Rose , Awash In Beauty, Embossing, Jackie Beers

This card is one I created for the Make My Monday Challenge.  The challenge is Coloring.  Any method is acceptable for the challenge.  Going with my favorite, I used the Stampin’ Blends of course.  You can join the challenger by clicking on the icon and adding your version of a card with coloring.

Papers

There are two different Designer Series Paper pack pieces used on this card.  The first is the Abigail Rose.  That pack is mostly florals and a few unique pieces.  Since I needed to color, I chose one of the flower patterns.  There was a 6X6 piece of this piece left from my Product Share.  Coloring the entire 6X6 piece made perfect sense.  Sadly I forgot to photograph the piece before fussy cutting this bouquet.  This bouquet of flowers is spaced all over the sheet.  Using Stampin’ Blends was a no brainer for me as they are my favorite means of coloring.

And the second layer of DSP is from the Awash In Beauty Designer Series Paper.  The Mossy Meadow layer fit perfectly with the darker of the leaves in my bouquet.  Choosing the bouquet from the edge of the paper was two fold.  It was my favorite, and the idea of attaching it to the edge was a way to showcase both papers to the best.

Stamps and Embossing

Since the floral bouquet was from a piece of DSP, there was no stamping involved.  But you generally need a sentiment.  So the Cottage Rose stamp set, which matches the Abigail Rose DSP, came in to the card.  Only using the simply done sentiment was a bolder move than I usually do.  By embossing the sentiment, it helped it to stand out more, and it tied it to the thin White layer of the card.  The hardest part was deciding where to place the sentiment!  Who would want to cover up the pretty bouquet?

The final touch was to add some bling!  Adding three of the Pearls Basic Jewels was a method of bringing in a bit more White plus bling.  Using three different sizes worked on this card with all of the open space on the green DSP piece.

Encouragement with Wine

Humorous stamp sets always grab my attention.  Today’s project is made with the A Little Cheesy stamp set and is actually a card of encouragement.  A Smile is a good thing.

Stampin' Up!, A Little Cheesy, Awash In Beauty, Rose Gold and White Ribbon

Stamps Set

A friend  needs a bit of encouragement so this card is for her.  Adding a little humor to most situations is fine.  And this is one of those times where it fits perfectly.  These type stamp sets  draw me in right away.    With the perfect name , this one is the A Little Cheesy stamp set .  There are fun images of a cookie, bowl of pudding, a wedge of cheese, and the wine.  All of the sentiments are similar to this one and just make me Smile!  Stamping and coloring this wine was a piece of cake using Pool Party Ink for the glass and Rich Razzleberry stampin’ Blends for the wine.

Layers of Paper

All of the colors were pulled from this piece of the Awash In Beauty Designer Series Paper.  If the colors are in the paper, then they are already proven to work wonderfully together.  Normally the paper is chosen first.  But this one was chosen second.   It was actually chosen because it matches the wine.  It needed to be bright and colorful to fit the encouragement label also.

Final Additions

To ground the stamped images, I added a strip of the Merry Merlot cardstock.  That did not seem quite enough texture.  So to add a bit more, I went with a piece of the beautiful Rose Gold & White Striped Ribbon.  It fit perfectly on the cardstock strip plus added texture and more depth.  For the final touch I used one of the 2021-2023 Opal Rounds next to the glass.  The yellow, which is supposed to be Pale Papaya, matches the yellow circles in the paper.  That pulls almost all of the colors into the card from the DSP.

Ranunculus Gift Box

Today’s project is not a card.  I have a Sneak Peek for you of a sweet box from the upcoming Mini Catalog.  It is paired with the Ranunculus Romance stamp set for a sweet young lady gift.

Stampin' Up!, Ranunculus Romance, Envelope Treat Box, , Hydrangea, Soft Succulent, Jackie Beers

Stamp Set(s)

This project began with the Ranunculus Romance stamp set so that is where I am going to start as well.   Needing a gift box ,or a card, sometimes leads us down different paths.  For this project I wanted to use the “collage” look of the Ranunculus Romance stamp set.  (Try saying that , or spelling it, a couple of times!!)  Even the little tag was pre-done as I have always loved that little tag from the Hydrangea Dies.  The sentiment is from the Hydrangea Haven stamp set.

The Gift Box

After stamping and coloring the flower, there just wasn’t a box I had in my pattern file that seemed to fit.  Luckily, I had received my pre-order from the July – January Mini Catalog.  And even better was that I had ordered the cute little Envelope Treat Boxes.  If you have your catalog already, they are on page 13.  They are pre scored and have adhesive already on them.  Best yet is there are ten boxes for $8.00.

Instead of having the closure on the top, I decided it needed to be on the bottom.  To ensure it stays closed, and to add the pretty flower, I added a Soft Succulent Belly Band.  There is a “collage” sort of stamping on what I am calling the top of the box.  So here are all of the photos.

You can see the stamping on the box here.

This is what I am using as the bottom of the box with the envelope looking closure.

It also has a second closure, which is wonderful for holding the surprise in place.

And here is the real treat!  There are six of the Merci Chocolates, and do you see the dark piece on the bottom?  That is a gift card!  Yes, it fits a gift card.  That is a winner in my book.

Belly Band Measurements

The belly band is loose enough that it slides off easily.  Soft Succulent cardstock is cut to 2 1/4 X 7.  Then score it at 1 3/8, 2 3/8, 4 3/4, and 5 3/4.  It is secured where it overlaps with Tear & Tape.

InKing Royalty June Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s June Blog Hop! As we prepare for the July 4 holiday ahead, we are sharing projects that celebrate the Red, White & Blue. Not all projects will be patriotic, but you are certain to be inspired by all of them. After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

My Red, White, & Blue cards are generally stars and stripes.  Today’s card went in a different direction after perusing the different stamp sets that would work.  Hopefully you will still like it.

Stampin' Up!, Alphabet, Best Label Punch, Breaking News, Painted Poppies, Decorative Circle Punch, Jackie Beers

Stamp Sets

This card is a very unique one for me only because of the number of stamp sets I used in making it!  It is difficult to say that one is the star over the others.  Picking one would probably go to the Alphabet Bundle.  It is very unique with having the outlines and Punch.  However all of the others play an important part.  The flowers are from the Painted Poppies stamp set.  They are colored with Stampin’ Blends in a not realistic coloring!

For the center cake, it comes from the Breaking News stamp set.  This is one that as soon as I saw it I knew it was for me.  All of the little images are the kind I really love!  Cakes have become more beautiful and creative over the years.  So this one received a striped coloring both inside and outside.  Those stripes are created using the same Stampin’ Blends.

Dies, Punches, extras

Placing the cake as the center of the card required a special layering.  The new Decorative Circle Punch has become a “Go To” for me lately.  It is a perfect size with just enough detail around the edges.  To add brightness to the layer, I went with the same color as the card base, Sweet Sorbet, and used the Layering Circles Dies.

My favorite of the card is the USA.  Those pieces were stamped from the Alphabet stamp and then punched using the matching Best Label Punch.  They come as a Bundle to save you 10% and it is one you will definitely want to get.  For the finishing touch, I added a few of the Iridescent Rhinestones to the blue, Starry Sky, area.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you’ll hop along to the next stop on the blog hop, Lisa Graham at Lisa’s Little Ink Spots. There’s lots of inspiration to be found in this group – and you don’t want to miss it!

Wild & Sweet Panel Card

The Wild & Sweet stamp set images are all gorgeous and somewhat large.  To showcase this I cut the image into panels after stamping.  It turned out better than expected.

Stampin' Up!, Wild and Sweet, Paradise Palms, Matte Black Dots, Layering Circles, Jackie Beers

Panda Bear

A Panda Bear is so pretty and this beautiful image is from the Wild & Sweet stamp set.  Three other animal images complete the set.  Large images, like this one, can be a bit difficult to use because they cover most of the card.  To help with this problem I pulled out an old trick.  After stamping and coloring the image, I cut the one piece of cardstock into three pieces.  The starting size is Basic White cut to 4 3/4 X 3 1/2.  After cutting 1 1/2 from each end, that left 1 3/4 in the center.  These layers are then added to Basic Black layers cut to 1 5/8 X 3 5/8 for each end piece and 1 7/8 X 3 5/8 for the center.

Sentiment Layer

Lovely fonts for sentiments are a weakness of mine.  Having two different fonts adds quite a bit to a simple two word sentiment.  It may be difficult to see from the photo, but the back layer of the sentiment is actually embossed using the Fern 3D Embossing Folder.  Both pieces are cut using Layering Circles Dies.  For a final touch there is a single Matte Black Dot added to the sentiment.

Speedy Recovery

With allergy season still going strong, I have a reason to use this adorable “Sleeper” stamp set.  It is the Speedy Recovery stamp set.  Each of the images are fun and not only for illness.  The one I chose to use is however.

Stampin' Up!, Speedy Recovery, Stylish Shapes, Solid Faceted Gems, Lovely In Linen DSP, Jackie Beers

Stamps

So far from the Speedy Recovery stamp set I have used two of the images.  This one is actually for someone who was not feeling well.  The other card is an Any Occasion card that I will share later in the week.  When I saw this tissue box, I immediately envisioned a real tissue added to it.   It only took a tiny corner of a tissue and a drop of glue to adhere to the stamped image.  But the depth it gives to the card is definitely worth it in my book.

The sweet and simple sentiment is included in the stamp set also.  Fonts are a favorite of mine.  And even though this is not a special one.  Just having the “clean and simple” look drew me to it.

Dies

The Die set I used is the Stylish Shapes Dies.  You have seen them recently and will continue to see them in my cards.  They are a mix of circles, squares and a few banners.  And best of all is that they are perfect sizes.  It is almost like the various square and circle punches Stampin’ Up! used to carry.  The Just Right sizes!  For the tissue box, I die cut the square from the Evening Evergreen cardstock.  And the sentiment is stamped and then die cut from Basic White.  To achieve the “stamped through” look, I cut a smaller piece of Basic White to adhere behind the Evening Evergreen square cutout.  The tissue box was small enough to easily center inside the opening.

Paper, Etc.

In addition to the Evening Evergreen cardstock I used the Lovely Linen Designer Series Paper.  The DSP piece could be for anyone and is a beautiful combination of the Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent.  Plus the pattern is simply pretty.  For the finishing touch I added a Solid Faceted Gem to the sentiment layer.

Bottled Happiness

There are a few different “bottle” stamps in the current catalog.  I love them because they remind me of childhood when all flowers pretty much went in a bottle or jar.  Definitely simpler times!  Today I am sharing my version of this using the Bottled Happiness stamp set.

Stampin' Up!, Bottled Happiness, Beautiful Shapes, Flowering Fields, Iridescent Rhinestones, Jackie Beers

Stamp Set

As mentioned this card stars the Bottled Happiness Stamp Set.  There are a few different size bottles as well as labels for them.  This bottle was simply stamped using the new Tahitian Tide Ink and then filled using Pool Party Ink.  Don’t you just love those flowers?  Thankfully it is a two step stamping, so it was very easy to line up the flowers and leaves.  The flowers are in Highland Heather with the leaves in Pear Pizzaz.

For the sentiment I went with the bright Tahitian Tide but added a little sprig of Pear Pizzaz along the side.  Actually the sentiment was a bit small for the shape and the little sprig was the perfect fix for that. To finish off the flowers, they each received one of the Iridescent Rhinestones.  These are so pretty and they take on a little bit of the color they are next to.  That is a great benefit!

Paper, etc

When doing my product shares I fell in love with this Flowering Fields Designer Series Paper.  The piece you see is a “back” side of the paper.  It has a great mix of colors from bright to softer like the piece I have used.  Instead of the Pear Pizzaz, the card base is Soft Succulent.  The two colors are sort of between the greens showing in the DSP piece.  A layer of Highland Heather breaks up the greens and highlights the flowers very well.

The area around the floral arrangement has squiggles of Pool Party like an old painting would have.  That is what the DSP piece reminds me of.  And the final touch is the shape of the sentiment layer.  It comes from the Beautiful Shapes Dies.  There is a bit of an embossed wavy line around the inside edge.  Unfortunately it does not show well in the photo.

June Pals Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!

This month, the theme is “CASE the Catalog” so the Design Team chose a card from the new Annual Catalog and has CASEd it with their own creative twist. We really hope that you are inspired by all the amazing creations the Pals are sharing with you! As you hop from blog to blog, we would love for you to leave a comment. You will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

My choice for the CASE the Catalog was on page 66 of the Annual Catalog.  This card features the True Beauty Bundle.  Having the matching dies, Organic Beauty, for this stamp set is awesome.

Stampin' Up!, True Beauty, Organic Beauty Dies, Double Oval Punch, Fun Flower Resin Shapes, Hues of Happiness, Jackie Bees

The Bundle

Having this many pieces in the middle of a card is quite different than my normal ones.  However in CASEing the catalog, my inspiration was a mix of the framed piece and the green card.  Both had layers of flowers.  Thankfully the die set makes cutting out the stamped flowers a piece of cake.  Plus it was just as easy to add a few of the pieces by simply cutting them out of colored cardstock.   And the surprising favorite is the lattice looking background piece.

You may remember a card from last week which had this same lattice look.  The piece is large so by cutting it in half, I was able to make two cards from the one die cut.

Paper

The bright and beautiful colors of the Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper were where the color choices came from.  This piece is actually what would probably be considered the “back” side of one of the roses pieces of the DSP.  But these are “Happy” flowers, so they became the star.  Sweet Sorbet has grown on me quickly and earned the starring role of this card.  Of course the Granny Apple Green and Daffodil Delight always pop as well as being in the floral paper.

Punches and Embellishments

It took some looking through products to decide on how to showcase the sentiment with all of the flower layers.   Finally one of my favorite punches won the place of honor.  It is the Double Oval Punch.  This punch gets used fairly often both together or one of the two used singly.  The scalloped edging adds a bit more texture, like more was really necessary, to the card.  And to finish this one, I added a few of the Fun Flower Resin Shapes.  These were not on my immediate order list.  But I am so happy to have them.  They almost match the flowers on the paper perfectly!

More inspiration awaits, so use the lineup below to visit the rest of the Design Team. The Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Then, please mark your calendars for our next blog hop on July 13th. Our theme will be “Create Your Own Background” when our Design Team creates a background using any technique they wish, such as stencils, stamping, watercolor, embossing but not DSP.

Until then, have fun in your craft space!

A Brew For You

Some stamp sets just speak to me.  Today’s card stars the Brewed For You Bundle.  This leans more to my younger days, but definitely is a fun reminder of a group of old friends.  A cold brew and grilling on a hot day are two peas in a pod.

Stampin' Up!, Brewed For You, He's The Man, Stylish Shapes, Resin Shapes, Jackie Beers

Brewed For You Bundle

As I mentioned, this stamp set fits different tastes.  There are glasses of wine, ale and a foamy beer mug for your favorite beer.  After seeing the foam piece to die cut I knew this would be on my first creation with this bundle.  Many years ago there was a similar stamp set and I used the Puff Paint to simiulate the foam.  Now this die makes it much easier!  And the sentiment is a perfect pairing.

Dies and Punches

In addition to the matching dies from the Brewed For You Bundle, there is a stand alone die set that I utilized.  The circle behind the beer mug. along with the larger banner of the sentiment, are from the Stylish Shapes Dies.  You have seen me use this set in the last week a few times.  It is so versatile!  The stitching on the inside of each piece is a great little detail.  To make the smaller banner I used the Banner Pick A Punch.  My sentiment was too large for the smaller banner in the die set.  But the two work perfectly together here.

Paper

A perfect pairing to the beer is this paper from the He’s The Man Designer Series Paper.  The grilling hints completes the card.  Nothing goes better on a summer afternoon than a cold beer while grilling.  Especially if it is done with good friends.  And the final touch on this card is one of the Star Resin Shapes from the Fans Suite in the Mini Catalog.  Think about grabbing those before they are all gone!

A Beachy Day

Today’s card is a Summer Fun challenge card.  A day at the beach is my idea of Summer Fun!  And the Paradise Palms stamps and dies are the perfect way to create that image.

Stampin' Up!, Paradise Palms, Palms Dies, Splendid Stems Dies, Fine Sparkle Gems, Blending Brushes, Jackie Beers

The Make My Monday Challenge, which goes live today, is titled Summer Fun.  My idea of that is sitting on the beach simply reading and enjoying the breeze.  You can join the challenge as well.  Siimply click on the image below and it will take you to the challenge page.

Colors

The beachy scene was created using Blending Brushes and Ink pads.  There were a few stamps used from the Paradise Palms stamp set.  But the majority was created by playing with the Blending Brushes.  For the horizon line, I simply used a scrap of cardstock and brushed below it.  The sun image is a bit of a 3D look.  There is a die in the matching Palms Dies which makes a sun or moon.  I used that and then adhered the circle to the layer.  By coloring over top of that it gave the extra dimension.

Dies

The dies and blended colors used on this card are much more the star than any stamps used.  To create the look of a peaceful beach I wanted a large palm tree.  The die in the Palms Dies was perfect.  This tree is larger than my focal layer.  And that is perfect.  It allows it to be a real focal point.

For the sentiment I had some difficulty in deciding where to place it.  Not wanting to disrupt the peace of the Horizon was an important consideration.  So in looking for a die shape I found the half circle die in the Splendid Stems Dies.  (These dies coordinate with the Splendid Thoughts stamp set.)  By placing it on the sandy area, the cute die shape doesn’t disrupt the view.
