Young and Cool

As awesome as the New Annual Catalog is, there are still great products available in the current Mini Catalog.  I have combined the sets Catch You Later, Bragworthy, and Artfully Layered together for a fun card.

Stampin' Up!, Catch You Later, Bragworthy, Artfully Layered, Jackie Beers

Stamps

These monkeys are so fun!  I immediately think of hanging out with friends.  So that is the direction I went.  And of course the sentiment takes it the same direction.  Yes, I did use three different stamp sets to create this fun card.  The monkeys and sentiment are from the Catch You Later stamp set.  It is full of similar fun images and sentiments.  And the background I created was using the Artfully Layered set with the large leaf and smaller heart leaves.

And to share the third stamp set, the Bragworthy set, here is a view of the inside.  It screams “Old Friends” to me!

I realize that this sentiment does not fit everyone.  But it definitely works with me and my friends!  This stamp set includes six unique and fun sentiments for different occasions.

Colors

To carry the outdoors theme I wanted a green color.  But instead ended up with a blue / green by using Bermuda Bay.  This is an awesome color that I use often.  And to pair with the monkeys’ colors, I added the layer of Crumb Cake.  For the stamped backgrounds I did tone on tone for both Bermuda Bay and Crumb Cake.  The Crumb Cake images are stamped repeatedly before re-inking.

Embellishments

To give some added emphasis for the sentiment, I used the Double Oval Punch for a bit of an extra layer.  And as a more masculine “bling”, I used the New Brushed Metallic Adhesive Dots.  By adding one to each of the focal layers it brings them together.  And I know I generally do at least three of my blings.  This card just did not like adding a third one.

Artfull Layers

My card for today mixes Artfully Layered products with the Hive 3D Embossing Folder.  This folder is a hidden gem in the catalog!

Stampin' Up!, Artfully Layered, Artfully Composed, Hive 3D Embossing Folder, Layering Circles, Jackie Beers

Bundle

Even though there is not a lot of stamping on this card, I did use the Artfully Layered Bundle.  I stamped the circle area using two of the stamps.  But the saw tooth edge is from the matching dies.  I love the little bit of special an edge die gives to a card.  This layout would be okay with a straight edge, but the bit of definition really pops.  And the sentiment is a favorite!  I love the mix of fonts and that this is an “anytime” sentiment!

Embossing

The Hive 3D Embossing Folder is a very special one.  It can be used with either side showing.  I chose the indentions.  The opposite side reminds me of a layer of pebbles.  You can find this folder on page 59 of the Mini Catalog with the Heart & Home Suite of products.  Embossing folders are a great value for the price and add so much detail to a card.

Paper

Probably the star of the card is the little strip of DSP.  This is from the Artfully Composed Designer Series Paper.  The paper is hand painted and then photographed.  You can see the shadows on this piece.  Sara did a Facebook Live with the artist who created it last week.  If you get a chance it is worth a few minutes to watch and see the creative process.  For me, this is simply beautiful paper with wonderful colors!

An Easter Friend

Today’s card is a “Z Fold, Friend “card, using the Easter Friends stamp set.  This set is more versatile than you would think with some anytime sentiments.

Stampin' Up!, Easter Friends, Daffodil Afternoon, Stitched So Sweetly, Jackie Beers

Stamps

The Easter Friends stamp set is in the Mini Catalog.  At first glance you will think of only Easter cards.  I know that was my first thought.  But on closer look at the adorable little chicks, I also noticed the sentiments.  There is a Happy Easter stamp, and one for Spring, My Friend, as well as wishing happiness.  And those little chicks are so cute and fluffy!

Paper and Dies

This beautiful Spring looking DSP is from the Daffodil Afternoon Designer Series Paper.  It is one of the Sale-A-Bration options.  I chose the pretty Spring flowers to pair with the cute little green hearts.  The green hearts goes well with the grass and leaves.  However, I did not follow the colors in the DSP totally with all of my greens.  There is a mix of Granny Apple Green for the grass and Mint Macaron for the heart layer.

To give the cute chick a special layer, I used the Stitched So Sweetly Dies.  The two largest of the rectangles were the ones I used.  The soft scallops are a perfect fit to the happy little girl.  There is also one special / different addition.  On the inside of the card I added a flower from the DSP.  It was on the edge of the scrap when I cut the front layer.  After fussy cutting, It fit perfectly on the edge of the inside layer.  And it is matches the sentiment as well!  I love it.

Directions:

I mentioned this is a Z Fold card.  It is just a bit different of a Z, but I love how it still stands perfectly.

  • The card base of Pale Papaya is 5 1/2 X 8 1/2 and scored on the long side at 2 1/8 and 4 1/4
  • The front layer of Mint Macaron is 2 7/8 X 5 3/8
  • The floral DSP strip is 2 X 5 3/8
  • The heart DSP is 2 3/4 X 5 1/4
  • The inside Vanilla is 4 X 5 1/4

The Mint layer is adhered after the floral DSP and is adhered with the card closed.  I lined up the Mint Macaroon with the floral DSP and the inside card base.  The edge is the same all around, like the Mint is another layer when closed.

A Friend

I love the adorable animals the Stampin’ Up! Artists create.  The new Mini Catalog and Sale-A-Bration Catalogs both have some cute ones.  I am focusing on the Happy Hedgehog Bundle with today’s card.

Stampin' Up!, Happy Hedgehog, Double Oval Punch, Brushed Brass Butterflies, Jackie Beers

Happy Hedgehog Bundle

I really love it when I can make a card using a single stamp set.  To me it means that you can purchase the set, or in this case the bundle, and be ready to go.  And for the set to include adorable little critters is just a bonus!  Did you notice the sentiment?  That is going to be an often used one for me!

The hedgehog is punched using the matching Hedgehog Punch.  The cutie can be stamped and punched as one piece like I did.  Or it can be layered with the top different to give added depth.  More versatility is always a good thing.

Colors

My goal for this card was to be bright and happy to match the new Friends.  So I used Just Jade and Pale Papaya.  I stamped everything with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then used Stampin’ Blends to color.  The adorable bird is one that I actually researched.  I needed a bird that was not brown, since most of the other elements had quite a lot of tan / brown.  This adorable little girl is an Eastern Bluebird, if you want to be exact.

After layering the hedgehog for a bit of depth, I did the same for the sentiment.  It is layered over a strip of Pale Papaya.  The perfect fit for the sentiment was the Double Oval Punch.  And for a finishing touch, to go along with the other critters, I added a Brushed Brass Butterfly.  These little butterflies are so adorable!!

Friend

I am back from an awesome stamping weekend with some fellow demonstrators, who are also fabulous friends.  There was much laughing with some stamping thrown in.  I will have some cards to share as the week goes on.

Today’s card is a quick and fun card made with the In Symmetry stamp set.  For a set that I didn’t really care for initially, it has become a go to for a quick and easy card.

Stamp set

As I said, the stamp set is the In Symmetry set.  This bold flower is my favorite from the set.  It and the leaves make a great focal point that stamp so well and all you need are the two colors.  Being such a solid stamp, both stamps ink up and stamp perfectly.

This sentiment is great for pretty much any occasions.  It is just a clean and simple greeting.  And who doesn’t love a pretty font?  I like that it is not too large or too small.  Stampin’ Up! is great for having a variety of sentiment sizes.  I have used this one in places similar to this layout, but also on full front stamping and the sentiment at the bottom stamped over the image or in a blank space.  The size and bit of boldness allows it to stand out anywhere.

I added the Basic Rhinestone Jewels for some bling to the flower and sentiment.

Paper and Colors

This pretty striped paper is from the Pansy Patch Designer Series Paper.  I love the shades of green.  And it pairs perfectly with a bold flower. The paper was picked first in terms of color.  That led me to the Shaded Spruce for the leaves.

With the leaves being a darker shade I needed a bold color for the flower itself.  I have my paper in the Stamp “N Storage shelves behind me.  So I took the Shaded Spruce cardstock and actually placed it next to all of the different possible flower colors to determine a match.  (A swatch book would work the same way)  My little experiment ended up at Blackberry Bliss.   It is a color that I haven’t used in a while until the Blackberry Beauty DSP came out in the Mini Catalog.  Now I seem to be drawn to it!

Measurements

  • The card base Blackberry Bliss cut to  4 1/4 X 11, scored at 5 1/2 and folded.
  • The layer is Basic White cut to 5 1/4 X 4
  • The DSP from Pansy Patch is cut to 5 1/8 X 3 7/8
  • The focal layer is Basic White cut to 2 3/4 X 3
  • The sentiment layer is Basic White cut to 2 1/4 X 3/4

By having the Basic White layer between the card base and the DSP, I did not need a layer under the focal or the sentiment layers.  It made for a much thinner card!

Joyful LIfe

I made today’s card for a friend’s birthday card.  The whimsical nature of the animals are just so darn cute!  All of the animals in this Joyful LIfe stamp set are adorable.  And there are great sentiments as well.

Stampin' Up!, Joyful Life, Penguin Playmates, Highland Grosgrain Ribbon, Double Oval Punch, Jackie Beers

Stamps

I mentioned at the top of the page that this image is from the Joyful Life stamp set.   This set is so much fun!  Where else would you find a bear riding a bicycle with a bunny in the basket?  The look of the blowing leaves is just an added bonus.

And the sentiments in this set fit each image as well.  If this sentiment looks familiar to you, I used it on the card I shared with you Monday.  You can see that card HERE.  The sentiment almost has a more holiday feel to it on Monday’s card.  An excellent sentiment and so wonderful that it can be used for a variety of reasons!

Paper and Color

The DSP used here is from Sale-A-Bration and from the Penguin Playmates Designer Series Paper.  This is my favorite sheet from that pack.  I love all of the colors. My friend’s favorite color is purple.  So this paper fit perfectly and allowed me to add it again in the bear’s sweater.

The finishing touch is more of the purple.  I used the Highland Heather Grosgrain Ribbon.  This ribbon is so pretty.  There is a bit of a silver like sparkle to it.  For the finishing touch, I punched the sentiment using the Double Oval Punch.  This is the larger of the two ovals on the one punch.  Of course it had to have a tiny bit of bling.  The rhinestone is a 2021-2023 In Color Jewel.  So it is the Freesia Rhinestone!

The 2nd Sale-A-Bration Is Almost Over……
