Hello Birdhouse

With Summer in full swing it seems, I decided to do a garden type card using the Garden Birdhouse stamp set.  It is paired with the In The Wild Designer Series paper.  That sounds appropriate I believe!

Layout

I chose to do a 4 X 4 card with this adorable little birdhouse.  The size of the focal layer fits perfectly on the 4 X 4 size.  The InThe Wild Designer Series paper is also a good fit and not just the theme.  The size of the leaves are not too large for the birdhouse.

The base of the card is one color that it seems has not been shared in quite a while.  It is the Merry Merlot.  Of course I chose it from the colors in the DSP, but as soon as I placed the two pieces together, I knew it was the right one.

For the focal layer I went with the Crushed Curry to highlight it.  It is also used as the joining layer between the Merry Merlot and the DSP.  As I said earlier, the birdhouse is from the Garden Birdhouse stamp set.  I loved the size of the stamps in this set and thought they would be great for smaller cards.  The birdhouse is stamped using Cajun Cruze Ink and then colored with Crumb Cake, Cinnamon Cider, and Evening Evergreen Stampin’ Blends.

Finishing Touches

To complete this garden card, I added the Evening Evergreen Open Weave Ribbon off to one side.  There was enough room to also add a small bow.  I thought I would need to just add the little ribbon knot and was happy for the unexpected space.

To finish the focal layer I stamped the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  The sentiment is also from the Garden Birdhouse stamp set.  I “hung” the birdhouse from a 2021-2023 In Color Jewel that matches the greens of the DSP.

Measurements

  • base card is Merry Merlot cut 4 X 8
  • Layer is Crushed Curry cut 3 3/4 X 3 3/4
  • DSP is cut 3 5/8 X 3 5/8
  • Focal layer is Crushed Curry cut 1 3/4 X 3
  • Focal White is cut 1 1/2 X 2 3/4

Tips for Pals June Blog Hop

Hello, welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month our Design Team’s theme is “Fun Ways to Use Your Stampin’ Up! Products” where we show our favorite product tips. We hope you enjoy and will be inspired by them! Don’t forget to leave comments! We love hearing from you. At the end of my post, you will find the full line-up to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

There are way too many products to choose from for this Tips blog hop.  I finally narrowed it down to Punches.  One of my favorite ways to use a punch is to make a “negative”.  I have two cards to share using this technique.  I hope you like it.

For this card I Punched three of the Medium Daisy Punch from a piece of Basic White cardstock.   I also stamped two sentiments from the Daisy Lane stamp set.  The layers are a Melon Mambo base and Basic White beneath a beautiful sheet of Melon Mambo from the Brights Collection 6X6 Designer Series Paper stack.  The punched layer is then added on top using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The finishing touches are to add a punched daisy from Melon Mambo cardstock onto the front layer with a Glue Dot only beneath the center of the flower.  I also added a Playing With Patterns Resin Dot to the center of the flower.

I love how the gorgeous DSP shows through the punched daisies!  Here is another card using the same products with the DSP as the punched out layer.

This is a 4 X 4 card using the same products.  It is a different sheet of the Melon Mambo Brights DSP though.  This time I layered the White and punched from the DSP.  I also added a two layer flower using the punched DSP flower and a White flower from the first card.  The petals are alternated and the two pieced together in the center with a Glue Dot.

To finish this one, I added the same Playing With Patterns Resin Dots to both the negative flower and the double layer flower.  The sentiment is from the Daisy Lane stamp set, as was the first card.  This time I used the Double Oval Punch, the larger oval, to punch the sentiment.  It is adhered using Stampin’ Dimensionals

I love the depth and dimension that using the “negative” gives to the cards.  If this is not a new idea for you, I hope it will inspire you to give this old trick and new look!  Both of these cards are quick and simple to do.  They would qualify as #simplestamping as it is simply Paper, Ink, Stamp, and a punch plus an embellishment.  And there is only one ink color to go with it.

More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Mark your calendars for our next blog hop on July 14th for “Wonderful Cards from the Garden” when our Design Team creates a project with flowers or scenes from the garden. Don’t miss the fun! Until then, have fun in your craft space.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you enjoyed today’s project and will come back.  I do read and reply to all of the comments individually.  They mean a lot to me.  Please reach out if you have a question.

Keep Calm and Keep On Stamping,

Jackie

Floral Squares

I love the Floral Squares from the All Squared Away Bundle that I shared yesterday.  So I decided to make some matching 3X3 cards using the same products.  These would be great gift cards or Random Act Of Kindness cards.

Dies

On yesterday’s card I used the single square that is the little sunflower looking one.  Now you can see the other three flower options.  For each of these squares you get a single die to layer over the flower of the square.

For the top left flower I cut two flowers and layered the one on the lower stem.  I then cut the second flower and layered it on top of itself for a not quite fully opened flower.  The top center card has two different size flowers for the square.  And the top right has a two flower die and needed two cuts for the look I wanted.  The lower center square is the same as the one I used on the large card from yesterday.

Messages

As I mentioned yesterday, the sentiment was from the Many Messages Bundle.  The same is true today.  I love all of the different sentiments that are stamped and die cut with one stamp and one die.  Each of today’s cards have a different sentiment and even a different shape.  The Many Messages, as well as the new Many Happenings, are Must Have stamps with one die that fits the two.  I love having a little stash of sentiments that I can quickly choose from.

Connect, Craft & Connect Special

I wanted to remind you of the current Host Special going on.  It is through the 14th of June, so one more week.  For every order, or workshop, with $250.00 in product orders you get an added $25.00 Host Rewards.  The normal amount for a $250.00 order would be $25.00.  For this week it would go up to $50.00 in Host Rewards.  If you are interested in a quick party reach out to me.  We can do an online party and walk through the catalog together.

All Squared Away

The card I have made today is using another Bundle that it took me a few flips through the catalog to finally take a good look at.  Once I did, I saw the potential and now am loving the variety of looks it can give.  It is the Floral Dies from the All Squared Away Bundle.

Layout

I have been working on making cards with more “White” space.  I tend to use DSP and layers which do not leave very much White.  With that in mind, I decided to use just one of the Squares from the Dies.  I die cut the square in Soft Succulent to go with the softness of the Pale Papaya cardstock.  Beneath the flower inside the square is a flower that is Soft Succulent as part of the die.  For the flowers, I die cut three in the Pale Papaya and layered one in the square and the others as decoration.

The background of the square is Balmy Blue.  I felt that was the appropriate color to back the flower.  To ground the square, I added a ribbon in the Pale Papaya Open Weave Ribbon.  It is a dream to work with and is so soft looking.

Finishing Touches

To finish the card I added some of the Genial Gems to the center of each flower.  The sentiment is from the Many Messages Bundle and is added using Stampin’ Dimensionas.

I hope you have given the Many Messages Bundle a serious look.  It is a Carryover from the Mini Catalog, and now there are two stamp sets that match the Dies.  The new stamp is is Many Happenings. I have them stamped and die cut in both Black and Misty Moonlight.  They are in a little bag just waiting for a card.

Life Expressions

I have one of the easiest cards I have ever made to share with you today.  That being said, it is also gorgeous.  And I owe it all to the wonderful Expressions In Ink Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up!  I hope you think it is as beautiful as I do.

Gorgeous Designer Series Paper

Do you agree on the paper?  This sheet of the Expressions In Ink DSP is one with an alcohol and ink creation on the back and a strip across the center like this piece on the front.  I cut it so that the majority of the beauty shows.  I think the paper is simply a WOW!!

The card base and matting were chosen from the colors in the DSP.  The base is Shaded Spruce with Soft Sea Foam as the mat.  I wanted a sentiment that was short, but went with the paper.  In the stamp set Life Is Beautiful, I found the perfect one.

***OOPS!!! I messed up with the sentiment.  As I type this and look for the stamp set, I realize it is retired!  Somehow it ended up back on the shelf with current products! I am only 6 months out of date with this set!   I apologize!!!  However, I believe it shows how a great sentiment is all you need to pair with this beautiful DSP.

For the finishing touch on the card I added one last thing.  I used the Simply Elegant Trim, which comes in gold and silver in one package.  I chose the gold trim to match the gold veins in the paper.  A simple finger bow with a glue dot and it is a finished card.
