Snowy Hugs

Before I get to today’s project, I wanted to remind you that the Kit Sale is going away soon.  It is over on Halloween!  So if you have one, or more, that you have been considering now is the time.  You cannot bet the 30% off.

I have a a sweet Winter card to share today.  It is not necessarily a Christmas card as it is more of a Caring card.  I thought the set was adorable when I first saw it.  And I am just now getting around to inking it up.  It is a fun one for sure.

Stampin' Up!, snowman hugs, snowy scenes, everyday details, pearls, jackie beers

Stamp Set

This sweet snowman and bunny scene is a single stamp from the Snowman Hugs stamp set.  I think it is a perfect one for friends and even as a thank you during this coming Winter months.  And even better is the perfect sentiment included in the set as well.  There are a couple of snowmen along with a few sentiments that are funny and sweet.  I hope you will take a look at it in the Mini Catalog.

The image is stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then colored using a variety of Stampin’ Blends.  All f them are listed in the Supply List at the bottom of the post. The colors are all pulled from the paper.  I may have taken some liberties with my snowman’s vest.  I used Poppy Parade for the trim and bow tie and then both of the Shaded Spruce for the vest.  The vest has plaid markings.  The overall is the Light Shaded Spruce with the striping being the dark Shaded Spruce.

Papers

This fun paper seemed a perfect match for the snowman.  It is from the Snowy Scenes Designer Series Paper.  This is a great pack that I almost overlooked.  It has snowy scenes like this on one side and then fun plaid, snowflakes, and candy canes on the other sides.  There is something for any Winter card.  I use the Candy Cane piece on another card for later in the week.

The card base and layer were also from the DSP.  I pulled the very light Pool Party as the card base.  I love this color and use it as a highlight fairly often.  Then to help the DSP pop, I added a layer of Poppy Parade.  Once I began putting everything together I felt like I needed to ground the snowman.  So a thin strip of the Poppy Parade did the trick.

Extras

To give the sentiment a little extra, I used the Everyday Details Dies.  These Dies have large holes punched around the pieces.  But the smallest circle is this one I used.  It has smaller stitching and works great here.  To finish the scene I needed some bling.  I could not decide on what would work the best and decided on some color.  But there is not really a Poppy Parade bling.  I fixed that however.  All I had to do was color a few pearls with the Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blends.  Easy Peasy!!!

Pop Up Floating Card

My card today is a fabulous one, and a little different.  It is actually titled as a Pop Up Floating Shadow Box card.  That is a mouth full, but is well worth the trouble.  And there is not really a lot of trouble once you see how it goes together.

Stampin' Up!, Autumn Leaves, autumn leaves dies, to market, caring leaves, garden green, jackie beers

This is the view of the card folded flat for mailing.  No problem with the thickness that I can tell.  But here is the really fun part…..

This card is so adorable!!  I love it.  Especially the way it stands up.  This is not an original card to me.  I cased it from Lisa Cursio.  She has a video that you can check out.  The title is the Pop Up Floating Shadow Box.  I have done a PDF Tutorial that might help you as well.  I used it for a class I held.  It is attached at the bottom.

Stamps and Dies

There are two stamps sets that I used.  The decoration for the inside of the card White and the front of the floating shadow box are leaves from the Caring Leaves stamp set.  These are two step leaves that I have recently fallen in love with.  They are a hidden gem in the back of the Mini Catalog.  I stamped all of them with Pumpkin Pie ink.  The filler stamps have the definition to them so even full strength ink looks lighter.

The second Stamp set has matching Dies.  It is the Autumn Leaves stamp set that was a carryover to the Annual Catalog.  Both sentiments are from the set.  And the Die cut leaves on the front and the inside are from the matching Die set.  They have great detail to them.

The Dies used to make the floating layers and front layers are from the Deckled Rectangle Dies.  I used the 4th from smallest to cut the window.  And used it again for the Garden Green layer on the front.  The next size down was used to cut the White layer on the front and the green layer of the floating part.  And then the next size down was for the sentiment of the floating.  Layering Dies are simply the best to have in your stash!

Papers

The papers of this card are very simple.  I kept the layers thin since I was folding a couple of layers when closing the card.  It is unusual for me to not have a layer of color between the base and the DSP.  But not on this card. The pretty country flowers are from the To Market Designer Series Paper.  I had chosen Pumpkin Pie as the card base for a Fall look and this paper matched perfectly.  And the DSP is what picked the complimentary green of Garden Green to highlight everything.

Corner Tuck Card

I have shared a few different cards using this layout of late.  However this one adds the little corner tuck.  It is a fun addition and one I hope you will enjoy.

Stampin' Up!, flowers of beauty, unbounded beauty, shy shamrock, circle punch, jackie beers

And here is a view of the card open.  You can see that it is very similar, when opened, to a couple I have shared recently.

Papers

These fun papers are what makes this card in my opinion.  I love being able to mix patterns.  Plus pairing them with the Shy Shamrock for the card bases was unusual for the inside panel, but works anyway. All of the DSP is from the Unbounded Beauty Designer Series Paper. I have used this paper quite a lot.  It is a favorite with the floral and faded looks each sheet has.  One side is a beautiful floral pattern with the reverse being a faded solid color.  I used one of those on the front of the small card.

All of the additional colors were pulled from the DSP.  The Shy Shamrock of course, but also the Petunia Pop, Pretty In Pink, and Shaded Spruce.  You cannot go wrong when using the DSP as the color coach!

Stamps & Bundle

The stamps used are all from the Flowers of Beauty and Unbounded Love. These, along with the DSP, are part of the Unbounded Beauty Suite of products.  The sentiments are the ones from the Unbounded love set as it is a sentiment set with some fabulous matching dies.  Although I did not utilize those dies.

The floral images are all from the Flowers of Beauty stamp set.  Using the little leaf on the inside of the small card seemed to tie everything together.  It was stamped using Shaded Spruce Ink.  And the die cut greenery on the front of the card is also from the set and stamped with the same ink.  Plus I used the matching die to cut it out. As well as the die for the flower.  I used the 2″ Circle Punch for the sentiment layer for a simpler look there.

Finishes

To layer the sentiment focal point is to me part of the finishes.  I tried layering and raising different parts of it.  But I also had to add bling.  And it needed to stand out a bit.  So I turned to the 2024-2026 Resin Dots in the Shy Shamrock color to be the bling.  It was a great size and in addition does not add any further height as they are fairly flat.  Additionally, if you ever purchase full Suites of products, they are included in the Unbounded Beauty Suite along with both stamp bundles, the DSP, and Glimmer Paper.  The Glimmer Paper was the only Suite item I did not use.

Measurements

This is a card that looks difficult and in fact is very simple to do.  It just takes some cutting of paper.

  • The card base is Shy Shamrock cut 6 1/2 X 5 1/2 and scored at 2 1/4
  • The White layers are 4 X 5 1/4 for the inside, and 2 X 5 1/4 for the left front flap
  • The DSP is 3 7/8 X 5 1/4 for the nside and 1 7/8 X 5 1/8 for the left front flap
  • The corner Tuck piece is Shy Shamrock at 1 7/8 X 1 7/8 cut in half diagonally (you can make two of these)
  • The White for the corner is 1 3/4 X 1 3/4 cut in half diagonally
  • The DSP for the corner is 1 5/8 X 1 5/8
  • Only adhere the corner tuck piece on the left and bottom, NOT along the long straight edge.
  • The small card is Shy Shamrock at 5 X 3 3/4 scored at 2 1/2
  • The White is 2 @ 2 1/4 X 3 1/2 (one for theinside)
  • The DSP is 2 1/8 X 3 3/8

Peace & Joy

I occasionally shy away from the Specialty cardstock as it generally only contains a few sheets.  The one I am using today is not one I could pass up.  The Regal Distress DSP is an “Oh My”.

Stampin' Up!, festive words, regal distress, cherry 7 gold satin ribbon, shaded spruce, jackie beers

Papers

These pretty papers are the stars of this card.  I saw this angle cut on Pinterest and new it was a win to get the most cards from these papers.  The Regal Distress Specialty Designer Series Paper is a great name for these sheets.  They look very Regal to me.  And to extend their numbers for layers, I found a way to use half on each card.

Each piece is cut to 3 3/4 X 5.  By making a tick mark on the back side of each (the back is plain white) at 3 1/2, turning 180 degrees and again at 3 1/2 on the other side.  I then cut from mark to mark.  It leaves this simple angle.  And the papers cut in this fashion will make two cards. The card base is Shaded Spruce to match the tree color in the focal layer.

Stamp

This sweet stamp is from the Festive Words stamp set.  It is located towards the back of the Mini Catalog.  There are no matching Dies so it is just the stamp set.  There are four stamps in the set.  This tree, a stocking, a bell, and a top hat.  Each stamp has a simple word(s) on the image.  They are perfect for quick cards.

The images is colored using Stampin’ Write Markers.  These are perfect to color Red Rubber stamps.  I used Shaded Spruce for the tree, Real Red for the sentiment, Early Espresso for the trunk, and Crushed Curry for the star.  Stampin’ Write Markers are only available in a color family.  Sadly these are unavailable right now.  But…the colors I used, with the exception of the Early Espresso are all from the Regals family.

Finishes

There are only two additions to this card I have not mentioned.  The first is the Cherry Cobbler & Gold Satin Ribbon.  I placed this at an angle across the joining line of the two papers.  And the second is a simple Iridescent Pearl added to the star of the tree.  I did at the last minute round two opposite corners with a retired corner rounder to help the layer stand out a bit.

Thank you for visiting today.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Baking Sweets

The stamping retreat from a few weeks ago may have been cut short due to the hurricane, but we were still able to share some awesome projects.  I have changed up a little of one of them to share with you.

Stampin' Up!, sweetest star, red and white peppermint, real red and white twine, jackie beers

Stamp Bundle

This sweet bundle is appropriately named!  It is the Sweetest Star Bundle.  Plus it is a Punch bundle, these are my favorite kind.  In addition to the gingerbread star, there are also Mr. and Mrs Claus stars.  The card from the retreat that I cased, had the gingerbread stamped and White embossed.  The designs really stood out.  I wanted to see how a simpler version would do as I have quite a lot of customers who are not big fans of heat embossing.

My gingerbread man is stamped with Real Red Ink on Crumb Cake cardstock.  I wanted a “soft and chewy” cookie.  LOL!!   By using a White Gel Pen I could color inside the outlines to make the frosting.  Additionally the Sweet Wishes stamp is included in the set.  It is stamped in Real Red Ink as well.  The end of the strip of paper is flagged with Paper Snips for a fun cookie look.

Papers

The two different pieces of DSP are both from the Snowy Scenes Designer Series Paper.  I love the soft peach snowflake piece.  It is beautiful and different.  And the candy cane piece is perfect for a cookie card.  Both of these are layered on Real Red cardstock.  I chose Crumb Cake as the card base when I chose it for the cookie.  The only additional touch of White is the sentiment, and the inside layer of course.

Finishes

To compliment the busy DSP papers I kept the finishes simple.  The added Real Red & White Bakers Twine made an adorable little bow for the gingerbread cookie.  And a single addition of a red & white peppermint at the tip of the sentiment highlights it and the peppermint.

Measurements

  • Card base is Crumb Cake 4 1/4 X 11
  • Real Red layer is 3 3/4 X 5, and the candy cane Real Red layer is 1 1/2 X 4 1/2
  • The snowflake DSP is 3 5/8 X 4 7/8
  • The candy cane DSP is 1 3/8 X 4 3/8

Much Appreciated

I have an adorable little Appreciated card to share today.  The various touches are fairly sweet and feminine.  There are a mix of small touches.

Stampin' Up!, wonderful thoughts, eyelet embossing folder, rhinestones, lemon lime, granny apple, daffodil, jackie beers

Bundle

It is a little difficult to decide where to begin in the products used.  The Wonderful Thoughts Bundle has a large and small part in this card.  The simply sweet sentiment is from the stamp set.  And the simple, yet pretty, die cut flower is from the matching Die set.  I rarely do a White on White card.  So this was a little twist to that.  White with a touch of color.

Background

This embossed background is the Eyelet Embossing Folder.  I almost skipped over this in the catalog because it seemed more feminine and simple than I usually do.  Of course then I began seeing cards using it, and like always, I had to have it! LOL!!  These little eyelets were the perfect choice for this card I believe.

Colors

To provide the touch of color that allows the Die cut flower to stand out was simple.  Thinking in terms of the colors the flower might be, Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight, and Lemon Lime Twist were the easy choices.  And to not have the sentiment be too loud, it is stamped on the Lemon Lime Twist using Granny Apple Green Ink.  All of these colors really compliment the White on White of the base and background.  And help the little flower to pop.

Finishes

This card is so clean and simple that it did not require much in the way of add ons.  A small touch that really adds to it however is the rounded corners.  On each of the color strips there are opposite corners that are rounded.  Any corner punch you have will work.  And then to finish everything there had to be bling.  After layering everything else, the bling was simple to place one Rhinestone on each of the strips.

Vertical Easel Card

I am sharing a pretty card today that is a bit of a twist on your regular easel card.  My friend, the Paper Pixie, shared this card and I fell in love with it.  The star of the card is the gorgeous Splendid Autumn DSP.

Stampin' Up!, splendid autumn, nested essentials, autumn expressions, shimmer gems, old olive, fresh freesia, jackie beers

Papers

These sheets of DSP from t he Splendid Autumn Designer Series paper pack are beautiful and created by the Stampin’ Up! Design Artists.  Those folks are seriously talented.  This sheet I used doesn’t necessarily say Autumn, but was so pretty that I used it anyway.

The other colors were pulled from the DSP of course.  I chose a darker background of Old Olive for the card base.  And with the pop of Basic White for a layer everything seems to really shine.  The most difficult to choose was the sentiment layer.  I ended up with Fresh Freesia.  But I held up every light pinkish purple we have to see which looked best.  The Fresh Freesia was a definite winner.  Plus it further takes it away from Autumn.  This shows the range of uses with this package of DSP for sure.

Stamps

The beautifully scripted sentiment is one of two from the Autumn Expressions stamp set that I used.  The other is on the inside of the card.  I wanted something that was bold and would stand out from the papers.  This worked both in size and beauty.  It really gets the sentiment across to the recipient!

Extras

The extras on this card are simple as is everything else.  I used the two largest of this rounded rectangle frame from the Nested Essential Dies.  They really named this Die set appropriately.  It truly is an essential between the circles, rectangles and banners.

The second “extra” is a simple one.  I used a single bling to adorn the sentiment layer.  This is one of the lighter pinks from the 2024-2026 In Color Shimmer Gens.  The boldness of the sentiment really did not need much assistance to stand out.

Measurements

The measurements are simple.  However, The Paper Pixie on 10-09-2024 episode demonstrated this.  She has the video as well as measurements on her page.  NOTE:  The mechanism which allows the sentiment layer to stand free is the trick to this card.  My first time making it, I adhered the panels prior to adding this mechanism.  Don’t do like I did!!

  • The card base is 5 1/2 X 8 1/2 scored at 2 1/8 and 4 1/4.
  • The inside White is 4 X 5 1/4. The two front panels White measures 1 7/8 X 5 1/4 each.
  • The DSP was cut down from 6 X 6, to 6 X 5 1/8. Then cut two strips that are 1 3/4 X 5 1/8 and one that is 1 X 5 1/8. Keep these in order to show the scene properly. You also have a leftover piece for later.
  • The mechanism is a piece of Fresh Freesia measuring 2 X 2 that is scored at 1, turned and cut at 1. This leaves two 1 X 2 pieces that are scored across the middle.
  • After adhering the DSP to the two White layers, add a mechanism to the underside of the inside , centered, of each. You are adhering the strip under the white and in the center which leaves the other half standing up.  Place these so they are back to back when the two panels are attached to the card.
  • After stamping and Die cutting the sentiment layers, fold the mechanisms over their panels and add adhesive to them.  Now simply center the sentiment over top.  This allows the sentiment to swing free when the panels stand up.
  • The final step is to adhere the inside White panel. Next add the thin DSP strip, WITH Dimensionas against the right edge.  The DSP strip is the bumper for the easel and needs the height from the dimensionals.

Again, if this is confusing, The Paper Pixie has a great video.

Cheer

Today’s card is a bit different than my usual ones.  I have created a “window” scene.  This one is like looking through the trees.

Stampin' Up!, reindeer fun, reindeer days, earth tone shimmer gems, mossy meadow, jackie beers

Stamp and Die Bundle

This card was created using the Reindeer Fun Bundle.  Not only are there Dies to cut the adorable reindeer from, but also this beautiful little “window” you can create.  I cut through the front layer of the card and added the DSP with Stampin’ Dimensionals to give it some depth.  It makes me think of some of the Christmas cartoon movies where you are seeing the animals decorating trees and having fun.

The sentiment is also from the stamp set.  I really debated how to showcase it.  There are several layer Dies that would fit this larger sentiment, but I felt they would take away from the “window”.  So I opted to go extremely simple and just Fussy Cut it.  By going along with the shapes in the wording it gave the sentiment a different look.  It may not have been the best choice, but it works.

Papers

The card base of Mossy Meadow was pulled from the DSP you see.  Plus the Mossy Meadow is an appropriate color for the fir tree looking branches of the “window”.  This fun DSP is a sheet from the Reindeer Days Designer Series Paper.  Here is a look that you see on the inside of the card.  I also added a touch of lights from a different sheet in the pack to enhance the tree decorating idea.

I love seeing that bold plaid on the inside.  And you see the sentiment from yesterday’s little mouse card.  The only finishes are the Earth Tone Shimmer Gems that I used to decorate the front sentiment.  They look like they have nailed it down for me.

The Christmas Friends set was the first on my list from the Mini Catalog.  You all know how much I love the animals the Stampin’ Up! designers create.  This set is a keeper for sure.  In real life, mice are one of the things that seriously give me the creeps.  However, this little guy is just precious!  He is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then colored using Stampin’ Blends.  They are listed in the supply list at the bottom of the post.

Papers

This sweet paper, that matches the bell on the mouse’s tail, is fabulous!  This is a sheet from the Reindeer Days Designer Series Paper.  Somehow when doing my preorder I missed this paper.  So once I received a pack I was ready to begin my Christmas cards.  Since this is a fun card, I used Granny Apple Green to pair with the Real Red of the DSP sheet.  A thin Basic White layer helps make the DSP pop.  I also used those colors for the song book the mouse is holding.  And of course his bell had to be Real Red with a Granny Apple Green bow.

Extras

To make this a card that could easily be made in multiples, I used punches for the focal layers.  I used the 2″ and 2  3/8″ Circle punches for the circles behind the mouse.  These are so easy to simply punch away!  This sentiment is also from the Reindeer Fun stamp set.  It is one long sentiment and that did not work on this layout.  So I cut it in half and then did a tad bit of fussy cutting around the “R” and “S” of Christmas.  Now I liked how the sentiment fit.

To complete the card there had to be bling!  So I added a single Rhinestone Basic Jewel next to the mouse.  For a little more texture, I added a double strand of the Real Red & White Bakers Twine with a double bow.  It doesn’t show a ton, but does give some texture and help ground the circles.
