My card today is a fabulous one, and a little different. It is actually titled as a Pop Up Floating Shadow Box card. That is a mouth full, but is well worth the trouble. And there is not really a lot of trouble once you see how it goes together.
This is the view of the card folded flat for mailing. No problem with the thickness that I can tell. But here is the really fun part…..
This card is so adorable!! I love it. Especially the way it stands up. This is not an original card to me. I cased it from Lisa Cursio. She has a video that you can check out. The title is the Pop Up Floating Shadow Box. I have done a PDF Tutorial that might help you as well. I used it for a class I held. It is attached at the bottom.
Stamps and Dies
There are two stamps sets that I used. The decoration for the inside of the card White and the front of the floating shadow box are leaves from the Caring Leaves stamp set. These are two step leaves that I have recently fallen in love with. They are a hidden gem in the back of the Mini Catalog. I stamped all of them with Pumpkin Pie ink. The filler stamps have the definition to them so even full strength ink looks lighter.
The second Stamp set has matching Dies. It is the Autumn Leaves stamp set that was a carryover to the Annual Catalog. Both sentiments are from the set. And the Die cut leaves on the front and the inside are from the matching Die set. They have great detail to them.
The Dies used to make the floating layers and front layers are from the Deckled Rectangle Dies. I used the 4th from smallest to cut the window. And used it again for the Garden Green layer on the front. The next size down was used to cut the White layer on the front and the green layer of the floating part. And then the next size down was for the sentiment of the floating. Layering Dies are simply the best to have in your stash!
Papers
The papers of this card are very simple. I kept the layers thin since I was folding a couple of layers when closing the card. It is unusual for me to not have a layer of color between the base and the DSP. But not on this card. The pretty country flowers are from the To Market Designer Series Paper. I had chosen Pumpkin Pie as the card base for a Fall look and this paper matched perfectly. And the DSP is what picked the complimentary green of Garden Green to highlight everything.
