A Cup of Sweet for GDP221

I hope you had a fabulous day yesterday!  My hubby and I just relaxed all day, and ate too much.

Today’s card is another use for the Cup of Christmas Bundle.  It shows that this stamp set doesn’t have to be for Christmas.  To me it seems more like a wintertime set.  And that is what I used it as.

To play along with the Global Design Project 221 Color Challenge, I made a cup of hot chocolate.  To me that is most definitely a Sweet Treat!

Here is the Color Challenge:

These colors, and especially the Early Espresso, made me think of Hot Chocolate.  I did a bit of a watercolor wash behind the cup using  watered down Shaded Spruce at the bottom and Early Espresso at the top.  It was supposed to be a little shadow and then steam coming out of the cup.  But when I added the tag it covered up most of my steam.  So I went with the tried and true “flicking” of color from Stampin’ Write Markers to give the background some color.

Thank you for stopping in today.  Hopefully you have another day of relaxing to do.  I hope you will come back tomorrow for another new project.

Nature’s Christmas

I am giving one last love, probably, to Nature’s Beauty stamp set.  I said probably because I may use it again as just a winter time card.  I love the animals and the background I envision with them.

As with most of my cards, this did not end up the way I intended when I began.  But I am okay with that.  I started with the stamp set and saw the negative of the Stitched Nested Labels Dies from the challenge card the other day.  That gave me the idea for sponging that I have not done in some time.

I used Pool Party and Balmy Blue for my background sponging but they did not show up very well.  I wanted light, but this was too light.  So I decided to give it a border.  I first used the Journaling Pens on page 170 of the Annual Catalog.  With the negative still in place, I just drew around the inside.  I was a bit off, the negative slipped, but that is okay as well.

The journaling pens gave the look I wanted, but it still needed something.  I decided this leaf would work perfectly.  Sort of like the old pictures you see draped in pine boughs.

I hope this gives you some ideas for all of the negatives I am sure you have from using your die shapes.  Thank you for stopping in today.  Merry Christmas Eve!!

Merry Moose

Today’s card is a winter card as much as for Christmas.  I love mixing the stamps and designer series paper to make cards that are for more than a season.   This one works as a masculine card as well.

Who doesn’t love a Moose with a scarf?  LOL!!  I wanted to give him a softer look and decided I did not want to fussy cut the scarf in the stamp set.  I adore the Braided Linen Thread and thought the extra piece as a scarf worked.

The trees are from the Merry Moose Bundle as well.  I stamped them once full strength and then again before re-inking to get the different shades of green.  The one on the far left is stamped a third time without re-inking.

Thank you for stopping by today!  I have a cute Halloween card to share tomorrow for Trick or Treat day!

Snowman

This is my second card from this cute as a button Snowman Season stamp set.  I clicked the “I want it all” button on this group of products!

Even with a bit of coloring using the Stampin’ Blends, this is a quick card to make.  My favorite sort of project.  With the limited coloring, this would be a perfect card to make multiples of!

You may not be able to see it very well in the picture.  But I used the Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blend on the ground at his feet.  I think that it works great to reflect the snow with just a couple of strokes.  The hat and scarf are colored with Real Red and Bermuda Bay.  TIP:  I find that when coloring small spaces like this that using the small tip on the Blends works best for me.  That tip is actually larger than the tip of the painting end, but because it is firm I do not run out of the lines of the small space as much.

The Designer Series Paper is from the Let It Snow DSP.  The opposite side has the raised and sparkles area.  But you know I love the flip sides!  The coordinating colors are Real Red and Coastal Cabana.  I chose to go a tad darker and used Bermuda Bay on this one.

The Real Red Curly Ribbon is such a great added element.  It is a little thicker though.  You almost have to raise your focal point with Stampin’ Dimensionals to keep it smooth.  My knot is just a little piece cut off and tied around the main piece.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you will return for tomorrow’s InKing Royalty Blog Hop.

Cup of Winter

I am still playing with products from the Holiday Catalog.  I think the catalogs get better with each new one!  Although it is still record breaking heat here in the south, I am enjoying the holiday stamp sets.  I can pretend it is at least Fall.  HaHa!!!  Mother Nature apparently has other ideas for us.

Hopefully this card will make you think of a nice winter day.

Stampin' Up!, Christmas Gleaming, Cup of Christmas, Toile Tidings, Jackie Beers

Your vision may not be quite the same as mine.  I see this as a cup of warmth and looking out the window at a Christmas scene.  I used the Stitched Rectangles Dies to give the window with the Toile Tidings DSP as the outside view.

I combined a couple of stamp sets in the making of this project.  The ornaments are from the Christmas Gleaming Bundle.  I stamped on Very Vanilla with Garden Green ink and then used the Christmas Gleaming punches to punch them out.  I added Mossy Meadow Baker’s Twine from the Magnolia Ribbon Pack to “hang them” from the top of the window.

The mug is from the Cup of Christmas Bundle.  I used the matching dies to cut the mug from another piece of the Toile Tidings DSP.  The sentiment is in the Cup of Christmas Bundle and I simply trimmed it to fit the mug.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you will return tomorrow and on Wednesday is the InKing Royalty Blog Hop as well.  We are half way through September, which means we are also halfway through the DSP sale.  Take a look at the flyer below for a list of the DSP included in the Buy 3, Get 1 Free sale.

Let It Snow

It is no where near ready to snow here in Georgia!  Sadly we are still in the 90s here.  But…..having received my pre-order of the Let It Snow Designer Series Paper and the Snowman Season stamp set, I could not wait to give it a try.  I am pretending it is cool weather.

Stampin' Up!, Snowman Season, Let It Snow, Jackie Beers

I really do like the different colors in this pack of DSP.  There is Real Red and Shaded Spruce in it.  But there are also Coastal Cabana and Flirty Flamingo as well.  I love these.  This sheet of paper is a perfect balance for me.

The snowman looks like he is having a blast playing in the snow.  I colored him with the Stampin’ Blends in Light colors.  I added the Real Red for the sentiment and then thought it needed “something”.  So I used the Splatter technique with the Stampin’ Write Marker to Flick color onto the white layer.  That made me happy!

Thank you for coming by today.  I hope you will return again on Monday for more new projects.
