A Dahlia Smile

Since Sale-A-Bration is winding down I thought I would share two of my favorite picks in one card.  It is a little bit of an odd mix of colors.  But the different patterns seem to work.

Stampin' Up!, Delicate Dahlias, Forever Fern, Peaceful Prints, Jackie Beers

Stamps

The Stamp set I chose as a favorite from Sale-A-Bration is the Delicate Dahlias.  Yes, it is one of the $100.00 product purchase requirement, but it is really nice.  The flower is a two step flower.  I chose Bumblebee Ink as the outline and Pale Papaya as the inside.  The leaves are two step as well.  They are Garden Green for the outline and Soft Sea Foam for the inside.  Those colors came from the Green DSP piece.

Delicate Dahlias has a couple of great sentiments included in the set.  However, I chose to go with the Smile sentiment from Forever Fern.  It is stamped directly onto the DSP.  That is something that packs a bit of a punch, and I generally forget to do it.

Paper

I chose the two pieces of the Peaceful Prints Designer Series Paper before I decided on anything else.  Not normally how I begin a card!  I love the tan plaid and wanted to use it.  The base of the card is Bumblebee cardstock, which matches the dahlia.  The Garden Green piece has flecks of a lighter green that led to the Soft Sea Foam leaves color.

The Peaceful Prints Designer Series Paper is also from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog.  It is one of the $50.00 product purchase choices.  The paper matches the Peaceful Deer Bundle in the Mini Catalog.  The Deer Punch fits the pages of Deers on the paper.

Feels Like Home

I am showcasing one of the Free Sale-A-Bration stamp sets today.  It is one that is Free with a $50.00 product order.  The Feels Like Home stamp set is a sweet set to have on hand.  And if you are like me and love to color, then it is a perfect one to get.

Stamps

I love this little scene with the bicycle, flowers, and what appears to be, an older building and door.  As soon as I saw this scene I thought of my trip to Amsterdam a few years ago.  There were flowers everywhere and more bicycles than I would have imagined.

This layout is a bit of a “clean” one from my normal cards.  I did not intend for it to be that way.  But the stamp and the sweet sentiment sort of decided for me.

Colors

To bring out all of the images in the stamp, it required quite a bit of color.  I thought a purple would go great with the Crumb Cake card base and the brown of the door.  It needed to pop a bit.   The 1/8″ border you see  of Highland Heather is enough to pull the flower pots and bicycle flowers out.  .  All of the Stampin’ Blends I used are listed in the supply list.  I will say that this is one of the shortest supplies lists I have ever done, with the exception of the Stampin’ Blends!!

Tips for Pals June Blog Hop

Hello, welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month our Design Team’s theme is “Fun Ways to Use Your Stampin’ Up! Products” where we show our favorite product tips. We hope you enjoy and will be inspired by them! Don’t forget to leave comments! We love hearing from you. At the end of my post, you will find the full line-up to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

There are way too many products to choose from for this Tips blog hop.  I finally narrowed it down to Punches.  One of my favorite ways to use a punch is to make a “negative”.  I have two cards to share using this technique.  I hope you like it.

For this card I Punched three of the Medium Daisy Punch from a piece of Basic White cardstock.   I also stamped two sentiments from the Daisy Lane stamp set.  The layers are a Melon Mambo base and Basic White beneath a beautiful sheet of Melon Mambo from the Brights Collection 6X6 Designer Series Paper stack.  The punched layer is then added on top using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The finishing touches are to add a punched daisy from Melon Mambo cardstock onto the front layer with a Glue Dot only beneath the center of the flower.  I also added a Playing With Patterns Resin Dot to the center of the flower.

I love how the gorgeous DSP shows through the punched daisies!  Here is another card using the same products with the DSP as the punched out layer.

This is a 4 X 4 card using the same products.  It is a different sheet of the Melon Mambo Brights DSP though.  This time I layered the White and punched from the DSP.  I also added a two layer flower using the punched DSP flower and a White flower from the first card.  The petals are alternated and the two pieced together in the center with a Glue Dot.

To finish this one, I added the same Playing With Patterns Resin Dots to both the negative flower and the double layer flower.  The sentiment is from the Daisy Lane stamp set, as was the first card.  This time I used the Double Oval Punch, the larger oval, to punch the sentiment.  It is adhered using Stampin’ Dimensionals

I love the depth and dimension that using the “negative” gives to the cards.  If this is not a new idea for you, I hope it will inspire you to give this old trick and new look!  Both of these cards are quick and simple to do.  They would qualify as #simplestamping as it is simply Paper, Ink, Stamp, and a punch plus an embellishment.  And there is only one ink color to go with it.

More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Mark your calendars for our next blog hop on July 14th for “Wonderful Cards from the Garden” when our Design Team creates a project with flowers or scenes from the garden. Don’t miss the fun! Until then, have fun in your craft space.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you enjoyed today’s project and will come back.  I do read and reply to all of the comments individually.  They mean a lot to me.  Please reach out if you have a question.

Keep Calm and Keep On Stamping,

Jackie

Picture Friendship

Before I get to the project for today, I want to remind you that Today is the last chance to Join My Team with the Extra $30.00 of product in the Starter Kit.  I have all of the information at the bottom of the post.  And you can simply choose the Join button in the Menu bar.

The main product I am sharing today may be one that you  have overlooked in the Annual Catalog.  It is one of the Stand Alone Die sets.  This one has two main pieces that are like little windows.  The name is the Picture This Dies.

Dies

This die set has this die, all of the circles are attached as one die, and another with three attached rectangles.  This one makes me think of a Peek-A-Boo!  The example in the catalog shows different barn animals in each window.

The die cut circles also have stitching around them like the negative here does.  I have used those in a card that will be tomorrow’s post.

Designer Series paper

All of the Stampin’ Up! DSP is beautiful, but this Hand-Penned is one of my, actually one of many, favorites.  I love pairing the lovely paper with this Peek-a-boo look.  It is like looking through an old fashioned camera lense and seeing the garden on the other side.  Remember the old cameras with the tiny area you could see through the lense?

For the pairing on this card I cut the DSP sheet a bit smaller than the circle layer.  It is glued to the base card.  The circle layer is then added with dimensionals underneath to add to the window look.

Sentiment

The sentiment I used is from Free As A Bird.  It is punched using the Rectangle Postage Stamp Punch.  I hated to cover up the DSP, but wanted it to float on top as well.  Hopefully it looks appropriate.  And I love the sentiment.

The finishing touch is to add a few of the Metallic Pearls.  I chose the gold ones to match the Pale Papaya in the DSP.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you enjoyed today’s project and will come back.  I do read and reply to all of the comments individually.  They mean a lot to me.  Please reach out if you have a question.

Keep Calm and Keep On Stamping,

Jackie

Seashells

It is almost time for my beach trip and I cannot wait.  Sitting on the sand and doing NOTHING is my idea of a good time.  Thinking about my trip helped me to realize that I had not shared my Seashell card with you.  My upline, Brian King, shared it and others recently.  The card was made for a card swap among team members. If you did not see it on his page, then awesome!  You get to see it from me first.

I love this layout.  It came from an old sketch challenge I had seen and made note of.  This really allows a pretty piece of designer paper to shine.

The Sand & Sea Suite of products is Amazing!!!  I love every piece in the suite.  And I managed to use quite a few products in the suite.

The base of my card is a piece of Thick White cardstock.  The gorgeous blue is Seaside Spray, one of the retiring colors 🙁 .  Both pieces of DSP used are from the Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper.  The seashell piece is layered onto a piece of White cardstock and raised with dimensionals.  The gorgeous blue water piece of DSP is cut 2 X 4 , and then 3/4 is cut from each end.  Those pieces are adhered onto the Seaside Spray on each side of the raised piece.  The larger section is then lined up across the top.

The seashell images are from the Friends Are Like Seashells stamp set.  They are stamped using Sahara Sand Ink and then filled in with the appropriate pieces from the stamp set using Blushing Bride Ink.  The dies are part of the Suite of products and are amazing!  I finished each of the shells with a touch of Wink of Stella for some glimmer.  The sentiment piece is also from the set and is stamped with Seaside Spray Ink, with an overlay of the small starfish.  It is then cut using the 2 1/4″ Circle Punch.  The final touch is a couple of the Opal Rounds.  They do not show very well in the photo but do shine and fit in perfectly in person.

Thank you so much for stopping in on this Monday.  I hope you were safe from the storms of Saturday that seemed to be everywhere!

Amazing

I am really happy to share today’s card with you.  It is a quick, but really cute card.  It is also one that you could easily make multiples of and have on hand to add whatever sentiment is needed for the occasion.  My sentiment is a sweet one that I love.

Stampin' Up!, Stitched So Sweetly, Friends Are Like Seashells, In Good Taste, Jackie Beers

I love every layer of this card.  I paired the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper with the Greenery Embossing Folder, and Stitched So Sweetly Dies.  The sentiment is from the Friends Are Like Seashells stamp set.  I think this is such a sweet sentiment.  And I love the font!

The base card is Crumb Cake with a wider than normal border before the Seaside Spray layer.  I am SO going to miss the Seaside Spray!  It is a perfect blue.  The DSP piece has just a touch of the Crumb Cake in it, and that is all it needed.  (There is a similar pieces that has a touch of Misty Moonlight in place of the Crumb Cake!!)

The banner is first cut using the Banner Triple Punch and then embossed with one of the two Greenery Embossing Folders.  These folders are designed for the Mini Cut & Emboss Machine.  But they work perfectly in the regular size as well.  Tip:  I recommend to punch before embossing.  The embossing softens the paper, and that could cause issues getting your perfect banner.

The top layer is the sentiment.  It is stamped onto the Crumb Cake piece and then die cut.  The Stitched So Sweetly Dies are probably my most used ones. I love the rectangles as well as the fun shapes, like this one.  The finishing touch is a simple bow made with the Blue & White twine from the Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you like this sweet card and will maybe try this layout.  I got the idea from the Annual Catalog.  There is a card on page 69 in the upper right corner.  You never know where your inspiration will come from.

Here are the measurements for today’s card.

  • Card base is 5 1/2 X 8 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4
  • Seaside Spray layer is 5 X 3 3/4
  • DSP layer is 4 7/8 X 3 5/8
  • Banner is 2 X 3 1/4
