Merry and Bright

I promise this is the last Christmas card for a little bit.  At least until I get my pre-order of the Holiday Catalog anyway !! This one is a 4 X 4 card.  I have really become attached to the smaller cards.  I used the new stamp set Watts of Occasions for this card.  The little lightbulbs are simply too cute to resist.

Watts of Occasions, 143867

I probably should have given the tree a little bling, but the Foil Frenzy Designer Series Paper is so bright that I was afraid it would not even show up!  This foil paper is so pretty and has a great Bling Factor!  Technically the foil paper is Lemon Lime Twist.  Shocking isn’t it?  But it really works with whatever green you put it with.

COLOR COMBINATION:

The background for the bulb is the new Starburst Punch.  It is a super addition to the Stampin’ Up! punch collection.  I stamped the lightbulb in Memento Tuxedo black and colored it with the Stampin’ Write Markers.  The sentiment is from the set as well.  It is stamped in Daffodil Delight and backed with Real Red.  Such a simple card!

MEASUREMENTS:

  • Always Artichoke = 8 X 4
  • Daffodil Delight = 3 3/4 X 3 3/4
  • DSP = 3 1/2 X 3 1/2

Christmas Spirit continues

I have carried the Christmas Spirit over into August.  This set was my favorite from last year’s Holiday Catalog and I am just thrilled that it carried over into the New Annual Catalog.  It is the Star of Light stamp set and Starlight Thinlits.  Here is my card.

Star Of Light , 142110

You will probably laugh, but this is an updated version of the card that I used as my Christmas cards last year.  I just exchanged last year’s Island Indigo for Dapper Denim.  But I did not have the beautiful DSP last year.  I believe the Color Theory Designer Series Paper almost outshines the star.  I am in love with this entire pack but especially the crackled sheets.

I stamped the star and starry tale in Dapper Denim .  The star and sentiment are on Shimmery White Card stock. The star is cut with the thinlits and popped up with a dimensional. I added a rhinestone to the center for some extra bling.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set and is stamped in Smoky Slate.  I stamped it in the center of a strip and then layer it over the corner of the DSP and trimmed it off.  I really like the look.

For the look of this card, it is actually very quick and easy to put together.  I hope you like it as much as I do and will give it a try.

Thank you for stopping by today.  The supplies I used are listed below.  By clicking on any of the items you will be taken directly to my Online Store.

Sunshine Wishes

Today’s card is a First for my blog, and not many more than that for my card making history.  It is a No Stamping card!  (At least on the outside).  Shocking I know…..  But I had been playing with the Sunshine Wishes stamp set and had an idea for a card utilizing the flower die cut.  That didn’t work out, which unfortunately happens sometime.  But I kept going and ended up with this card.

Sunshine Wishes, 141489

I fell in love with the background designer series paper! It is from the Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper pack.  All the sheets in the pack are amazing.  But this one just jumped out at me.  So instead of a blue background for my flower, I have Tranquil Tide.

COLOR COMBINATION:

There is a little of the Soft Sky in the DSP as well, and I feel like it softens the deepness of the Tranquil Tide for a beautiful combination.  The Daffodil Delight was a must for the flower, but I shifted tradition a bit and went with a Soft Sky heart.   I must confess that I originally thought the yellow (butterfly???) at the bottom , was a small flower.  I really am not sure which it is.  I started questioning it after I had placed it on the card.  So, no going back!!

I used the Multi-purpose Adhesive Sheets for the die cuts.  I know it is on backorder, but it is worth it’s weight in gold for adhering intricate pieces. Without it I would have a mess of glue everywhere!

I hope you enjoyed my No Stamping Card today.  I very much appreciate your comment

Just A Note

I have another cute little 4 X 4 card for you today.  This one is very flexible in terms of giving.  I love these kind of cards.  Sometimes you just need a “note” to send or give.  Both of the stamp sets I used for this card are the ones that you should consider for staples in your collection.  They are great sentiments and backgrounds to build on.  The background and flowers are from the Host Rewards Set – Background Bits.  And the sentiment is from the set Better Together.

Background Bits, 144029

I love using bright colors and soft colors together.  This card makes me think of the Day Lillies that I have in my backyard.  The rusty/orange color are always so bright and cheerful.  That was my color inspiration.

COLOR COMBINATION:

I realize that is way more colors than normal!  I sort of got carried away 🙂 But I believe they work well together.  The base of the card is the NEW Thick Very Vanilla card stock (Yay!)  with Cajun Craze as the strong layer.  The background stamping is all Sahara Sand.  The geometric lines are full strength Sahara Sand and the writing is stamped off once Sahara Sand.  The flowers are colored with markers on the stamp.  I used the Calypso Coral to totally color the flower portion and then just swiped the Daffodil Delight over the tip.  Be sure to wipe the tip of your marker each time after doing this technique. Otherwise you would end up just swiping the Calypso Coral again.

I did not want to add another layer to the focal point.  So I took the Cajun Craze marker and ran the side of it around the edge of the card stock.  It adds color there and is more controlled that sponging and less bulky than another layer of card stock.

Thank you so much for visiting today.  I hope you like the card and the little techniques I mentioned.

MEASUREMENTS:

  •     Thick Very Vanilla = 8 X 4
  •     Cajun Craze = 3 3/4 X 3 3/4
  •     Very Vanilla = 3 1/2 X 3 1/2
  •     Very Vanilla = 2 1/2 X 2 1/2

Oh What Fun!

I have a bright Christmas Card for you today to end the Bonus Days and Christmas In July specials for this month.  It does not seem like we are heading into August tomorrow. The information on both of the specials are at the bottom of the post.  But let’s get to the card first.

Oh, What Fun, 140386

Obviously the designer series paper dictated the color combination of Real Red and Garden Green.  This paper is Be Merry Designer Series Paper in the annual catalog.  I promise it is a Must Have!!  Every sheet is beautiful, front and back.

The designer paper did most of the work for me on this card.  I added to it by stamping the ornaments and the sparkle which came from the Carols of Christmas stamp set.  The Oh, What Fun came from the stamp set of the same name. And that is that!  So super simple and quick to make.  This would make an awesome Christmas card to make multiples of.

And now to the It’s Almost The Last Minute time…… The First specials are for a $5.00 coupon for every $50.00 order you place in July.  You can use the coupon for your August Order.  And there is no limit to how many $5.00 coupons you can get.  The Second, and best, special is the Starter Kit bonus price!  For the basic $99.00 starter kit, you will get $125.00 worth of product.  AND for one more day, you will get an additional $72.00 worth of products in SU’s Tool Kit.  (It includes 2 of the D clear blocks, a pack of Grid Paper, a Snail Adhesive, a Bone Folder, and Paper Snips.  Plus the new in the Holiday Catalog stamp set named Carols of Christmas!  Wow!! This is an awesome deal.  Plus you would be joining my team and becoming part of the wonderful group of InKing Royalty, which is led by Brian King.  Please give me a call and let’s discuss this.

Hello!

I have a cute little 4 X 4 card for you today.  It is a nice little card that could be used for any reason and wold be a super “Random Act of Kindness” card.  I used the wonderful stamp set Jar of Love.  It is one of my favorite sets and I was so happy that it carried over into the new catalog.

Jar of Love, 141587

This is a Smile card to me.  It is quick, simple, and brings a smile to the recipient (and the giver)!  My color combination came from the fish and jar.

COLOR COMBINATION:

The water in the fish jar is Soft Sky and I felt it was needed behind the white layer to soften the brightness of Pacific Point.  The hearts on the Pacific Point layer are from Jar of Love as well.  The wavy line was hand drawn using the Pacific Point Stampin’ Write Marker. And that is a sweet and cute card that anyone would appreciate receiving.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I very much appreciate your time.  Please don’t forget that the 2 Wonderful Specials for July are running out of time.  Both the Bonus Days and Christmas In July end on July 31st.  Contact me for more details.

You’re The Best

I am playing with a few of the Stampin’ Up! Host Rewards Stamp sets in the coming week.  Today is the first of them.  This card is made with the Tranquil Tulips set.  It is a beautiful set, and it just inspires you to try all colors of tulips!

Tranquil Tulips,143767

My color choices for today were just from me asking myself what would be a pretty tulip color!  This set makes any color beautiful.  So I came up with these.

COLOR COMBINATION:

The tulips are stamped in Rich Razzleberry without stamping off!  I intended to stamp off for the first one and forgot, so when I stamped the top layer I really liked it.  These are definitely easy to use stamps and very forgiving as well.  The texture covers up our mistakes.  So I did all of the stamping full strength and it still resulted in a variegated look.  Win/Win.

The sentiment is from Label Me Pretty and punched with the matching punch.  (You can get these as a great bundle).  I added the ribbon and even though it is Fresh Fig, it works wonderfully with the Rich Razzleberry.

Christmas In July InKing Royalty Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s July Blog Hop! It’s Christmas in July, and today’s Blog Hop is filled with projects inspired by … you guessed it … Christmas! What fun! Although Stampin’ Up!’s 2017 Holiday Catalog will be released to demonstrators this week (we can’t wait to share that with you), our Annual Catalog is filled with fun, festive and beautiful ways to make Christmas special. We are excited to share our creations with you today. After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

My card for this Christmas In July Blog Hop is made with a set from the Annual Catalog.  Actually all of the components are from the Annual catalog.  And it is traditional Christmas colors as well.

Oh, What Fun : 140386

Color Combination:

My color inspiration came from the designer series paper, as usual!  When I saw this sheet in the Be Merry Designer Series Paper pack I just knew it would make a beautiful card.  And I did not want to cover it up.  The sentiment and other design items are all from the set Oh, What Fun.  Such a cheery name for a really versatile stamp set.

I stamped the sentiment , which has a berry sprig attached to it, with Memento Tuxedo Black.  To keep from having a black berry sprig, I placed reusable tape over the sprig before I inked the stamp.  (I almost forgot to remove the tape before I stamped…LOL…so don’t tell anyone!) There is a stamp in the set of a berry sprig as well.  I stamped it in old olive on both sides of the sentiment and then colored the berries with a Cherry Cobbler marker.  The above and below line is also included in the stamp set.

I made the layers with the Lots of Labels Framelits.  To finish off the card I added a loop of the Old Olive Mini Chevron Ribbon.  The layers of the sentiment are raised with SU’s wonderful dimensionals.  To me this is a traditional Christmas card.

I hope you liked my card from products in the annual catalog.  I cannot wait to share more Fall and Christmas cards with you when the Holiday Catalog arrives.  But in the mean time, please give the sets in the annual catalog a second glance.

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you’ll hop along to the next stop on the blog hop,  Lisa Pretto at Ink Big Academy Stamps.

Fabulous

This is my second card using the super cute stamp set “You’ve Got Style”.  This lady is just adorable and a super “smile” card maker.

You’ve Got Style, 143898

I did not use any designer series paper today.  That alone is unusual.  I also did not start with a color combination or even a plan.  I know, crazy!  I stamped the lady and her kitty and then started coloring.  I used markers this time instead of watercolor pencils.  I wanted a bolder look.

After I got everything colored, I then decided on a color scheme and knew that it had to be bright.  Therefore Real Red and Daffodil Delight seemed to fit perfectly.  Since I did not use any designer paper, I felt like it still needed some background design.  I looked around and came up with this stamp from Oh So Eclectic for a random background pattern.  I think it worked perfectly.  Also, I could not leave off some “Bling”.  So the necklace and the kitty each received a small rhinestone for some sparkle.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I very much appreciate hearing from you and reading your thoughts on the card.

Thank You For Caring

Today’s card used a technique that I rarely do, but always love the results.  And maybe it isn’t really a technique per se.  It is stamping on your Designer Series Paper instead of just using it as a layer.  The results are usually very nice.  Here is what I did for today’s card.

Definitely Dahlia, 139911

This card definitely falls under Quick and Easy layout. There is really not very much to the card and the layers are simple.

The color combination came from the Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper. Wow! That’s a big name. But the paper lives up to that name.

Color Combination:

Other than the beautiful DSP, I simply stamped the Definitely Dahlia stamp with Fresh Fig ink and the sentiment with Tranquil Tide ink.  The sentiment is from the Label Me Pretty stamp set. The sentiment contains a tiny heart, but I wanted to add Fresh Fig to it , so I added an Enamel Shape Heart over the tiny heart.  And that is the extent of the card.  I hope you enjoyed it today.
