Eat Cake

The Annual Catalog is coming to an end. So I am going through stamp sets that I have not shown enough love. Not necessarily ones that are staying or retiring, just ones that needed love. And I now have a fancy cake birthday card. This cake is almost too pretty to cut into!

Stampin' Up!, cake fancy, distressed tile, spring corners, purple shimmer gems, gold open weave trim, lemon lolly, pretty peacock, jackie beers

STAMPS

This gorgeous cake is for a dear friend who loves lemon and loves berries. In looking through stamp sets I saw the Cake Fancy set. All of the stamped images are included in that set, along with quite a few more of the small detail stamps. This was a build and think about it type cake project! At the end I needed a simple sentiment. I found this small one in the Spring Corners stamp set.

These stamps are the distinctive type. They show shadows, etc. For the cake plate I began with Pretty Peacock Ink. Next came the lemon cake made with Daffodil Delight Ink. I stamped two layers for a special cake. Next came the berries. These are stamped three times using Blackberry Bushel Ink. The berries are what led to fussy cutting the cake out as they hung over the edges too far. And the daisies with their leaves were also fussy cut.

PAPERS

Once again there is no DSP used on a card. It is shocking!! Since I wanted a lemon cake, I used Lemon Lolly cardstock as the card base. Even though I used Daffodil Delight Ink for the cake. The lemon lolly ink is really light. Next comes Pretty Peacock as the layer. It began as a thin layer. Then when the cake got fussy cut, it needed more. So it was embossed to help everything stand out more.

EXTRAS

There are three Extras today! First is the embossed Pretty Peacock layer. I used the Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder. This folder is a favorite as it goes with almost any design and has great detail. Next is the Gold Open Weave Trim. We have previously had a silver version of this. I was amazed at how well this gold stood out against the Pretty Peacock. The cake needed a grounding spot and the trim makes a great one!

Finally the bling. I was undecided on what to use with the various textures and darker colors. Then I realized the flowers needed centers. And that led me to a color similar to the berries. These are the darker of the Purple Shimmer Gems. There are three shades and two different sizes of each. So I added large for the centers and then added a couple of the smaller ones like a berry fell off.

Birthday Hug

My card to share today took a few different turns in it’s creation. I cased it from the little pamphlet we were given at OnStage for the After Hours stamping event. Ideas from templates and simple layouts inspire me. This one began as a male birthday, then brightened up to where it could be anyone’s birthday hug.

Stampin' Up!, hearts and hugs, spring corners, forever plaid, regal foiled dots, night of navy, misty moonlight, real red, jackie beers

STAMP BUNDLES

There are two very different Stamp Bundles used to create this card front. The Hug comes from the Hearts & Hugs Bundle. I have to say that I am Not a fan of mice, gerbils, hamsters, etc! But this guy is cute on my card. LOL!! He is stamped using Pecan Pie Ink and then colored with Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends. The sweet, and matching, sentiment is from the same set. I love embossing, but rarely think to do it. But I did think of it today. I White Embossed the sentiment to help it pop even though it is a smaller font.

The second Stamp Bundle is the Spring Corners Bundle. I love the “corner” stamps, but also this set of balloons is great for a number of uses. And the matching Die makes it so easy. These balloons are colored with Real Red, Azure Afternoon, and Light Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends. There are also a set of balloons on the inside of the card.

PAPERS

Deciding on papers was a bit different for this card. I did not even think of DSP. That is very unusual for me! The idea had been for a masculine card so I had thought of the blues, with a layer of Crumb Cake. I ended with Night of Navy as the card base, a layer of Crumb Cake, and then the Misty Moonlight embossed layer. When I began laying everything into place, I realized the huggy guy needed a grounding spot. Thinking it needed a bright, stand out, layer, this became the Real Red strip. And then it developed a bit further with Heat Embossing the sentiment to aid the small font in popping.

EXTRAS

There are two wonderful extras today. The gorgeous Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder created the wonderful layer of depth. This folder gives such detail to a card. And for a change of layout, I staggered the two layers instead of aligning them properly.

The final touch is bling. For this scenario I decided on darker bling. The Regal Foiled Adhesive Backed Dots are rich, deep colors. And since there is a dark blue and a red, they worked perfectly. I used both of those colors and scattered them around the card.

I Appreciate You

I have been back from an Amazing Stampin’ Up! OnStage Event for a couple of days. A fun time was had for sure. We all received the upcoming Annual Catalog as well as some sneak peeks at upcoming May Online Exclusives. There are some awesome products in both releases.

This is a reminder to please check out the Online Exclusives currently available. Samples are shown with each product the same as in the catalog. I will admit that it has taken me a bit of time to get used to looking online. But then I think that I do this with most of the places I shop regularly. So why not with SU!

The card I have to share today is a simple Thank You type card. It is for all of you. You have all supported me in some way with my business and I am very grateful! This is a simple layout that can be simplified or taken up a notch, depending on your time or wishes.

Stampin' Up!, memorable blooms, lily pond, rhinestones, pretty in pink, pretty peacock, jackie beers

STAMPS

The stamped images are both from the Memorable Blooms stamp set. There is a bundled Die set, but I opted to stamp the floral image on the larger white layer. I had chosen the DSP first so colored the floral with Stampin’ Blends to match the paper. The flowers are Pretty In PInk with Pretty Peacock as the leaves.

To add the sentiment layer was a bit of a trial! The way everything layed out did not leave much room. So I got creative and left a straight edge along the top and sides with the bottom fussy cut. I actually like how it turned out. To create this, I first fussy cut the sentiment and then layered that onto the Pretty Peacock paper. Then it was fairly easy to fussy cut around the fussy cut. LOL!!!

PAPERS

There are actually two different sheets of DSP used. Both are from the Lily Pond Lane Designer Series Paper. This 6X6 pack is so fun with the lily pond and duck images on one side and complimentary design sheets on the reverse. I have used two of the reverse sides. The sentiment layer is a soft dotted pattern. And the strip of little flowers is what brought in the Pretty Peacock cardstock. I chose that as the thin layers and Pretty In Pink as the card base.

The card base measures 5 1/2 X 8 1/2. I added the thin layer of Pretty Peacock at 5 1/8 X 3 7/8. That left the Basic White layer to 5 X 3 3/4. And the DSP strip on the left only runs the length of the White. It measures 1 1/8 X 3 3/4.

EXTRAS

The DSP strip and the fussy cut sentiment added some extra touches to the card layout. So it really did not require a lot of Extras! It did require bling however. I went with the extra bling in 5 Rhinestone jewels. They are scattered around the flowers and a single one added to the sentiment.

Birthday Smiles

Before today’s card, I want to say that I will be away the rest of the week. The annual Stampin’ Up! Convention is in Raleigh and I will be leaving at dark thirty tomorrow morning. So no more posts this week. However I will be sharing photos on my Facebook Page if you want to check there.

Today’s card is a fun birthday for a friend who loves dogs. Can you guess which stamp set? It is a funny one, so you know it is a favorite of mine!

Stampin' Up!, One More Year, mini corrugated embossing folder, resin dots, shy shamrock, peach pie, jackie beers

STAMPS

This adorable, and funny, pup is from the One More Year stamp set. I love his funny facial expression. My friend has a mastiff who can have similar looks, so I believe she will appreciate this one. The sentiment is also from the stamp set. It actually has more sentiment beneath it. I stamped the sentiment and then cut it out and omitted the bottom portion. This is a really special looking script and I wanted it to stand alone.

EMBOSSING FOLDERS

There are two embossing folders here. First is the new Mini Corrugated Embossing Folder. It is the large ribbed section. And it is paired with the Forever Plaid Embossing Folder behind the pup. The two actually work very well together. I have to confess that I had the plaid on my desk as a leftover from another project. It fit in perfectly!

PAPERS

The papers for today are cardstock only. I used Shy Shamrock for the card base with Peach Pie for the embossed layers. These are part of the 2024-2026 In Colors and pair perfectly together. I like that they are both brighter colors than you might expect.

EXTRAS

There are two extras that are both the same shades as the cardstock. Around the corrugated piece I tied a knot using Shy Shamrock Ribbon. And then added bling of the subtle kind. The 2024-2026 In Color Resin Dots. There are five of the dots scattered around.

Lovely Birthday

Today’s card features a mix of some of the new Online Exclusives. The background is the fun Pattern of Friendship Die. I surprised myself and tried running the Die in both directions. The results were a happy one!

Stampin' Up!, pattern of friendship, lovely garden, textures notes, antique pearls, natural tones linen thread, jackie beers

STAMPS & DIES

There are two different Die sets used on this card. They are both new Online Exclusives. Since I mentioned the background layer, I will begin with the Pattern of Friendship Bundle. This Die is the only Die in the Bundle. It makes stripes of the fun pattern. However it is easy to line up in the opposite direction to create this plaid look.

The sentiment is also from the Pattern of Friendship Bundle. I really like this fun font. At first glance it may just look like a bold print. But if you look closer the corners are all rounded. This makes for a softer, and more fun, look.

To give the sentiment layer a little bit of texture, I went back to the Textured Notes Dies. These are several rectangle Dies in various sizes for easy layering. And each one has a different detail around the edge. This is one of the smallest ones from the set.

PAPERS

These purple colors were chose for the recipient. She is a purple person. The card base is Highland Heather. There is a thin layer of Garden Green to pick up the leaves of the flowers. And the Die cut layer is Fresh Freesia.

The pretty pink flowers are from t he Lovely Garden Designer Series Paper. I fussy cut this piece to layer on the front. By placing it, and the sentiment, a bit lower it allows the Die cut background to stand out.

EXTRAS

To play off of the green leaves again, I stamped the bold sentiment in the Garden Green as well. Then to add a bit more to the sentiment layer, I chose the green from the Natural Tones Linen Thread. A single bow was the right touch.

The bling is a bit more than my normal. With more of the open space I decided to add five blings instead of my normal three. These are the Antique Pearls. I like the softer sheen of these. And they are a bit flatter than regular pearls.
