Pals March Fun Fold Hop

Spring brings blooming flowers and trees.  I have a Fun Fold using the You’r A Peach DSP sheet with peach blossoms blooming.  It is paired with the Flowing Flowers stamp set.

Stampin' Up!, Flowing Flowers, You're A Peach, Tasteful Labels Dies, Rhinestones Waves, Jackie Beers

The Fold

Today’s card is a Fun Fold with a twist to a Gate Fold card.  And I cased it from one of my Stamp Club ladies, Velda North,  at a recent card swap.  The best part is that it is fairly straightforward and simple to do.  Here is a view of the open card, which shows the bit of a twist.

You hopefully can see that the card base is a single layer cut to 4 1/4 X 5 1/2.  The “Gate Fold” layer is cut 8 1/2 X 5 1/4 and scored at 1 3/4 and 5 3/4.  That leaves a 4″ center section.  The front DSP is the sheet from You’re A Peach Designer Series Paper.  The two pieces are cut 1 1/2  X 5 and 2 1/2 X 5.  The DSP strip on the bottom of the inside is from the same pack as well and coordinates perfectly.

Stamp Set

The lovely flowers that I believe mimic the little peach blossoms are from the Flowing Flowers stamp set.  And all three of the sentiments are from the set as well.  Having such a variety of sentiments is wonderful and the fact that they work together is even better.  The flowers are stamped using Bumblebee Ink.  It is one of the colors in the DSP.  However, I used the Calypso Coral and Petal Pink Stampin’ Write Markers to do some little touches for shading to match the paper.  This technique goes way back, and was great when there was limited coloring options.  Now it is a simple way to add more than one color to a red rubber stamp.

Front Closure

Most gate fold cards have a bellyband to keep them closed.  I struggle a bit with those so tend to leave them off.  Since this card overlaps on the front, I didn’t feel it needed the bellyband…Yay!!  And my friend did not utilize a bellyband either, she used scalloped dies for the sentiment layer.  I went with the Tasteful Labels Dies.  There are a variety of design shapes with different edgings in this set of dies.  But they all work together.  The two I chose both have the ticket corners to them.  And you cannot see it in the photo but there is a thin embossed border around the larger shape.  These are a bit different and a lot of Fun!!

Finishing Touches

With the business of the DSP, I did not want, and did not think much “bling” would work.  So I went with a very simple bling.  The green rhinestones with the flowers fulfill two things.  They add bling, which is a must have, and they add some green to the little bunch of flowers.  This mimics the DSP flowers a bit.  The little rhinestones are from the Rhinestone Waves Jewels as part of the Waves of the Ocean Bundle.  The colors in the pack range from a light blue, medium and dark blue, to this beautiful green.  You can click on the image below and see the complete PDF of products.

Daffodils in Bloom

All of my daffodils are in bloom , and for me, that means Spring is around the corner.  Today’s card is bit of a fun fold with a daffodil for the beauty.

Stampin' Up!, Daffodil Daydreams, Daffodil Afternoon, Rhinestones, Cotton Ribbon Combo, Jackie Beers

Stamps

The gorgeous daffodil highlighting the front of this Fun Fold is from the Daffodil Daydreams Bundle.  There are dies that make layered daffodils, which are outstanding.  But I wanted just a single and more simple one for this card.  The single flower is stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then colored with Stampin’ Blends.  As an accent, the butterfly was stamped and colored as well.

After die cutting the flower and butterfly, they are added with Stampin’ Dimensionals for depth.  And of course they required a bit of bling.  So each received a single Rhinestone.  To finish off the flower, I tied a bow using the Cotton Ribbon Combo of the Blushing Bride.  This is a great width of ribbon and being cotton it is very easy to work with!

Paper

I apologize for using a retired DSP here.  The card was made at the end of Sale-A-Bration and then didn’t get posted.  It is the Daffodil Afternoon Designer Series Paper.  However, there are so many gorgeous papers from Stampin’ Up!, that I am sure several would work just as well.

Measurements

This is a fun fold that I have seen a few times.  The flap can be placed anywhere on the front of the card for different looks.  I placed it towards the left side this time.

  • Daffodil Delight is cut to 4 1/4 X 5 1/2
  • DSP is cut to 4 X 5 1/4
  • The flap is Daffodil Delight cut to 2 1/4 X 10 1/2, scored at 5 1/4
  • The flap DSP is cut to 2 X 5
  • The inside White is cut to 2 X 5

Fold and burnish the Daffodil strip of cardstock and adhere to the base layer, placing in your choice of locations.  Adhere it with an equal border at the top and bottom.  Layer the large DSP over top of the bottom layer of the flap.  Then adhere the strip of DSP to the front of the flap.  Decorate with the flower and butterfly.  Stamp the greeting on the White layer and adhere to the inside.  Be careful that it is in alignment with the top of the fold so it is not seen when the flap is closed.

Picture This with Goats

Before I get into today’s project I want you to know about 3 promotions that are currently going on!  I have pictures of each at the bottom of  the post where you can click and go to a pdf of all of the details.  The best one is the first one!  It is 20% off of the Mini Cut & Emboss Machine, plus 20% off the bundles that work with the Mini.  An awesome way to stock up on great products.

Today’s card is another project using the Picture This Dies. It is paired with the Way To Goat stamp set.  Who wouldn’t love these goofy goats!!

Stampin' Up!, Way To Goat, Picture This, Jackie Beers

Stamps

The Way To Goat stamp set is such a fun set and one I had not used in a while.  It fits wonderfully within the circles of the Picture This Dies.  For coloring I wanted to leave the goats mostly white, but they needed some color.  So they all got some funny Smoky Slate hair styles.  The top two goats look so happy and the bottom one looks like he is up to something!  They are such a fun set!

Dies

As I said in the beginning, this is another project with the Picture This Dies using the circle one.  There is also a rectangle die that I have a project to share with you later in the week.  Surprisingly there are quite a few stamp sets that will fit in the circles or the rectangles.

Paper and embellishments

For a switch I did not use any designer series paper on this project.  That is a shocker !!  But, I did choose colors from the SAB Sunshine & Rainbows.  I wanted it to be bright since the goats were fairly plain in color.  Magenta Madness paired with Pear Pizzaz is a good one I believe.  And the heart from the Best Deliver stamp set fit perfectly with my idea.  To finish off the card the gray dots in the Classic Matte Dots worked great.  It just needed a little bit of soft bling!

Below are all of the current promotions.  Please look through them and let me know if you have any questions.  If you do not have a demonstrator, I would love to assist you. And if you place an order, please use my Host Code that is along the side bar and at the bottom of the page, depending on the device you are using.  Thank You!!

Ice Cream Birthday

Ice Cream in winter may seem a bit odd.  Although I believe Ice Cream at anytime is a great idea!!  The Simply Marbleous Designer Series Paper looks a bit like swirly ice cream and is a great way to do an (almost) tone on tone card.

Stampin' Up!, Sweet Ice Cream, Ice Cream Builder Punch, Marbleous DSP, Jackie Beers

Sweet Ice Cream

There is never a bad time for ice cream in my mind.  When I was a child there was an ice cream shop near us and my favorite, actually my only, flavor was Grape.  When I first saw this piece of DSP, I immediately thought of that ice cream.  So out came the Sweet Ice Cream stamp set and Ice Cream Builder Punch.

Everything is stamped with Gorgeous Grape Ink except the cone.  Because of the DSP placement, I actually adhered the DSP prior to stamping.  I wanted to make sure I had room for everything.  Plus it gave me a straight line for the “with sprinkles”  part of the sentiment.  This is a quick and easy card.  As a test run, I made one using the pink piece of the DSP, and it is just as pretty!

Paper

The Simply Marbleous Designer Series Paper is a FREE Sale-A-Bration item.  It is FREE to you with a $50.00 product order.  And SAB ends on the 28th!  All of these pieces are gorgeous.  But the Gorgeous Grape piece is the brightest of all.  The ice cream scoops are each a different side of the DSP.  I love the two slightly different looks you see.

To make this card I cut the base of Gorgeous Grape to 5 1/2 X 8 1/2 scored and folded at 4 1/4.  Then a layer of Basic White that is cut to 4 X 5 1/4.  And a piece of the DSP that is cut to 4 X 5 1/4.  Except I then cut the DSP piece from portrait position at the upper left corner to the bottom right corner.  Since the paper is not directional, you now have two identical pieces and can make two cards from this one DSP.  I adhered the half piece of DSP edge to edge on the White layer.

Otter Corner Flip

I have another Fun Fold to share with you today.  It is starring the Awesome Otters stamp set from Sale-A-Bration.  These little guys are adorable!

Stampin' Up!, Awesome Otters, Friendly Hello, Jackie Beers

***  I crack myself up sometimes….. I made this card for a class and could not decide what was best to put on the bottom DSP in way of a sentiment.  Yesterday I found a perfect Happy Birthday to fit in the space.  And then I mailed it without taking an updated photo!!  So put your imagination to work for the sentiment please.

Stamps

The stamp set is the Awesome Otters from Sale-A-Bration.  I love this set!  Animal sets are always a favorite of mine.  They are fun to color and have a good time with.  For this card  I chose this guy for the front, but also added one to the inside of the Fun Fold.  It is like a Surprise Party!

Paper

I wanted a Happy card, so I went with a Happy Color.  Granny Apple Green is one that always brings a smile for me.  And the Friendly Hello Designer Series Paper strip is full of Happy colors.  This is also from SAB and is part of the Friendly Hello stamp and DSP combo for a $100.00 order.

After coloring the Otters, I wanted a bit more.  So I stamped the party hat on the inside layer, but also on a piece of scratch paper.  It is fussy cut and then glued on top of the standing Otter’s head.  I wanted it to go above the square a bit for some definition.

Fun Fold

This Corner Flip Card is a CASE from The Paper Pixie, Julie DiMatteo.  She is the best on videos and directions.  So here is the link to her  post and video.  Click Here

Sale-A-Bration is Winding Down…….so place your orders now for this fun set.  If you have any questions or do not have a current demonstrator, I would love to assist you!!

Birthday for InKing Royalty Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s February Blog Hop! This is a great time of year to build your stash of handmade birthday cards, so we are sharing birthday-themed projects with you today. We are excited to share our creations and hope you love them! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

My choice for a great birthday card is the pairing of Honeybee Home stamps with the Abstract Beauty Designer Series Paper.  And of course, a Fun Fold!

Stampin' Up!, Honeybee Home, Sentimental Swirls, Abstract Beauty, Genial Gems, Jade & Gold Braided Ribbon, Jackie Beers

Paper

The gorgeous DSP is from t he Abstract Beauty 4 X 6 Designer Series Paper.  These sheets have beautiful colors plus some gold accents.  I chose to pair this piece with a bold Magenta Madness as the base card.  And surprisingly a soft Balmy Blue for the layer.  I love how they look together.  There is also the back of the flowered DSP as the layer behind the focal flower.

Stamps

Even though the brightest star of the card is the beautiful paper, I do love the stamped flower.  It is from the Honeybee Home Bundle.  I stamped , colored, and then Die cut with the matching die.  And the Happy Birthday is from the Sentimental Swirls set.  (I used that set on Monday’s card).  The font and the size of the sentiment fit perfectly in the open space.

Finishes

To finish this fun layout, I added a bow to the flower.  It is the Jade & Gold Braided Ribbon in the Annual Catalog.  And it is amazing to work with!  In a way, it sort of stretches.  And I will say that the ends fray when cut.  But the way it stretches and flattens out makes for a beautiful bow!  For the final touch I added three of the Genial Gems next to the sentiment.  And yes there is still plenty of room to sign and write a note beneath the upper and lower flaps plus the flower layer.

Layout

This fun card layout, or Fun Fold, is a Mary Fish sketch.  It is #38 if you want to see her versions of the design.  I love that it is a Fun Fold but yet very quick and easy to do.

  • The card base of Magenta Madness s 4 1/4 X 9 1/4 (if you take 4 1/4 X 11 and cut off the 1 3/4 save that for the flower layer)
  • The Balmy Blue layer is 4 X 1 5/8 (x2)
  • The DSP layer is 3 3/4 X 1 3/8 (x2)
  • The focal layer is Magenta Madness (the cut off piece) 4 1/4 X 1 3/4
  • The focal layer DSP is 4 X 1 1/2
  • The inside White is 4 X 5 1/4
  • The focal layer is only adhered to the top flap!
