Simple Things

Happy New Year’s Eve!!!

I have a new card to share with you.  But I wanted to remind you first of the Curvy Celebrations products.  The Curvy Christmas stamp set and the Classic Christmas DSP will be going away next week.  The Quite Curvy Bundle will be available in the upcoming Mini Catalog.

My favorite of this bundle is the Designer Series Paper.  It has Winter and Anytime patterns on the paper.  The card I am sharing with you today is using some of that paper.

The Designer Series Paper in the background is from the Classic Christmas DSP!  The pattern is in all of the colors of the paper.  I think it is a perfect background.

I paired this paper with the upcoming stamp set, Enjoy The Moment.  This is not a set I would normally purchase.  The images are all seed pods from around the world.  They are all a sketch like the one I used today.  They are all lovely, just not my normal choice.  What sold me on the set was the sentiments!  Now I love the entire set of course.

The sentiments are all just “perfect” ones.  They are like the one I used today.  “Friendship is found in simple things”.  I just love that!  In our crazy year, it is the simple things that have been the stars, at least for me.

Did you notice the bright green of the sentiment?  I stamped it in Mossy Meadow Ink to match the card base.  I then decided to give parts of the card some sparkle.  I went over the top of the seed pod and the sentiment with Wink Of Stella.  Oh My!!!  It just gave some shine to the seed pod.  But it made the sentiment really stand out.  I was thrilled with an unexpected find.  I would never have thought it would change the shade of the color and give it such brightness.  Woohoo!!  Now I want to try all of the colors to see which other ones change like this.

To finish the card, I added the Light Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blend as shading around the stamping.  I also added the Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Trim.  This trim is a dream to work with.  It is the same as the Real Red Braided Trim in the current Mini, but much softer.  The Red one is pretty stiff.  The final touch was a few of the Elegant Faceted Gems.

As has been the case most of this week, some of the images of upcoming products are not available to me yet.  So if my supply list is missing pieces, that is why.

I do have the measurements for you today.

  • Mossy Meadow card base is 5 1/2 X 8 1/2
  • Whisper White is 5 1/4 X 4
  • Classic Christmas DSP is 5 X 3 3/4
  • Mossy Meadow is 2 3/8 X 3
  • Whisper White is 2 1/8 X 2 3/4

Thank you for stopping by today.  I really appreciate you following my cards.  Be safe during this New Year debut!

Hey Friend

Today I am taking a short break from Christmas cards and projects.  I have received a couple of orders of upcoming products, including Sale-A-Bration items.  So I am sharing some of that with you today.

I love this little donkey!!  He is sitting there looking like I feel.  I have been busy for the last couple of weeks, and us old retired people are not supposed to be that busy!

The little guy is from the Darling Donkeys Sale-A-Bration stamp set.  That means he and his friends can be yours FREE with a $50.00 purchase once the new catalog and SAB go live on January 5th.

I am also showcasing some of the new Designer Series Paper that will be available for anyone who joins during Sale-A-Bration!  It is a real Sneak Peek of the next Annual Catalog in May.  So a long way off sneak peek.

For this layout, I cut my layers with the Pretty Peacock at 5 1/4 X 4, and then both sheets of DSP to 5 X 3 3/4.  I then placed the opposite corners of the DSP on the paper trimmer cutting line and sliced it in half.  Now I have two extra pieces to make another card like this.

Thank you for stopping by today.  Please come back tomorrow for another new project.

Fall Forever Fern

My card today is a version of a card that we did at the Stampin’ Up! OnStage at Home last weekend.  Normally we would have had OnStage in Salt Lake City, but since this is not a normal year by any stretch, it was done virtually.  I have to give huge credit to Stampin’ Up! for a great event.  They went above and beyond with the content.

One of the stamping spots was a stamp along.  We were given the measurements to cut our DSP and other card layers for a surprise layout.  I loved the layout and decided to do it again with a different stamp set.  I think of the Forever Fern stamp set as the colors of the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper.  So it took a reboot of my brain to totally change the colors.  I am happy with the changes.

I used Cinnamon Cider, Mango Melody and Bumblee as my inks and DSP.  The pattern in the Designer Series Paper seems to be the rough look I was going for with the colors of the leaves.  I got the Cinnamon Cider and the Bumblee from the In Color 6X6 DSP.  The Mango Melody comes from the Brights 6X6 DSP.  I love having the same pattern in all of the colors.  Although it would have looked just as good had I chosen different patterns.

I stamped directly onto the base card.  It is the Thick Very Vanilla card stock.  I alternated the different stamps and ink to create the pattern going up the left side of the card.  For the sentiment layer, I used the same stamps and colors, but I stamped off to give it a softer look.  The sentiment is from the Forever Fern stamp set and is stamped in Cinnamon Cider.  Before adhering it to the top and bottom DSP layers, I wrapped the Linen Thread around a few times and added a multi-loop bow.

The measurements for the DSP are: 1 1/4 X 3 1/4 for the top and bottom pieces (Cinnamon Cider and Bumblee).  The middle layer is Mango Melody and is 1 X 4.  The sentiment layer is 2 1/4 X 3.

Thank you very much for stopping in today.  Please come back on Monday for some new projects I will have ready to share.

Hello Fabulous

I have been focusing on holiday cards lately and now find I need quite a few birthday cards.  So I have a really cute one for you today.  It contains a fun stamp set and gorgeous DSP!

I really like all of the Green in the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper.  (And YES, it is one of the papers that are included in the 15% OFF Sale.  I have all of them listed below!)  The different greens were the basis of the card.  I paired Pretty Peacock with Just Jade for the main colors.

All of the stamps I used are from the Dressed To Impress stamp set.  For the perfume bottle, I stamped it using Just Jade Ink.  I then added the squiggly to the bottle in Pretty Peacock Ink.  To finish it off, I colored the remaining parts of the bottle with the Dark Pool Party Stampin’ Blend.  As I said, I LOVE how all of the greens work together!   I also stamped it again on some scrap paper and fussy cut the perfume label.  It is raised with a dimensional for a bit of definition.   I added a few Rhinestones for some Bling!  A girl definitely needs bling!

Today’s Measurements are:

  • 4 1/4 X 11 card base
  • 4 X 5 1/4 for white layer
  • Jade is 3 1/4 X 4 3/4
  • DSP is 3 X 4 1/2
  • Perfume base layer is 2 1/8 X 2 5/8
  • Perfume white layer is 1 7/8 X 1 3/8
  • sentiment base layer is 1 1/4 X 3 1/4
  • sentiment white layer is 1 X 3

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I hope you like today’s project and will return tomorrow for another new card idea.

Hey Friend

I have mixed two of the stamps that carried over to the new Annual Catalog.  Since these tend to get left out when new stamps arrive on the scene, I decided to show them some love.

Stampin' Up!, Jackie Beers, Wildly Happy, Rooted in Nature, Tasteful Textile

Do you recognize these two stamp sets?  The tree is from Rooted In Nature, and the bunnies are from Wildly Happy.  I think they work very well together.

I stamped the bunnies first with Gray Granite Ink and over to the left of my Whisper White layer.  I stamped again on some scrap white and cut right on the lines to give me a mask.  As it turned out, I didn’t really need the mask because the tree fit perfectly in the open space.  Oh well, I have a mask for next time!  The bunnies are colored using Stampin’ Blends.  I used both Smoky Slate Blends on the body and Petal Pink for the nose and ear.

I stamped the tree using Stampin’ Write Markers to give the tree it’s two colors.  I love markers for coloring on the red rubber and being able to have multiple colors.  I always comment that I wish they were available individually, but sadly they are not.  They are available as a color family though.  I colored the canopy all over with Just Jade and then the trunk with Soft Suede.  I then went back to the canopy and very lightly went over some of the branches with the softest of touch using the tip of the Soft Suede brush.  It is actually very easy, as the ink from the Just Jade highlighted all of the definition of the stamp.  The finished look of the tree makes that last step very worthwhile.

The gorgeous background of Just Jade card stock is embossed using the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.  I really like the texture it gives.  It is a great masculine touch and looks just like the weave on heavy fabric.

Thank you for stopping in today.  I will have another project to share with you tomorrow.

You Make Me Smile

I want to share some sunshine here and make you all relax and hopefully Smile!  So the next couple of posts are going to be along those lines.  Today I have a daisy, which is simple flower that always makes me smile.

I have a mix of bundles for this card.  The Daisy Lane stamp set debuted in a previous catalog as a bundle with the Medium Daisy Punch.  Although they are no longer a bundle, they are both in the current catalog.  The other is the Many Mates Bundle.  It is the sentiment and the background for the daisies.  The sentiments for this set are varied and a mix of fonts.  The mixed fonts are always a favorite of mine.

I also used the Lovely Label Punch for the sentiment.  I adore the two different shapes for the ends of the punch.  In case you missed it.  I did a tip in one of last weeks posts that shares how to get the equal distance on each end of your sentiment.  Click HERE to go to that post.  The tip is in the middle of the post.

For the daisies, I punched four daisies to make the two flowers.  I fussy cut the small daisy and the fern.  The fern was an experiment.  I stamped it on Whisper White card stock, and to say it didn’t look good was mild.  The white actually shined, in a bad way!!  So I used my Light Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Blend and went over the entire leaf.  I was happy with that.  I was trying not to use another set of dies to get some greenery.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  I hope you will return tomorrow for another Smile project.
