Retiring List

I do not normally do a second post in one day.  But this is worth letting you know.  You may be aware that Stampin’ UP! is changing the catalogs cycles a bit.  The current Annual Catalog will retire on May 3 this year instead of beginning of June.  This means that the Retiring List is out NOW!!!!

There are a couple of things to be aware of:

  1. Items are available as supplies last. So first come, etc.
  2. Some items are discounted.  Those items will probably go quickly, or at least first.
  3. Retiring In Colors go pretty quickly.  If you want Ink refills and cardstock then order NOW.
  4. The list can be a bit confusing.  Pay attention to the coding at the bottom of the page.  Stamps and Dies that are part of a Bundle may carry over.  But the Bundle goes away.  So you may see a Bundle listed on here.  The code will tell you if the set is actually retiring or is just not going to be part of a bundle where you get the 10% discount.
  5. And for me, please use my host code at the bottom of the page if you place an order with me.

Click on the picture below and you will open the PDF of the list.  Enjoy!!

Big Sigh

I am playing along with the Paper Players Challenge with today’s card.  It is the first time I have tried one of their challenges and this is a fun one.  It is animals and Clean and Simple with lots of white space.  If you know my style…..that is not my normal card.   I will let you be the judge.

Here is the Challenge banner.

The beginnings of the card is another “Found on my desk” item!  You would think by now that I would be down to desktop!!  I found the negative to a die cut from the Painted Labels Dies.  I used the negative and the new Blending Brushes to make the background.  The beautiful blue is the Seaside Spray Ink.  It was difficult for me to only use the card base and White!!

The Sloth is from the Back On Your Feet stamp set.  I love these sweet images depicting oopsies in our lives.  Humor is always a good thing.  I stamped the sloth in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored using Stampin’ Blends.  I highlighted his bandage with Light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blend on the edges instead of leaving it plain.  The final touch was just the sweet “Sigh” sentiment from the stamp set.

Now that I completed the card, I find that I really like this Clean look!  You may be seeing more of this type card in the future.

Awesome At Any Age

Today’s card is a simple masculine birthday card.  I see posts regularly asking about masculine cards with comments that they are difficult.  I agree somewhat in that quite a lot of the stamps seem to be geared towards females.  And we like to add embellishments to those cards.  I think of masculine cards as more “simple”.  I mean that to be just “less”.  I would love to know your thoughts.

stampin' up!, soar confidently, itty bitty birthday, well suited, jackie beers

This card is for a dear friend and I tried to adhere to the thoughts I expressed above.  I knew when I first saw the Soar Confidently stamp set that it would be great for masculine cards of any age.  Most guys I know love flight.  And when I saw this piece of the Well Suited Designer Series Paper, I immediately thought to stamp on it.  I love the grid look.

The strip of DSP is the opposite side of the grid paper.  I hesitated just a second because it is Poppy Parade.  But I knew it needed some color.  So the base of Pacific Point and the layer of Poppy Parade are both from that strip of DSP.

With the simple Memento Tuxedo Black stamped airplane, I needed a touch more of texture and brightness.  I went with the “Awesome At Any Age” sentiment from the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set.  (I love all of the Itty Bitty sets!)  I tried all of the punches and came to the Label Me Fancy for the sentiment layer.  It made me think of military dog tags, which made it perfect since the friend is retired military.  For a backing layer I went back through all of the punches I have.  When I tried the Tailored Tag punch I was happy.  It frames the first tag almost perfectly.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you have a great day and will come back tomorrow.

Wildly Happy

I have a quick and cute baby card to share with you today.  Although if you changed the sentiment it could be for most any occasion I think.

This is from the adorably cute stamp set named Wildly Happy.  It is several different animal images and each have a baby with them.  I have gone back to the Annual Catalog for this stamp set.  The Annual Catalog time is winding down and this may be one going away.  I do not know that, but about half of the catalog generally does.

I paired the adorable elephants with the Playing With Pattern Designer Series Paper.  I love this stripe!  I added some Pretty Peacock cardstock as it is sadly going away for sure as it is one of the 2019-2021 In Colors.  I will be sad to see all of those colors going away 🙁

The elephants are stamped and then just highlighted with the Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends.  I added a few scribbles of Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Blend to the bottom as grass and to tie in the color.  I die cut the elephants using the largest of the Stitched Shapes Circles.  The addition of the stitching , as well as the size, allows these cuties to stand alone without a background layer.

To break up the stripes just a bit, I added a strip of Pretty Peacock cardstock along with a smaller Terracotta Tile cardstock strip.  This helped to ground the elephant layers as well as the attached circle sentiment.

Thank you for checking in today!  I do very much appreciate you following my page and projects.  Just a reminder of my mention above regarding the 2019-2021 In Colors retiring.  They generally sell out prior to the end of the catalog.  So if any of these are your favorites, I would suggest ordering now and avoid the rush and/or missing out because they are gone.

A Note With Heart

I am giving some love to a stamp set that I feel has been sort of left out in all of the great sets in the Mini Catalog.  This is the Lots Of Heart set.  It is a really sweet set with three different hearts and some cute sentiments.  I made a quick Note card that I am really happy with.

As you can see there is not a lot to this card.  But Notes are usually pretty simple.  I have been trying to incorporate the Retiring In Colors this month.  Sadly they will be gone before we know it.  For this card, I paired Pretty Peacock with Granny Apple Green.  Both of these colors, surprisingly, work well with quite a lot of other colors.

The DSP is from the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper.  It has Granny Apple Green and the Pretty Peacock in a fun pattern.  To match the pattern of the DSP, I embossed the banner with the Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder.  I see diamonds in the DSP and thought it was a great match.  The banner was made using the Banner Triple Punch.

The heart is from the Lots of Heart stamp set.  I stamped it in Granny Apple Green and used my paper snips to cut it out.  It was very easy to do.  Yes, there are matching dies and I did not even think about it until after I had fussy cut!  LOL!!  The sentiment is from the stamp set as well.  It is stamped in Pretty Peacock and then cut using the Classic Label Punch.  For the finishing touch, I added a single one of the White Resin Hearts.  It really pops against the Pretty Peacock Banner.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Remember that the 2019-2021 In Colors will all be retiring at the end of the current Annual Catalog.  That is on May 3rd.  Most likely the In Colors will all be sold out by that time if history repeats.  I do know that Rococo Rose is already on low inventory.

Amazing

Today’s card has a star item from an unexpected product.  I have combined the In Bloom Bundle with a die from the Suite & Tie Dies.  Can you guess which die?

If you guessed the Pocket from the Suite & Tie Dies, then you are correct.  I was trying to come up with a smaller focal point.  In perusing through Pinterest I found an older card using a large pocket die that pretty much covered the front of the card.  I immediately thought of this small pocket and went to work.

The DSP is the 2020-2022 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack.  It is one of the Just Jade sheets.  The pocket is the back side of the larger piece. I raised it a bit using Stampin’ Dimensionals before tucking the flowers in.  The flowers are all from the In Bloom Bundle dies.  The stitching on the flowers is a perfect touch without you having to add anything.  They are Magenta Madness, White, and Bumblebee.  I have a single leaf mixed in there using Shaded Spruce, but it is a little hidden.

The sentiment is from the In Bloom stamp set and a favorite saying of mine.  I stamped it with the Bumblebee Ink and then added a trio of the Magenta Flowers.  To finish off the card, I added a few Rhinestones in some of the flowers.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I love finding a die or other product that an be utilized outside of the set it was intended for.  I think of it as More Bang For Your Buck!
