A Note With Heart

I am giving some love to a stamp set that I feel has been sort of left out in all of the great sets in the Mini Catalog.  This is the Lots Of Heart set.  It is a really sweet set with three different hearts and some cute sentiments.  I made a quick Note card that I am really happy with.

As you can see there is not a lot to this card.  But Notes are usually pretty simple.  I have been trying to incorporate the Retiring In Colors this month.  Sadly they will be gone before we know it.  For this card, I paired Pretty Peacock with Granny Apple Green.  Both of these colors, surprisingly, work well with quite a lot of other colors.

The DSP is from the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper.  It has Granny Apple Green and the Pretty Peacock in a fun pattern.  To match the pattern of the DSP, I embossed the banner with the Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder.  I see diamonds in the DSP and thought it was a great match.  The banner was made using the Banner Triple Punch.

The heart is from the Lots of Heart stamp set.  I stamped it in Granny Apple Green and used my paper snips to cut it out.  It was very easy to do.  Yes, there are matching dies and I did not even think about it until after I had fussy cut!  LOL!!  The sentiment is from the stamp set as well.  It is stamped in Pretty Peacock and then cut using the Classic Label Punch.  For the finishing touch, I added a single one of the White Resin Hearts.  It really pops against the Pretty Peacock Banner.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Remember that the 2019-2021 In Colors will all be retiring at the end of the current Annual Catalog.  That is on May 3rd.  Most likely the In Colors will all be sold out by that time if history repeats.  I do know that Rococo Rose is already on low inventory.

Amazing

Today’s card has a star item from an unexpected product.  I have combined the In Bloom Bundle with a die from the Suite & Tie Dies.  Can you guess which die?

If you guessed the Pocket from the Suite & Tie Dies, then you are correct.  I was trying to come up with a smaller focal point.  In perusing through Pinterest I found an older card using a large pocket die that pretty much covered the front of the card.  I immediately thought of this small pocket and went to work.

The DSP is the 2020-2022 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack.  It is one of the Just Jade sheets.  The pocket is the back side of the larger piece. I raised it a bit using Stampin’ Dimensionals before tucking the flowers in.  The flowers are all from the In Bloom Bundle dies.  The stitching on the flowers is a perfect touch without you having to add anything.  They are Magenta Madness, White, and Bumblebee.  I have a single leaf mixed in there using Shaded Spruce, but it is a little hidden.

The sentiment is from the In Bloom stamp set and a favorite saying of mine.  I stamped it with the Bumblebee Ink and then added a trio of the Magenta Flowers.  To finish off the card, I added a few Rhinestones in some of the flowers.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I love finding a die or other product that an be utilized outside of the set it was intended for.  I think of it as More Bang For Your Buck!

InKing Royalty March Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s March Blog Hop! During this year’s blog hops, we are having fun with our stamping favorites – our favorite themes for seasonal cards and projects. This month’s projects feature Flowers & Fauna, a brilliant starting point for so many projects. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

Happy Hop Day, and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!  I have a 2 for 1 deal for you today.  I couldn’t Not make a St. Patrick’s Day card, and I wanted to follow the Hop theme with a pretty Easter card.  Even though both cards follow the title,  you get two cards!  And I apologize in advance for a longer than normal post.

First is my Hop card.  I made an Easter wreath like I would place on my door.

Stampin' Up!, arrange a wreath, stitched rectangles, jackie beers

I have been using quite a lot of the Highland Heather of late.  But when I think of Easter, it is my go to.  My Mom loved purple and would always dress me in purple when I was young.  All of my Easter dresses were purple!!  So you understand my color scheme.

All of the wreath items are from the Arrange A Wreath Bundle. I stamped the base of the wreath, then added a die cut wreath on top for texture.  The eggs and flowers are also from the bundle.  As is the sentiment!

I decided to use the Stitched Rectangle Dies to add a bit to the layers.  And to tie in the sentiment, I used one of the smaller dies.  I had to adjust the size, which is fairly easy with the stitched rectangles.  There are several videos out there showing how to do it.  Basically you just place the paper back into the die at the desired length and match up the already made stitches and the die.  Easy Peasy!

For the finishing touches, I added a Gorgeous Grape Sheer Ribbon bow to the wreath.  I also added some of the Resin Hearts to the centers of the flowers and one on the sentiment banner.

Here is my St. Patrick’s Day card.  I used the Jar of Flowers Bundle for the jar.  I die cut the shamrocks by cutting flowers from the Pierced Blooms Dies and cutting off some of the petals.  The white flowers are from the Pierced Blooms also.  The background is the gorgeous Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper.

The finishing touch is the tag and bow.  The tag is from the Hydrangea Dies.  I have used it quite a few times.  It is the perfect size!  I added the White Baker’s Twine from the Snail Mail Trim Combo.  It is wrapped around the jar and then an added bow.

I have the supply list for both cards at the bottom of the post!  Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you’ll hop along to the next stop on the blog hop, Renae Novak at Blessed By Cards. There’s lots of inspiration to be found in this group – and you don’t want to miss it!

Happy

Today’s card is a quick and easy one that is supposed to make you Smile.  I kept it pretty simple with some easy stamping.  I hope you enjoy it.

I used the Pretty Perennials Bundle for this card.  I love the “Fun” look of the flowers as well as the Happy and the coordinating sentiments.  I used the matching dies for the one bottom left flower.  It is stamped and die cut then raised using a Stampin’ Dimensional.  However, you could quickly use your paper snips to accomplish cutting that one flower if needed.

The colors are some of my favorites.  The card base is Highland Heather, the layer is Misty Moonlight, and the layer behind the white is Purple Posy.  The flowers are Seaside Spray for the solid flower with the outline done in Highland Heather.  The sentiments are stamped using Misty Moonlight.  And the finishing touch is the In Color Enamel Dot of Misty Moonlight in the center of the raised flower.

Measurements:

  • card base of Highland Heather is 4 1/4 X 11, scored and folded at 5 1/2
  • layer is Misty Moonlight cut to 3 3/4 X 5
  • layer of Purple Posy cut to 3 X 4 1/4
  • White layer is 2 7/8 X 4 1/8

This was a quick and fun card to make.  It could be done in your, or the recipient’s, favorite colors.  Thank you for stopping by today.  Please come back tomorrow for the InKing Royalty March Blog Hop.

Always In My Heart

My card for you today is from the Annual Catalog and a stamp set that I do not believe I have used before.  I know I have used the matching punch and Love it.  I hope you like the card as well.  It is a CASE from fellow Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Patti Carbonell.  I received her card in a swap last year and have held on to it because of how much I loved the look.  Mine is a little simpler version.

You cannot see the background very well in the photo.  But I stamped the bottom row of greenery and flowers , the “Always”, and the dragonfly first.  I then used the Tasteful Texture Embossing Folder and embossed the white layer.  In person, it gives a touch of texture to the look of the card.

The flowers at the bottom are punched using the matching Confetti Flower Boarder Punch.   The flowers are punched from Magenta Madness cardstock to match the card layer, as well as the sentiment layer.  I also added just a few Pearls to the punched flowers and left the stamped flowers plain.  The punched flowers are added by using a Glue Dot.  That is my Go To for adding small items.

The sentiment is one of several that go with the “Always”.  I decided to layer it with more of the Magenta Madness cardstock.  I cut both layers and then used the Banners Pick A Punch to make the flag ends.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I very much appreciate your visiting my blog and your comments.  I have commented before that I answer all of the comments with an email. So please do not think that I ignore the comments on a post.  They are awesome!

Welcome Spring

The days are getting warmer and longer, and I LOVE it!!!  Today I have a card that shows my enthusiasm for the warmer Spring weather.

One of the old time sayings has something about “coming in like a lamb”.  I cannot remember if it is Spring though.  When I saw this stamp set, Springtime Joy,  I immediately thought of Spring and Easter.  Regardless, I think this little lamb is adorable!  I kept the lamb image very simple.  I stamped using Smoky Slate Ink on Basic White cardstock.  I colored the flower headband with Petal Pink and Mint Macaron Stampin’ Blends.

The paper is from the Peony Garden Designer Series Paper.  I love the softness and the flecks of color in the larger piece.  I layered the DSP onto a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock.  The base of the card is Thick Basic White.  The ribbon wrapped around the card is Petal Pink Organdy Striped Ribbon from the Annual Catalog.  Sometimes I get carried away with the newer catalogs and don’t use the other items.

To join all of the colors together I cut two banner pieces and cut one end of each using the Banner Pick A Punch.  To finish, I decided not to layer the lamb circle.  I simply added a few Stampin’ Dimensionals and let it overlap the banners a bit.  I did add some Basic Pearls to the flowers on the lamb.  I know it is a norm to only use an odd number of embellishments, but there were four flowers, so I added four pearls.

Thank you for stopping in today.  I have the measurements just below.  Please stop by on Monday for another new project.

Measurements:

  • Card base of Thick Basic White is cut 4 1/4 X 11, scored at 5 1/2
  • Smoky Slate cardstock cut to 4 X 5 1/4
  • Peony Garden DSP cut to 1 X 5 1/8 and 2 7/8 X 5 1/8
  • Smoky Slate banner cut to 1 X 3 3/4, before punched banner
  • Basic White stamped banner cut to 1/2 X 3 1/2, before punched banner

A Purple Birthday

I love purple and I know quite a few of my friends do as well.  I wanted a purple birthday card without overdoing the single color.  Of course I turned to some of the Hydrangea Hill Designer Series Paper to get the perfect piece.  The colors and prints of that pack of paper is simply gorgeous.

Stampin' Up!, nothings better than, hydrangea hill, ornate floral, jackie beers

I hope you can see the tone on tone flowers in the DSP of the labels.  I love the softness of those colors.  I chose the Stitched Nested Labels Dies to cut the two focal layers.  I paired these with the Highland Heather cardstock for the base.  The Basic White is embossed with the Ornate Floral Embossing Folder.

The sentiment is from the Birthday Chick Dies.  I love the fun and bold Happy Birthday.  Since I have been dreaming of summer with these warmer days, I went with a fruity drink for the other panel.  It is from the Nothing’s Better Than stamp set.  I stamped off the HIghland Heather Ink for the umbrella and the liquid of the drink.  The bit of shimmer in the drink is from a touch of Wink Of Stella.  Just to add a bit more detail, I punched the drink using the Rectangle Postage Stamp Punch.

The finishing touch is the addition of just a couple of the Pastel Pearls.  They are a bit lighter than the cardstock so fit perfectly with the tone on tone of the DSP.

Thank you for stopping in today. Please come back by tomorrow for another new project.

Critters for Pals March Blog Hop

Hello, welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month our Design Team’s theme is “Cute Critters” – showcasing their card/project with adorable animals, birds, or insects for any occasion. We hope you enjoy and will be inspired by them! Don’t forget to leave comments! We love hearing from you. At the end of my post, you will find the full line-up to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

You simply cannot go wrong with Cute Critters.  The problem I had was which one to choose.  A friend recently adopted a puppy and I saw him for the first time last week.  That became my inspiration, and I added a touch of whimsy for good measure.

Stampin' Up!, hot dog, artistry blooms, stitched rectangles, jackie beers

When I saw the Hot Dog stamp set, I knew it would be perfect.  My idea came from the sitting dog and the little envelope.  I realized I could stack the dogs to reach a mailbox.  This is a great example of how the photopolymer stamps can be very flexible.  Because I could see through the stamp, It was easy to have one climbing on the back of the other.

The background paper is from the Artistry Blooms Designer Series paper.  The various shades of green matched my “out in the yard” theme.  I added the mailbox by simply using a strip of Cinnamon Cider cardstock 1/4″ wide.  The mailbox is a square of Basic Black cardstock.  I cut off a tiny bit from the end and “hinged” it with a glue dot on the back side.  To finish off the yard part, I added a couple of pieces of grass from the Dandy Wishes Die set.

The dogs are stamped and colored with Cinnamon Cider Stampin’ Blends.  I stamped the little envelope prior to die cutting the dog piece using the Stitched Rectangle Dies.  I then stamped and colored a second envelope and cut it out.  It is raised with a Mini Dimensional so it appears to go above the mailbox lid.

The sentiment is from the Hot Dog stamp set also.  I stamped and die cut it using a different Stitched Rectangle Die.  I backed the sentiment with Poppy Parade cardstock to help the Resin Hearts pop a little.  The finishing touch is a Resin Heart on the mailbox to act as a Flag.

I hope you like my whimsical pups.  Thank you very much for stopping by today.

More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Mark your calendars for our next blog hop on April 14th when our theme is “Great Family Occasions” when our Design Team creates a project for any special occasion. Don’t miss the fun! Until then, please stay safe and have fun in your craft space.

Kick Up Your Heels

I have a fun card to share today.  It is a bit whimsical in design and the paper I chose.  The title of the post should give you a hint.

Did you guess the Zany Zebra stamp set?  I love this cute little guys. I stamped them using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then hit the highlights with the Light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blend.  I debated on how to cut them out, would it look best with circles, squares, ovals, etc.  I finally decided just to do a quick trim around the image with my Paper Snips.  This is a design that is easily trimmed in this manner.  I did not get into detailed cutting, I just went easily around the edges.  New stampers, or those without a die cut machine could use this method for quite a lot of stamps.

I paired these cuties with the Snail Mail Designer Series Paper to add to my whimsical idea.  I used both sides of the same sheet of DSP.  The “Hello” side is 1 3/4 X 3 7/8, and the mushroom side is 3 3/8 X 3 7/8.  To help tie the pieces together, I added a layer of Pool Party cardstock beneath the two pieces.  Both it and the card base of Pretty Peacock work well with the colors of the mushrooms.  To finish the coordination, I added a piece of the Pretty Peacock Scalloped Linen Ribbon across the center.  The zebras are grounded by the ribbon.

The finishing touch is the sentiment.  The DSP says Hello and Bonjour, so I simply added the “Kick Up Your Heels”.  The left side zebra took me up on that and has his heels kicked up a bit.  For the flags of the sentiment, I first punched the sentiment using the Classic Label Punch.  I then placed each pointed end back into the punch to make the flags.

I appreciate you stopping by today.  Please come back tomorrow for the March Pals Blog Hop.  There will be a great variety of cards for your to hop through.

Simply Succulent

I have the Simply Succulent stamp set to share for the first time today.  There are so many great sets in the Mini Catalog, and the Annual Catalog as well, that I just have not gotten to some of them.  I have to say that I truly enjoyed playing with colors to come up with the look I wanted for this card.

Since this is a rather large stamp, I decided to let it be the full star of the show.  I stamped it on a piece of Basic White cardstock measuring 3 3/8 X 4 5/8.  It pretty much fills the paper.  I tried to give it a fairly realistic look.  I think I need just a bit of a piinkish color and it would be good.  I have all of the colors I used in the supply list.

The pot was actually stamped first and masked for the flowers.  Most folks probably stamp the flowers first and mask around the edges for the pot.  I wanted most of the pot to show since the flower part is quite large.  I used Cinnamon Cider as the pot outline and then colored with Cinnamon Cider and Cajun Craze Stampin’ Blends.

Since I decided to not add a sentiment to the front I went a step further for the focal point.  I love to use the Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blend as a “shadow” on some stamps.  I did that for this one and went all around the succulents and the pot.  It makes it look more like a painting and grounds it.

The base of the card is Terracotta Tile with the layer of Just Jade.  The Just Jade layer is 4 X 5 1/4.  I added another Terracotta Tile layer behind the White.  It measures 3 1/2 X 4 3/4.  For some added texture, I wrapped the Linen Thread around a couple of times and then added a double bow to the front.

Thank you for visiting today.  Please come back tomorrow for another new projecgt.
