Playful Valentine

I have a fun card for you today.  I started with a fold from a card I had received in a swap.  It had several layers that opened like pages in a book.  I started with that, but took a wrong turn somewhere in my scoring, LOL!!!  But I am happy with the Tri-Fold Card I designed from the error.  I hope you will enjoy it as well.

I LOVE Cats and Dogs, and most other animals.  And my husband does as well.  Maybe even more than I do.  So this became the Valentine card I will give to him.  Here is a view of the open card.

The cat is smiling up at the frowny face little dog and I thought that was too cute.  When in actuality, it would be just the opposite probably. Since cats are usually the stand offish ones.

Here is a close up of the cat.

I used the Playful Pets Designer Series Paper for the stand out part of the card.  I chose three different papers that worked together.  The ribbon is from the Playful Pets Trim Combo.  I tried to line them up along the bottom.

The hearts are from the Heart Punch Pack.  I kept that simple to show off the dog and cat.  They are fussy cut from the Playful Pets DSP also.

The sentiment is from Hot Dog Stamp Set in the Mini Catalog.  I used a small sticky note to block the rest of the sentiment.  All I wanted was the I Love You.  I have a small pad of those on my desk for a variety of uses.  I just have to remember to remove it before I stamp!!

I will add a small piece of White cardstock on the center panel for what I write for hubby.  But for the picture I left that off.

Thank you for stopping in today.  I do have all of the measurements for you.  All of the supplies are at the bottom of the post.  I hope this gives you a Smile in your day!!

Measurements:

  • card base is 5 1/2 X 11, scored at 4 1/4, and 8. (or 3 and 6 3/4, depending on your preference)
  • DPS is 2 3/4 X 5 1/8 , 3 3/8 X 5 1/8 (X2) , 3 7/8 X 5 1/8
  • The second of the middle DSP goes on the backside of middle panel as you can see that panel when the card is closed.

Two Chicks

I have a 2 For 1 to share with you today.  I am being a little different.  I hope you already know that the Hey Chick from a previous Sale-A-Bration is returning.   Actually it is already here and was orderable beginning on Monday.  PLUS…. it has matching dies ! Oh My!!

In addition to the previous Hey Chick, there is a new stamp set in this current Mini Catalog named Hey Birthday Chick.  It is adorable.  Well…..Stampin’ Up! has added dies to match this new Hey Birthday Chick stamp set as well.  How Awesome is that????  So I am sharing a pretty simple stamping with the Hey Birthday Chick and then just a second card that is just a touch stepped up.

Isn’t that chick just too stinkin’ cute???  I colored her in not a very flattering way.  She looks like maybe she had too much fun at the party.  For the background, I used the New Blending Brushes to shade in some Just Jade Ink.  Everything is stamped directly onto the Thick White Cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  All of the coloring is done using Stampin’ Blends.

Here is the second version.

For this version, I did everything the same as the first card.  I then added a layer of Real Red Cardstock to show off the red in the chicken.  I stamped the sentiment on scrap paper and punched it using the Classic Label Punch.  It is then raised with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.  For the finishing touch, I added Red Rhinestones scattered around.

It will not be long before I share a new card using this stamp set and the super cute dies that match.  Here are a look at both bundles.  You can just click on the image for a closer look in the Online Store.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I really do appreciate every time you check out my projects! All of the supplies I used in both of the cards today are just below.

Donkey Barn Door

I saw a card made to look like a barn door for the donkey.  I wanted a simpler version though.  So I played with it and come up with a Fun Fold that would work for any type card.  I used stamps and paper that make it so if you have it already in your mind…..then it might be a barn door!! LOL!!

Stampin' Up!, Darling Donkey, In Good Taste, Jackie Beers

I just adore this little guy, or gal.  The facial expressions that Stampin’ Up! gives to the animal stamps are always so cute.  As I said at the top of the post, I was looking for a simple barn door.  I went to the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper for a wood piece.

I did not want this card to be very neutral looking or simply masculine.  To that end, I chose Poppy Parade as the bright piece for this project.  To pull out the gray in the wood, I added a layer of Smoky Slate Card Stock.  It is one of my go to colors.  It pairs so well with anything else.

Here is a look at the open card.  And ignore the unfinished inside.  I have not decided on the proper sentiment so have not added the white layer to write and stamp on.

I have the measurements and directions to share with you.  I will definitely be making more cards using this fold.

Measurements and instructions:

  • Base layer is Poppy Parade cut 4 1/4 X 5 1/2
  • Door flap is Poppy Parade cut 2 3/4 X 5 1/2, scored at 1 1/4 on the 5 1/2 side
  • Fold on score line and adhere the 1 1/4 section to the left, bottom of the Base
  • Smoky Slate is cut to 4 1/8 X 5 1/8 and adhered over the base and the small section of the door
  • Cut another Smoky Slate layer at 4 1/8 X 2 5/8 to adhere to the front of the door flap
  • DSP is cut to 4 X 5 1/8, then cut it in half at 2 5/8 on the 5 1/8 side.  The taller section adheres to the upper part of the card.  The shorter section adheres to the door flap.
  • The inside lower, behind the door flap, is Whisper White cut to 2 1/2 X 4 (I do not have that in the photo)
  • The front donkey layers are:
  • Poppy Parade is 2 3/4 X 3 3/4
  • Smoky Slate is 2 5/8 X 3 5/8
  • White is 2 1/2 X 3 1/2

Crocodile Smile

I am having so much fun playing with all of the new Mini Catalog products!  I especially love the more humorous sets.  These are calling the “inner Child” in me.  I do not mean that they are intended for children by any means.  They just make you Smile and Laugh!!

I always say that I love cards or projects that make me Smile when I see them.  This one is sending a Smile!  From the first time I saw this set, I knew it would come to my house.  The sayings are so darn cute.  I have a friend who always says “Oh Snap”!  That is in the set, and is the set’s name.

I kept this card very clean and simple.  I used the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper as the jungle background for the crocodile.  He is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and then filled in with both of the Granny Apple Green Blends.

For the sentiment, I used the Double Oval Punch.  I would apologize for using this as much as I have, but I just cannot feel bad about it!  This punch is awesome for so many of the sentiments that we have.  It is probably my Number 1 from the Mini Catalog.

I did not use as many layers as I normally use.  I only did the background and then DSP or the layer and White.  My one finishing touch is a Holiday Rhinestone in the bright green beside of the sentiment.

Thank you for stopping in today.  Please come back tomorrow.  Tomorrow is the first Pals Blog Hop of the new year.  There will be many great projects for you to hop through.

Snail Mail

The Snailed It Bundle was the first set I wanted from this Mini Catalog.  I think it is just so cute and definitely brings a Smile!!  I love Smile cards.

I paired the Snail with the gorgeous Snail Mail Designer Series Paper.  The hard part was trying to decide which of the paper to use!  It is so cute!!

I chose the Bermuda Bay from the DSP as my background and then added the Snail Mail Combo Twine for the added touch.  The twine is thinner than normal and great to work with.

I hope you are enjoying looking at all of the new products.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

All of the new items are not available yet for me to pull pictures for my supply list.  They should be up tomorrow.  I will try to remember to update the supply list then.

Pet Rivalry

I am sure you were thinking “what in the world” to my title for today!  I had the Pampered Pets set out to color an image for a friend to determine the best brown for a dog card.  When I went to play today, I decided to use that dog I had colored.  My crazy mind went back to our chocolate lab that passed a few years ago.  He was always good for craziness!!  And the card was born.

stampin' Up!, Pampered Pets, Ghoulish Goodies, Rectangle Postage, Jackie Beers

The idea behind this layout, is that our dog was allowed to lick the cat plates once they were finished.  However, there is always one in a crowd!  One of the girls would always sit there acting like she was still eating if he made a move to her plate!  Even though she was finished and had cleaned the plate.  She just loved to aggravate the dog 🙂  So that is what I see in this kitty by the food bowl. LOL!!!

I truly adore the Playful Pets Suite of products.  But the paper is almost the tops.  I know I can pair the animals with other paper, but I just adore these patterns.  They are just perfect images in  my opinion.

You cannot see the sentiment layer as clearly as I had hoped.  But it is punched using the Rectangle Postage Punch.  The sentiment itself is from the Ghoulish Goodies stamp set.  Good To The Last Bite fit the image in my mind perfectly!

The finishing touch is the heart above the sentiment.  It is from the Dog Builder Punch.  I finished it off with a small Pearl for some bling.

Thank you for stopping by today!  I really appreciate it.  And I would love to hear from you to see if you agree with my animal humor!  I have added the measurements below, and have all of the products listed at the bottom of the page.

Measurements:

  • base of Basic Black is 4 1/4 X 11, folded in half
  • Real Red layer is 4 1/8 X 5 3/8
  • DSP large layer is 4 X 5 1/4
  • Dog layer is 2 3/8 X 2 1/4 and 2 1/2 X 2 3/8
  • Cat layer is 2 7/8 X 1 3/8 and 3 X 1 1/2
  • layer behind sentiment is 1 1/2 X 2 1/8
