Winter Note Cards

Thank You cards are always needed, but especially around the Christmas Holiday.  I made a packet of two different designs to share with you today.

Stampin' Up!, White note cards, peaceful cabin, peaceful place, jackie beers

Peaceful Cabin to begin

I love the simple stamping that the Peaceful Cabin stamp set calls for.  There are dies which can make gorgeous cards by die cutting the images and layering.  To me they are wonderful without the layering.  I stamped the trees by stamping with Just Jade Ink and then stamping again without re-inking.  The adorable fox just fit with the gray color scheme.

Peaceful Place Designer Paper

A friend who is also a demonstrator posted a card very similar to this one yesterday.  Her version was beautiful and had more details.  Since mine is a Thank You card, I kept it fairly simply as I was making several of each of these.

The star of this card is the DSP.  The trees here are a piece of the DSP, as is the background strip.  The Peaceful Place DSP is so versatile and gorgeous.  The idea for these cards came to be due to having strips the size of the ones on both cards.  I cannot bear to waste beautiful DSP.

Check back later today for the Last Chance Lists from the Mini Catalog.

Grateful

The idea for today’s card was for a very soft and simple card using a new stamp set.  The stamp set is in the Annual Catalog, I had just not gotten it until recently.  My original idea did not work, so on to plan B and not a “soft” card. LOL!!!

Stamp Set and Dies

The stamp set, actually a Bundle, that I used is the Forever Grapevine set.  It contains this awesome grapevine and then several wonderful sentiments.  There are matching dies to fit the grapevine as well as the little sentiment die cut I used.  I love the little curly pieces of vine behind the sentiment.  They are also included in the Die set.  Little add ons like these pieces really make the sentiment pop without any extra bulk.

Colors

To carry the Grape theme, I went with Blackberry Bliss and Soft Succulent.  Blackberry Bliss can be either for red grapes or my favorite – a Muscadine.  The grape vine would have been fine with a darker color.  However I like mixing a soft and strong colors together.

I cut the Basic White layer shorter so the ribbon would not cover part of the vine.  This Open Weave Ribbon in all of the 2021-2023 In Colors, is so wonderful to work with.  A small bow really makes a great finishing touch I think.

Floral Thanks

The card I have to share with you today is a mix of stamps, dies, and DSP.  I love playing Mix & Match with the various products from Stampin’ UP!.  This layout is one that I will be making quite a few of I can tell.

Stampin' Up!, Color and Contour, Harvest Meadow, Jackie Beers

Stamps

The flower image and the sentiment are both from the Color & Contour stamp set, which is part of the Color & Contour Bundle.  To achieve the scalloped shape of the DSP I used one of the Scalloped Contour Dies.  The flower image is stamped using Smoky Slate Ink.  It was colored using Pale Papaya and Soft Succulent Stampin’ Blends.

The sentiment is a gorgeous font.  I love a variety of fonts and this one is really nice.  Misty Moonlight Ink was chosen not only because it is such a pretty color, but to stand out and to match the DSP.  The sentiment is  stamped directly onto the card base.

Paper and Finishes

The card is a Thick White cardstock cut to 4 1/4 X 11 and folded in half.  I sometimes add a second layer of White in making this style card.  But today it is all just the one layer.  The DSP piece is from the Harvest Meadow Designer Series Paper .  In my opinion you can never go wrong with shades of blue.  And this pattern is really pretty.

To finish this card, I die cut the DSP using the middle of the Scalloped Contour Dies.  There are five with a variety of different design of scalloped edges.  The die used for the flower is from the same die set.  To add just a bit of something else,  I used the White Bakers Twine to wrap around the DSP and finish with a simple bow.

Pretty Pumpkins

This Mini Catalog is full of beautiful stamps and other products.  And I say that I love them all.  This is true, but one of the favorites is the Pretty Pumpkin Bundle.  I have used it a couple of times already.  This version has an old, but fun, technique for the pumpkin.

Stampin' Up!, Pretty Pumpkins, Blackberry Beauty, Jackie Beers

Paper

I have to begin with the paper.  This piece of the Blackberry Beauty Designer Series Paper is worthy of an “OH MY!!!”.  The Blackberry Bliss mixed with the softer colors and gold is amazing.  I tried layering without adding the thin Basic White layer, and it just did not work.  With the White focal layer, it needed that thin strip to tie it together.

Stamps

The gorgeous pumpkin and the font of the sentiment are part of what makes this stamp set such a favorite.  It is the Pretty Pumpkin Bundle, although I did not use the dies.  That flowing script on the sentiment is stamped using Cinnamon Cider Ink.  I have commented previously  how much this ink appears to shimmer and looks like embossing almost.  It definitely does in this instance.

Technique

As I mentioned in the beginning, this is an old technique with various names.  I call it the Baby Wipe Technique.  My Silicone Mat was used with a Baby Wipe folded into a square on top of it.  Blackberry Bliss, Old Olive, and Cinnamon Cider Re-Inkers were then used to randomly drop little dots of color around on the baby wipe.  It really looks like a hot mess when they all bleed together.

Here is where opinions very.  Some people say to just ink your stamp one time from the mixture and stamp it.  I like a variety of the colors.  I ink a couple of times and turn the stamp as I go.  This method puts more of a mixture of color and makes some new colors.  It is definitely a technique to experiment with.

Measurements

  • Card base of Blackberry Bliss is cut 5 1/2 X 8 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4
  • Basic White layer is cut 5 1/4 X 4
  • DSP layer is cut 5 1/8 X 3 7/8
  • Blackberry Bliss small layer is cut 2 3/4 X 4 1/8
  • Basic White stamped layer is cut 2 5/8 X 4
  • The focal layers have the top corners rounded using the Detailed Trio Punch

Grateful garden

Before I get to today’s project, I wanted to remind you it is the last day of the Designer Series Paper Sale!!  15% Off of select Designer Series Paper from the Annual Catalog.  The list is at the bottom of the post, so don’t forget to check it out.

Today I am using one of those gorgeous papers that are on sale.  It is the Beauty Of The Earth Designer Series Paper.  For the time of year with all of the green we have going on, I opted for the pattern with a lot of green in it.

Stampin' Up!, Beauty of the earth, Garden Wishes, Dandy Wishes, Grapevine

Products

For what appears to be a rather simple card, I used quite a lot of different products.  I did a mix & match on this one for sure.  The beginning of the card was this sheet of DSP.  The wood is the back side of the green trees and leaves.

To continue the nature look I added a dandelion.  Those things grow everywhere!!  This one is from the Garden Wishes and the matching Dandy Wishes Dies.  These were a Bundle, but now are only available individually.

The sentiment is from the Grapevine Bundle.  It fits perfectly inside the matching die.  And with the shape of the die, it does not need a layer behind it.

Layout

With the nature theme from the paper, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the back of the paper was the wood look.  After seeing that I wanted to use both sides.  This is a simple layout that enables me to do that without using a lot more of the DSP.  The DSP is cut 3 3/4 X 5.  I then cut it to 2 1/2 X 5 and 1 3/4 X 5.  The White layer behind is 4 X 5 1/4, so a normal layer size.

The finishing touches are very simple.  The ribbon is a wonderful one that I was thrilled to see carry over to the Annual Catalog.  It is Early Espresso Faux Suede Trim.  The ribbon looks thick, but is dreamy to work with.  And for the finishing touch I added some of the Genial Gems.  A large one is in the center of the Dandelion and two smaller ones with the sentiment.

Artistic Thanks

Before I get to today’s card I have to share with you, I want to mention again my Paper Share for the upcoming Mini Catalog and Sale-A-Bration Designer Series Paper.  You would receive a sample of all of the new DSP in the Mini Catalog, as well as SAB catalog.  It does not include the returning favorites.  This is my first time doing a Paper Share, so I hope you will sign up.  You can see all of the information and the sign up form by Clicking HERE.

Now, on to the card for today.  This is another one using the Expressions In Ink Designer Series Paper.  You all are probably familiar with how gorgeous this paper is.  It does so much of the work by itself.

Stampin' Up!, Artistically Inked, Expressions In Ink, Jackie Beers

The Paper

As I mentioned at the top, this DSP is so beautiful that it is a wonderful card all by itself.  There are a couple of sheets like this one with white running through the middle.  I love being able to cut the paper to use the sheets like this one without covering up any of the color and the gold.

Of course I chose the other colors based on the DSP.  The green is Soft Succulent and was chosen as a soft pairing for the Magenta Madness of the rose.  The paper has both Magenta Madness and Polished Pink.  I used the softer Polished Pink as the cardstock layers.

Stamps and Dies

The stamps used for the flower, leaves, and sentiment are from the Artistically Inked stamp set.  I used the matching Artistic Dies for the stamped leaves and flower, and also for the DSP cut small flower above the Thanks.  You can save 10% by purchasing the stamp and dies as a bundle.

The little flower cut from the DSP does not show the shape as well as I thought it would in the photo.  But you cannot miss the great gold running through it.  To finish the card I added a gold gem from the Genial Gems to the center of large flower.  Gold is always a good choice!!!
