Stampin’ Up! has a fabulous Bundle that I was a bit nervous about when I first saw it. This Bundle is a die and stamp set that creates the little pop up inside pieces that we have made for years. The exception is that where we have always folded paper strips to make the pop up mechanism, SU has created a Die to do this for us! WooHoo! on that from me. I always got my folded pieces a bit cattywhampus!!! (That is a technical term for crooked!) I am excited to share my version with you using the Die.

Pop Up Petal Bundle

The card I created was kept simple on purpose. I wanted the pop up part to be the star, but to also showcase a fairly quick and easy card. All of the images are from the stamp set, and the pop up box inside is created with the Die. The inside flowers have dies as well.

To create this card you do need to have a “liner” on the inside. Otherwise you would have a hole in your card at the fold. That is not a good look. For my version I used Thick Basic White for the card base of 5 1/2 X 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/2. Then I cut down a regular weight Basic White layer to 5 X 8 and scored at 4. The Die for the pop up box is a small rectangle (actually there are two different sizes of boxes you can cut). The easy part is that the Die has an arrow at the top and the bottom which aligns with your score line. By placing the die aligned like that it cuts it exactly where it needs to be and you have tackled the hardest part.

There is also a simple way to add some DSP to the “box” by using the same Die and simply cutting a straight line on each end where the die would not cut. The little flaps are a separate Die and make a great addition. The hardest part is attaching the flowers without having excess adhesive. You do not want to close your card and due to extra adhesive it does not open again!

Mixed Up Patterns Designer Series Paper

This fun pack of paper named Mixed Up Patterns is a great one. These patterns are not bold floral or geometric. They are simple patterns that compliment almost anything. My front panel and the inside pop up box are both pieces from this pack.

Extras

To continue with the simple and easy theme of this card, I kept the embellishments along those lines as well. On the front is a strip of Balmy Blue Gingham Ribbon that is wrapped around the layer and secured on the back. Then a short piece is slipped underneath the front and tied in a knot. This is the easiest bow there is! And my bling is not very shiny today. I chose to go with a soft bling. The Moody Palette Glossy Dots are a mix of colors that are soft with a touch of shine to them. The purple vase was just a bright pop for the card and then the light dot gave it the match to the other pieces.
