Joy and Funky Fold

Happy New Catalog Day!!  Today is the launch of the Holiday Catalog.  WooHoo!!  I love the suites and products.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  Also, the Designer Series Paper Special begins today.  I have a picture under Updates at the bottom which lists the papers on sale.

Now on to today’s project.  I am sharing one of the new Designer Series Papers from the Holiday Catalog on this card.

I adore this DSP!!  It is photos on one side and silver designs on the opposite side.  I used my current favorite color of Seaside Spray for the base as well as the New Metallic Ribbon in Seaside Spray.  The ribbon is in the Holiday Catalog as well.

The card is an idea I got from seeing a money envelope at the Dollar Tree.  I did not measure it, I should have!!  But I just played with it until I liked the angles.  I am working on my first video and it is this angle.  I will go ahead and try to explain so you can recreate it.

  • The base is 4 1/4 X 11, scored at 3 3/4 and 7 3/4.  Fold and burnish on the score lines.
  • The shorter of the ends will be the top.  Fold the bottom up and leave the top out flat.
  • Place the score line of the top on the 1″ mark of your cutter, and place the opposite point in the cutting groove.  (You have to slide it away from the top bar to have room for the folded card to lay.
  • When you cut this, you create the angle. Even though it was from the 1″, the distance down on the short side is actually 1 1/8″.   I have no idea why that is, but it works out.
  • Cut DSP to 3 5/8 X 4 1/8 for bottom and 3 X 4 1/8 for top angle.
  • With the top DSP, place it with the top against the top bar of the cutter, turn it counterclockwise and place it at the 1″ mark.  Make a tick mark just beyond the cutting track on the edge of the paper.  (This way you cut you are cutting just to the left of the tick mark and it will be cut away.)  Now place the tick mark in the cutting track and also the opposite corner.  Make your cut.  This will fit perfectly on the angle flap.

I hope these directions are clear enough.  I will try to have the video very soon.  I think this is a super cute card and can be adjusted to different sizes once you have the basics.

Thanks for checking in today and I hope you are enjoying the new catalog.  Please come back tomorrow.

My September Host Code is VYHZ6ZM2.  Please use this code for orders under $150.00.  I will have a small perk for those with orders over $50.00.

Be Jolly for GDP165

I have another of the adorable snowmen for the Global Design Project color challenge.  The challenge is for Merry Merlot, Tranquil Tide , and Crumb Cake.  Well who would not love that mix of colors????  I use them regularly.  And especially with the Joyous Noel Designer Series Paper.  So here is my Jolly Snowman.

My card is one that any level stamper could quickly duplicate.  I stamped the snowman with Memento Tuxedo Ink and then colored him with the above colors.  The only addition is Pumpkin Pie for his nose and pool party to give some depth to his “snow”.  A little swipe is all it takes for that.

The gorgeous ribbon is the reversible Merry Merlot / Copper ribbon in the Holiday Catalog.  It is so pretty. I did twist the ribbon in making the knot so that only the Merlot side showed.  I then adhered the sentiment with a row of glue dots.  As I said, easy peasy!!!

Thank you for visiting today!  I greatly appreciate it.  I hope you will return tomorrow for another quick and easy project.

Winter Cheer

It is so hard to think of Winter and Christmas here in the South when the temperature still acts like it is July!  Yikes, I am ready for a little cooler weather.  Maybe my card for today will give you a little hint of cooler weather with some Winter Cheer!

Spirited Snowman, 148072

This cute little person looks so happy and cool that I just had to have this stamp set.  You can never go wrong with snowmen, or snowwomen, right?  They are great for all of the winter, not just for Christmas.  At least that is what I told myself! LOL!!  Like I need a reason to buy a stamp set.

This is really a quick card.  I only colored the snowman’s accessories plus just a touch of the Light Pool Party around the edges of his body to give the illusion of a blueish ice.  The designer paper is the Festive Farmhouse DSP.  I also added some of the Silver Thread for a touch of texture behind the snowman.

I have all of the measurements and the supplies I used listed as you go down the post. (Oops:  I did not list the Cherry Cobbler Ink in the supply list!)

I appreciate you visiting and love to read your comments.  Thank you for stopping by today.

A Hug in a Mug

The Hug In A Mug stamp set is sort of a “sleeper” in the Holiday Catalog.  I looked at it but passed it by in all of my flips through the catalog.  That changed when I was given the set as part of the festivities at Brian King and Pam Morris’s World Card Making Day in Atlanta.  After the hot chocolate treat favor we made with the set, I was definitely in love.  So I have made some hot chocolate for you today.

I apologize for my poor photography.  The foil in this Foil Frenzy DSP is hard to photograph.  It just wants to shine!!  Today’s card is a 4 X 4 card.  I can see making a lot of these for the winter months (or when Mother Nature decides to stay cold here in the south!).

I hope this card will give you incentive to check out this stamp set.  It is on page 42 of the Holiday Catalog.  It is a set that would be perfect year round.

Again, the DSP was my color chart.  The Foil Frenzy paper is wonderful.  It is more of a Craft than Crumb Cake but it all works together.  I added the white layer to tie in to the stamped layer.  But it is super quick and easy card.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card.  I appreciate your visiting and hope you have a fun and safe Halloween.

Reminder:  The last day for the DSP sale…………

Framed Candles

The extra Host Rewards set for October is the one I have used today.  The name is Merry Patterns.  I am sure you have seen it on  other blogs and Pinterest.  I must say that it is a WOW!  It is technically triple layer stamping, but it is the best Stampin’ Up! has ever had in that regard.  Check this out….

For a smaller 4 X 4 card the simplicity makes the candles really pop.  You could make several of these in a flash!

As you look as these super duper cute candles, you can see that some are in front and some behind.  The stamps are the same way.  You stamp the entire outline as one.  Then you have a stamp that are the behind ones (in blue) and then the front ones, and another for the candle color fill.  Oh my!  And being photopolymer, it is so super easy to line it up.  This is definitely a great set.

The colors I used are Smoky Slate Island Indigo and then the touch of Daffodil Delight.  I love blue and silver for Christmas.  Although I could see this in Fall colors as well.

I mentioned how easy it is to do the layers for the candles.  I stamped them on Shimmery White just to give it a little sparkle.  When I was finished layering the pieces to check out my idea, I thought it needed something else.  But instead of going with an embossed background or DSP for the background, I decided to add the touch of ribbon to accent the flames of the candles.  There isn’t really room to do the strip under the center piece.  So I thought back to some old ideas and came up with just looping on the corners like old photo corner holders.  (I’m showing my age there!!)

Thank you so much for visiting today.  I hope you like this card and will check out this set.  It can be yours FREE with a $300.00 party.  If you are interested please let me know.  I would be excited to help you.

Metallic Thank You

This card is my first using the Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper.  Oh My !!  This paper is gorgeous.  The picture of my card, and the photos in the catalog, do not do it justice.  It is awesome !

Stampin' Up! Labels To Love, stampinup labels to love, Jackie Beers, jackiebeers

Labels to Love, 144967

My plan was to showcase the beautiful DSP and the oversized banner was what I chose.  Because of the gold, I could not decide on a base color.  By going with the white, it keeps it clean, but I needed something to highlight the gold.  So I decided to add the little bit of black.

I have been trying to use these beautiful Foil Snowflakes since I got them before the catalog even went live.  And all of a sudden there it was, the perfect spot for the snowflake!  I added the strip of black as if the snowflake is a wreath or a hanging ornament.  I am not sure which idea I prefer.

The sentiment is from the “must have” set Labels To Love.  The set covers several holidays.  This sentiment I believe can be used at any time.  I rarely heat emboss, ( maybe once a year! ).  However with the gold in the DSP and the snowflake, I had to emboss the sentiment.  I am so proud of myself that it turned out well.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I very  much appreciate you looking at my creations and for the nice comments.
