Ranunculus Gift Box

Today’s project is not a card.  I have a Sneak Peek for you of a sweet box from the upcoming Mini Catalog.  It is paired with the Ranunculus Romance stamp set for a sweet young lady gift.

Stampin' Up!, Ranunculus Romance, Envelope Treat Box, , Hydrangea, Soft Succulent, Jackie Beers

Stamp Set(s)

This project began with the Ranunculus Romance stamp set so that is where I am going to start as well.   Needing a gift box ,or a card, sometimes leads us down different paths.  For this project I wanted to use the “collage” look of the Ranunculus Romance stamp set.  (Try saying that , or spelling it, a couple of times!!)  Even the little tag was pre-done as I have always loved that little tag from the Hydrangea Dies.  The sentiment is from the Hydrangea Haven stamp set.

The Gift Box

After stamping and coloring the flower, there just wasn’t a box I had in my pattern file that seemed to fit.  Luckily, I had received my pre-order from the July – January Mini Catalog.  And even better was that I had ordered the cute little Envelope Treat Boxes.  If you have your catalog already, they are on page 13.  They are pre scored and have adhesive already on them.  Best yet is there are ten boxes for $8.00.

Instead of having the closure on the top, I decided it needed to be on the bottom.  To ensure it stays closed, and to add the pretty flower, I added a Soft Succulent Belly Band.  There is a “collage” sort of stamping on what I am calling the top of the box.  So here are all of the photos.

You can see the stamping on the box here.

This is what I am using as the bottom of the box with the envelope looking closure.

It also has a second closure, which is wonderful for holding the surprise in place.

And here is the real treat!  There are six of the Merci Chocolates, and do you see the dark piece on the bottom?  That is a gift card!  Yes, it fits a gift card.  That is a winner in my book.

Belly Band Measurements

The belly band is loose enough that it slides off easily.  Soft Succulent cardstock is cut to 2 1/4 X 7.  Then score it at 1 3/8, 2 3/8, 4 3/4, and 5 3/4.  It is secured where it overlaps with Tear & Tape.

InKing Royalty June Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s June Blog Hop! As we prepare for the July 4 holiday ahead, we are sharing projects that celebrate the Red, White & Blue. Not all projects will be patriotic, but you are certain to be inspired by all of them. After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

My Red, White, & Blue cards are generally stars and stripes.  Today’s card went in a different direction after perusing the different stamp sets that would work.  Hopefully you will still like it.

Stampin' Up!, Alphabet, Best Label Punch, Breaking News, Painted Poppies, Decorative Circle Punch, Jackie Beers

Stamp Sets

This card is a very unique one for me only because of the number of stamp sets I used in making it!  It is difficult to say that one is the star over the others.  Picking one would probably go to the Alphabet Bundle.  It is very unique with having the outlines and Punch.  However all of the others play an important part.  The flowers are from the Painted Poppies stamp set.  They are colored with Stampin’ Blends in a not realistic coloring!

For the center cake, it comes from the Breaking News stamp set.  This is one that as soon as I saw it I knew it was for me.  All of the little images are the kind I really love!  Cakes have become more beautiful and creative over the years.  So this one received a striped coloring both inside and outside.  Those stripes are created using the same Stampin’ Blends.

Dies, Punches, extras

Placing the cake as the center of the card required a special layering.  The new Decorative Circle Punch has become a “Go To” for me lately.  It is a perfect size with just enough detail around the edges.  To add brightness to the layer, I went with the same color as the card base, Sweet Sorbet, and used the Layering Circles Dies.

My favorite of the card is the USA.  Those pieces were stamped from the Alphabet stamp and then punched using the matching Best Label Punch.  They come as a Bundle to save you 10% and it is one you will definitely want to get.  For the finishing touch, I added a few of the Iridescent Rhinestones to the blue, Starry Sky, area.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you’ll hop along to the next stop on the blog hop, Lisa Graham at Lisa’s Little Ink Spots. There’s lots of inspiration to be found in this group – and you don’t want to miss it!

Bottled Happiness

There are a few different “bottle” stamps in the current catalog.  I love them because they remind me of childhood when all flowers pretty much went in a bottle or jar.  Definitely simpler times!  Today I am sharing my version of this using the Bottled Happiness stamp set.

Stampin' Up!, Bottled Happiness, Beautiful Shapes, Flowering Fields, Iridescent Rhinestones, Jackie Beers

Stamp Set

As mentioned this card stars the Bottled Happiness Stamp Set.  There are a few different size bottles as well as labels for them.  This bottle was simply stamped using the new Tahitian Tide Ink and then filled using Pool Party Ink.  Don’t you just love those flowers?  Thankfully it is a two step stamping, so it was very easy to line up the flowers and leaves.  The flowers are in Highland Heather with the leaves in Pear Pizzaz.

For the sentiment I went with the bright Tahitian Tide but added a little sprig of Pear Pizzaz along the side.  Actually the sentiment was a bit small for the shape and the little sprig was the perfect fix for that. To finish off the flowers, they each received one of the Iridescent Rhinestones.  These are so pretty and they take on a little bit of the color they are next to.  That is a great benefit!

Paper, etc

When doing my product shares I fell in love with this Flowering Fields Designer Series Paper.  The piece you see is a “back” side of the paper.  It has a great mix of colors from bright to softer like the piece I have used.  Instead of the Pear Pizzaz, the card base is Soft Succulent.  The two colors are sort of between the greens showing in the DSP piece.  A layer of Highland Heather breaks up the greens and highlights the flowers very well.

The area around the floral arrangement has squiggles of Pool Party like an old painting would have.  That is what the DSP piece reminds me of.  And the final touch is the shape of the sentiment layer.  It comes from the Beautiful Shapes Dies.  There is a bit of an embossed wavy line around the inside edge.  Unfortunately it does not show well in the photo.

June Pals Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!

This month, the theme is “CASE the Catalog” so the Design Team chose a card from the new Annual Catalog and has CASEd it with their own creative twist. We really hope that you are inspired by all the amazing creations the Pals are sharing with you! As you hop from blog to blog, we would love for you to leave a comment. You will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

My choice for the CASE the Catalog was on page 66 of the Annual Catalog.  This card features the True Beauty Bundle.  Having the matching dies, Organic Beauty, for this stamp set is awesome.

Stampin' Up!, True Beauty, Organic Beauty Dies, Double Oval Punch, Fun Flower Resin Shapes, Hues of Happiness, Jackie Bees

The Bundle

Having this many pieces in the middle of a card is quite different than my normal ones.  However in CASEing the catalog, my inspiration was a mix of the framed piece and the green card.  Both had layers of flowers.  Thankfully the die set makes cutting out the stamped flowers a piece of cake.  Plus it was just as easy to add a few of the pieces by simply cutting them out of colored cardstock.   And the surprising favorite is the lattice looking background piece.

You may remember a card from last week which had this same lattice look.  The piece is large so by cutting it in half, I was able to make two cards from the one die cut.

Paper

The bright and beautiful colors of the Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper were where the color choices came from.  This piece is actually what would probably be considered the “back” side of one of the roses pieces of the DSP.  But these are “Happy” flowers, so they became the star.  Sweet Sorbet has grown on me quickly and earned the starring role of this card.  Of course the Granny Apple Green and Daffodil Delight always pop as well as being in the floral paper.

Punches and Embellishments

It took some looking through products to decide on how to showcase the sentiment with all of the flower layers.   Finally one of my favorite punches won the place of honor.  It is the Double Oval Punch.  This punch gets used fairly often both together or one of the two used singly.  The scalloped edging adds a bit more texture, like more was really necessary, to the card.  And to finish this one, I added a few of the Fun Flower Resin Shapes.  These were not on my immediate order list.  But I am so happy to have them.  They almost match the flowers on the paper perfectly!

More inspiration awaits, so use the lineup below to visit the rest of the Design Team. The Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Then, please mark your calendars for our next blog hop on July 13th. Our theme will be “Create Your Own Background” when our Design Team creates a background using any technique they wish, such as stencils, stamping, watercolor, embossing but not DSP.

Until then, have fun in your craft space!

A Beachy Day

Today’s card is a Summer Fun challenge card.  A day at the beach is my idea of Summer Fun!  And the Paradise Palms stamps and dies are the perfect way to create that image.

Stampin' Up!, Paradise Palms, Palms Dies, Splendid Stems Dies, Fine Sparkle Gems, Blending Brushes, Jackie Beers

The Make My Monday Challenge, which goes live today, is titled Summer Fun.  My idea of that is sitting on the beach simply reading and enjoying the breeze.  You can join the challenge as well.  Siimply click on the image below and it will take you to the challenge page.

Colors

The beachy scene was created using Blending Brushes and Ink pads.  There were a few stamps used from the Paradise Palms stamp set.  But the majority was created by playing with the Blending Brushes.  For the horizon line, I simply used a scrap of cardstock and brushed below it.  The sun image is a bit of a 3D look.  There is a die in the matching Palms Dies which makes a sun or moon.  I used that and then adhered the circle to the layer.  By coloring over top of that it gave the extra dimension.

Dies

The dies and blended colors used on this card are much more the star than any stamps used.  To create the look of a peaceful beach I wanted a large palm tree.  The die in the Palms Dies was perfect.  This tree is larger than my focal layer.  And that is perfect.  It allows it to be a real focal point.

For the sentiment I had some difficulty in deciding where to place it.  Not wanting to disrupt the peace of the Horizon was an important consideration.  So in looking for a die shape I found the half circle die in the Splendid Stems Dies.  (These dies coordinate with the Splendid Thoughts stamp set.)  By placing it on the sandy area, the cute die shape doesn’t disrupt the view.

Hello Handsome

Today’s card is a simple masculine card which is a great way to use up DSP scraps.  And the He’s All That stamp set is a definite winner in my book!

Stampin' Up!, He's All That, He's The Man DSP, Banner Pick A Punch, Lasting Label punch, Rustic Metallic Dots, Jackie Beers

Paper

The He’s The Man Suite of products are all awesome.  Different products from the suite are used on this card and I love them all.  The DSP is a for sure winner.  He’s The Man  is a great name for this Designer Series Paper.   All of the colors have a more masculine look and color scheme, but they all work together wonderfully.  Some of the pieces you see are the front and back of a single sheet.  The measurements for each piece is listed at the bottom of the post.

Stamp Set

Since this is a Suite card, using the stamp set He’s All That is a given.  The different images and sentiments make for a great set.  In reading the chosen sentiment it reminded me of the very old Country Music song “Hello Darlin'”.  With that thought in my brain, I had to use this sentiment!  LOL!!!!  For a bit of information, I will also say that at first glance, and in actuality,  the mustache does not line up straight with the sentiment wording.  This unevenness may not work for everyone.   A single Rustic Metallic Dot was the finishing touch for the sentiment layer.

Punches

Two different punches were used for this card design.  The most obvious one is the sentiment layer.  That punch is the Lasting Label Punch, which is part of the Lovely & Lasting Bundle.  A bit of a different shape around the edges is a nice addition.  And the second punch is the Banner Pick A Punch.  It was used for the flags at the top of the page.  The punch has three widths and I used all three.  They are 1/2″ x 2″, 3/4″ x 2 1/4″ , and 1″ x 2 1/2″.  To complete the look I used a small stapler for a different little touch.

Measurements

Besides the little flag sizes above, the card base is 4 1/4 X 11 then scored and folded at 5 1/2.  A thin additional layer of the Sahara Sand cardstock is cut to 3 3/4 X 5.  The large DSP piece is cut to 3 5/8 X 4 7/8. And finally the strip of DSP beneath the sentiment is cut to 3 5/8 X 1.  It was fun playing with the different patterns to decide on which pattern went where.
