A Bunny Celebration

Today’s card is another that qualifies as #simplestamping.  This one is a very “clean” card, which is not something I do very often.

Stampin' Up!, All Bundled Up, Peaceful Deer, Fine Sparkle Gems, Jackie Beers

Stamps

The All Bundled Up stamp set from the Mini Catalog is so cute!  The various little critters have been used by me several times since the catalog launched.  Animals are a favorite image and these are top notch.  These are easy to color and have some wonderful expressions.  This little guy was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then colored using Crumb Cake, Pool Party and Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends.  To help ground him, I used the light Pool Party Blend and squiggled a bit of a shadow at his feet.

The second stamp set used on this card is the Peaceful Deer stamp set.  Only sentiments were used.  There was temptation for a few of the small images of this set.  However, I restrained myself and stuck with the simplicity of the single bunny.

Layout

A layout of White on White is such a great choice and makes the perfect “clean” card.  But I went just a step further and did some dry embossing on the top layer of White.  Using my Simply Scored, I scored all four sides at 1/4″ and 3/8″.  It does not show well in the photo.  There is a bit at the top you can see. Please trust me that it is on all four sides!  With most of the top layer left white, I thought it needed a little something.  And a few score lines really add to the card.  Plus by raising the top layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals, that gives more depth to the card.

The final touch was adding a little bling.  Even a little bunny needs some bling.  So there are three of the Fine Sparkle Gems added above the sentiment.  To be different, I added two that are a Pool Party color and one of a more Balmy Blue color.

Spotlight on Mr. Moose

Mr. Moose is in the spotlight today!  By using the Spotlight Technique I am only highlighting a portion of the moose image.  This is a fun technique that is an oldy but goody!

Stampin' Up!, All Bundled Up, Lights Aglow, Gold and Rose Gold, Heart punch, Jackie Beers

Technique

The Spotlight Technique is a simple one to accomplish.  This card was made as part of the Make My Monday Challenge that I am a Design Team Member for.  You can join in the fun by creating your own version and then adding your card on the challenge page.  Simply click on the picture below to go to the page.

My version of the spotlight was created by using the Heart Punch, the smaller one, and punching a heart from a scrap of cardstock.  Next I placed the negative, the scrap of cardstock with the heart missing, over the stamped image of Mr. Moose.  After finding the perfect section to color, I used the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to draw around the inside of the negative.  A quick and easy method.  You may use any shape you wish as long as you are not covering the majority of the image.  By using the heart I thought it was a bit different and shows love for Mr. Moose.

Stamps

Because the stamped image of Mr. Moose is so large I did not add a sentiment.  But there are cute sentiments included in the stamp set named All Bundled Up, as well as a few other cute critters.  You may remember that I used the Raccoon last week.  There is also a bunny and a bird.  Mr. Moose is stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then colored using Stampin’ Blends.  As mentioned above the spotlight shape was drawn using a Black Stampin’ Write Marker.  This is the only marker that is available individually.  It is a very handy tool to have.

Paper

Leaving the paper discussion to last was very difficult for me.  This paper is amazing!!  It is from the Lights Aglow 6X6 Designer Series Paper.  All of the sheets are gorgeous but this is my favorite.  The gold simply shines and I am in love with the design on this sheet.  The colors used are very similar to the Raccoon card from last week.  But after seeing this piece of paper, I knew it was The One to help Mr. Moose be the star!

And to further help Mr. Moose shine, I added more gold to bring out the gold in the DSP piece.  It is not just a plain Gold Foil however.  This is the Gold and Rose Gold 6×6 Metallic Specialty Paper.  It carried over to the current Annual Catalog from last year’s Fall Mini.  And I am so happy.  Both colors in this paper pack are wonderful.  Before you shake your head at me for wasting some of this beautiful paper, rest assured that I took this into consideration.  I cut the layer behind Mr. Moose from the center of the larger gold layer.  No one but me would know, and it saves a second piece of the paper.  Now you can released the shocked breath you took after seeing two layers of gold! 🙂

The Coolest

The weather is most definitely NOT saying Winter, but today’s card may “cool” you off a bit.  It is such a fun set of bundled up critters.

Stampin' Up!, All Bundled Up, Winter Embossing Folder, Painted Christmas, Label Me Fancy, Natural Finish Ribbon, Jackie Beers

Stamps

The All Bundled Up stamp set has such adorable animals, who are all “bundled” up with cute scarves and hats.  It is definitely making me warm just thinking about it since the weather here in Georgia is anything but cool right now.  However, we all need to begin thinking of our Christmas cards before long.  And this stamp set would be great for any time of year that the weather is a bit cooler.  Plus the sentiment gives a fun twist to the little raccoon’s outfit.

The raccoon is stamp stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black and then colored with Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends.  His scarf and hat are colored using Soft Succulent and Sea Foam Stampin’ Blends.  For a bit of semi-bling, but not really, I added the single snow flake to the raccoon layer.  There are actually three different snowflakes on that stamp and they are used on the inside of the card.  The sentiment is from the stamp set and is stamped using Pool Party Ink, as is the snowflake.

Paper

The colors used are from the piece of DSP.  That paper is the Painted Christmas Designer Series paper, which is a carryover from last Fall Mini Catalog into the current one.   By using the darkest color for the card base and coming forward with lighter colors gives a different look I think.  And is not something I tend to even think about.  Evening Evergreen is the base card with a layer of Soft Succulent.  The strip of DSP is cut 5 X 1 3/4 and is adhered directly to the Soft Succulent layer.  Simply leave the correct edging distance on the bottom and sides for fitting.

Embossing Etc.

To pair with the DSP layer I went with the Winter 3D Embossing Folder Duo.  These two embossing folders are sized to work on the Mini Cut & Emboss Machine.  This one is snowflakes and the second one is evergreen bows.  Either would have worked, but I was thinking snow!  The embossed layer is Basic White and is cut 5 X 2.  It is layered abutting the DSP layer with the same distance on the sides and top.  And even if it did not meet perfectly, the Natural Finish Ribbon covers the joining line.

To highlight the sentiment, I could not find two punches or dies to layer that fit in the area I had left.  After debating I finally decided upon the Label Me Fancy Punch.  The sentiment was cut using the punch and then a second piece was punched from a scrap of the Evening Evergreen.  This piece was cut up the center.  By layering these two pieces to each end of the sentiment, you get just enough of a frame of green.  And you really do not even notice that none is showing above and below the white.  For the final touch a single Festive Pearl was added on the sentiment layer.

Beauty of the Earth

To pair with the Winter theme from yesterday, I have another Winter card to share with you.  This one is more of snow and trees.  The idea for this card was from the paper.  It is the Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper.  I love this pack of great designs and color of paper, but find I have not been using it.

Stampin' Up!, Beauty of Friendship, Beauty of the Earth, Flowing Flowers, Fan Bakers Twine, Jackie Beers

Paper

The blue trees of the DSP is what set the tone of this card.  Because of the DSP, I did an unusual mix of Misty Moonlight and Soft Succulent.  And it makes me happy to say that I love this coordination!  The focal tree is also stamped in Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen, with some snowflakes in Balmy Blue.  But the DSP reminds me of a snowy night scene!

Stamps

The stamped tree is from the Beauty of Friendship stamp set.  It pairs with the paper, and was the perfect tree for my snow scene.  For the sentiment, I went with the new Flowing Flowers stamp set.  I love that “Time For A Happy Dance”.  It reminds me of childhood when it snowed!  Just to be different, I fussy cut around the sentiment.  Then I layered it onto a scrap of Misty Moonlight and followed my first fussy cutting to create the layer.  As a finishing touch, I used the Navy Bakers Twine from the Fan Bakers Twine pack to create the ribbon and bow.

Winter Is Here

The idea for today’s post is somewhat humorous.  I live in Georgia and we do not get a lot of Winter.  The temperature goes up and down with some fairly cold mixed in.  But most of the time our winters are pleasant.  Today’s card if for the Make My Monday Challenge and the theme is Winter.  Well…..by the time this post is live on Monday, assuming forecasts are correct, we will have had a Snowy, Icy, day.  So no more Winter Themes for me!!!  LOL!!

Stampin' Up!, On The Horizon, New Horizon, Perfectly Plaid, Jackie Beers

The Make My Monday Challenge can be reached by clicking on the picture.  You can see the Winter cards made by the other Design Team Members and add your own card if you wish.

The Paper

I wish I could say that I created that beautiful scene.  But sadly, I did not.  It is from the new and awesome New Horizons Designer Series Paper in the Mini Catalog.  In my mind, and in thinking of Winter, I see this scene as a frozen pond or a snowy field.  By using different stamps it could be a totally different scene / time of year.  All of these papers are this fabulous!!

The Stamps and Dies

The On The Horizon Bundle is a match to the great paper.  These stamps are designed to be stamped onto the paper for scenery as I have made.  I did use the birds and the wood piece for the sentiment from the stamp set.  There is a matching die for the wood piece.  To help my scene look a bit more like winter, I added the trees on the bottom right.  They are from my favorite Christmas set in the Annual Catalog, Perfectly Plaid.

January Snowflakes

January snowflakes with a supple shimmer. Sparkle and bling create beautiful snowflakes that are neither cold or wet!

Today’s project is a mix of Old, New and Retiring products.  This project is for the Make My Monday Challenge where I am on the Design Team.  This challenge is simply Snowflakes!

Stampin' Up!, Merry Snowflakes, Stitched Rectangle, Supple Shimmer, Rhinestones, Merry Melody, Jackie Beers

I mentioned above that this is the Make My Monday Challenge.  You are welcome to play along.  And you can visit the website by clicking on the icon below.

Retiring Products

As I said, I have a mix of going away, coming in, and current products in this card.  The Retiring Products are the Snowflakes and sentiment.  They are from the Merry Snowflakes Bundle.  It is all in the details as they say.  And these snowflakes have detail galore!  Also they cut beautifully even with the glitter paper!

The Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder is from the Mini Catalog which expires at the end of today also.  It is going to carryover however.  That is awesome because it gives great detail to a card.  And since I have Zero Musical ability, it is a way for me to add some.LOL!!

New Products

The gorgeous Supple Shimmer Specialty Paper is coming in the January-June Mini Catalog which debuts tomorrow.  (If you have seen the paper in a catalog, the shimmery white/pool party color is shown as a blue in the catalog photos.  This is the real color of it.)  I love that there are two different colors of the shimmer paper.  And as you can see, it cut wonderfully using the snowflakes dies.  That is a definite Win!

Current Products

I used Blushing Bride as the card base to match the pink of the Shimmer paper.  It is paired with Pool Party, which pulls the blue of the second shimmer paper.   To also go along the pink theme, I used Polished Pink ink to stamp the sentiment.

The sentiment is die cut using the Rectangle Stitched Dies.  These are a staple to my die collection as they fit most any stamp with one die or the other.  There are quite a few in the set.  And for the last touch of bling, I added a variety of sizes of Rhinestones.  You just cannot have too much bling with snowflakes.  They are a jewel all by themselves.

Before I go,  I want to say I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday!  I had an unexpected physical issue and have been missing in action since mid December.  No Christmas cards went out, no posts, etc.  I haven’t even delivered some gifts!  But all is well, or getting there.

That said, I wanted to offer you one more chance at my Product Shares.  I will place the order tomorrow….So today is the last chance.  If you reach out and can pay with Paypal, or are local, I can get you added to the list.  Click on my SHOP at the menu bar and then Product Shares.  There is a form to complete which will notify me.
