Spring brings blooming flowers and trees. I have a Fun Fold using the You’r A Peach DSP sheet with peach blossoms blooming. It is paired with the Flowing Flowers stamp set.
The Fold
Today’s card is a Fun Fold with a twist to a Gate Fold card. And I cased it from one of my Stamp Club ladies, Velda North, at a recent card swap. The best part is that it is fairly straightforward and simple to do. Here is a view of the open card, which shows the bit of a twist.
You hopefully can see that the card base is a single layer cut to 4 1/4 X 5 1/2. The “Gate Fold” layer is cut 8 1/2 X 5 1/4 and scored at 1 3/4 and 5 3/4. That leaves a 4″ center section. The front DSP is the sheet from You’re A Peach Designer Series Paper. The two pieces are cut 1 1/2 X 5 and 2 1/2 X 5. The DSP strip on the bottom of the inside is from the same pack as well and coordinates perfectly.
Stamp Set
The lovely flowers that I believe mimic the little peach blossoms are from the Flowing Flowers stamp set. And all three of the sentiments are from the set as well. Having such a variety of sentiments is wonderful and the fact that they work together is even better. The flowers are stamped using Bumblebee Ink. It is one of the colors in the DSP. However, I used the Calypso Coral and Petal Pink Stampin’ Write Markers to do some little touches for shading to match the paper. This technique goes way back, and was great when there was limited coloring options. Now it is a simple way to add more than one color to a red rubber stamp.
Front Closure
Most gate fold cards have a bellyband to keep them closed. I struggle a bit with those so tend to leave them off. Since this card overlaps on the front, I didn’t feel it needed the bellyband…Yay!! And my friend did not utilize a bellyband either, she used scalloped dies for the sentiment layer. I went with the Tasteful Labels Dies. There are a variety of design shapes with different edgings in this set of dies. But they all work together. The two I chose both have the ticket corners to them. And you cannot see it in the photo but there is a thin embossed border around the larger shape. These are a bit different and a lot of Fun!!
Finishing Touches
With the business of the DSP, I did not want, and did not think much “bling” would work. So I went with a very simple bling. The green rhinestones with the flowers fulfill two things. They add bling, which is a must have, and they add some green to the little bunch of flowers. This mimics the DSP flowers a bit. The little rhinestones are from the Rhinestone Waves Jewels as part of the Waves of the Ocean Bundle. The colors in the pack range from a light blue, medium and dark blue, to this beautiful green.
