Adventure

My card to share today is another one which has a cute little critter and a touch of whimsey.  It began with the Walk In The Woods stamp set.  After debating on how to showcase the stamps, I came up with a bit of fussy cutting and some DSP to create the scene.

The mushrooms and little hedgehog ( at least I think that is what he is?) seemed perfect for a watercolor look.  They are made almost like a pen and ink drawing, so a bit of watercolor goes well.  I used Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends along with Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends for the mushrooms.  The hedgehog is colored all over with Light Crumb Cake Blend and highlighted with the Dark Crumb Cake.  For the finishing touch I colored the background , white area, with Pool Party Light Stampin’ Blend.

After fussy cutting the stamped images, I found the perfect piece of DSP in the Artistry Blooms Designer Series Paper.  I love how the green fades from one shade of green to another to.  I added a piece of Crumb Cake Cardstock as a layer on a Granny Apple Green card base.

The sentiment is from the stamp set.  Since I have the white edge of the fussy cutting, I simply stamped the sentiment and cut using the Classic Label Punch.  Can you believe this punch is retiring?  So sad!

This card is not for a high school graduation.  But I think it would be great for a elementary or middle school graduation.  It would work for anyone off on a new adventure.  And we all need that right now!!

Thank you for stopping in today.  Please come back on Monday for another new project!

Fine Art

On Monday I shared a card made with the Wrapped Bouquet Bundle and the Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper.  When I cut the DSP I had six different sections to choose from.  Today I am sharing a card using one of the other sections.  This one has much more of the floral from the DSP showing than Monday’s card.

The Wrapped Bouquet Bundle was also used for this card.  Even the same floral stamped image is used and die cut.  I colored this one just a bit differently and to match the colors in the DSP.

I just cannot say enough about this beautiful Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper.  The colors are simply beautiful.  My coloring does not match the beauty in the paper.  I colored the bouquet using Stampin’ Blends and added Wink of Stella and a couple of Basic Pearls for some added depth and bling.

Once again, I did not add a sentiment.  Just allowing the paper to star is fine with me.  I did add a piece of the Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Trim.  The bow is anchoring the little bouquet.  This is another very quick and easy card that allows the beautiful Designer Series Paper to shine.

Thank you for stopping by today.  Please come back tomorrow for another new project.

I Miss You

I have a monochromatic, sort of, card to share today.  There is only one different color used.  I have been in a bit of a whimsical card making mode the last few days.  This one I believe is adorable.  I hope you do as well!

There were no cute pups harmed in the making of this card!  LOL!!!  As soon as I saw the sentiment in this Hog Dog stamp set, I knew I wanted to “stretch” the cute pup.  I hope you all see this the same way I do.

I began by stamping the pup with Soft Suede Ink and coloring with both of the Cinnamon Cider Stampin’ Blends.  I fussy cut around the pup leaving just a hair of a border.  The difficult part was cutting him in half.  To get the length I needed, I placed the stamp in the center of a strip of DSP and then layed the pup down on each side.  The sentiment is stamped using Cinnamon Cider Ink.

For the Stitched Rectangle, I used the third largest rectangle and cut the ends and bottom section.  I then moved the DSP piece up to the top as much as was needed and matched the end stitchings again.  It takes just a minute of close looking to get the stitches lined back up.  But it is well worth the trouble to get a stitched piece the size you need.

The card base is Coastal Cabana with a piece from the Playing With Pattern Designer Series Paper.  I added the darker Bermuda Bay border to break up the two similar colors.  The same is true for the focal layers.

For a finishing touch I added a collar to the pup with a scrap piece of Bermuda Bay and a stamped heart.  I had to trim both to appear to fit the pup.  The heart appears to be partially beneath his ear.  Or at least I hope it appears that way!  The balloon is in the stamp set along with the heart.  I fussy cut the ballon and added string from the Snail Mail Twine Combo.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  I hope you enjoyed my touch of whimsy.

Here are the measurements:

  • 5 1/2 X 8 1/2 card base
  • 5 1/4 X 4 border layer
  • 5 1/8 X 3 7/8 DSP
  • 4 1/2 X 2 1/4 focal border layer
  • Pup layer used 3rd largest Stitched Rectangle Die and just cut to fit.  Approximately, 4 3/8 X 2 1/8.

Special Love Note

Today’s card is another of the Retiring Bundles from the Annual Catalog.  This is the Posted For You Bundle.  I am excited that the punch will be carrying over.  It is the Rectangle Postage Punch.  However the stamp set is retiring.

The Love “postage stamp” and the seal are both from the stamp set.  I envisioned this as looking similar to a post card by using the “Special Delivery” seal.

The Love is colored using the Stampin’ Blend Markers of Rococo Rose, Just Jade and the letters are Crumb Cake.  I used the same colors, minus the Just Jade as the card base and ribbon.   The little heart inside the seal is from the Dog Builder Punch.  Sadly it is on the retiring list as well.

My plan is to make a set of these in the outgoing In Colors.  I love the Scalloped Linen Ribbon in each color.  These cards would be a nice little gift using the various colors.  It is a quick card to make.

Thank you for stopping in today.  Please come back by tomorrow for another new project.

Wrapped Bouguet

I have such mixed feelings when catalogs are retiring.  I am excited to see what the new catalog brings.  But at the same time sad to see some of my favorites going away.  So I am going to share some of my favorites in the coming couple of weeks.

Today’s card features the Wrapped Bouquet Bundle from the Mini Catalog.  I love the matching dies and especially the folded newspaper to hold the bouquet.   Here is my card.

Stampin' Up!, Wrapped Bouquet, Fine Art Floral, Jackie Beers

I paired the Wrapped Bouquet with the Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper.  I chose all of the colors based on the DSP, as usual!

The bouquet is stamped using Old Olive Ink.  I made that choice since the main leaves of the stamp are solid.  I then colored the bouquet flowers with Stampin’ Blends.  The newspaper is stamped using Smoky Slate Ink for a faded look.  It is then die cut using the matchiing dies.  The newspaper die has score lines included in the die cut for ease and a perfect fold.

The Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper is gorgeous!  And it has so much detail.  It looks like if you touch it, it will feel like an oil painting.  The texture it gives is amazing.  The piece I chose to use has just a few flowers and the great textured background.

The only added touches I made were to add some Wink of Stella to the flowers.  And I added a couple of pearls to the larger ones.  I debated on a sentiment, but finally decided to just let the paper and stamped bouquet be the card.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope your day is a good one.

Hydrangea Kindness

Today’s card is pretty much as easy as it can get.  The Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper is almost always a starting point for me in creating a card.  I worry that it may be too often!  But the beauty of the paper cannot be denied.  Today I have made a #simplestamping card using the Hydrangea Hill Designer Series Paper.

Stampin' Up!, Hydrangea Hill, Oval Occasions, #simplestamping, Jackie Beers

This piece of the DSP has this pattern along the top and the bottom of a 12 X 12 sheet.  The middle section is the gorgeous light blue background.  I cut the sheet 5 1/8 X 3 7/8 and made four cards exactly like this one.   I pulled the card base and layer colors from the paper.  The card base is Gorgeous Grape with a layer of Purple Posy added in.

The only stamping on this card is the sentiment.  It is from the Oval Occasions stamp set.  The stamp set is retiring but , thankfully, the Double Oval Punch is carrying over.  I stamped the sentiment using Gorgeous Grape Ink.  I debated on adding a few embellishments but this is a #simplestamping card.  So I stayed true to the Stamps, Ink, and Paper theme.  Simple cards can , and are, very pretty and I believe this card shows that very well.

The measurements for this layout are also quite simple.  The base card is 5 1/2 X 8 1/2, the layer is 5 1/4 X 4, and the DSP is 5 1/8 X 3 7/8.  I have the supplies at the bottom of the post.  I believe this is the smallest supply list I have posted!  LOL!!

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you have a fun weekend whatever you may be doing.
