Go For It

I am not sure why masculine cards are , or at least seem to be, hard to make.   What if masculine cards are our everyday cards just in a different color?  I believe the project I have for you today is one of those cards. It does not scream masculine, but the colors I chose lean that direction.

This is a really quick card to make.  The longest time part is the embossed basket weave.  And now after my opening paragraph, I can see this done in lighter colors and perfect for anyone.

I am not sure why I got on the masculine talking point.  Maybe because this card was intended for a male???  Who knows with me.  But I hope I have given you food for thought.

Thank you for stopping by today!  I really appreciate it and hope you will return tomorrow for another new project.

Sailing with Pigment Ink

The title of today’s challenge is Mixed Media.  I believe that can be a variety of things.  To me, it means different techniques, and layers.  So I have a couple of layers and a little different technique.

I will confess up front that I used the old group of pigment colors and not the new ones.  I thought they were the same just in different packaging.  Silly me!!!  Oh Well!  My bit of an odd “technique” could also be called “saving a mess!”  I used Shimmery White card stock and wet it thoroughly with an aqua painter.  I then sprinkled the pigment powder on the wet surface.  Unfortunately, I had been overzealous with the water!!  It was in little puddles.  So I took two different regular white card stock pieces that were handy and layer them, one at a time, on top of the mess.  When I picked them up, the results were very good.  This is the second piece I played over top of the mess.  It is a tad lighter, but I like the look I got.  So the moral of this story is…..don’t give up on your “messes” ! 🙂

After my background dried, I stamped the birds and smaller sailboat on it with Gray Granite Ink.  I also stamped the larger one in the same ink but on a scrap piece of paper.  I then used the matching die set to cut out the larger boat and the Ships’s wheel.

For more texture and layers, I added the Burlap Ribbon and the White Flax Ribbon in two strips at the bottom section of the card.  The stamped piece is raised with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I also added one of the metallic pearls to the center of the ship’s wheel.  I did not like the hole that is i the center showing.

Again , Thank you very much for stopping by today.  I hope you will come back tomorrow.  The complete list of supplies is at the bottom of the post.

A Classic

Today’s card is one that is masculine but could be used as a Father’s Day or any other reason.  I used the Geared Up Garage stamp set , which is a great one for any guy, or gal, who loves cars.

Geared Up Garage, 148590

Everything I used, except for the card stock, is part of the Garage Suite.  I love the coordination of our Suites of Products.  Actually the card stock is part of the Suite as well.  The colors come from the designer series paper.  Tranquil Tide and Crushed Curry are perfect and unexpected at the same time.

Did you notice the little accessory hanging off the ribbon?  It is hard to see, so here is a close up of it.

These Classic Garage Metal Elements are also part of the suite.  I think they are awesome.  I chose to use the key since I had showcased the car.  There are also wrenches in the set.  They are all perfect additions to the card.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you liked a masculine card for a bit of a change.  All of the supplies are listed at the bottom of the page.  I also have the retiring products link for you as well.

If you place an order with me, please use the April Host Code of 3KNKXJFH.  If your order is $75.00 (of product) or more, I will send you a small gift.  If it is over $150.00 (of product) I will send you a small gift, but DO NOT use the code. 150.00 is the minimum host rewards so you get the host rewards.

You’re A Classic

I love the title of this post.  “You’re A Classic” could mean you are fabulous.  Or it could just mean you are old enough to be considered a classic, like a nice car.  I hope I fit into both of those definitions! LOL!

I have used the Geared Up Garage set once previously.  You can see that post HERE.  Today’s version is a bit different.  I love the simple layout used today.  It is one that could be used with any stamp set.  The best part is that it doesn’t use a lot of designer series paper.  Not that I do not have a ton of it to use!!

Here is the card:

Geared Up Garage, 148590

I love the designer series paper that is part of this suite of products.  It is Classic Garage DSP.  There are keys (that I used above), gas cans, gauges, steering wheels, drag marks, etc.  It is the ultimate car/guy paper.  And it is a 6X6 stack.

The only thing I did a bit differently is that I stamped the car on the upper section of the oval die cut.  That way the banner could cover the bottom and I didn’t cover up too much of the gorgeous DSP.  Also, I love that the DSP has the Basic Gray in it.  I rarely use that card stock and after using it here, I am in love with it again.

Thank you so much for visiting today!  I do apologize if you came by on Friday and there was not a new post.  I obviously had my days mixed up!!  It was mid day before I realized it and I was not at home to make and post.  I guess I had one of those “Classic” moments!  LOL!!

The measurements are listed just below here and the supply list is at the bottom of the post.

Masculine Birthday

My title may be a bit misleading.  This does not have to be a masculine birthday card.  It just is not a “frilly” birthday card.  Plus, I tried to be more generic in the colors I chose.  I used the Hello Cupcake stamp set from Sale-A-Bration because it seems to lend the more simpler, less frilly, air about it.  You can decide for yourself though.

Hello Cupcake, 149714

Hopefully you can see the possibilities with this set even though I went with a simpler version.  Bright colors would make this a really fun and young card.  I will try that next.  Since I have been using really bright colors, I thought I would go for the more light and generic colors today.

This is a one stamp set card.  Those are great for quick , take on vacation, and beginner stampers who do not have a lot of products.  Truthfully, I love to make one set cards.  I believe it really shows the value of a set when you can make a card, or more, using only that set.

COLOR COMBINATION:

The only non-simple thing I did on this card, and actually it is a simple thing to do!!!!  I stamped the icing on the layer and then on a scrap of paper.  I cut out the one on the scrap and raised it with dimensionals to give some depth to hang over the base of the cupcake.  The sprinkles are stamped in Mossy Meadow on the Soft SeaFoam, but left uncolored.  To tie the base of Crumb Cake to the greens, I wrapped Linen Thread (One of my all time favorite go tops!) around the stamped image layer.  The bow is tied separately and attached with a glue dot.  ***Another trick I learned long ago, when I discovered how difficult it is to tie a bow on a continuous length of ribbon and have it lay properly!

MEASUREMENTS:

  • Base is 4 1/4 X 11
  • Layer is 4 X 5 1/4
  • Layer is 2 3/4 X 4 1/8
  • White Layer is 2 5/8 X 4

Thank you for visiting today!  I hope you will return tomorrow for another fun card.  As always, the supply list is at the bottom of the post.

Jump Start

It is so hard to make masculine birthday cards most of the time.  And it is even harder to make masculine Valentine Cards.  Most valentine cards are sort of “mushy” or at least that is guy speak for I don’t want any part of it!! LOL!!!  Well, today I have a non-mushy valentine card.  I hope you will think that it fits that description.

Geared Up Garage Bundle, 150610

Some guys may be thinking that the car jump starts their heart!  I know there are some who really loves classic cars.  Hopefully this will work for your guys as well.

This is also a very quick card, which makes it one of my favorite kind.  All it took was some cutting, two stamps, and one crank of the Big Shot. Woohoo!!

The touch of red is a bid towards the female classic of black and white with a pop of color.  I thought of that when I saw the black DSP from Classic Garage Designer Series Paper.  The red is actually the reverse side.  How convenient is that?

The sentiment is stamped and then die cut.  The two pieces are created from one die.  It embosses the little ends and cuts out the center all at once.  I think it would be great to heat emboss the sentiment on a different color and then pop it into the center.  But I wanted to keep things simple on this card.

Thank you so much for visiting today.  I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s blog hop and today’s card.  I will have another project for you tomorrow, so please come back.  And as always, all of the supplies are listed at the bottom of the post.

MEASUREMENTS:

  • Base card of Basic Black = 4 1/4 X 11
  • Whisper White = 4 1/8 X 5 3/8
  • DSP = 4 X 5 1/4
  • Red DSP strip = 1 1/4 X 5 1/4
