InKing Royalty December Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s December Blog Hop! We have created wintry projects to share with you today – snow, sleds and mittens are sure to be found in our lineup. We are excited to share our creations and hope you love them! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

My Winter card is a young deer enjoying the snow and trees.  It is the Best Time of Year!  I went back to the Annual Catalog for this project.

Stampin' Up!, Peaceful Deer, Painted Christmas, Essentials Twine, Festive Pearls, Jackie Beers

Stamps

Today’s card is another one stamp set card.  All of the stamped images are from the Peaceful Deer stamp set.  And since it is in the Annual Catalog, it is not going away until at least May!  I do love this set.  There are so many ways to use these trees and different deer.  I focused on the special deer with the sweet saying.  And the sentiment layer goes along with that one.

The colors used are Soft Suede for the deer.  Evening Evergreen was used on the all of the trees.  And Pool Party for the snow flakes and at the deer’s feet.  The sentiment is stamped also in Evening Evergreen.

Papers

I was searching for a complimentary paper to the scene I was creating when I found not one but two pieces.  Actually they are the front and back of the same piece.  That is a winner / winner!!  Of course the papers had the Soft Suede of the deer, but they also directed me to the Evening Evergreen for the trees.  Soft Suede is not one I use very often.  However I am really loving how it brings out the pine cones.

Finishes

Between all of the trees and the busy papers the card has a lot going on.  I still needed some bling and to settle the scene.  So out came the Festive Pearls in the soft green.  It seems similar to the light in the pine cone paper as well as matching the Pool Party snow.  Those are scattered around the scene.  But I also added a darker twine from the Essentials Bakers Twine Combo Pack.  Twine works wonderfully with more rustic colors.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you’ll hop along to the next stop on the blog hop, Jan Dufour at Stamp Me Silly.

Warm Winter

Today’s card is a Winter card instead of a Christmas one.  The weather has turned colder even here in the South.  It is now sweater weather and the paper used reminds me of a sweater pattern.  Additionally this card is for the Make My Monday Challenge and that is for a Winter card.

Everyone is welcome to join in on the Make My Monday Challenges.  Simply click on the icon and you will see all of the design team cards.  And you can add your own version of the current challenge.

Paper

My idea for the Winter card came from the piece of DSP.  It is from the Storybook Gnomes Designer Series Paper.  This pattern is a sweater pattern to me.  This soft blue is different than all of the Christmas cards I have been making.  But also is the color of cold !  This lead to an almost monochromatic card.

Stamps

After deciding on paper I went looking for a stamp to match.  I immediately thought of the All Bundled Up stamp set where the sweet critters are all wearing scarves.  By using the sweet little cardinal, it allows a lot more of the DSP to shine.  The cardinal is stamped and colored with Stampin’ Blends.  And to add some additional stamping, I added the snowflakes as well as a bit of “snow” on the ground.  A few squiggles of Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blend is all it took.

Finishes

To complete my warm sweater card, I added one of the Wonderful Snowflakes to the mix.  The iridescent shine is perfect.  And just a few of the Fine Sparkle Gems scattered around completed the card.  Even though I put more than an odd number of them.  I can never get that correct 🙂

Trees For Sale

I have a fun and simple card for you today.  It stars the Trees For Sale stamp set.  The set is a sleeper in the Mini Catalog.  However, I think it is such a Fun Set!

Stampin' Up!, Trees For Sale, Festive Pearls, Blending Brushes, Layering Circles, Jackie Beers

Background

The background is not the star of the show, but I have to begin there.   You may recognize that shape around the trees.  It is made using the negative from yesterday’s card.  I used that scalloped Layering Circles negative with Pool Party Ink and a Blending Brush to create it.  The trees were stamped while the negative was still in place to allow one to be only partially in the picture.  Hopefully you will now look at your die cut negatives with added interest!

Stamps

This stamp set is named Trees For Sale, and that is the scene I created.  The trees are stamped using Old Olive Ink.  Then the detail stamp is added using Garden Green Ink.  It may be a bit on the contrast side, but I like the bolder look.

To finish I added the garland of lights at the top.  Tree lots have Christmas lights around their space for cheer and light.  Since the set is Photopolymer, I was able to bend the strand of lights to fit.  It was not quite long enough to reach side to side.  For an added touch, I added different colors of Festive Pearls as the “light bulbs”.   To finish that scene, I stamped the Trees For Sale sign and then fussy cut it.  It is placed partially outside of the circle and raised to stand out even more.

Storybook Winter

Today’s card is a pretty Winter scene that could be used for any occasion.  Sometimes I forget about a simple seasonal card.

Stampin' Up!, Storybook Gnomes, Beauty of Friendship, Jackie Beers

Paper

This paper is really the star of the card in my opinion.  It is from the Storybook Gnomes Designer Series paper.  And it is a sweet Winter scene with a mix of blues and browns.  For the card base I went with Early Espresso to highlight the tree bases.  But the sentiment layer is framed with Night of Navy for some contrast.

Stamp Sets

To compliment the paper, I found the little animals in the Peaceful Deer stamp set.  It is in the Annual Catalog and carried over from last year’s Mini.  These cute little guys seemed right at home with this scene in the paper.  Both of them were stamped with Early Espresso and colored with Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends.  And for this perfect sentiment I went to the Beauty of Friendship stamp set.  It also is in the Annual Catalog.

Fold

This is the triple bar card that I have shared a couple of times before.  Today’s version may be my favorite because of the paper and how it looks like a solid piece instead of the strips when closed.  Here is a partially open view where you can see how it slides apart.

And here is a previous versions.  This fold was cased from Connie Stewart.  Here is the link.

Winter Mittens

Quick layouts for cards are wonderful to have in your craft room book of tricks.  Today’s card is one that is quick and really cute.  A favorite Bundle is used for this one and would make a variety of themes as well.

Stampin' Up!, Celebrate With Tags, Storybook Gnomes, Decorative Circle Punch, Jackie Beers

Bundle

Today’s fun card is made using the Celebrate With Tags Bundle (and Celebrations Tag Dies).  I have used the tag from this set a few times, but today is all about the mitten.  There is only one mitten.  So to create the double, I simply overlapped the thumb section of the bottom one.  No one will ever know there are not two to stamp! The mittens are stamped using Bermuda Bay Ink and look like wonderful Winter Mittens!  To tie them together, LOL!, I added a length of White Bakers Twine.

Sentiment

To complete the mitten theme this sentiment seemed perfect.  Warm Wishes is from the Kindest Gnomes stamp set.  And the banner comes from the Celebration With Tags Bundle.  The two seem to be made for each other.  Finding sentiments that fit on banners from different sets is like a bonus I believe!

The final touch for the mittens and sentiment is the Decorative Circle Punch layer grounding them.  As you know, I use this punch quite often.  It seems to be a perfect size for quite a lot of images.  And do not forget a touch of bling.  The mitten has a single Rhinestone in the center of the snowflake.

Papers

Being mentioned last does not negate the fact that the DSP piece is what decided the colors of the card and the mittens.  This snowflake layer is from the Storybook Gnomes Designer Series paper.  The soft snowflakes are perfect for the mittens.  Plus the Pool Party works wonderfully with the Bermuda Bay.

September Fun Fold Blog Hop

Today’s Fun Fold is more of a Double Card plus a bit more!  It is very flexible and can be utilized as a gift card holder as well as a regular card.  And with that confusing beginning, here is my card.

Stampin' Up!, Kindest Gnomes, Storybook Gnomes DSP, Rectangle Stitched Dies, Ringed With Nature, Jackie Beers

The Star is the Paper

There are more pictures to show the various parts of the card.  But I wanted to show how pretty this Storybook Gnomes Designer Series Paper is.  There are two layers of the DSP used here on the front.  Actually there is no stamping required here at all.  Simply use two complimentary papers and some pretty ribbon.

Gift Card holder

Here is a view of the small card on the front open to reveal a gift card.  The ribbon tied around this section ensures the card will not accidentally fall out.  If you do not want to include a gift card, a little piece of cardstock with a second sentiment would work perfectly.

Inside View

This inside sentiment and the cute little gnome is the only stamping I have on this card.  I love the gnomes and colored him to match the paper on front of the small card.  Also, the matching dies to the Kindest Gnomes Bundle will cut a little gnome from the DSP if you would rather go that direction.

Directions

The card base of Coastal Cabana is cut to 5 1/2 X 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4.  The small card is 7 1/2 X 3 3/4 and scored at 2 1/2 and 5.  At the 5″ score line, cut from the top of the score line down to the bottom right corner.  When folded in, this makes the pocket.  Apply Tear & Tape to only the bottom of that angle to finish the pocket.

The Pale Papaya large layer is 4 X 5 1/4 with the DSP cut to 3 7/8 X 5 1/8.  And the small Pale Papaya is cut to 2 1/4 X 3 1/2.  For the small DSP layer I used the Stitched Rectangle Dies to add a little extra to the cute gnomes.  Prior to adhering the small card to the center front of the large card, add the length of ribbon behind it.  Tip:  Go ahead and tie the bow to ensure you have enough ribbon.
