Playing In The Rain

My title means I am in Norway! The forecast was for rain every day.  Hopefully they were wrong and we are enjoying sunshine.

Stampin' Up!, playing in the rain, deckled rectangles, stargazing, happy labels, jackie beers

Stamps

After checking the forecast for the tenth time, I am prepared to enjoy the rain.  But again, I am hoping now when you see this on Tuesday that I will be not getting wet!  However, this stamp set is a favorite of mine as I am sure you can see by checking out the gallery!  I love the images and the expressions they have.

This little guy did not require a lot of coloring after stamping.  His shirt is colored to match the background paper using the Tahitian Tide Stampin’ Blends.

Dies and Layers

To give the card a nice border, I used the Deckled Rectangles Dies.  I love the design it leaves around the edge of the opening.  The die cut layer is Real Red with a piece of the Stargazing Designer Series Paper behind the bunny.  The card base is Night of Navy to match the darker part of the DSP.  And to break up the dark colors I added another layer of Basic White.  That ties the bunny layer in also.

Finishes

To complete this fun and celebratory card I had to add a fun sentiment.  This YAY is from the Happy Labels stamp set.  I really could not decide how to showcase it so it went through a bit of trimming.  It began with using the star shaped punch from Inked & Tiled Bundle.  But that was too large.  So I decided it would work to simple trim straight across above and below the letters.  It is an odd shape, but it screams happiness!  And since Norway has been on my bucket list for a bit that is fine by me!  The last touch is a scattering of the Classic Matte Dots in White.

Thank you for stopping by today!!

More Notecards

I have a couple of additional Notecards to share with you today.  These are made with Inked & Tiled Stamp set.

Stampin' Up!, kraft notecards and envelopes, Inked & Tiled, Pretty Peacock, blackberry bliss, cajun craze, jackie beers

Stamps

The Inked & Tiled stamp set is one of my favorites.  And here are two quick examples of the ease of using this set.  The first one is Ink to Rubber technique.  That simply means that I colored the stamp itself using Stampin’ Write Markers and then stamped the image.  However this image looks great no matter how it is stamped!

The extra leaves at the base of the first card and all of the leaves on the second card are from an additional stamp in the set.  This one is stamped using Pretty Peacock ink several times.  Since the trip is a cruise, I knew I would need some less feminine cards for male staff.  The surround of leaves works great for this quick card.  And the Thank You is from the set as well.

Paper

These cards are the same Kraft Notecards and Envelopes that I used in

Simple Note Cards

Y’all I have lost my mind!  I have been getting ready for a trip to one of my Bucket List locations, and have forgotten to do posts.  One of the things I have been working on are cards to share while I am away, but also ones to use during my trip.  Here are some simple and really quick notecards for Thank You to whomever.

Stampin' Up!, Kraft Notecards and envelopes, handmade hugs, just my type, fresh as a daisy, Jackie Beers

Cards

All of these cards begin with the Kraft Notecards & Envelopes.  And if you prefer White cards, you can get the notecards and envelopes in White.  I wanted to be different and use the Kraft ones this time.  These are found on page 135 of the Annual Catalog and you get 20 cards and 20 envelopes for 10.00.  That is an amazing deal!  And they are the perfect size to carry around or have in your room.

Paper

This card is made with the Fresh As A Daisy Designer Series paper.  The paper is really the star of the card.  And it is all you really need for a quick Thank You.  The sweet DSP with a circle sentiment and you are good to go.

Thank you for stopping in today!

I will monitor the comments as best I can while away.  The hubby and kitties will be home, but they might be more of a laugh than any assistance to you!  I will also try to add some photos to the my Facebook page during the trip.  It is also BluelineStamping!

Sweet Citrus

I wanted to share a refreshing card today.  Oranges from the Sweet Citrus Bundle are a refreshing summer drink or snack, and especially a card.   The Sweet Citrus Bundle is a great one that doesn’t get utilized enough.

Stampin' Up!, Sweet Citrus, Sweet Citrus Hybrid, Sweet Citrus Dies, Pumpkin Pie, Jackie Beers

Stamps and Dies Plus

As mentioned above, the Sweet Citrus Bundle is a really nice one that can be used for a few different fruits depending on your colors.  I went with an orange.   But there is more!  You may not be able to see the background very well, but there is an embossing folder which is a Hybrid Folder back there.  Not only can you emboss the fruit, but can emboss and cut them out.  I love this!! Stampin’ Up! has created a few of these and they work perfectly as intended.

The oranges and leaves are stamped and then die cut.  They are arranged to somewhat fit the same image that is embossed on the layer.  And the sentiment is from this stamp set as well.  That is always a winner for me to be able to do a one stamp set card.

Colors

To keep in mind the oranges, I went with Pumpkin Pie as a highlight layer to emphasize the center of the oranges.  The outside was stamped using Crushed Curry.  And the leaves are Granny Apple Green.  The card layers were kept simple to allow the Pumpkin Pie to really pop.  I used Thick Basic White for the base and then the layers are Basic White as well.  The sentiment is stamped with the Granny Apple Green to add more of that color.  And the finishing touch is a couple of the Iridescent Pastel Gems.  They tend to pick up the color they are around.

Layout

This layout is one that has a shorter front section.  Looking at the photo, you should be able to see that the sentiment is actually on the inside of the card and the front stops just above it.  This measurement is good for showing off a strip of DSP or ,as I did here, the sentiment in a different way.  And it works just as well in landscape as in portrait position.

The measurements are the card base is 4 1/4 X 9 3/4 scored at 5 1/2.  The Pumpkin Pie layers are 4 X 4 and 4 X 1.  For the embossed layer I used Basic White cut to 3 7/8 X 3 7/8.  And the sentiment is Basic White at 3 7/8 X 7/8.  There is also the same Pumpkin Pie and embossed layer (except not embossed) on the inside. I like to add a layer to write on even on White and the color layer helps make it pop.

Birthday Pinwheel Fold

I very much enjoyed the Tucked Pinwheel card I made a few weeks ago.  So I recreated it for a class.  These folds are addictive in case you have not tried it yet.  Today’s card stars a few different products but especially the Fresh As A Daisy DSP.

Stampin' Up!, Fresh As A Daisy, Beautiful Balloons, Jackie Beers

Here is the open view of the pinwheel.

Papers

The Fresh As A Daisy Designer Series Paper is really the star of this card in addition to the pinwheel.  Seeing the two sides of the paper is so pretty.  And I pulled the two main colors, Moody Mauve and Wild Wheat, to compliment the DSP.  Then softened the final layers with the Bubble Bath.  It is a great soft look with the Moody Mauve and one I would never have thought until I tried it.

Stamps

The sentiment and balloon are from the Beautiful Balloons stamp set.  Putting an extra sentiment in the center of the pinwheel is a nice surprise.  There is additionally a Happy Birthday are on the inside of the card.  I made the card a traditional card and then added the pinwheel to the front.  This way you see the surprise but still have plenty of room on the card inside for a personal message.

Fold

To create the pinwheel you need a 6X6 piece of DSP.  Next score at 1 1/2″ on all four sides.  Fold and burnish the score lines.  Then cut off each of the corner squares.  This leaves a square in the center with 4 flaps.  Place your paper in the orientation you want your pattern. (Take a minute to look at both sides with a flap pulled inside to decide which you prefer before you have a lot of fold lines!) Beginning with the flap at the top, fold it in so it is laying on the center square then take the bottom left corner and fold it flush along the score line.  Turn your paper and do all four sides.  To finish, have each flap standing up.  Lay the top one to the inside, then the right flap overlapping it, the bottom overlaps the right, and the left overlaps the bottom.   Now at the last flap just tuck the not folded edge under the top flap like you would on a cardboard box.

Here is a view of the previous pinwheel card I made.  Click HERE

Countryside Fold

I have a different Fun Fold to share with you today.  This one is more of a Die Set Fold and really simple to make.  The Countryside Corners Dies are the stars.

Stampin' Up!, Countryside Corners Dies, Hello Ladybug, Designer Tags Dies, Starry Sky Metallic Ribbon, Jackie Beers

Die Sets

There are actually two Die Sets used on this card.  The Countryside Corners Dies are the ovals and the Designer Tag Dies are the two containing the sentiment.  And here is an open view for you to see the “rest of the story”!  (I am dating myself there. LOL!!)

You can see from the inside view how there are two of both the largest and next largest of the Countryside Corners Dies.  This idea is a CASE from Susan Edwards a South Caroline Demonstrator.  I fell in love with this layout as soon as I saw it.

Papers and Colors

The colors for this card all came from the DSP piece.  This is from a piece of the Les Shoppes Designer Series Paper.  I have had difficulty using this paper until now.  But cutting it with the die and being a focal point makes it seem as if you are looking out a window.  And you should only see parts of the buildings.  At least that is what I am thinking!

The card base is the Misty Moonlight with the largest of the Countryside Corners Dies in Petal Pink.  And the two tags were to pull in the more color.  The Granny Apple Green was my first choice and I love how it pops!  But I felt like it needed more to the sentiment.  So it was joined by a second tag in Misty Moonlight.  I do like the double tags.  They are held with a bow using the Starry Sky Metallic Ribbon which adds some sparkle to the front.

Measurements

The card base of Misty Moonlight is 8 1/2 X 4 1/2 and scored at 4 1/2.  The Petal Pink layers are both cut using the largest of the Countryside Corners Dies.  And the DSP plus the inside White layers are cut using the next size down of the Dies.  Easy Peasy!!!  The one thing to keep in mind is when adding the front panel, which is what I added first.  Make sure your card does not exceed 5 1/2 in height so it fits in a regular envelope.
