You’re Purrfect Birthday

I have another fun whimsical, animal card today.  You know how much I love the funny stamp sets.  And today’s is another good one!  The bonus is that it is a Fun Fold / Gift Card holder.

Stampin' Up!, Catch You Later, Daffodil Afternoon, Jackie Beers

Stamp Set and Dies

Isn’t the face on the cat just perfect?  I love it.  And of course the sentiment fits right in as well.  These are both from the new set in the Mini Catalog named Catch You Later.  The set includes various animals with adorable sentiments to match.  I love cats, so that was the first one for me to try out.  This is a birthday card for someone who also loves cats.  Like I needed a reason to use the cat. LOL!!

For a bit of a different look, I did the angled banner for the sentiment.  The positioning is a little bit out of the normal, but that is fine to me.  To get the great shapes for the stamped images I went to a favorite of mine.  They are the Stitched So Sweetly Dies.  I love that the shapes are quite different from any of the other die sets.  And they surprisingly fit most sentiments and any of the smaller images.

Papers and Fund Fold

You may not recognize the two DSP patterns I used on this card.  They are both the “back” sides of paper in the Sale-A-Bration paper Daffodil Afternoon Designer Series Paper.  I love both of these patterns.  I paired them with Pale Papaya as the card base.  And the unexpected color for a pairing to Pale Papaya is Flirty Flamingo.  I would never have put the two together without the plaid pattern using it.  Now I am a fan!

As I mentioned, this card is a Fun Fold.  And of course, I failed to take a photo of the inside before mailing.  However, the measurements are as follows

  • Card Base is 5 1/2 X 8 1/2 scored on the 8 1/2 side at 2 1/4 from each end.
  • The Flirty Flamingo layer is 5 1/4 X 2 (x2)
  • The DSP layer is 5 1/8 X 1 7/8 (x2)
  • Inside White sentiment layer is 3 3/4 X 4 1/2
  • Strips for sentiment are 1 X 3 and 3/4 X 2 3/4

To make the Fun Fold, fold on the scoring lines and burnish the folds.  The folds are the same size, so it does not matter which is top or bottom.  Whichever one you decide is the bottom, add Tear & Tape against the edge on each side and fold up to make the pocket.  There is room for the White inside card as well as a gift card.  I left the card attached to the little tag they come on and still had room.

A Ladybug Bee

I adore the new Ladybug punch and stamp set.  And I have seen where others have turned the ladybug into a bee.  Since I have a friend that loves bees, I had to make one.

Stampin' Up!, Ladybug Punch, Pattern Party DSP, Heart Punch, Special Moments, Jackie Beers

Paper

I am beginning with the paper since that is where the bee begins.  In case you have not noticed the great Host Rewards pack of paper, this is part of it.  The Pattern Party Designer Series Paper is part of the Host Rewards in the Annual Catalog.  You definitely cannot beat the value for your Host rewards.  I only used part of one piece from the pack.  These beautiful hearts are the opposite side of the black and white stripes.  I used a small piece of the black and white to color with my Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend.

I found a scrap of the Gold Shimmer Vellum to use for the wings.  Sadly this vellum is retired. I apologize because I thought it had carried over.  However, you could use plain vellum and color it with the Stampin’ Blend as well.  I have done it, and it works wonderfully.

Punches

I obviously used the Ladybug Punch for the body and wings of my bee.  For the striped body, I aligned the paper so I just cut the fat part of the body.  It is glued to the Basic Black full body.  And the wings are attached using a glue dot at the center top.

For the Focal Area, I used the larger of the Heart Punch Pack.  I like the added benefit of the scallops for the Focal spot.  And to carry on the theme, I added that punched out heart to the inside of the card.  Since it is a Basic White card base, the bright hearts really pop on the inside.

I hope you will try different bugs/bees with your Ladybug punch and share them with me.

Sale-A-Bration

In my opinion, Punch Bundles are a great value for your money.  The Ladybug Bundle is $32.50.  With an added $11.50  more, you qualify for one of the Free with $50.00 purchase items from SAB.  Have a party with your friends and earn even more rewards.  It could include the Pattern Party DSP!  I would love to talk with you about hosting a party.

Or the second best part of SAB is the Join Promotion.  You can read more below regarding the costs of joining.  But there are way more benefits than the price.  Currently with the SAB promotion, you can choose TWO stamp sets from either active catalog, in addition to the $125.00 in product.  That could be over a $60.00 additional value!

Driving By for InKing Royalty January Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s January Blog Hop! We are having so much fun with our new Sale-a-Bration products and are excited to share some of that fun with you today. This month’s projects feature papers or stamp sets (or both!) from Stampin’ Up!’s January – February 2022 Sale-a-Bration brochure. After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

I really look forward to Sale-a-Bration each time.  This current SAB is awesome and I definitely have a favorite of the paper and stamp set.  So I am using them both on today’s card.

Stampin' Up!, Driving By, Sunshine & Rainbows, Cloud Punch, Jackie Beers

Stamps

My favorite stamp set from SAB is the Driving By set.  I love the three vehicles.   And they are all Fun cars.  By stamping the images onto the DSP creates  even more Fun!  Yes, I had to fussy cut them because there is not a matching die, but that is fine.  The look is well worth the little bit of time it took.  I did cut off the balloons from the sports car.  They did not fit the mood I was going for.  I had seen a card with the vehicles stamped onto the DSP and knew I had to make one.

To get the sentiment I needed, I went to the A Wish For Everything stamp set.  The words are individual so you can make your own sentiment.  This made it super easy to stamp the “Wishing You A Happy, Happy, Happy Day”.

Paper and Punch

I am sure that you have identified the gorgeous DSP.  It is the bright and happy Sunshine & Rainbows Designer Series Paper.  I love bright colors and this pack of 6X6 paper really works for me.  Of course, if you prefer more subtle patterns, it can fit that as well. The opposite sides are softer colors like the one I used for the Clouds.  I do not think I have ever used five different pieces of DSP before.  This may be a personal record!

The cloud was simply a “lightbulb” moment.  I had the punch laying on my desk and was sort of looking while I was thinking for what to do with a sentiment.  My consciousness came back when I realized I was looking at the answer.  It may be a bit out of the norm, but that is totally ok with me.  I finished each cloud with one of the Irridescent Rhinestones for a bit of bling.

Beauty of the Earth

To pair with the Winter theme from yesterday, I have another Winter card to share with you.  This one is more of snow and trees.  The idea for this card was from the paper.  It is the Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper.  I love this pack of great designs and color of paper, but find I have not been using it.

Stampin' Up!, Beauty of Friendship, Beauty of the Earth, Flowing Flowers, Fan Bakers Twine, Jackie Beers

Paper

The blue trees of the DSP is what set the tone of this card.  Because of the DSP, I did an unusual mix of Misty Moonlight and Soft Succulent.  And it makes me happy to say that I love this coordination!  The focal tree is also stamped in Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen, with some snowflakes in Balmy Blue.  But the DSP reminds me of a snowy night scene!

Stamps

The stamped tree is from the Beauty of Friendship stamp set.  It pairs with the paper, and was the perfect tree for my snow scene.  For the sentiment, I went with the new Flowing Flowers stamp set.  I love that “Time For A Happy Dance”.  It reminds me of childhood when it snowed!  Just to be different, I fussy cut around the sentiment.  Then I layered it onto a scrap of Misty Moonlight and followed my first fussy cutting to create the layer.  As a finishing touch, I used the Navy Bakers Twine from the Fan Bakers Twine pack to create the ribbon and bow.

Winter Is Here

The idea for today’s post is somewhat humorous.  I live in Georgia and we do not get a lot of Winter.  The temperature goes up and down with some fairly cold mixed in.  But most of the time our winters are pleasant.  Today’s card if for the Make My Monday Challenge and the theme is Winter.  Well…..by the time this post is live on Monday, assuming forecasts are correct, we will have had a Snowy, Icy, day.  So no more Winter Themes for me!!!  LOL!!

Stampin' Up!, On The Horizon, New Horizon, Perfectly Plaid, Jackie Beers

The Make My Monday Challenge can be reached by clicking on the picture.  You can see the Winter cards made by the other Design Team Members and add your own card if you wish.

The Paper

I wish I could say that I created that beautiful scene.  But sadly, I did not.  It is from the new and awesome New Horizons Designer Series Paper in the Mini Catalog.  In my mind, and in thinking of Winter, I see this scene as a frozen pond or a snowy field.  By using different stamps it could be a totally different scene / time of year.  All of these papers are this fabulous!!

The Stamps and Dies

The On The Horizon Bundle is a match to the great paper.  These stamps are designed to be stamped onto the paper for scenery as I have made.  I did use the birds and the wood piece for the sentiment from the stamp set.  There is a matching die for the wood piece.  To help my scene look a bit more like winter, I added the trees on the bottom right.  They are from my favorite Christmas set in the Annual Catalog, Perfectly Plaid.

A Friend

I love the adorable animals the Stampin’ Up! Artists create.  The new Mini Catalog and Sale-A-Bration Catalogs both have some cute ones.  I am focusing on the Happy Hedgehog Bundle with today’s card.

Stampin' Up!, Happy Hedgehog, Double Oval Punch, Brushed Brass Butterflies, Jackie Beers

Happy Hedgehog Bundle

I really love it when I can make a card using a single stamp set.  To me it means that you can purchase the set, or in this case the bundle, and be ready to go.  And for the set to include adorable little critters is just a bonus!  Did you notice the sentiment?  That is going to be an often used one for me!

The hedgehog is punched using the matching Hedgehog Punch.  The cutie can be stamped and punched as one piece like I did.  Or it can be layered with the top different to give added depth.  More versatility is always a good thing.

Colors

My goal for this card was to be bright and happy to match the new Friends.  So I used Just Jade and Pale Papaya.  I stamped everything with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then used Stampin’ Blends to color.  The adorable bird is one that I actually researched.  I needed a bird that was not brown, since most of the other elements had quite a lot of tan / brown.  This adorable little girl is an Eastern Bluebird, if you want to be exact.

After layering the hedgehog for a bit of depth, I did the same for the sentiment.  It is layered over a strip of Pale Papaya.  The perfect fit for the sentiment was the Double Oval Punch.  And for a finishing touch, to go along with the other critters, I added a Brushed Brass Butterfly.  These little butterflies are so adorable!!
