Warm Beachy Day

I have been advertising the Waves Of The Ocean Suite early release.  You can see all of the components towards the bottom of the post.  So today I have a fun card made with the Waves Of Inspiration Bundle.  Plus some added products from the suite.

Stampin' Up!, Waves of Inspiration, Blue Foils, Rhinestone Waves Jewels, Postage Stamp Punch, Label Me Fancy Punch, Jackie Beers

I actually mixed quite a lot of different products to make this card.  Please do not panic!!  Most are ones that you would already have, or can substitute for.

Stamps

The beautiful waves are both stamped and die cut from the Waves of Inspiration Bundle.  I love how the two together give such depth to the water.  Also the little birds flying overhead are from the stamp set.  This card probably has as many layers as any of my more advanced cards.  And this one is really not.  The various dimensions simply give that illusion.

For the sentiment, I wanted a sweet one and found it in the Paradise Palms stamp set.  This is a great one for anyone who loves the beach.  Sadly my beachy vacation is not for another few months.  Making more of these cards may help me get over it.

Dies and Punches

As I mentioned above, the awesome Waves Dies are part of the Waves of Inspiration Bundle.  There are actually two different waves.  I chose to do them in two different colors for a more realistic ocean look.  Since the ocean has such variation of the blue / green tones in it.  The dies were used on the Blue Foils Specialty Paper that is a part of the Early Release of the Suite.  They are gorgeous.

Trying to figure out the sentiment location and layers was the most difficult part of this card creation.  I finally settled with the Label Me Fancy Punch for the sentiment itself.  The shape reminds me of a metal tag or even dog tags. I wanted to add more of the Bermuda Bay color without overwhelming the other parts of the card.  The punch I decided on is the Postage Stamp Punch.  The edging and the size were perfect.

Other Touches

To finish the sentiment layer I added one of t he Rhinestone Waves Jewels.  These vary from dark blue to an almost peridot green.  I went with the lightest blue / green color.  For a bit more of a “scene” look, I decided to add a sun behind the birds.  This was done by using Inks and Blending Brushes.  The upper corner started with Crushed Curry Ink.  Then a bit of that area and below received Mango Melody.  And the final area was just a touch of Pumpkin PIe.  In person it shows more of the variation of colors than in the photo.

April Pals Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!

This month, the theme is Fabulous Flowers. We really hope that you will be inspired by all the amazing creations the Pals are sharing with you! As you hop from blog to blog, we would love for you to leave a comment. You will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

The Flowers theme is so perfect right now.  I have a variety of flowers blooming so making a card inspired by them using the Hand-Penned Petals and Hand Penned DSP was a given.

Stampin' Up!, Hand Penned Petals, Simply Elegant Trim, Brushed Brass Butterflies, Jackie Beers

Stamps and Paper

As I said above, I used the Hand-Penned Petals stamp set.  These flowers are so pretty and beautifully painted.  To continue the theme I went with the Hand Penned Designer Series Paper.   Attempting to create the focal flower to look like the ones in the paper was my goal.  The fillings for the two flowers are stamped.  But there is not a fill stamp for the leaves.  So to mimic the “not perfect” look of the stamps, I squiggled the leaves with the Light Mint Macaroon Stampin’ Blend.  And yes “squiggled” is a technical term !!  LOL!!

Embellishments

To finish the card took some thought.  Adding the Brushed Brass Butterfly was easy.  And that is a perfect fit for a pretty flower.  But there was still too much open space.  The idea for a bow, which I do quite often, filled the gap.  Using the Simply Elegant Trim in Gold does not quite match the Brass of the butterfly.  But it is pretty close.

More inspiration awaits, so use the lineup below to visit the rest of the Design Team. The Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Then, please mark your calendars for our next blog hop on May 11th. Our theme will be New 2022-2024 In Colors, with the Pals showcasing the brand new In Colors in the new Annual Catalog.

Until then, have fun in your craft space.

Washi Tape Rainbow

Today I have a little different technique to share.  I am part of a challenge design team and the challenge for this time is Washi Tape.  Stampin’ Up! doesn’t currently have any Washi Tape.  But I had some leftover.  To complete the challenge I decided on a rainbow.  However, this same card could be created with your scrap strips of DSP or cardstock just as well.

Stampin' Up!, Rainbow of Happiness, Brilliant Rainbow Dies, Gingham Embossing Folder, Playing with Pattern dots, Washi Tape, Jackie Beers

As I said at the top of the page, this challenge is a Washi Tape challenge.  I found some retired Washi Tape and used it to create my rainbow.  If you would like to see other Washi Tape cards, click on the MMM banner below and it will take you to the challenge.

Stamps and Dies

I used the Rainbow of Happiness Bundle to create the focal layer of this card.  That sweet sentiment is from the stamp set.  It was stamped first so I had the curved area to build my rainbow.  The Washi Tape was added to a scrap piece of Basic White cardstock.  They were layed down at an angle across the paper and butting up next to each other.  When there was enough space to fit the rainbow die, the piece was die cut.  This technique is done quite often with scraps of cardstock.  Like the 1/4″ and smaller pieces with trim off.

There are actually five arches to the rainbow.  However my space was not large enough to hold all five.  A bit of a creative license was used and you see the results.  The arches are secured with a light touch of Multipurpose Glue.

Embossing

Since this card is a different technique than normal for me, I continued on with the different.  The Gingham Embossing Folder was my choice.  Whenever I use an embossing folder I alway ask myself the same question.  And that is “why have I not done this in a while?”.  LOL!!!

Colors

To determine the colors used on this card, I referred to the Washi Tape.  And also kept in mind that rainbows are bright colors.  So  Daffodil Delight and Granny Apple Green are paired with the Basic White.  For a finishing touch I added three Daffodil Delight dots from the Playing With Pattern Dots.

Horizon Birthday

It is no secret that I have loved using the New Horizon Designer Series Paper.  Today’s card is another quick and easy card starring the paper and On The Horizon stamp set.

Stampin' Up!, On The Horizon, New Horizon, Label Me Fancy, In Good Taste, Bakers Twine, Jackie Beers

Paper

The New Horizon Designer Series paper does the majority of the work in making a card.  It is like looking out your window at beautiful scenery.  And that was the look I was going for on this card.  I needed a masculine birthday and this seemed to fit the bill.  The card base and layer were both pulled from the paper.  With this piece of DSP I could have gone in a variety of different ways color wise.

But for masculine I went with the greens of Evening Evergreen and Soft succulent.  But for a special touch, the Soft Succulent is actually Vellum.  It is from the 2021-2023 In Color Shimmer Vellum.  The shimmery look fits perfectly with the DSP.  And the last paper is the tag.  It is from In Good Taste Designer Series Paper and is a scrap of a light wood look paper.

Stamp

Even though the On The Horizon stamp set is part of a bundle, I only used the stamp set.  And I stamped mostly on the beautiful piece of DSP.  That can be a bit scary, but is such a reward once you do it.  The grasses at the bottom were stamped using Evening Evergreen Ink.  Since the birds were more in the distance and not as clear, I went with Basic Gray for them.

Punch and Finishes

The sentiment is from the On The Horizon stamp set also.  It is stamped and then punched using the Label Me Fancy Punch.  To anchor the punch I used the Crumb Cake of the Bakers Twine Essential Pack.  The twine is wrapped around twice and just secured behind the sentiment.  To help it stand up a bit away from the twine I raised the sentiment layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  And with the DSP being so beautiful I did not think the card needed any bling.  I know that is shocking!!!  LOL!!

A Flowery Hello

I have a sweet Hello card using the Ranunculus Romance stamp set for my project today.  And it includes a Direct To Rubber flower as the star.

Stampin' Up!, Ranunculus Romance, Scalloped Contours Dies, In Color DSP, Pearls, Linen Thread, Jackie Beers

Stamp Set

The Ranunculus Romance stamp set is a fun one with beautiful focal stamps as well as background stamps.  And it is carrying over to the next Annual Catalog from the Mini!  All of the stamps used are from the stamp set.  The background stamping on the card base is done Tone on Tone with Soft Succulent Ink.

For the flower I used the Direct To Rubber Technique by coloring onto the red rubber with the Soft Succulent and Polished Pink Stampin’ Write Markers.  This card is using the 2021-2023 In Colors for paper and inks.  To do the Direct To Rubber technique you need the Stampin’ Write Markers.  So with there only being five markers in an In Color set, it is a great way to collect these and less expensive than the Color Families.

Paper

The card base is the soft and elegant Soft Succulent cardstock.  As mentioned above, the colors are all from the In Colors.  The two paper layers are from the 2021-2023 In Color 6×6 paper stack.  These two pieces are the same design front and back.  So you are seeing both patterns between the two colors.  The green DSP is actually Evening Evergreen.  I believe the darker lines are Evening Evergreen and the lighter area is closer to the Soft Succulent.  For some added depth, I angled the two pieces of DSP.  This allows you to see more of the colors and designs.

Extras

Making the focal point really stand out is not always easy.  One of the products I love to use for this is a fun die shape.  This one is from the Scalloped Contours Dies.  The different scalloped layers in graduating sizes is a great one to have in your stash.

The cute little Hello tag is from the Ranunculus Dies.  This is the matching dies to the stamp set and is available as a bundle.  The tag is tied on using the wonderful Linen Thread.  It is perfect for little tags or adding a masculine touch to a card.  However I think it works great with flowers by thinking of it as garden twine.  To finish off the card I scattered a few Pearls Basic Jewels around for some bling.

You Matter

My card for today is using the Here Together stamp set and the Abstract Beauty DSP.  It is a bright and shiny card made on a rainy day!

Stampin' Up!, Here Together, Abstract Beauty, Gold Foil, Scalloped Contours, Double Oval Punch, Jackie Beers

Stamp Set

The Here Together stamp set is a Limited Edition set that is available through May 2.  There are matching dies as well as a chance to preorder five new Natural Tone Stampin’ Blends.  However I only used the stamp set.  The one that I chose to use is a gesture you see fairly often.  Making a heart from your hands is something that most anyone can do.  And to help make that simple stamp the star of the card, I added the arch of  light reflection.  I think of it as the sun’s rays.

Paper

One of the prettiest packs of paper currently available is the Abstract Beauty 4X6 Designer Series Paper.  The colors and gold foil are amazing.  Choosing the card base was a little difficult but ended up being Polished Pink.  And of course the Gold Foil was a perfect choice for the backing of the sentiment.

Punch , Dies, +

For the focal layer the Scalloped Contours Dies was my choice.  I love the scallops and stitching to add interest.  The sentiment is from the stamp set and was punched using the Double Oval Punch.  Since it would have been a white layer on a white layer, there was a definite need for some color.  With the Double Oval Punch it was easy to add the Gold Foil .  And the strips are pieces of the DSP that were trimmed off.  They are the opposite side of the paper.  To finish the card the 2021-2023 In Color Gems seemed the perfect choice.
