Sailing Congratulations

The new Sailing Home stamp set is one of my favorites.  It has great details in the stamps and the matching dies are awesome!  A side note is that the lighthouse die for Sailing Home will also fit the lighthouse in High Tide.  I love double duty products.

After saying how nice the dies are, I did not use them for the project.  Oops!!  However, I did use the gorgeous Designer Series Paper this suite has.  All of the products in the suite are wonderful.  I have several more ideas with this suite of products.

For today’s card, I stamped the lighthouse and the birds using Gray Granite Ink.  I know it looks a little on the brown side, but I really did use the gray.  I think it changes colors a bit.  Plus my photo seems a tad dark.  The base and layer behind the lighthouse are Night of Navy.

To add the sentiment, I decided I wanted it to look like a tag.  The Congrats is part of the stamp set and I love the font used for it.  I decided to punch it out with the Classic Label Punch.  To make the short tag from the longer punch was very easy.  I stamped and punched with the sentiment at one end of the punch.  I then took the punched label and fed it back into the punch from the cutting area, not the outside like you would to make the original punch.  Because the height is already cut, it makes it fairly simple to get it lined us straight.  And now you have a half size Classic Label.

I added the Night of Navy Baker’s Twine as “rope” for the nautical card.  I wrapped it around and taped it on the back.  I then cut a small strip to tie around the front and tied a knot.  To attach the sentiment, I simple added a glue dot under the end and layer it just underneath the baker’s twine.  I left the end not attached.

Thank you for stopping in today.  I appreciate it and hope you will return tomorrow.  The supply list is at the bottom of the page.

Magnolia Hello

The most time consuming part of producing this card was the coloring.  And that is not very much.  I was pleasantly  surprised with how it turned out.

This card measures 4 1/4 X 4 1/4.  So it will fit in a regular A2 envelope.  I love square cards in that it makes cutting the layers very easy and doesn’t challenge my math skills.

I stamped the Magnolia with Soft Suede ink.  I like the softer look it gives to the flower.  I colored the stem with Crumb Cake and the leaves with the Dark Mossy Meadow.  For the flower, I colored the center and some of the defining lines with the Light So Saffron.  So Saffron is one of the NEW Stampin’ Blends available in the new annual catalog.  Of course I snapped all of the  new ones up right away.

Even though I used So Saffron Card Stock and Stampin’ Blends, I used Crushed Curry Ink for the Hello stamp.  I wanted it to be a bit stronger color to go with the darkness of the Mossy Meadow leaves.

Thank you for stopping in today.  I really appreciate it and hope you will return on Monday.  The complete supply list is at the bottom of the page.

Bee Thankful

The stamp set Bee Thankful is not a new one.  It is a carryover and I realized that I have never used it in a project to share with you.  I love this cute stamp and had to go back to check that I really had not posted a project.  Oh My!!  So here is a quick and easy share of this sweet Bee.

I think the little Bee is just adorable.  And the way his, or her, eyes are looking is super cute.  I shared this card with my Stamp Club the other day.  One of the ladies said she would cut off the Bee so she could use him all the time.  I love that idea.  I have cut away sections of stamps myself.  The first time is always the hardest!!

I wanted a bit of texture to go along with the large stamp.  To do this I simply added the Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder to the Crumb Cake layer.  To bring in a bit of a brighter color, I added the Purple Posy card stock layer and colored the little flower with the Purple Posy Dark Stampin’ Blend.

You know how much I love to color, so I know it wasn’t a shock to see I had colored the stamped image with Stampin’ Blends.  I will go back to other methods soon, I promise.  For this stamp, I colored the letters with Light Crumb Cake, the leaves with Light Mossy Meadow, and used both of the Mango Melody on the Bee.  I like the look that using the lighter color on his face gives.  I think it’s a bit more of the 3D look.

Winds of Change for June InKing Royalty Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s June Blog Hop! This year’s Blog Hop themes are inspired by a single word – and this month our projects are centered around NEW. With the launch of Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Annual Catalog, NEW gives us the opportunity to showcase new products and play with new colors. There are also new occasions (babies, weddings, graduations) to celebrate, so you are going to see a variety of projects in this hop. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

My card reflects two of the NEW theme ideas.  I am showcasing a NEW stamp set, Winds of Change.  I looked at this set when I received my catalog and it was a must have.  As you know, I love to color with the Stampin’ Blends, and this set is perfect for coloring.  I also LOVE to travel.  Next month I am going on another Viking River Boat Cruise.  And we begin in Amsterdam!  I have never been to Amsterdam before, so this is my second NEW for the theme.  I am so excited about the trip, and am equally excited to share my card idea with you.

Even the sentiment on the card goes along with the theme!  I googled Amsterdam and looked at all of the windmills for some color inspiration.  They are typically brownish, but the blades can be different colors. I added just a touch of the Granny Apple Green to my blades to match the bottom section of the windmill building.

All of the pictures I saw were in vibrant colors, so that is what I went with.  I always prefer a mix of colors in flowers,  so I mixed my tulips and then added a whimsical touch with the butterfly.  The butterfly is from the Hold On To Hope stamp set and the Cross of Hope Framelits.  I colored it with Granny Apple and Daffodil Delight markers then die cut it.

The sentiment is done with my favorite new technique.  I used the Rectangle Stitched Framelits and cut to fit the size I needed.  (As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, there are several videos out there on how to do this little trick).

Friendship

Sometimes my visions of what a card will look like and the outcome do not exactly match.  This is one of those cards.  However, I am ok with the result enough to share it with you.

My original idea was a fence with a sign on the gate.  I ended up with a gate.  So I am going to say that it has swung open and that is why no fence is next to it.  🙂

I started with the Follow Your Art Designer Series Paper.  This is one of the reverse sides , as I call them. The gate is embossed with the Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder after being stamped with the Crackle Paint background stamp first.  I used the Classic Label Punch to make the hinges.   I cut it into two pieces and added Metallic Pearls.  The door knob is the punched out hole of the Delightful Tag Topper Punch.

For the sign I used the Rectangle Stitched Frames.  I shortened the frame that was wide enough for my sign by cutting it out.  I then went back and attached the die back to the cut out piece at the length I needed.  There are several videos out on how to do this.  It is quite easy once you wrap your head around it.

The butterflies were just happy add ons from the same stamp set.  I used the Old Olive, Coastal Cabana, and Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Write Markers to color the butterflies.   I forgot to say this is the Beauty Abounds stamp set and the Butterfly Beauty Dies.

Thank you so much for visiting today.  Tomorrow is the InKing Royalty Blog Hop!!  I hope you will return to see all of the great projects.
