August InKing Royalty Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s August Blog Hop! During this year’s blog hops, we are having fun with our stamping favorites – our favorite themes for seasonal cards and projects. This month’s projects feature leaves and trees, so you are likely to find lots of inspiration for Autumn. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

I love Fall / Autumn and always hope for the drop in temperature to be a good one.  LOL!!!  My card showcases a couple of different leaves, but is not the vibrant Fall leaves color you might expect.

Stampin' Up!, Forever Fern, Painted Labels, Time Worn Type, Stitched Leaves, Jackie Beers

Instead of vibrant colors I went with a more monochromatic palette with just a pop of color.  But it is all about the leaves.

Background Layer

I used the Forever Fern stamp set to create the background layer.  It is Soft Succulent that is stamped off once before going onto the Sahara Sand piece.  After stamping the leaves, I used the new Time Worn Type 3D Embossing Folder to give a rough texture to the layer.  To finish it off, I sponged Soft Succulent ink over the raised areas very lightly.  Just enough to show the texture.

Die Cut Pieces

The die cut leaves are from the Stitched Leaves Dies.  I used Soft Succulent, Sahara Sand and Bumblebee for the different leaves.  The detail on the leaves is one I never get tired of seeing.  As a grounding layer for the leaves, I went back to one of my favorite dies.  It is the Painted Labels Die swirly circle.  The shimmer you see is from the 2021-2023 Shimmer Vellum.  This one is the Evening Evergreen.  That shimmer is so pretty!

Finishing Touches

To finish off the theme, I used a sentiment from the Sale-A-Bration stamp set, Delicate Dahlias.  The full sentiment is Oh So Happy For You.  I wanted just the Oh So Happy, like I am Oh So Happy it is cooler weather for the Fall theme!!!  All it takes is a small post it note to cover the For You when inking up, and I had what I wanted.  The final touch to match the Bumblee leaf is a small Playing With Pattern Adhesive Dot.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you’ll hop along to the next stop on the blog hop, Sue Jackson at Just Peachy Stamping. There’s lots of inspiration to be found in this group – and you don’t want to miss it!

Gather Together

I am loving playing with all of the new products from the Mini Catalog.  The one I am showcasing today is the Pretty Pumpkin Bundle.  The matching Dies are fabulous!!!

Paper

The beginning of this fun card was this Soft Succulent piece of DSP from the Harvest Meadow Designer Series Paper.  I love the faded look to the background as well as the script writing.  Knowing that I was playing with pumpkins, I had to choose a color that worked with the Soft Succulent.  I actually found two other pieces of DSP from that same pack of paper.  Instead of a Pumpkin Pie pattern, they are Calypso Coral.  But they are gorgeous pumpkins!

To Die cut the larger and fancier pumpkin, I added the Adhesive Sheet to the piece of DSP.  I cut a piece a little larger than the die and added the Adhesive sheet, and then die cut the image.  This turns the pumpkin into basically a sticker.  No fighting trying to get that pumpkin glued down without a mess!  The smaller pumpkin is adhered with a couple of Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Stamps

There is very little stamping on this card.  The “vine” for the pumpkins got hidden a bit.  You can see it to the left of the smaller pumpkin.  It is stamped and colored with Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen Stampin’ Blends.  There is a matching die for it as well.

The sentiment is from the stamp set and I love everything about it.  It has such a beautiful font that makes it sort of fancy I believe.  To showcase the sentiment I stamped it and then die cut using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies.  The finishing touch is a Genial Gem that matches the Soft Succulent perfectly!

Feels Like Home

I am showcasing one of the Free Sale-A-Bration stamp sets today.  It is one that is Free with a $50.00 product order.  The Feels Like Home stamp set is a sweet set to have on hand.  And if you are like me and love to color, then it is a perfect one to get.

Stamps

I love this little scene with the bicycle, flowers, and what appears to be, an older building and door.  As soon as I saw this scene I thought of my trip to Amsterdam a few years ago.  There were flowers everywhere and more bicycles than I would have imagined.

This layout is a bit of a “clean” one from my normal cards.  I did not intend for it to be that way.  But the stamp and the sweet sentiment sort of decided for me.

Colors

To bring out all of the images in the stamp, it required quite a bit of color.  I thought a purple would go great with the Crumb Cake card base and the brown of the door.  It needed to pop a bit.   The 1/8″ border you see  of Highland Heather is enough to pull the flower pots and bicycle flowers out.  .  All of the Stampin’ Blends I used are listed in the supply list.  I will say that this is one of the shortest supplies lists I have ever done, with the exception of the Stampin’ Blends!!

You’re My Cup Of Tea

For those of you that ordered my Paper Shares, the paper has arrived.  I will get them completed over the weekend.  The Blackberry Beauty, that was not originally available, is on it’s way.  Hopefully the beginning of the week will see everything finished.  I will let you all know when they are ready to go.  Thank You again for ordering them.

Today’s card is a very clean and feminine card.  I mixed the Pansy Petals Designer Series Paper with the Brew Some Fun stamp set.

Stamp Set

The Brew Some Fun stamp set pairs with the Warm Wraps Dies that are a carryover from the last Holiday Mini Catalog coffee set.  This set has great little decorations and sentiments.  I think of this type set as a Friends stamp set.  One which I would make cards for specific friends and they would get the theme.  Here is a look at the inside.

The little party hats are so cute. I colored them with Stampin’ Write Markers in a variety of purple and pink colors.

Paper and Color

The gorgeous and soft plaid paper is from the Pansy Petals Designer Series paper.  I love a light purple or lavender color.  With the business of the plaid, the sentiment did not need anything to add on to it.  The tea cup is colored with the Fresh Freesia Stampin’ Blends.

The card base is Fresh Freesia with a layer of Basic White before the plaid DSP.  The fun Fold is Basic White. I hope you will give this sweet stamp set a second glance if you have passed over it previously.

Woven Pumpkin

I love card challenges as a way to begin creating a card.  Sometimes just one idea is enough to get things to fall into place.  Today I am playing along with a “Case The Designer” challenge.  I hope you like my case..

Stampin' Up!, Cutest Halloween, Cute Halloween, Detailed Pumpkin, Brights DSP, Jackie Beers

Challenge

The Challenge of Case The Designer is from the Global Design Project.  Here is the card I am casing.

This card is “cleaner” than mine, with it having a lot of White space.  I generally don’t do that, so went with my normal backgrounds.  However, I had to do the “woven” focal point.  This paper weaving has been around forever, and I haven’t used it in about that long!

My weaving was done using Gorgeous Grape and Mango Medley from the Brights 6X6 Designer Series Paper.  The pumpkin was then cut using the Detailed Pumpkin Dies.

Stamp Set

To continue on with the pumpkin, I decided on a Halloween card.  The Purple and Orange are my favorite Halloween colors.  The stamp set I used is the Cutest Halloween set.  I much prefer funny Halloween than scary.

The sentiment is one single stamp.  It is stamped and then cut apart and trimmed with my Paper Snips.  The ghost is a sweet ghost and is cut from the Cute Halloween Designer Series Paper.  Fussy Cutting the ghost was really simple.

Finishing

The background DSP is also from the Cute Halloween Designer Series Paper.  It is a little on the soft side so it does not overpower the woven pumpkin and ghost.  The sentiment and ghost are raised using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  A small bow made from the Black and White Gingham Ribbon is the final touch.  The Black and White seems to bring all of the colors together.

Diamond Pumpkin

My card today is another Fun Fold.  I found this with directions from a few different people and none referred to anyone else.  So I really do not know who to give credit to.  I shrunk it a tiny bit so that it fits in a regular envelope.

Stampin' Up!, Pretty Pumpkin Bundle, Harvest Meadow, Stitched Rectangles, Jackie Beers

The Fold

I am calling this a Diamond Fold.  It is actually very similar to the Kite Fold or the fold used for graduation hat cards.  The other fold names usually do not stand open.  I love that about this one.

To allow this to fit in a regular A2 envelope, 4 1/4 X 5 1/2, I used a piece of 4 1/4 X 8 1/2 piece of cardstock.  It is scored at 2 1/8 and 4 1/4.  You then mark the center of the 4 1/4 end of the paper that has the 2 1/8 score line.  Cut from the score line to that center mark from each side.  This makes the front point.  Fold the card in half and use the already cut edges to make the same cut on the bottom.  It is actually very easy and quick to get all of this done.

The Paper

I used the Harvest Meadow Designer Series Paper.  I love these patterns for Fall , or anytime, cards.  I have used three different patterns from the paper pack.  For a layer between the DSP and Calypso Coral, I added Soft Succulent.  The Bumblebee diamond shape pieces are cut 2 @ 2 3/4 X 2 3/4 with a Soft Succulent cut 2@ 2 7/8 X 2 7/8.  The wide strips, there is one on the inside as well as the one on the top, is cut 2 @ 4 X 1 7/8 with a Soft Succulent layer of 2 @ 4 1/8 X 2.  And finally the corners are a SS layer of 2 X 2, and the DSP 1 7/8 X 1 7/8.  Each of these squares is then cut in half to make two triangles.  (Simply place them on your cutter with a top and bottom point in the cutting track.

You can see all of the paper placements in the photo.   Only one is not shown and it is the inside wide strip.  It is just like the top one and I added a piece of White cardstock for a signature.  The top Diamond shape is only adhered on the front half to allow it to stand up.  Here is a view of the card folded flat for mailing.

It is not laying totally flat.  The picture is a bit deceiving in that the point in the back actually is flush with the back of the fold.

The Finishing Touches

I used the Pretty Pumpkin Bundle for this card.  Fall is probably my favorite season.  I LOVE Christmas, but Fall seems to get a bit overlooked.

The DSP pumpkin is another sheet from the Harvest Meadows DSP.  The stamped and Die cut pumpkin is from the stamp set.  I used a variety of the both the 2020-2022 and 2021-2023 In Color Markers to color the various leaves and berries.  Both of the pumpkins are raised with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment is from the stamp set also.  It is cut with the Stitched Rectangle Dies and only adhered in the center so that it hangs over the diamond shape.  The final touch was a single gem from the Elegant Faceted Gems.
