February Fun Fold Blog Hop

Today’s project is part of a Fun Fold Hop.  I hope you will continue on from me and share the love with the other designers.  We all love comments and to know if you like our Fun Folds.

My card is a version of a fold I made a few years ago as Christmas cards.  Not sure why I have waited this long to recreate it.  The Friendly Gnomes and Lucky Clover were my inspiration for this fun card.  They create a sweet Luck and Love card.

Stampin' Up!, Friendly Gnomes, Lucky Clover, Decorative Circle Punch, Label Me Fancy, Heart Pearls, Jackie Beers

Stamps

You can see that I used a mix of the Friendly Gnomes and the Lucky Clover to create my little scene.  The Friendly Gnomes are just so darn cute.  I love the look of the gnomes and since I love to color it was a great choice for me.  The Gnomes Dies from the Holiday Mini carried over and fit the little guys in this stamp set.  Also the little flower on the step is from the Friendly Gnomes set.  To give the Gnome a little background, I punched a piece of Petal Pink with the Decorative Label Punch.  It gives some strength to him standing up.

I hate that the Clover Punch sold out so quickly.  But it is really not needed if you use the stamp.  As long as you don’t mind a bit of cutting, you are good to go.  And the shape is such that it is not at all a detailed cut.  I used both the large and the smaller clover.  Giving the Gnome a little clover for his hat seemed to really tie the two together.  The Good Luck and large clover are cut with the Label Me Fancy Punch.  The sentiment is over to the right to leave room for the clover to hang on the left side.  And the clover received a little extra love with a Heart Pearl in it’s center.

Papers and Colors

The DSP used is from the Annual Catalog paper Happy Forest Friends.  The woodsy paper fit perfectly with the gnomes and clovers.  I used two different sheets.  In the photos above you can see that the closed card has two pieces of the woodsy paper.  And the “step” is the second one showing a green forest floor look.

All of the other colors came from the woodsy paper.  I went with Mossy Meadow for the card base, but softened that with Petal Pink as the layers.  The heart and the Good Luck are both Calypso Coral, again pulled from the DSP.

Measurements

The Mossy Meadow card base is 8 1/2 X 5 1/2, scored at 4 1/4 and 6 3/8.  On the front, the Petal Pink layers are 2 pieces cut to 5 1/4 X 1 7/8.  The 2 woodsy DSP pieces for the front are both 5 X 1 3/4.  For a base on the inside of the card, there is a Petal Pink layer measuring 5 1/4 X 4.  It has Basic White layer at the top cut 5 X 1 3/4 and then the grassy DSP piece is the same size.  But the grassy piece is raised using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  This allows the front fold to “stop” against it to hold the card in position.  This is a super quick and easy card to put together as it is simple measurements.  I hope you will give this a try!

Pearl Tag

Today’s card is a Card, Tag, and Gift Card Holder.  I love multiple use cards and this one is a pretty one using the By The Bay Designer Series paper.  Plus who does not love a Pearl!!!

Stampin' Up!, Seaside Bay, Mini Pocket Envelope, By The Bay, Pastel Pearls, Petal Pink, Jackie Beers

This project is my design for the Make My Monday Challenge Blog.  The challenge is a Tag.  I went a bit beyond that.  You can click on the icon and go to the blog to see what the other designers have made.  And you can join the challenge yourself.

Tag

My tag is made using the Mini Pocket Envelope Die.  It is the perfect size for a gift card as you can see in the second photo.  There is the main pocket die and several additional decorative pieces to go with it.  I used one of them to create the sentiment layer.  My sentiment is shorter than the die cut, but that was an easy fix.  With it being scallops it was very simple to die cut, then place it back into the die with the end that needs shortening falling right into the scallops.  Easy peasy and oh so cute.

Paper

This gorgeous DSP is from the By The Bay Designer Series Paper.  I love the soft colors and then the pop of Gold and Starry Sky!  They are all beautiful together.  The tag is angled a bit to better see the little bit of the Petal Pink in the paper.

From another piece of this paper pack is where the sea shell came from.  There is a stamp in the stamp set.  But this goldish version was on the back side of one of the pieces of DSP.  I fussy cut it out, which was really quick, and just added a bit of Petal Pink color to it.  The pearl got some Wink of Stella to give it the shine it deserves.

Stamp

The sweet sentiment came from the Seaside Bay stamp set.  I did not use the matching Dies.  But I thought this sentiment went perfectly with the shell and pearl.  It is stamped using the Starry Sky Ink which really pops.  This is an adorable set of everything on the beach , matching Dies, and this beautiful perfect which coordinates all of the stamps.

Embellishments

To complete this project I went with shiny things.  The ribbon on the gift card Tag is the Petal Pink soft Ribbon and has a touch of a sheen to it.  I used an old 1/8″ hole punch to make a hole in the flap of the tag and fed the ribbon through.

The finishing touch is the pink pearl.  This is a larger one that is in the Pastel Pearls pack from the Annual Catalog.  It was the perfect finish to this card.

Old Town

It has taken me a while to breakout the In The Country stamp set.  They can be very detailed or lightly colored and still be beautiful.  I chose to share the old steps and flowers with you today.

Stampin' Up!, In The Country, Layering Diorama, Delicate Desert, Polished Pink, Jackie Beers

Stamps

The single stamp used here is all it takes for a beautiful card.  This image reminds me of a photo I took in Europe that I use as my phone screensaver.  I wanted the flowers to pop as they are in my photo.  The charm of old and fresh really appeal to me and I hope they do to you as well.

This building could be colored using a terracotta look or the gray stone as I have done.  Coloring the flowers and greenery was really easy since they are pretty tiny.  All I did was use the harder pen end of the Stampin’ Blends and dabbed the colors.  One of my favorite things to photograph when traveling in Europe are the doors.  I love the old ones but especially the brightly painted ones.  So of course my door here had to really pop as well.

Dies

The Layering Diorama Dies seem to fit the old looking image well.  It is like a torn page from a book.  Personally, I love the odd shapes in this Die set.  This shape mimics the shape of the steps, just with an added twist so to speak.  And that bit of a twist allows the die cut image to very easily, and prettily, stand alone on the front of the card.  That is another win in my book!

Paper and Ribbon

This rustic looking paper was a great find in looking for the appropriate paper for my image.  It is a “back” side of one of the Delicate Desert Designer Series Paper pieces.  I think it looks like a painted plaster or even a faded linen.  Whatever it is supposed to be, I love the look of it.  The gray is one I do not use as often as others.  It is the Gray Granite card stock.  But it is the perfect fit for this card.

To complete my card and to highlight the bright door, I opted for another touch of the Polished Pink.  This is in the form of the Polished Pink Open Weave Ribbon.  I love this ribbon in all of it’s color options.  It is really easy to work with.  In going with my more simple and clean layout, I opted to not use a bow.  The easy to do knot was the perfect chose I believe.  And I know you will be shocked, but there is NO bling on this card!  I can’t believe I refrained from bling!

February InKing Royalty Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s February Blog Hop! This year’s hops are inspired by our favorite shapes and favorite colors – today’s projects showcase some of Stampin’ Up!’s amazing shades of red. We are excited to share our creations and hope you love them! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

My idea for today’s theme was to show how well the Stampin’ Up! color products look together.  One of my main love’s of Stampin’ Up! is color coordination and this card shows that with Sweet Sorbet.  Of course I had to add in some additional colors as well.  And a bit of a Fun Fold to go along.

Stampin' Up!, Scenic Garden, Framed Florets, Country Gingham, Matte Dots, Baker's Twine, Jackie Beers

Stamps

Besides the colors, the stamp set is definitely a star of this card.  Both the focal image and the side image are from the Scenic Garden Stamp set.  This is a Sale-A-Bration set and a beautiful one.  With flowers blooming all around in nature, I decided to have them blooming on my card.  The stack of planter pots is one image and is stamped using Tuxedo Memento Black Ink.  There are a variety of colors used to bring these flowers to life.  They are all Stampin’ Blends and listed at the bottom of the page in the Supply List.   I will say the flowers are Sweet Sorbet and Flirty Flamingo for the softer pink ones.

To finish the Book Fold edge of the card, I used a second stamp from Scenic Garden set.  It fit perfectly on the “spine” of the book fold.  And it is colored the same as the flowers in the pots.

Papers

My first thought on the “Red” Theme is this Sweet Sorbet.  It is a softer Red and does not have a lot of orange to it.  A perfect tone of color!  I paired it with a piece of the Country Gingham Designer Series Paper also in Sweet Sorbet.  As you can see, the two piece pair beautifully together.

To make a frame for the focal image, I opted to go with a real Frame.  This Granny Apple Green frame is from the Framed Florets Die set.  I love the little hash marks around the edge.  Plus the green pulls out the green in the image.

Embellishments

To further show off the Book Fold of the card, I added multiple strands of the 2022-2024 In Color Baker’s Twine in Sweet Sorbet and White.  This really helps to tie all of the Sweet Sorbet pieces together.  And to complete that tying together, I also added a few of the 2022-2024 Matt Dots.  There are two Sweet Sorbet and one of Parakeet Party, which matches the Granny Apple Green very well.

Thistle

The Beautiful Thistle Bundle is one that I wanted because of some great memories.  One of my first trips to Europe was to Scotland and Ireland.  I remember seeing all the Thistle items in the gift shops and in the countryside.  So when it was in the Mini Catalog, I knew I had to have it.

Stampin' Up!, Beautiful Thistle, Charming Sentiment, Sentiment Silhouette, Dainty Flowers, Polished Dots, Jackie Beers

Beautiful Thistle Bundle

This pretty bundle has a variety of thistle stamps and greenery as well as some wonderful sentiments.  The matching dies will cut out the thistle images, as well as pieces to create your own thistle.  That is what I have done.  I may have taken some color liberties with my thistle, but that is fine.  The details on both the Highland Heather flower and the Soft Succulent neck are really pretty and add to the images without a need for stamping.  I did keep the stem fairly simple and a darker shade using Evening Evergreen for it.

Papers

With knowing I was making a Purple thistle, I looked for paper that would fit as a background and have appropriate colors.  This piece was found in the Dainty Flowers Designer Series Paper.  It is a Free one with Sale-A-Bration.  And if it is sold out, there are a couple of options in the papers in the Annual Catalog.

By pulling from this piece of DSP, I went with Sahara Sand as the card base.  Then added a layer of Gorgeous Grape for a deeper purple.  These colors all work wonderfully with the shades in the DSP piece.

Sentiment and Embellishments

Having said there are great sentiments in the Thistle set, I chose a fun birthday greeting from the Charming Sentiments Bundle.  This is a set of all sentiments with matching Sentiment Silhouette Dies that cut around each of the sentiments.  I love that look.  To continue with the colors in the paper, I chose So Saffron as the sentiment layer.  And stamped the sentiment using Orchid Oasis.  It is another Purple option.

To finish the card, you know I needed a bit of bling.  This time I chose to use the Elegant Faceted Gems.  Because of the watercolor look of the paper I thought they were a perfect choice.  The clear drops could be water drops, and are scattered around.

Thank you for stopping by today!  I hope yours is a good day.
