Fancy Flowers

The project I have to share to do is a bit of a different look for me.  This one uses the large card front size die in the Two Tone Flora Die set.   The unusual part is that I don’t generally use those large dies, and that I used DSP as the paper for it.

Stampin' Up!, Two Tone Flora Dies, Fancy Flora DSP, Art Gallery, Jackie Beers

Die

This full size die is beautiful.  And as I mentioned, quite different for me.  I love the look, but do not think to use these.  In this instance, the DSP was what prompted it.  And this Die has so much gorgeous detail that it would work with anything.

Paper

The DSP is the Fancy Flora Designer Series Paper.  While I was sorting through it to pick a layer, I had the large die on my desk.  Looking at the paper and then the Die was like a commercial of bumping into each other and the mix working. Since it was a floral die, I pulled color from the DSP piece to choose the other colors.  The strip for the sentiment is the opposite side of this DSP piece.

Stamps and Finishes

With the Die and the paper, the stamp set was the least of the products on this card.  But this simple sentiment is from the Art Gallery stamp set.  To finish everything I added a scattering of the 2021-2023 Opal Dots.  These are the outgoing In Colors.  So I mixed some of the Evening Evergreen ones with a few of the Pale Papaya and love the result.  This card uses very little in the number of products and would work with any DSP!

Moving On To Retirement

Today’s projects is a Retirement card using the Special Moments and Best Delivery stamp sets.  Moving On To Retirement is a good thing!

Stampin' Up!, Best Delivery, Special Moments, Senior Years, Jackie Beers

Stamps

Making it to Retirement is a wonderful event.  But cards are a bit difficult for this, and especially when it is a man!  However, as soon as I saw the big moving truck, I knew it would make a perfect retirement card.  Guys like motor vehicles and it has that large side for the announcement.  So Best Delivery stamp set to the rescue!

For the sentiment, I turned to the Special Moments stamp set from Sale-A-Bration.  That set has amazing sentiments for so many occasions.  And to add some excitement to a large truck, I used the balloons from Best Delivery set, in two colors, blowing out the back.  I can envision using this truck for other announcements now.  On the inside, I stamped the Happy Retirement sentiment from Senior Years stamp set.

Colors

Since the truck is rather large, I went with a couple of cardstock layers instead of DSP.  Not a lot of the layers are actually seen.  So Bumblebee and Misty Moonlight were my colors of choice.  And that is definitely a change for me since I tend to use multiple pieces of DSP on a card!  For the truck to be lighter and allow the outlines to show, I went with Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends for the cab and boarder of the cargo part.

I hope you will see this truck in a new light now and consider all of the “Announcements” that it can be used for.

Peony Expressions

The card I am sharing today is a special one.  It was made as a shower card for a sweet young lady I consider to be my Goddaughter.  And of course her fiance as well .  Pink is not really one of her wedding, or shower, colors. But pink and a peony just seem to go together.

Stampin' Up!, Expressions In Ink, Prized Peony, Color & Contour, Gold Foil, Jackie Beers

Stamp Sets

The star of this card is the peony.  It is from the Prized Peony stamp set and has matching Dies but is no longer a Bundle.  The Peony is stamped with Versamark onto Basic White cardstock.  I then used White Embossing Powder to heat emboss the image.  Next was the fun part.  It is an old technique that we used to use the sponges to create.  However, now we have the awesome Blending Brushes.  I used Polished Pink Ink and a Blending Brush to cover the entire embossed image.  After adding the color, I went back over the flower with a tissue and wiped the ink off of the White embossing.

Not to leave well enough alone, I tried a different technique as an addition for the leaves.  Using the Just Jade Light Stampin’ Blend, I did basically the same thing except just over the leaves.  I then used a tissue to wipe it off of the embossed area.  It is not as dark as I anticipated, but I like the subtle shading it gives.

For the sentiment I found this sweet one in the Color & Contour stamp set.  I stamped it using the Polished Pink Ink.  The ink color matches the darker areas in the Designer Series paper.

Dies and Punches

To cut out the peony image, I used the matching Die set that is aptly named Peony Dies.  It really does allow the peony to be the star of the card.  After choosing the band of Gold Foil to ground the peony, it left me without an area to stamp the sentiment.  Since I love punches, and have all of the current ones, I checked all that would fit the size I needed.  The one that fit the bill the best was the Essential Tag Punch.  It has just enough of a defining shape without competing with the flower and paper.  I did trim about 1/2″ off the bottom as it was a tad larger than I needed.

Paper

It is hard to believe that this fabulous paper is my final area to comment on.  For once the Expressions In Ink Designer Series Paper is NOT the star of the card. That is really hard to believe.  Because this card was for a special occasion, I went wild with the Gold Foil.  That is not something I normally do.  Usually less is better.  However, when dealing with the gorgeous DSP and the veins of gold, I had to have gold as the background layer.  Then I needed a grounding of some kind for the peony and tag. So add a strip of gold instead of a piece of ribbon as I normally would.

The finishing touch is a scattering of tiny Pearls.  There are more than I normally would use, but they add to the elegance.  I also used the Simply Elegant Trim (It has both Silver and Gold Trim in the Combo pack) to make a tiny bow for the tag.  I hope you are as happy with this final result as I am!

Nursing Graduation

A young lady that I think of as a God-Daughter, and her Fiance, have just graduated from Nursing School.  She was even Summa Cum Laude !!  WooHoo!!!  I made them each a card using the Suit & Tie Dies which makes an awesome Nurse’s Uniform .  Although some of the products have retired, I still wanted to share the cards with you.  They had to see the cards before anyone else!

Female Version

I made the cards a bit early, and was not thinking about this color now being retired.  Purple is her favorite color which made my color choice quite simple.

Male Version

It is the same card, just Misty Moonlight in place of Purple Posy cardstock.

Products

I will apologize again regarding using now retired products.  But I could not post the cards until I gave them to the awesome couple.  The color and the center of the stethoscope can be easily duplicated with other products if you do not have the retired ones.

The same products were used on each card.  I just changed the colors a bit.  The cute heart pattern inside each of the stethoscopes is from the newly retired Heartfelt stamp set.  The Congratulations at the bottom of each card is from the Peaceful Moments stamp set.  The sentiment fit perfectly across there. It is stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

The stethoscope is made using two of the Layering Circles Dies.  One is Silver Foil and the other White cardstock.  For the black rubber part, I took a scrap of Basic Black and just rough cut with my Paper Snips an arch.  Then it was easy to trim to fit.

Measurements:

  • The base of each card is 4 1/4 X 11, scored and folded at 5 1/2.
  • The White layer is 4 X 5 1/4
  • The Misty Moonlight and Purple Posy layers are 3 7/8 X 5 1/8
  • The pocket is from a scrap of each color.

Oh Snap I Forgot

Oh Snap! is perfect for this card.  This past year has really messed with my brain and how I seem to operate.  I have become LATE on way too many things.  This card is one of them.  I needed a Congratulations card and am very late getting it made and sent.  I hope you are not like me!!

I used the gator and his bird friend to shout Congratulations.  They are both colored using Stampin’ Blends.  I added some light Pool Party to the bottom of the card to ground them and also serve as some water.

The Congratulations is from the Peaceful Moments stamp set.  I layered it onto a piece of Granny Apple Green cardstock.  I added a few of the Opal Rounds to be add some bling as well as look like water droplets.  I apologize for the poor photo quality as it is hard to see them or the Pool Party at the bottom.

I forgot to take a photo of the inside.  Of course I did!!!  But, I stamped the Oh Snap, and die cut it along with a Granny Apple Green background using the scalloped small circles in the Layering Circles Dies.  I added this to the inside along with a handwritten apology for being so late.

This is a really quick card to make and hopefully will make the recipient Smile.  That is always my goal with my projects.

Thank you for stopping in today.  Tomorrow is the Pals Blog Hop.  I hope you will join me and hop along through all of the blogs for some great card ideas.

You Go Girl!

I have never been a fan of really Girly things.  That is just not me.  But the minute I saw  the Hearts & Kisses Bundle in the Mini Catalog, I was in love.  Especially in love when I saw the punch!  I do love my punches.

Stampin up, hearts and kisses, stitched with whimsey, sand and sea, Jackie Beers

You may be surprised, but the gorgeous DSP is the Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper.  I love this variegated look on some of the sheets in the package.  I pulled all of the colors from the paper, of course!  The picture does not show the edges of the DSP well, but I used the Stitched With Whimsey Die around the edge.  It has a whimsical, hence the name, trail of stitching.  It shows in person but the busy of the paper doesn’t allow it to show in the photo.

The card base is Melon Mambo with a layer of Blushing Bride beneath the DSP.  All of the stamps are from the Hearts & Kisses set.  The background squiggle is stamped using Petal Pink.  The hearts and lips are each using Melon Mambo, Flirty Flamingo, and Blushing Bride.  I punched out each piece and raised them using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment is from the Hearts & Kisses as well.  I didn’t really have room to layer it as I normally would.  After looking at it a few minutes, I decided it would be a pretty straight cut.  So out came my Paper Snips and away I went.  I did cut straight across the bottom and top, with the exception of the tail of the “g” and the height of the “L and !”.  As I was finishing I noticed the angle after the explanation point and decided to go with that.  I also gave an angle to the other end.

Just a reminder about Sale-A-Bration!  With the purchase of the Hearts & Kisses Bundle, the Sand & Sea DSP, and a pack of card stock…you are at the $50.00 level for a FREE product from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog.  This bundle has a lot of flexibility, especially with the punch.  And you get FREE product.  WooHoo!!!

As another bonus…..with the $50.00 purchase point to receive SAB, you also would be at my Blue Star Perks reward.  For every $50.00 of product, you receive a star.  With 10 stars, you get a $50.00 shopping on me!  The rewards is explained at the top of the page under the SHOP button.
