Spotlight On Nature

Before I get to this card I have a confession to make.  This is the card that should have posted yesterday!!  I was running around all day and never checked to see if it posted.  By the time I realized it had not, it was too late to really share.  So it has become today’s card.  Apparently I was a day off when I entered the date I wanted it to post!  DUH!!!

Today’s card is a mix of upcoming products in the next Annual Catalog. The papers and stamp set are all new products.

Stampin' Up!, spotlight on nature, sweetly scripted, shy shamrock, 2024-2026 In Color, jackie beers

Stamps

The gorgeous flowers are from the Spotlight On Nature stamp set.  It is a bundle in the upcoming Annual Catalog.  The bundle includes a mix of Layering Circle Dies that each have different edging.  It is a bundle you will be interested in for sure!  I used all new colors for this.  Since the stamp is red rubber I used the 2024-2026 Stampin’ Write Markers.  These can be purchased together and are a great product to have on hand.  The colors I used are Petunia Pop for the darker coloring in the flower with Pretty In Pink for the lighter. And the leaves/stem are Shy Shamrock for the darker with Summer Splash as the lighter.

The sentiment is from an Online Exclusive stamp set.  It is the Sweetly Scripted.  The set is all sentiments with the long tails at the beginning and end.  They will go the length of a card almost wether landscape or portrait positioning.  I love them!!  This one I needed to be rather short. The best way to show off everything was to fussy cut around it.  These fonts are my favorite for beautiful and stand out type sentiments.

Papers

The papers on this card are all of the new In Colors as well.  The card base is Shy Shamrock.  This is a great green with a little brightness to it.  I chose it for the leaves and stem color.  And the DSP is from the 2024-2026 In Color Designer Series Paper 6×6 pack.  I used Pretty In Pink in the stripe and Petunia Pop in the floral.  The two prints are the front and back of these papers.  Although the back of the Petunia Pop would be striped Petunia Pop.

Finishes

To tie together the colors, I added a simple ribbon in the Summer Splash Ribbon.  It is wrapped around and then a small knot tied to the left side.  The position was to allow the sentiment to fit in.  And to finish off the card I added some subtle Pearls.  There are several scattered around.

Thanks for Everything

I have another retiring set today.  This one is the Color & Contour stamp set.  Even though I did not use them, the matching Scallops & Contour Dies are retiring as well.  Without intending too, I used quite a few of the Retiring Items.

Stampin' Up!, Color & Contour, Bright and Beautiful, Decorative Circle, Vellum, jackie beers

Stamps

The Color & Contour stamp set is another one that is a single set card.  The flowers are fun and the sentiments are great.  It includes this flower as well as a daisy.  Both are outlines with a filler for the color.  I stamped this lovely flower with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then filled it with Berry Burst Ink.  The sentiment is from the stamp set as well.  The font for this one is so elegant looking.  I wish I could write like that!

Papers

The bright papers used are all Berry Burst in one form or another.  The card base is Berry Burst with lighter versions in the DSP.  The polka dot and the variegated pieces are both from the Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper.  This is the 6X6 paper that goes with the Beautiful Balloons stamp set.  All of these items are on the Retiring List.

There is a little bit extra with the Basic White sentiment layer.  I punched a piece of Vellum card stock using the Decorative Circle Punch.  Sadly both of these items are on the Retiring List. I believe the Vellum is already sold out.  The only good thing there is that it can be purchased from other paper companies and is not unique to SU.

Extras

There is not a fill for the leaves on the flower.  So I decided to leave them as is.  But to add the green color, I used the Parakeet Party Metallic Ribbon.  You know I use these In Color Ribbons quite often.  These colors of ribbon all retiring are ones I will truly miss.  To go along with the ribbon, I added a few of the 2022-2024 In Color Pearls.  There are two of the Parakeet Party ones around the leaves and one of the Sweet Sorbet (even though it matches the Berry Burst very well) on the sentiment layer.

Mixed Notes

I really hate to see the Notes of Nature retiring.  So here is a little mix of it and other retiring color products.   It is a blue day in nature.

Stampin' Up!, Notes of Nature, Nature's sweetness, jackie beers

Bundle

The Notes of Nature Bundle is great for “layering” type cards as well as distressed looking ones.  The stamp set has several background type stamps.  I have used three of those to create the background on this card.  And the sentiment is from the set as well.  This is a great sentiment in the wording as well as the mix of fonts. Two of the background images are stamped using Boho Blue Ink.  The splatter stamp is inked with Starry Sky ink and is stamped and then stamped a second and third time without re-inking to give the different shades of blue.  And the sentiment is Starry Sky on Boho Blue card stock.

The Notes of Nature Dies not only cut some of the stamped images, but also have two large dies to create borders or strips.  I chose to use the notebook looking strip to add a layer to the sentiment.  The holes leave no doubt that it is a torn notebook.  For the floral cuttings, I stamped with Starry Sky Ink onto Pebbled Path card stock.

Papers

To make a card without DSP is not common for me, but today I have done that.  This “blue” card is all card stock.  The card base is Starry Sky with a layer of Boho Blue.  The only different colors are the Pebbled Path for the die cut floral and then the die cut notebook piece  That drafting paper look is a piece from the Nature’s Sweetness Designer Series Paper.  The fronts of this pack of paper has gold splatter or lettering on them and the backs are more plain.  This was a perfect match for the Pebbled Path images.

Finishes

The finishes today are different than what I usually list as my finishes.  There is no bling!  Shocking I know.  But the ribbon used is the Starry Sky Woven Metallic Ribbon.  As I have said many times, this is my favorite ribbon.  It has some shimmer and the colors work with so many colors other than what they are supposed to match.  Plus the sentiment layers are a bit different with the added layer of the notebook piece.

Thanks for stopping in today!!

Sweetness

My card for today is a mix of stamping and paper cutting.  The easy kind of paper cutting.  It is a great image cut from the DSP.  The gorgeous Natures Sweetness DSP.

Stampin' Up!, Natures Sweetness, Deckled Circles, layering leaves, notes of nature, jackie beers

Papers

This card is more Paper than stamping so I am beginning here.  The image is cut from the Natures Sweetness Designer Series paper.  I fussy cut it to get around the flower.  The darkness of the circle was there, but I colored the rest of the flower with Stampin’ Blends.  I even googled it from the wording on the stamp set.  It is a bloom on a tree that can be a variety of things.  The name sounded like a prune, but the blossom is an almond!

The background paper is also from the Natures Sweetness Designer Series paper.  This is another of the non-gold sheets, in other words, the back of a gold sheet.  I love the splattered and faded look.  So I paired it with the color I used for the center of the flower, Sweet Sorbet.  And that was based on the picture I found.

Stamps

The front sentiment is from the Layering Leaves stamp set.  This font is wonderful and really holds it’s own on a card.  On the inside I used a sentiment from the Notes of Nature stamp set.  A pairing to the paper.  The front sentiment is cut using the 2″ Circle Punch.

Dies

To give a backing to the flower, I added a circle from the Deckled Circles Dies.  These are carrying over and will be an Online Exclusive once the Mini retires.  I used the 7th largest.  There are a lot of dies in the set!!  The rough edges are perfect for this layer as the floral layer is not smooth either.

Finishes

To add more color to the card, and to ground the sentiment a bit, I added a length of the Sweet Sorbet and White ribbon.   A simple knot is a great way to add just a touch of an item.  And to complete the card my bling is the 2022-2024 In Color Pearls.  The Sweet Sorbet ones are a little darker and that is fine.  It helps them pop a little better.

Inked and Layered

I am using one of my most used sets that is retiring .  It is the Inked and Tiled set.  I love the flower as a stand alone one.  Today I have layered it with the matching Inked Botanicals DSP.

Stampin' Up!, Inked and tiled, inked botanicals, lighter than air, excellent eggs, jackie beers

Stamps

All of the images used are from the Inked & Tiled stamp set.  I love this large flower because it can stand alone and make a quick card.  The distressed look is also part of why I love it.  And I am definitely going to miss it.  So it had to get one last inking.  All of the stamps on the card are from this set.  Another reason it is a favorite.

The flower was inked with Stampin’ Write Markers in Crushed Curry and Pretty Peacock.  For the small flower buds, I did the same thing.  And the small one is also stamped on the inside of the card.  The background leaves is one stamp that is inked with Pretty Peacock as well.  Both of the stamped images are fussy cut.  The partner to this set is a punch bundle.  And they are retiring as well.

Papers

There is quite a mix of papers on this card.  I wanted to use several of the Inked Botanicals Designer Series paper and I love how perfectly they mix.  The dotted background layer, the checked and the darker green floral are all from the DSP pack.  But the flower pot is actually from Lighter Than Air Designer Series Paper.  That pack happened to be on my desk as I was looking for a lighter color for the pot.  It seemed to fit perfectly.

Extras

The most unusual item on this card is the flower pot.  It is actually the smaller of the solid egg from the Excellent Eggs Dies.  I had die cut one and not used it.  It also was on my desk and I realized by cutting off the upper third that it would make a perfect flower pot.  So I cut the DSP I had chosen and voila, Flower pot!

There are several finishing touches to this card.  The sentiment is stamped and then punched using the 1 1/2″ Circle Punch.  I added some adhesive to the back of the circle and then looped Linen Thread around to give some natural texture to the card.  And finally comes the bling!  These are the Petal Pink and Pretty Peacock Gems.  Only the Pretty Peacock ones were used.  They are scattered around to give some added textures.
