Lavender Column Card

The card I am sharing today is one my downline, Karen Szczepkowski, made as a swap for OnStage.  I fell in love with it immediately.  And I bet you will as well.

Stampin' Up!, Charming Sentiments, Sentiment Silhouette, perennial lavender, painted lavender, purple shimmer, jackie beers

The Card

Above is the card laying flat for mailing.  Now for the stamp up view.

And the other side

I should have taken a view from the top.  The column is square and shows off the three panels of DSP, plus the additional one that is on the right edge.  I did not add an inside sentiment in my recreation.  However the card folds flat for mailing but also will fold flat to the left so you could easily stamp, write, or add a thin layer with your inside sentiment.

Papers and Directions

The gorgeous DSP are all pieces from the Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper.  Each of the three column strips measure 1 3/8 X 5 3/8.  And the right side back panel one is 1 1/8 X 5 3/8.  The card base is Basic White that measures 5 1/2 X 10 1/8.  It is scored at 4 1/4, 5 3/4, 7 1/4, and 8 3/4.  Fold and burnish all of the folds with all going in the same direction.  As you fold them all you will see that the column almost creates itself as they curl in.  To dry fit and square up the column.  Lay the card with the “back of the card” to the right and all of the scores to the left.  Fold at the 4 1/4 score line and then on each score line making a square of those folds.  The last and smallest one does not quite meet the 4 1/4 score line.  Now you are ready to secure the column

Before gluing, add all of the DSP panels in place as shown.  Next,  fold the top sections at the third score line ( the one closest to the 4 1/4 score) and press the others flat.  Lift the last, and smallest section, add adhesive to it and tuck under.  Press it flat and when you open it up you should have a column.  To fold for mailing, simply fold on the 4 1/4 score line and you will have the card laying like the first photo above.  Make sure to try this before adding adhesive!!

Sentiment layer

The simple sentiment layer is perfect to not cover the beauty of the paper.  This lovely Happy Birthday is from the Charming Sentiments set.  And the matching Die cuts it perfectly.  The dies are named Sentiment Silhouette Dies.  I stamped in Shaded Spruce to bring out the dark green of the DSP.  To give some added texture, I added a faux bow from the 2022-2024 In Color Orchid Oasis Bakers Twine.  And of course some bling!  One of the Fine Purple Shimmer Dots fit that bill perfectly.

Masterfully Simple

I have a really quick card to share with you today.  It is also a great use of DSP.  The card is a bright and happy one.

Stampin' Up!, Inked and tiled, masterfully made, decorative circle, vellum, jackie beers

Papers

The most prominent part of this card is the bright papers used.  The card base is Berry Burst and then the pairing of Azure Afternoon.  This color is quickly becoming a favorite.  Of course the DSP helps in the brightness and of pairing the two colors.  This gorgeous mix of colors is from the Masterfully Made Designer Series Paper.  Stampin’ Up! Designers created this paper by tearing strips of fabric, paper, and layering over copied text.  It is beautiful in my book and they are so creative!

To help the focal layer Pop from all of the pretty paper colors, I added a piece of Vellum card stock behind the floral sentiment layer.  Vellum can add a lot to a card by it’s simplicity.  And it is on the retiring list!  That is so sad.  I am covered though, I have quite a lot of it and plan on continuing to use it.

Inside View

The front of the card is all about the color.  But there is a little bit of Fun Fold to this card.  The card base is a quarter sheet of card stock with a “card” added to the front.  Here is the open view:

How simple is this!!!  In retrospect, I will recreate this and have the Azure Afternoon as a full fold and not simply the partial at the top.  That will add a blue layer all the way down the card.  As I said above, the card base is 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 of Berry Burst card stock.  The Azure Afternoon is 3 X 6 1/4 and scored / folded at 3/4.  (Next version will be 3 X 11 and scored / folded at 5 1/2)  And the Basic White layer is the same as the DSP layer.  They are 2 3/4 X 5 1/4.

Stamps

The stamp set used here is an old favorite.  It is the Inked & Tiled stamp set.  I love the definition in the flowers of this set.  It is sort of a distressed look.  The simple flower on the front of the card is stamped in Berry Burst with the stamen in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I love the sweet sentiment and it is from the set also.   On the inside is Happy Birthday stamped In Azure Afternoon.  For the small flower head I used Stampin’ Write Markers in Berry Burst and Shaded Spruce to color the red rubber and then stamp. Again, all of the stamps are from the Inked & Tiled set.

Finishes

The added pieces of the card are created with two punches. They are the 1 3/4 Circle Punch for the sentiment and the Decorative Circle Punch for the Vellum background.  The Decorative Circle is a go to for me and it is retiring!!  I may have shed a tear over that information 🙁

To add more color to the focal layer, I added a faux bow beneath the sentiment layer.  It is using the blue from the Sheer Ribbon Combo pack.  This ribbon is fairly thin and so easy to work with.  The final touch is Bling!  I was very restrained and only added one Rhinestone to the center of the flower.

Retiring Items and Price Increases

Please do not forget to check out all of the retiring products.  All of the items are accessible below by clicking on the Annual Catalog or Mini Catalog lists.  There are quite a lot of punches and dies retiring.  My two favorite punches, the Decorative Circle and the Double Oval are on the list.   Additionally, Very Vanilla Thick card stock is retiring as are the Very Vanilla note cards & envelopes, plus Medium Very Vanilla envelopes.

ALSO there are some upcoming price increases in the new catalog.  They are not on everything, but card stock, Inks, and adhesives are the main ones.  So stock up now before the increase.

Darling Thanks

Today’s card began as an oopsy cards!  I was designing a card for a class and cut the paper wrong.  Of course I did not notice it until after I had adhered the DSP to that layer.  So the card I am sharing is one that I figured out how to use the piece anyway.

Stampin' Up!, Darling Details, Masterfully Made, Heartfelt Hexagon, Sheer Ribbon Combo, Festive Pearls, jackie beers

Papers

The cut up layer was the problem child.  I love the Masterfully Made Designer Series Paper and hated to toss it.  After a bit of contemplation, I decided to cut the layers into strips to randomly place on this card base.  Actually they are not randomly placed but you understand I hope.

The card base is Basic White with a layer of Berry Burst.  I pulled the Berry Burst from the DSP.  The layer behind the DSP is Azure Afternoon.  Since the DSP is sort of “torn” pieces anyway, the cutting into strips really was not a huge stretch.

Stamps and Punch

The stamped images are all from the Darling Details stamp set.  I wanted something lighter with the busy background.  The flower is outline stamped with Berry Burst Ink and then filled with Bubble Bath Ink.  I added leaves of Pretty Peacock.  The small sentiment didn’t really show when I stamped it on the flower layer.  So I stamped on scrap and then fussy cut.  By doing this and raising it with Stampin’ Dimensionals it really pops.  To give an additional shape with the strips, I punched the sentiment layer with the Heartfelt Hexagon Punch.  The entire layer is raised as well.

Finishes

To complete this card I added some of the Sheer Ribbon Combo in Azure Afternoon.  There are a couple of strips simply adhered below the sentiment layer.  For the Bling, I went back to one of my favorites, the Festive Pearls.  I am so sad they are retiring.  I love that there are different colors included in this pearls pack.  And between them they go with almost everything.  For today I added a trio of the silver pearls to the center of the flower.

Lovely Congratulations

There are PDF’s of the Last Chance Lists at the bottom of the post.  They will be there each day for your easy reference.

Today’s card is a Lovely & Sweet card.  Plus it is a fairly quick one.  The mix of Lovely & Sweet with the amazing matching DSP is wonderful.

Stampin' Up!, Lovely and sweet, natures sweetness, deckled circles, basics embossing folder, jackie beers

Papers

The papers are the star of this card.  But not for the reason you would think. Generally I pick colors from the DSP.  This card was originally designed around the floral image.  It is part of one of the Nature’s Sweetness Designer Series Paper prints.  Having a matching Die to cut out the image is Fabulous!!  And I think one of the best ideas Stampin’ Up! has incorporated into their Suites of products.

The image was Die cut and then colored softly.  I didn’t want the colors to overpower the gold outline of the design.  And to match the gold, I added the layer of Wild Wheat behind that was embossed using the Crosshatch folder from the Basics Embossing Folders that are an Online Exclusive.  This is a favorite background as it works with anything.  And finally to pull out the center of the flower, I added a Deckled Circle cut from Berry Burst card stock.

Stamp and Die Bundle

The Lovely & Sweet Bundle is a mix of sweet sentiments and flowers to compliment the DSP.  With matching Dies that not only work with the stamps, but the paper as well, it is a keeper.  The stamped image of the flower, I cut from paper, has the proper flower name.  It looks like Prune in the writing.  And since I am not a horticulture person I Googled it.  Come to find out this is an Almond Tree.  I was surprised as that is not what the name sounded like. But it made it easy to color based on the photo in my Google search.

The simple sentiment is from the stamp set as well.  With all of the business of the other components, I opted to keep this part very simple.  I stamped with Berry Burst and then just angle cut the ends.  It is a little larger than I would normally do that size sentiment.  But a smaller one got lost.

Finishes

There are simple finishes for this card as it has quite a bit of layers and dimension.  I added Burlap ribbon from the Red & Burlap Ribbon Combo.  Then had to add a touch of Bling.  There are a scattering of the Gold pearls from the Festive Pearls embellishments.  I wanted another gold to match the flower outline.

Heartfelt Birthday

The card I have today is one made from a card sketch I received at Stampin’ Up! Convention.  One of the wonderful additions to the next catalog is a line of sketches for you to use for inspiration.  The one I am using was circles and I have changed it to hexagon shapes.

Stampin' Up!, Heartfelt Hexagon, Lighter Than Air, Notes of Nature, Rainbow Dots, Jackie Beers

Stamp and Punch Bundle

The Heartfelt Hexagon Bundle is one I love. Punches are generally my preference for quick cards.  And that was what I was going for here.  As I mentioned above, this card is a copy of a sketch, except think circles where my hexagons are.  I am aware that my angled layers are not for everyone.  I am fine with cattywampus placement and I know several stampers who much prefer everything evenly spaced.  Sorry for those of you who are cringing !!!  LOL!!!

The stamps are all from the Heartfelt Hexagon stamp set with the exception of the banner sentiment.  That sentiment is from Notes of Nature stamp set.   I cut both pieces, the flower and the love & hugs layers with the matching Hexagon Punch.   The banner is clipped on each end with paper snips.

Papers and Colors

This card base is a Basic White one to highlight the DSP colors.  The soft pastel stripes layer is from the Lighter Than Air Designer Series Paper.  All of the other colors are pulled from that paper of course.  I added a layer behind the DSP of Fresh Freesia card stock.  And stamped with Azure Afternoon and Pool Party, with the flower petals being Highland Heather Blends.

To finish the colors, I added the yellow twine from the Baker’s Three Color Pack.  This was the added pop and texture the card needed.  Of course I have to add bling.  In this case it is more pastel colors instead of bright and shiny.  The scattering of little dots are from the Rainbow Dots embellishments.  I used ones matching the DSP and that would show well.

Thanks for stopping in today!!!

Nature’s Sweetness

I am home from the Stampin’ Up! Convention.  And a wonderful time was had by all!!  Having an in person full convention was awesome.  Stampin’ Up! knows how to put on a party and it was so fun.  Nothing beats the atmosphere to get everyone in a great mood.  And ranking right at the top is seeing friends from all over the country.  I am tired and very happy!!  Oh, you are going to LOVE the new products in the Annual Catalog!!  I feel like I have already worn out my copy.

To get back into the routine, I have my swap card to share with you today.  It is the card I swapped in our group.  Later in the week I will share the ones I received with you.  My card showcases the Nature’s Sweetness DSP as the star.

Stampin' Up!, Natures Sweetness, Lovely & Sweet, Thoughtful Expressions Dies, Festive Pearls, Vellum, Jackie Beers

Papers

The paper is the star of this card in my opinion.  I love these sheets from the Natures Sweetness Designer Series Paper.  By  using two thin strips of the DSP, I was able to get more cards and showcase the two complimentary pieces.  As I made these cards, I became more in love with these two colors of card stock.

The Pebbled Path card stock seems to have a little bit of sheen to it and looks very rich with the Wild Wheat.  I do love the Wild Wheat.  And I love stamping with it, although I did not stamp with it here.  When I first saw these two In Colors last year I would have never thought of them as having a touch of elegance.  After this card, I think can be very elegant.  Especially when paired with the touch of Vellum card stock.  The Vellum piece was the finishing touch to bring this card together.  That final “this is it” took a while!!

Stamps

The sentiments are the only stamping on this card.  And that feels a bit strange.  The sentiment on the front is from the Lovely & Sweet stamp set.  We should definitely share more love to our friends and family.  And this little sentiment does it in such a sweet way.  I failed to show the inside of the card.   That sentiment is from the Notes of Nature stamp set and says “Thanks for making me smile”.  I also added the splatter stamp from Notes of Nature in the Wild Wheat ink, but stamped off.  It mimics the gold splatter on the DSP.

Dies

The Die set used is from the Thoughtful Expressions Dies.  There are layering dies in an oblong design and these fabulous circles.  These circles seem to have just enough size difference to show off the details of each layer.  I really did have a difficult time figuring out a finish for this card regarding the sentiment.  After deciding on the Wild Wheat behind the Basic White sentiment, it still needed something.  The Vellum card stock was the answer and happily it shows the detail of the die as well as the card stock.

Finishes

This card has quite a bit of highlights between the layered sentiment and the gold of the DSP.  But there still must be bling!  I added a single gold pearl from the Festive Pearls embellishments.  Yes it was difficult for me to only add one bling!  However I added a bit more bling by making a small bow from the Gold & Silver Simply Elegant Trim.  That little thin bow was the final touch.

Measurements

The Pebbled Path card base is cut 4 1/4 X 11, scored and folded at 5 1/2.  Wild Wheat makes a thin border layer and is cut 3 7/8 X 5 1/8.  The left panel is cut 2 X 5, with the right panel at 1 3/4 X 5.  I opted for two different sizes to make cutting faster.

The Retiring List / Last Chance List will be available this afternoon.  I will make an extra post to share that with you as soon as I can.

Thank you for stopping by today!!

Adoring Stripes

Before I get to today’s card, I want to let you know that I will be absent for the rest of the week.  I am attending the Stampin’ Up! Convention in Houston.  This is the first full convention since pre-Covid and I could not be more excited!!  Seeing other demonstrator friends from around the country creates tons of excitement.  Plus we get to see the upcoming Annual Catalog early!  Oh My !!!  But I will be back with you on Monday.  Hubby is staying home with the kitties to keep everyone here happy.

Today’s card is a great use of DSP strips.  I made this for my club and there are eight members. This can be a bit difficult in using DSP to have enough.  However with these strips that is not a problem!

Stampin' Up!, Adoring Hearts, Nested Essentials Dies, Forever Love, Gold Trim, Jackie Beers

Paper

The paper to create these strips was the beginning of the card.  I had the strips idea and in looking through all of the DSP, I stopped when I came to the Forever Love Designer Series Paper.  These Pretty Peacock and gold designs are beautiful!  There was debate on doing a mix of colors, but I decided this was the best option.  I love the same color with just the change of design on each.

The layer of Very Vanilla measures 4 X 5 1/4.  Each of the strips is 4 X 1 1/4.  And I just eyeballed the placement of the middle one.  (With a little help from the grid paper!!)  Then added the top and bottom pieces.  (Note:  To be safe, add the strips to the Very Vanilla prior to adhering the Vanilla tot he card base.  This allows you to easily trim your strips if they are a tad long.)  To continue with the tone on tone colors, I added the focal layers in the same colors.

Dies

These wonderfully shaped layers for the focal area are the Nested Essentials Dies.  They are the second and third from smallest size.  I love the different shape from circles and squares.  And the stitching around the edges is just enough decoration.  I will note that I found it easier to die cut the Very Vanilla piece prior to stamping.  It was easier for me to place the flower knowing how much room I had.  Since I tend to use scraps for this size cut, I was afraid I would stamp and then not have enough space to die cut.

Stamps

The stamps are not the last thing I generally mention.  In this case,  it is not the star of the show!  This pretty rose is from the Adoring Hearts stamp set.  The size was perfect for the space and it is detailed enough to be just right.  I colored it using Highland Heather Stampin’ Blends for the flower and Pretty Peacock Stampin’ Blends for the leaves and stem.  There is no sentiment because I thought this card could be used for any occasion.  And changing the paper would make this layout great for anything as well.  I did stamp the inside, but again no sentiment there  This one will wait for the perfect occasion.

Finishes

To finish off the card did not require much at all.  I added a couple of the Iridescent Foil Gems since they include gold in the little dot.  And I placed a swirl of Gold Elegant Trim behind the card.  This was to highlight more of the gold foil.  Some of my club ladies opted to leave off the trim and it looked great that way as well.  Let me know what you think!

Thanks for stopping by today and I will see you on Monday.

Lavender Hills

The card I have for you today was a total surprise when finished.  And that is a very Happy Surprise.  This is really outside of my comfort zone and I love the outcome.

Stampin' Up!, Hills of Tuscany, Painted Lavender, Double Oval, Orchid Metallic Ribbon, Jackie Beers

Stamps 1

This card utilized A Lot of stamps.  It may be an all time record!  But it was so fun to create and see it come to life.  The majority of the stamps are from the Hills Of Tuscany stamp set.  This is one that I overlooked a couple of times in the Mini Catalog.  I am so happy that I finally ordered it. These stamps are distinctive, which means they have lighter sections in each stamp.

To create the Hills, I used the large hill stamp.  It is inked with Lost Lagoon Ink and randomly stamped across the lower half of the card.  I went from one side of the layer to the other.  And even turned the stamp upside down to fill in spaces.  The outcome, surprisingly, reminds me of rolling hills. Next came the clouds in Balmy Blue, followed by the trees.  The tree stamp is three trees together.  They are stamped using Shaded Spruce and the lighter ones are where I stamped twice without re-inking.

Stamps 2 & 3

The sentiment is from the fabulous Perennial Postage stamp set for set number 2.  I love the message, but also the mix of fonts.  And the last stamp set is the Painted Lavender set.  The Gorgeous Grape flowers are from that set.  As is the greenery behind them.  I wanted the flowers to pop more than the greenery, so I stamped the greenery in the same Lost Lagoon as the hills.

Papers and Finishes

There is no Designer Series Paper for the second day !  Oh My!!! 🙂   However, the Gorgeous Grape really pops the flowers from the scene and that is enough.  I must confess that I had intended for the layer to be Lost Lagoon and accidentally pulled Pool Party instead.  When I realized my mistake, I decided I liked the Pool Party.

To complete the card I punched the sentiment from Pool Party with the larger oval of the Double Oval Punch.  Behind it I placed two little strips of the Orchid Oasis Metallic Ribbon.  I love this ribbon and all of the colors available!  The final touch is a scattering of the beautiful Purple Shimmer Dots.

Thank you for stopping by today!!!

Sending Wishes

Today’s card showcases two of the gorgeous, and bright, 2022-2024 In Colors.  I love bright colors and generally lean towards that family of colors.  If you love these colors then now is the time to grab them.  They will be retiring at the end of this Annual Catalog.  That time is fast approaching as it ends April 30th.  That is not far away!

Stampin' Up!, Sending Smiles, Tailor Made Tags, Parakeet Party, Tahitian Tide, Jackie Beers

Stamps and Matching Dies

This card is cased from a layout Mary Fish showcased last week.  I made a few changes, which is proper, and love the outcome.  The boldness of the “Sending” definitely jumps out at you.  I really did not intend for the tag to be quite so large.  But when that is what fits then you have to go with it.  And I do like it now.

The sentiment, both parts, is from the Sending Smiles stamp set.  Actually all of the images are from that set.  I stamped the stem of the flower directly onto the Parakeet Party with Parakeet Party Ink.  That was not what I cared to pop out, so it works perfectly.  The flower is stamped on a  scrap and cut using the matching Die set.  (They are no longer a bundle, but both still available in the Annual Catalog).  The Die set is named simply Sending Dies.

Tag

The fabulous tag is from a different Die set.  It is the Tailor Made Tags Dies.  There are two different tag sets with different edges to them.  This is the largest of one of those sets.  I really like the stitching, and the edges near the hole are pretty.

Papers

There is no Designer Series Paper on this card!  That is shocking I know. LOL!!!  But with the brightness of the Parakeet Party and Tahitian Tide it really was not needed.  I do love this layout with the two larger center colors and will be using it again.

Finishes

The Tahitian Tide Metallic Ribbon is almost the star of the show.  This ribbon is available in all of the 2022-2024 In Colors.  I have them all and use them regularly.  They pair great with a lot of the regular colors and not just these In Colors.  Sadly the ribbon will retire when the colors do. 🙁  I may be stocking up on these!

The other finish is one that I thought had carried over and is not in stock.  So hopefully you have something similar to use, or happen to have these.  It is the Adhesive Glitter Sequins.  The colors are perfect to match my  bright colors.  I added a large one to the center of the flower and a small matching one to dot the “i” in Sending.  Then there are three of the green lined up on the Tahitian layer.  It gives great Bling to the card!

Bonus

This card was the second version I made.  For the first one I fussy cut the sentiment instead of using the tag.  It is ok but not as exciting as the tag.   You do see more of the flower stem in this first version.  I am sharing it with you as a Bonus Card!  Let me know what you think.

Thank you for stopping in today!!!
