Before I get to today’s card, I have a great announcement for you.  Stampin’ Up! is offering Free Shipping on qualifying orders (50.00 and over), tomorrow only.  That is correct….FREE SHIPPING ON DECEMBER 8TH!  And there are still Last Chance items available.

Now for today’s card.  It is a Joyful Birthday card using the Joyful Life stamp set.  These cute critters make me Smile!

Stampin' Up!, Joyful Life, Sweet Symmetry, Stitched So Sweetly, Jackie Beers

Stamp Set and Dies

As I said above, these little critters are just so darn cute.  You cannot help but Smile when they pop up on a card.  This one is carrying a bowl of Granny Smith Apples as a birthday gift.  Or at least in my mind she is doing that!  The sentiment is from the stamp set as well.  To add a pretty shape for the small sentiment, I went with one of the Stitched So Sweetly Dies.  These are a great set to have on hand for smaller, but fun shape, layers.

Paper

The card base is Calypso Coral cardstock with a layer of Basic White.  The star of the show is the Sweet Symmetry Designer Series Paper.  I love the color combination in the main pattern I used.  And the cross piece is from the same pack.  All of the sheets of paper coordinate beautifully with each other.  My card colors generally come from the piece of DSP I have chosen as my star.  It makes the layout go pretty quickly.

Masculine Birthday

I am falling back to a Birthday theme for today’s project.  Even though we are in Fall / Winter / Holiday mode, there are still birthdays.  I prefer not to give birthday cards that reflect the season of the year.  So here is a simple, fun guy birthday card.

Stampin' Up!, Happiest of Birthdays, Hats Off, Rectangle Postage Punch, Jackie Beers

Stamps

The hat, stars, and hat emblem are all from the Hats Off stamp set.  This is part of a Bundle, I just did not use the dies for this card.  Everything is stamped ,and in the case of the emblem is colored ,for a quick and easy card.

Punch

The punched sentiment is a cute stamp which I love from the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set.  I felt the card needed a touch of layering, so used the Rectangle Postage Stamp Punch to cut the sentiment out.  The final addition is a Linen Thread multi strand bow.  Even guys can have a bow if it is made from a masculine looking material! LOL!!

Floating Chick Fun Fold

Today I am participating in a Fun Fold Blog Hop.  My card is Floating Chicken, what could be better!  I hope you will follow along.

Stampin' Up!, Hey Birthday Chick, Dots Folder, Jackie Beers

I found this Fun Fold idea from Dawn Griffith.  She has great directions so I am not going to attempt to duplicate her work.

The open card:

And the top view:

Stamps

I used the Hey Birthday Chick stamp set.  This card needs multiple images and I needed a birthday card. LOL!!  I kept everything fairly simple to allow the Fun Fold to shine.  The images are all stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Stampin’ Blends.  I did add Wink of Stella to the little chick’s egg on the inside.  The party sprinkles are colored using both Pale Papaya and Fresh Freesia Markers.

Paper and Embossing

I chose the colors for my recipient and even though they are not a normal pairing I believe they work well.  They are Pale Papaya and Fresh Freesia.  It is difficult to see from the photo, but I embossed the White of the two flaps with the Dots Embossing Folder.  This is one of the Mini Folders that comes in pairs.  The pair for the Dots is a Checks.  They are both wonderful.

Thank you for hopping along on this Fun Fold Adventure.  You should be able to continue on by clicking the link below.

Multi fold Birthday Gift Card

The project for today is a new version of a Multi-Fun Fold I did a few weeks ago.  This version is a beautiful, flowery Birthday card.

Stampin' Up!, Hand Penned Petals, Hand Penned DSP, Peaceful Moments, Tailored Tag Punch, Jackie Beers

Stamps and Paper

The beautiful DSP is all from the Hand Penned Designer Series Paper.  You can see from the patterns I used just on this view how well the designs coordinate.  These patterns make me Smile!

The Happy Birthday, as well as the inside sentiment are from the Peaceful Moments stamp set.  This set has awesome greetings and lovely fonts which make them extra nice.  I also used the Hand-Penned Petals stamp set to stamp a sweet flower on the inside.

Fun Fold and Gift Card

This version of this Multi Fold card has a much simpler method for staying closed.  Or rather, almost closed.  The folds are a bit stiff and do not close totally.  Here is also a view of the Open card.

I have all of the directions posted in the original Blog Post that I did with this fold.  The only difference are the closure and the gift pocket.  You can click HERE for those original instructions.

Additions to original directions

Did you notice the gift card?  I found from other Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators, so I am not sure who to give the credit to for the great find, that you can make any card a Gift Card Holder.  That is by simply seating your layer completely into the Tailored Tag Punch, center it on each side, and punch.  Then when you adhere that layer, do not add any adhesive between the punch and the bottom of the piece. Only go around the edges from the punched section down.  The gift card will fit perfectly.

And do not discard the Tailored Tag that you punched for the Gift Card.  Yes, that is what the sentiment is stamped on for the front of the card.  I saved a little piece of paper from the trash! LOL!

For the closure on this card, the sentiment is added to the green stripe layer.  It is attached with a vertical string of Stampin’ Dimenionals.  The bit of pressure the dimensionals give keeps the front flap from opening.  This is a much easier closure than the original card and just as cute!

Gorgeous Birthday

Today’s card is another one made from leftover pieces from my desk.  I love picking up a piece of Designer paper and seeing where it leads.

Stampin' Up!, Gorgeous Leaves, You're A Peach, Tailor Made Tags, Jackie Beers

Paper

Since I began the card with a scrap of the You’re A Peach Designer Series Paper, I thought I would start there.  The piece of scrap, and there were two of these, measured 3 1/2 X 2 3/4.  I cut it on the diagonal to make these two unequal triangles. ( I do not know the proper triangle name!)  They were adhered to the ends of the White cardstock and then the overhanging edges trimmed off.

To coordinate with my DSP inspiration pattern, I went with an earthy layer.  The Kraft paper from the Mini Catalog is what I choice.  It is a stiffer piece but layers very well.  So it became the separation layer as well as the star of the cad with the Tailor Made Tag.

Stamps and Finishes

These beautiful leaves are from the Gorgeous Leaves stamp set.  I wanted bright colors to pair with the green of the DSP piece.  The ones I chose are Merry Merlot and Bumblee.  They are both stamped randomly between the DSP sections.  For an addition to the tag, I added just the Bumblee smaller leaf.  But also used the Merry Merlot for the sentiment.

The sentiment is from the Artistically Inked stamped set.  If fit perfectly on a 3/4″ piece of White and imitates the White area on the card layers.  For finishing touches I added a few of the Genial Gems scattered around, along with a Bumblebee ribbon on the tag.  The Bumblebee Ribbon is a retired item from the last Annual Catalog.  I apologize about that since it is not currently orderable.

Please check back tomorrow for another version of this card.  Remember that I said there were two pieces of the scrap DSP found!!

Birthday Expressions

My project for today is a quick Birthday card using the beautiful Expressions In Ink DSP along with the equally wonderful Artistically Inked stamp set.  It is a quick and gorgeous birthday card.

Stampin' Up!, Expressions In Ink, Artistically Inked, Expressions Ephemera Pack, Jackie Beers

Paper

My saying simply Paper is like saying Oh Well.  This Expressions In Ink Designer Series Paper is one of Stampin’ Up!’s best ever.  The gorgeous colors with the fine touch of Gold is exquisite!  So my apologies for making it sound plain.  Obviously the DSP is the star of this show by far.  What is not to love about it?

Saying that, I went a bit of a different direction with the base color.  Generally I would pick the pink or peach, but instead wanted to use one of the greens.  I settled on Shaded Spruce. This is such a vibrant green that it really works wonderfully with the paper.  To continue the green, I used the Shaded Spruce Ink to stamp the sentiment on a plain piece of White paper.  Leaving just the white breaks up the printed DSP more than layering it would have.

Stamps and Finishes

This group of products is actually a Suite of products.  It is the Expressions In Ink Suite.  The stamps and dies are a Bundle that you can purchase without the entire suite.  It is aptly named Artistically Inked Bundle.  I did not use much of the Bundle however.  The sentiment is from the stamp set, and the dies creating the flowers at the end of the sentiment are from the die set.  That was from a scrap I had to trim for the paper size and decided to use it.

For the finishing touches, I added a few of the Gold Metallic Pearls to the flowers and the sentiment banner.  And for the first time, I used the Expressions In Ink Ephemera Pack.  It is a little hard to see in the photo.  The gold leaves behind the left side of the sentiment layer are from the pack.  I placed them above and below the sentiment for some added bling!  The only part of the Suite that I did not use is the ribbon.  Maybe next time it will be included.
