Pals April Blog Hop

Welcome to the Pals’ Blog Hop! While the COVID 19 pandemic is adding stress to our lives, we Pals hope this blog hop will help to lift your spirits. Let us inspire you to take a creative break and relax for a little while. This month our theme is “Special Occasions” where we have made a project for just about any occasion you can think of! You’ll find the full line-up below to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

My choice for a Special Occasion card is a Graduation Card.  I feel badly for all of the graduating students this year.  I know most look forward to walking across the stage.  So I tried to make a bit of a different card.

I hope it appears to you as a graduation cap!!  Here is the inside with it’s funky fold.

I used a variety of stamp sets for this card.  They will all be listed in the supply list at the bottom of the post.

I love different folds and had made a similar card to this when a neighbor’s son graduated a few years ago.  Sadly in looking for it, I realized it was before I began my blog.  So I had to go by memory and a card on Pinterest.   The card I started with is from Chris Sloger from 2014.

For the front of the card, I used the Witty-Cisms stamp set with the Layering Circles Dies.  The Congratulations stamp is from the I say Hello stamp set and it cut using the Rectangle Stitched Dies.  The “tassel” is Night Of Navy and Whisper White Bakers Twine.  The White twine is a bit thicker, which required the circles to be raised with double Stampin’ Dimensionals.  This might be a bit difficult to mail due to the thickness of the folds and the tassel layer!

I especially love the “point of the cap” and the mimic of that on the inside layer.  The star from Morning Star stamp set, seems to fit perfectly in the pointed section.

Here is my video of basic instructions.  I also have written instructions at the bottom of the page from before I added the video.

More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Mark your calendars for Wednesday, May 13th, when we will say “Goodbye to January Mini and 2019 Annual Catalog and/or Hello to 2020 Annual Catalog.” The Design Team will showcase their favorites from the retiring catalogs or new products from the new catalog. Don’t miss the fun! And, until then, please stay safe.

Directions:

  • Card Base is 4 1/4 X 11, score at 5 1/2. Then make little marks at 3 3/8 and 7 5/8. Rotate 180 and make the marks on the other side.  If you imagine connecting the marks you should have a long X.
  • Line up the marks from opposite sides using your Simple Scored (I have a black marker line down the 6″ score line of my SS so it shows up very well) or use your Paper Trimmer and scoring blade.  Using the scoring tool, connect the two marks.  Rotate the paper and repeat with the other two marks.
  • Fold on all of the score lines.  Crease well with your bone folder.
  • For the inside layer, cut to 5 1/4 X 4, Make a mark on the 4″ side at 2″. Rotate to the5 1/4″ side and make a mark at 2″. Rotate 180 and make the mark on the opposite side at 2″.
  • Using your Paper Trimmer, line up the mark on the 4″ side and one of the longer side marks and cut off that triangle.  Repeat for the opposite side.

So Proud

I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s InKing Royalty Blog Hop.  There were some great ideas for birthday cards.  You can see my post by clicking HERE.   And you can go thru the full hop from my page.

Today I am sharing the Morning Star stamp set.  It is a sweet stamp set that pairs with the Stitched Stars  Dies that were part of the Holiday Catalog.  The stamp set they were paired with in that catalog retired, but the dies carried on.  I love that Stampin’ Up! is extending the life of dies and punches.  That is so nice on our pocket books!  Here is today’s card.

The flowers on the card are the morning glory flowers and vines.  Some may consider them weeds actually.  I always thought they were pretty first thing in the morning.  I used the Rococo Rose for the flowers and Pear Pizzaz for the vines.  They are my flowers and don’t have to be the correct color.  I love the Rococo Rose.

I used the flowers as background for one of the larger of the Stitched Stars dies.  The center star is two sizes smaller.  I stamped the star stamp with the Rococo Rose as well.  The stars are raised with Stampin’ Dimensionals for depth.

I have loved the Scalloped Linen Ribbon since it debuted.  I just never seem to have the proper place for it.  Today’s project is Perfect!!!  I paired the ribbon with the new Label Me Fancy Punch.  I punched out the sentiment, which is from the stamp set.  I also used the ribbon slot that is part of the punch.  There are guides on the bottom of the punch on each end of the slot to assist you in lining it up.  I was very pleased at how easy it worked.  I usually have a backing for my sentiment layers.  With the ribbon slides and the sentiment like a buckle, I did not feel it needed a backing.  You will see me using that punch a lot more now that I have played with it!

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you liked today’s card and will return tomorrow for another one.

The Ultimate Bundle is the Stampin’ Up! Starter Kit.  During Sale-A-Bration you get the extra value for your $99.00.  If you have a wish list or are ready to place an order and it totals close to 99.00, please read this first.

Wishes For You

I have been using the well loved retiring products for a while with only a sneak peek of new items.  Today I have another new suite to share.  And the paper is AWESOME!!  I know, I tend to love all the Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper.  But if you have not seen the Perennial Essence DSP, be prepared to be in awe!  The piece I am showing today is beautiful but not close to the prettiest of the pack.

Stampin' Up!, Floral Essence, Perennial Essence DSP, Perennial Essence Vellum, Leaf Punch, Jackie Beers

I wish I could paint like this DSP.  It is a beautiful watercolor.  You almost hate to cover it up with anything.  I was sweating when I stamped the sentiment onto the DSP.  I love the unexpectedness of that.  But I am always saying a small prayer to not mess it up!

The flower is from the Floral Essence stamp set.  I stamped it and colored with the Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blends Combo.  It is fussy cut with my sharp Paper Snips.  The vellum leaves are just perfect for the softness of the DSP I believe.  This suite of products has , not only the Perennial Essence DSP, but Perennial Essence Vellum!  A definite WOW!  There are several soft shades of vellum that match the DSP.  This is definitely a suite where “I Want It All!”.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  I hope you like this card.  It is a bit different than my usual cards.

Cheers To You

I have some awesome new products to show you at the bottom of the post. So don’t close out too soon!  But let’s get to the card of the day first.

The layout I have used for today’s card is one that would work for pretty much any card.  And I adore it!  It is also great for the scraps we all cannot stand to through away.  The layers can be adjusted actually so that they would fit the scrap pieces you have.  Isn’t that a great idea?

Itty Bitty Birthdays, 148618

I planned this card as a Birthday card, but in adding the categories that it wold fit, I realized this sentiment is an awesome one.  It would be great for a Graduation, which is coming up real soon, or a retirement.  And probably a few others.

The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set.  I love all of the “Itty Bitty” type sets.  They are the perfect size and usually cover almost any occasion, even the more unusual ones.  Or at least ones that you do not use very often.

I have not used a lot of Grapefruit Grove card stock, so decided to remedy that today.  It is one of the colors in the pack of this gorgeous DSP.  It is the Happiness Blooms Designer Series Paper.  I also used Night of Navy as the DSP backing , and Pineapple Punch for the sentiment backing.

Thank you so much for stopping in today.  I hope you enjoyed today’s card and will return tomorrow to see another new project.

Your Special Hug

I am back to regular card making for today.  The series of items from my Tea Tin gift was different for me.  It was nice to venture out of the norm.  But now I feel like I need a Hug.  And that is what today’s card is all about.  I have used the Hedgehugs Stamp Set to create a quick and easy little card.

Hedgehugs, 145879

This card is so bright and cheery that I think it would work for just about anyone, and for a lot of occasions.  I adore that sentiment telling you that you are special.

COLOR COMBINATION:

There are quite a few of the new Stampin’ Up! Colors that I am particularly fond of.  These two are at the top of the list.  They are both very vibrant.  Maybe not the typical woodsy colors, but who cares!

I have listed all of the supplies at the bottom of the post.  Even though my card has a lot of pieces, it is really quite simple and quick.

Thank you for stopping by today!  I very much appreciate it.  I hope you have a great weekend and will come back on Monday to see another project.

It is still a great time to become a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator.  I would love to have you join my team.  A great perk for demonstrators this time of year is getting to see the new catalog first.  Then we get to order and play with the new products a month early.  For me, that is one of the best parts of being a SU Demonstrator.  Of course, the discount helps!  If you are interested, please contact me and let’s talk.

Congrats Graduate

It seems it was just graduation time a short while ago and here it is again.  Today’s card is perfect for a graduate or a teacher.  This is one of the new Host Rewards Stamp sets in the upcoming catalog.  It is my favorite of those sets.

Hand Delivered, 146808

Isn’t that stack of books so appropriate for a graduate?  I love it!  I paired the stack with the Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper.  I am a sucker for polka dots and this pattern with all the great colors has been a favorite go to for me.  I paired it with the crumb cake background and Soft Sky layers.

In case you didn’t really notice, this is a pull out type card.  It is hard to see my pull tab on the light background.  I designed it so that you could add a gift card on the inside if you wish.  Here is a picture of the pull out part.

This is a simple but cute card and is very easy to adapt to any stamp set or occasion.  Thank you for visiting to day.  I hope you will return tomorrow for the InKing Royalty Blog Hop.
