Sunshine & Happiness for May Pals Blog Hop

Hello, welcome to the Pals Blog Hop! This month our theme is “Goodbye to January-June Mini and 2019-2020 Annual Catalogs and Hello to 2020-2021 Annual Catalog” where the Design Team is showcasing their favorites from the retiring catalogs or products in the new catalog! You’ll find the full line-up below to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

I opted to use Retiring products for my card today.  I have one item that is carrying over besides the card stock.  I have to say, I chose the Honeybee Bundle.  I am very surprised and a little sad that it did not carry over to the next catalog.

I used the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper, which is also retiring, as the backdrop for my beehive.  I love the colors and everyone knows that flowers and bees are a perfect pairing.

I stamped the beehive and sentiment as the main focal point of the card.  But even with the addition of the little bee, I felt it needed something.  So I added the Detailed Trio Punch to both of the upper corners of that layer.  I love how the Mossy Meadow layer shows through.

When I added the two pieces of honeycomb, I decided to leave some of the hexagonal pieces in tact.  I also felt that it needed “something” besides laying directly on the DSP.  I came up with a plain piece of vellum card stock as the backdrop for the entire center layer.  I like that.

My bow is a retiring product also.  It is the Ruched Ribbon in Daffodil Delight.  I intended originally for the bow to be just on the side of the card but in the normal direction.  When I placed it there, it just did not work.  I went to push it off and it turned slightly.  It was an Ah Hah moment.  I straightened it up and decided that the bow being sideways was just the right thing.  I love when that happens.

More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Mark your calendars for June 10th, with our theme “New 2020-2022 In Colors.” We can’t wait to show you the newest In Colors in the Stampin’ Up! color family. Don’t miss the fun! Until then, please stay safe and have fun in your craft room.

This Little Piggy

I am a little sad regarding today’s card.   I love these adorable little guys in the This Little Piggy stamp set and am sad that this will be my last card with them.  I made a quick 4 X 4 card to share the love.

I used shades of blue for the piggy card.  That is an appropriate color for my friendly pigs!  The base card is Blueberry Bushel, followed by Pacific Point, and then Balmy Blue.  I inserted some Whisper White to even out the white of the piggy layer.

The piggy is stamped in Calypso Coral Ink and colored using both of the Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends.  I used the Blueberry Bushel Stampin’ Write Marker to color just the sentiment of the pig.  I then stamped the Love in Blueberry Bushel Ink.  The heart is cut using the Stitched Be Mine Hearts.  It is the smallest of the stitched / scalloped hearts.  I added the ribbon and bow to hold the heart.

These are really quick and simple cards to make.  I love the 4 X 4 and 3 X 3 versions.  They are great for gift inserts, and as a Thinking of You little card.

Thank you for stopping by today.  Please join me tomorrow on the Monthly Pals Blog Hop.  There are quite a few participants with some great projects for you to see.

Parisian Blooms

I know I remark quite often about the beauty of Stampin’ Up!s Designer Series Paper.  I have a card today that really showcases some of that gorgeous paper.  Sadly it is on the Retiring List, as is all of the current DSP.

I paired the Forever Blossoms stamp set with the Parisian Blossoms Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I used two sheets of the beautiful paper.  They are each 2 X 5 1/8, and overlap just a tiny bit.  That is easier than trying to cut exactly.  The panels are layered on Smoky Slate Card Stock cut to 4 X 5 1/4.  The base card is Petal Pink and has seriously grown on me as a favorite color.

The flowers are from the Forever Blossoms stamp set.  I stamped them in Smoky Slate Ink and colored the dark part of the petals with Dark Petal Pink Stampin’ Blend.  I left the rest of the petal white.  The leaves are a mix of Both of the Old Olive Stampin’ Blend Markers.  The Smoky Slate layer is 2 5/8 X 4 5/8 and the Whisper White layer is 2 1/2 X 4 1/2.

For the shimmery ribbon, I ended up with just zig zagging it behind the layer.  I tried other ways of adding it and didn’t really care for any of them.  To add the ribbon, I took a piece aproximately 15″ long.  I ran a strip of adhesive down the center of the card stopping below where the flower layer would be.  Then I just layed the ribbon back and forth and made sure it adhered to that adhesive down the middle.  That was easy and fun to do.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you enjoy this card and love this paper as much as I do!!  All of the supplies I used are at the bottom of the post.

I still have the retiring list up just below the Share Sunshine Download.  However, if you click on the Shop button on the menu, you will be taken to my online store and be able to see what is still available.  By this time probably quite a lot of the products are already sold out.

Spring Bouquet

I have a little Spring Bouquet to share today.  I used the Ornate Style stamp set.  It is a new set to the next Annual Catalog, but it has been available for about a month now as a sneak peek.  I shared one card earlier in the week with a single daisy from the set.  Today I have the full bouquet for you.

I went a little on the wacky side with my layers for this card.  I couldn’t decide on the colors of my normal layers and had all three of these colors on my desk playing with them.  I layered all three to see which two I preferred and decided I liked them all.  So to keep the bouquet the size it is, I had to go with a wacky layer look.  And I am okay with that.  This is not the first time that I have used this angled look.

For the definition on the layers, I used the leaf from Parcels & Petals stamp set.  I stamped the leaf on all of the layers using Versamark Ink so that it is a lighter shade of the colors. The ribbon is the Daffodil Delight Ruched Ribbon from the Mini Catalog.

The sentiments is from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set.  It is stamped in Granny Apple Green ink to match the card base and it is die cut using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies.  I love the different sizes and shapes of these dies.  And I am thrilled that they carried over!!

Now for the bouquet!!  I love this mix of flowers.  I stamped the image using Gray Granite Ink.  I like the light gray because it doesn’t show as much of an outline.  I colored everything using a variety of Stampin’ Blends.  All of the colors are listed in the supply list at the bottom of the post.

Thank you for stopping in today.  I hope you have a nice weekend and check back in next week.  I appreciate you visiting my projects.

Beautiful Day

I am sharing a bit of an old school technique today.  And I am using a stamp set that is a favorite for background or collage type stamping.  It is the Very Versailles stamp set and it is carrying over to the new catalog.

The technique I mentioned is the tearing of the paper and sponging the edges.  I did not add too much color to the edges.  I just wanted a touch of the “old” look to it.  I felt this card was a perfect card for the torn edges with the colors I had chosen.  It feels sort of the shabby chic look.

I stamped the Very Versailles stamps a couple of times on the background.  And then one of the leaves on the top layer.  I colored the butterfly with Stampin’ Blends and punched it using the Butterfly punch.

The ribbon is the Copper Trim, which is a dream to work with.  Sadly it is on the Going Away list.  I would grab it if you like this shining ribbon.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope to have some new products to show you tomorrow or Friday!!  If you did not see my second post from yesterday, I shared the new 2020-2022 In Colors, you can click HERE to see those.

We Rise Up

I have found that while pulling the retiring products, I have found many that I just did not use often enough.  Now that they are retiring, I am trying to get one more project from them.

I have used the Above The Clouds Bundle.  Punches are my favorite and I hate to see another one going away.  But, I was thrilled that the sentiment fit perfectly inside the hot air balloon!  That was a Woohoo moment!  I did not even remember this sentiment and found it to be a perfect one to share during this unusual time we find ourselves in.  So a Win / Win today.

The background DSP is the Follow Your Art Designer Series Paper.  When I pulled out the folder with this paper, this side was showing through the front.  I immediately thought of it as the clouds.  Hopefully you see that as well.  I paired it with Coastal Cabana, the color in the sheet of DSP , and Pacific Point.

The hot air balloon is stamped with Terracotta Tile Ink.  I highlighted the decorations with Dark Daffodil Delight and Dark Seaside Spray Stampin’ Blends.  The sentiment itself is stamped with Pacific Point ink.  I added a couple of the Holiday Rhinestones for a touch of decoration.
