World Double Fold

If you follow my blog, and I hope you do!!, then you know how much I love different folds.  I have a couple of new ones to share this week.  I had a doctor’s appointment last week and forgot my book.  So I spent quite a while looking at Pinterest and seeing different ideas to CASE.  I generally case layouts and folds, but as stampers we are always getting ideas from different places and things.  Today’s Fun Fold is a Case of fellow Demonstrato Patty Bennett.  She actually shared her version of this card last Tuesday.

For my version of the Fun Fold, I used the Beautiful World Bundle, and paired it with the World of Good Designer Series Paper.  The left side of the front is a new Sneak Peek DSP it is the Classic Christmas Designer Series Paper.  It paired perfectly with the other DSP.

Actually the Classic Christmas DSP is part of a bundle of products that will be available for purchase in November.

Here is another view of the Fun Fold.

I love how this fold allows the continuity of this gorgeous DSP.  It would work with any paper, but a pattern, that is cut correctly, really looks great.  And it is simple to cut once you see the card.  I chose the map and the simple black globe from the Beautiful World for a clean and masculine look.  The globe layer is a Crumb Cake layer cut using the Stitched Rectangle Dies.

Here is a totally opened up view.

There is not a lot of room to write your note, but I believe it is adequate.  This sentiment seems just perfect for the narrow piece of Whisper White.

Here are the measurements for the card and the cutting.

  • Base of card is 5 1/2 X 8 1/2 scored at 1 1/2 and 4 1/4
  • Fold and burnish all of the score lines.  The short fold, folds backwards onto the front.
  • Cut the DSP to the proper orientation. In this case to landscape (sideways) and cut to 6″.
  • Then cut the height to 5 1/4.
  • Now place back in landscape mode and cut at 2 3/4, and 1 1/8.  This leaves the last piece at 2 1/8.  All are 5 1/4 high.
  • Look at the closed photo.  You  will see that the front DSP goes from the small folded flap over to the right edge of the card.  It does not just fit on that narrow flap.
  • Adhere the pieces beginning with the 2 3/4.  Open the card and adhere the 1 1/8 on the right side of the center section.  Adhere the last piece to the left side of the back section.
  • The Whisper White layer with the sentiment is 1 7/8 X 5 1/4.
  • I added the front left DSP because my focal layer was the same as the base layer.  It is the Classic Christmas DSP and is cut 2 1/2 X 5 1/4

Thank you for visiting today.  I hope you enjoyed this new fun fold and will do a CASE yourself.

Winter Woods

I have a woodsy, masculine card to share today.  Yesterday was our 40th Anniversary!  Wow!  When you are first married, you never think of reaching a large number.  Anyway, I have been playing with the Skinny Cards and that is what I made.

Stampin' Up!, Winter Woods, Tasteful Touches, Jackie Beers

This card does not scream romance!!  But my husband likes peace and quiet.  So that was where I was going with my idea.  That said, this card would work for a lot of people in your life.

The background is sponged using Old Olive and Balmy Blue Inks.  I stamped the Winter Woods trees in Soft Suede.  They are a group of trees. So I started with the ones to the left of center, then added a couple further left, and finally the ones to the right.  I did use the little grass stamp to define them and give some texture to the ground.

The sentiment is from Tasteful Touches stamp set.  I added the 2020-2022 In Color Dots in Cinnamon Cider for a highlight.  The ribbon is the Faux Suede Trim.  This is the first time I have used it and I Love it!!!  It is soft and very easy to work with.

Here are the measurements for today’s card:

  • base is 7 1/2 X 8 3/4, scored at 3 3/4
  • layer is 3 1/2 X 8 1/2
  • white is 3 1/4 X 8 1/4
  • sentiment base is 3 3/4 X 1 1/2
  • sentiment is 3 1/2 X 1 1/4

Thank you for stopping in today.  I hope you had an enjoyable weekend and ready for a week of new projects.

Masculine Nature

The card I am sharing with you today is very nature / rough / woody and fairly masculine.  It started out as an idea from a sketch I saw.  And as happens fairly often, it became totally different than intended.  I like it anyway.

All of the stamped elements are fromthe Rooted In Nature stamp set.  I also used the matching dies for the leaves.  The background DSP is from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper.  All of those sheets are gorgeous and are either stone or wood.

The sentiment is from the stamp set and is the three wordings one above the other.  I stamped them and then cut them out with my paper snips.  To give them more oomph I layered them on a piece of Cajun Craze card stock and then fussy cut again.  These are great for fussy cutting because they are simply straight lines, and not very long either.

Thank you for stopping in today.  This card was a bit different than my normal, but that can be a good thing!

Be Happy

I am playing along with a sketch challenge today.  In looking through my stamp sets for the one to use, I ran across one that I have not used in quite a while.  It is carrying over to the new catalog so I did not feel too bad for having snubbed it lately.

Yes the stamp set is Rooted In Nature, and it has the matching dies of Nature’s Roots.  This is for the Case This Sketch challenge #374.  It is a Retro Challenge, so the sketch has a different number on it. And here is the sketch.

I really think this is a great sketch.  It leaves a lot to the imagination.  The background could be very busy or very clean.  I went with the clean look.  And that is very different for me!

I used two of the new 2020-2022 In Colors, Cinnamon Cider is the card base, and Bumble Bee is the background layer.  I embossed the background using the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.  I love the little bit of definition that folder gives.

The tree is from the stamp set.  I colored it using my Shaded Spruce and Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Markers.  Markers are the must have for coloring directly onto the rubber.  The tree is cut out using the matching die.

The sentiment is one solid sentiment from the stamp set as well.  It is stacked on top of each other and I wanted to spread them out to give more focus on the sentiment.  So I used my sharp Paper Snips and cut each word out and then glued them down.

The embellishments are from the 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots.  You know how much I LOVE and use little embellishments like this!  I chose to go with the Cinnamon Cider ones here.

I hope you will give this sketch a try as well.  I could do another one that would totally different.

Thank you for stopping by today!  I hope you have a good Monday!

Geared Up

Even though the Geared Up Garage stamp set is carrying over, I realized I had not used it often and especially had not used the accessories.  So I had to fix that little issue and made a card that is quick, cute, and masculine.

I love this car as a masculine card, but it could very well be a female card with her favorite car color.

For this one I began with Crumb Cake card stock, Layered Soft Suede that I embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.  And then topped it with Very Vanilla card stock.

The Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder is a new one and is Super!  It looks like a furniture fabric to me.  Or a more deeply embossed version of the Subtle Embossing Folder.  I think it will join the Subtle Folder for a “perfect for any card” type go to background.

The car is stamped in Soft Suede with Sahara Sand as the “exhaust” !  When I first saw that stamp and tried to figure out what to do with it, that is what I saw.  I hope I am not the only one who sees exhaust or dust coming from the back of the car.

For the sentiment, I stamped it in Soft Suede as well.  Both layers are cut using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. To add the little Key, I used a 10″ piece of Linen Thread.  I placed the thread centered over the front of the sentiment and went around back and then back to the front with each end.  I tied a knot, added the key on one of the strings, and tied another knot.  I do love how that little key makes a big different on the card.

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you have a great weekend.  I look forward to sharing more projects with you next week.

Adventure

I have a sneak peek of new products to share today.  This Suite is going to Wow everyone.  Especially if you love to travel, as I do!  It is the World Of Good Suite of products.

I know we are all on hold for our travel plans, as well as most plans, right now.  However, I can still plan the next trip and remember fondly those I have already made.  This stamp set is so pretty and I am only using a portion.  The Designer Series Paper is World Of Good DSP.  The map piece is GORGEOUS!  It is in the new In Color Cinnamon Cider with Bronze Highlights.  Oh My!!  The map is of Europe and is very easy to see the locations.  I really hated to cover it up.

The compass is another of the sheets from the DSP.  And you can really see the awesome color of the second new In Color of Misty Moonlight.  That is by far my favorite of the new colors.  The base of the card is from that color as well.  As is the ribbon!  Love, Love, Love it!!!

I used probably the lesser of the stamps in the stamp set, but they fit the idea I had in my head.  I stamped the feather in Gray Granite Ink and then the ink well and sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black.  The additional little details are three of the 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots.  I have always loves using the various enamel dots Stampin’ Up! has carried and these are in the best colors ever.

I have a tip for cutting the angle of the sentiment layer.  I have the written directions and then two photos.

  • The piece of Whisper White is cut to  2 7/8 X 3 1/4
  • With the 2 7/8 across the top, place the top left corner on the 3/4″ mark on your paper trimmer.
  • Place the bottom right corner on the 1″ mark of your trimmer.
  • Cut off the angle that has.

Thank you for stopping by today.  Please let me know what you think of my project and odd shapes.
