Tulips Tiles

Instead of a Fun Fold I have a bit of layering to share with you. Using the Tulip Fields and Flowering Fields was such fun.

Stampin' Up!, Tulip Fields, Flowering Fields, Label Me Lovely, Parisian Flourish, Jackie Beers

Paper

I believe this gorgeous Tulip paper, the Flowering Fields Designer Series Paper, is the star of this card.  It is simply rows of beautiful color.  Of course all of the other papers were chosen from this DSP piece.  The card base is Highland Heather, with the embossed layer behind the flowers being Pear Pizzaz.  To help the flowers pop a bit more I went with Rich Razzleberry for the trio of layers.  And to finish the layering I chose a piece of Highland Heather to serve as background for the windmill.  Paper that contains a variety of colors is so wonderful to work with!

Stamps and Dies

Matching the Tulip DSP is the Tulip Fields Bundle.  This great bundle would work even without the paper.  But is awesome together with it.  I only stamped the windmill for the front of the card to allow the paper to star.  The windmill is stamped using Soft Suede and then simply highlighted with Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends.  And it is die cut using the matching die.  This is a quick card to make.

Punches and Embossing

To create the fun Pear Pizzaz layer, as well as the Highland Heather layer, I used the Parisian Flourish Embossing Folder.  And to speed things up, I punched the Highland Heather layer behind the windmill early on.  When it came to using the embossing folder, I simply tucked the punched piece into the center on top of the Pear Pizzaz cardstock.  Both embossed perfectly and it only took one time through the machine!

Measurments

The layers on the front of the card using the DSP can be arranged in your preference of order.  I debated between having them even across the top and bottom. Or to be staggered as I ended up doing.  And the center panel is raised where the outside two are adhered directly to the card.

To make the layers easy to do, I cut a piece of the DSP to 3 1/2 X 4 1/2.  It is then cut at 1, 1 1/2, and 1.  By doing this way, the panels of flowers are still in the pattern.  It would not matter if your DSP was simpler.  The layers behind the panels are two at 1 1/8 X 4 5/8 and one at 1 5/8 X 4 5/8.

Horizon View

The New Horizons DSP and the On The Horizons Bundle are simply beautiful.  Today’s card uses both of these wonderful products.

Stampin' Up!, On The Horizon, New Horizon, Tasteful Textile, Pebbles Enamel Shapes, Misty Moonlight, Jackie Beers

Stamps Bundle

To have been somewhat Ho Hum regarding the On The Horizon Bundle in the beginning, I am a Top Fan now.  Of course the paper helps, and we will get to that in a minute.  All of the stamping, die cutting, and embellishments on today’s card are from the Bundle, with the exception of the ribbon.

The sweet sentiment is perfect for someone who loves the beach.  And that is what I was going for with this card.  The layer of grass beneath the sentiment is stamped and then partially covered by the die cut (from the bundle) section of DSP.  But the bottom sections of grass are die cut from the green side of the DSP.  Plus they are only adhered at the base so they appear to be floating free.

Paper

One of the Many Things I love about the New Horizons Designer Series Paper is that it has such great colors in it.  The Misty Moonlight is my favorite of course.  But pairing it with the Blackberry Bliss is amazing!  The die cut DSP was to highlight the Blackberry Bliss / Rich Razzleberry section.  And the fencing is die cut from a small piece of wood look from the In Good Taste DSP.  I angled the layer of DSP to show a bit more of the beautiful colors it has.

Embellishments

The first embellishment is not really an embellishment.  I used the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder after stamping the images onto the focal layer.  It gives the appearance of canvas to me.  And before layering the die cut area, I looped some of the Misty Moonlight Ribbon from the Cotton Ribbon Combo to tie in with the card base.  Then the final touch was the little pebbles.  These Pebbles Enamel Shapes are so cute and perfect for beach or scenery cards.  Plus they are in a couple of different shapes and tints.  I just love them!

Blessing of Home Fun Fold

My card for today has one carryover and one retiring item.  My project is a fun fold that I have shown previously.  This one uses Blessing of Home and the beautiful Pansy Petals Designer Series Paper.

Stampin' Up!, Blessings of Home, Pansy Petals DSP, Champagne Rhinestones, Jackie Beers

The front of the card is pretty, maybe a little elegant, but not a show stopper.  However when you open it you get to see the Fun Fold.

Stamps

Yipee! that the Blessings of Home is carrying over to the upcoming Annual Catalog.  This is such a pretty stamp set.  And as you can see from the second photo, not only do you get the gorgeous flower but a great sentiment as well.  The sentiment is so sweet and would work for a couple of different occasions.  Hopefully you noticed the flower on the bottom of the right hand fold.  I simply stamped the larger flower with only the top section covering the paper.  It makes a cute and easy to do addition.

Paper

Speaking of the gorgeous flower, it is hard for me to explain other than I only see it as I have used it.  And that is Softly colored.  I cannot envision that flower boldly colored.  So with that in mind, I looked for softer paper to pair with it.  The Pansy Petals Designer Series Paper came to the rescue.  On the inside of the card you can see the pastel background with softer pansies spread around.  To pair with that piece, I went with the bolder, but still soft, striped piece on the front.  And of course the card base came from that piece as well.

Directions

This fun fold was posted a few weeks ago.  You can see this card by clicking HERE.  One of my reasons for using this flower is to show how well different shapes work with this technique.  The only consideration is that your die cut have a bit of width to it.  As you can see from the open view, the die cut is only adhered to the inside folded section on half.  So it needs to have a bit to glue down so it is secure.

Reminder

There are only today and tomorrow to take advantage of the Savings Are In Bloom promotion.  I have a photo just below.  By clicking on it, you will see all of the stamp sets that are at 20% discount.  And don’t forget about the Mini Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine.  That is an awesome deal!

Horizon Sympathy card

Probably my most favorite paper of all time is the New Horizon Designer Series paper in the Mini Catalog.  Fingers crossed that Stampin’ Up! creates a similar paper in the future.  In the meantime, I have used this gorgeous paper as a background for a sympathy card.

Stampin' Up!, New Horizon, On the horizon, Pebbles Enamel Shapes, In Good Taste, Jackie Beers

Paper and Colors

I mentioned the gorgeous On The Horizon Designer Series Paper above.  This is a “quiet” scene from one of the pieces.  My friend the card is for lives on a cattle ranch.  So I thought a bit of early morning mist would work well.  Of course, all of the other colors are pulled from the paper.

And to add the cute fence, I went with a wood grain paper.  It is from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper.  Only a scrap is all it took to cut to the fence.  I also added a piece of the 2021-2023 In Color Shimmer Vellum as a layer.  This is such pretty paper and you can even see the shimmer in the photo.

Stamps +

The stamp set used is the On The Horizon stamp set.  It is a great Bundle that sadly did not carry over.  Included in the Die set is the fence I used on the card.  Actually there are two pieces of fence in the dies.  The   grass at the bottom of the card is from the stamp set.  The sentiment is from the Bamboo Beauty stamp set.

To add some extra texture and look of nature, I added the Pebbles Enamel Shapes.  I believe they look very real next to the fence and grass.  To angle the layers was, in my way of thinking, a method for showcasing each layer a bit more than is usual.

Stencil Daisies

I hope you have had a chance, or several, to go through the Last Chance list.  It is sad to say goodbye but we must do that to get new products.  Today’s card includes a retiring item from the Mini Catalog.  They are the Butterflies and Flowers Layering Decorative Masks.  I used the Blending Brushes and created a little bouquet.

Stampin' Up, Butterflies & Flowers Masks, Blending Brushes, Artfully Composed, Daisy Lane, Daisy Punch, Jackie Beers

The stenciling is out of my normal wheelhouse.  But it is for a challenge on the Make My Monday Blog.  I hope you will join the challenge and give stenciling a try.  You can click on the link and be taken to the site.

Stencil, Stamp, Punch

As I said, I used the Butterflies & Flowers Layering Decorative Masks to create the bouquet you see.  It took quite a few colors, and a learning curve!  But trying new things is a good thing.  Creating this was definitely out of the norm for me and was quite fun.  All of the colors will be listed in the Supply List.

To finish the bouquet, I stamped and punched one daisy from the Daisy Lane Stamp set.  Since it was a red rubber / Cling stamp, I could color the daisy with Stampin’ Write Markers directly to the rubber.  Those colors were Calypso Coral and Pale Papaya.  Sadly, individual markers are not available, with the exception of the Basic Black.  But if you like coloring the rubber stamps they are a great tool to have.

Paper

The beautiful paper you see is from the Artfully Composed Designer Series Paper.  The peach piece is the opposite side of the leaves and floral of the background layer.  And of course this is where my color choices for the stenciled bouquet came from.  Even though Soft Succulent is the color I used for stenciling and the ribbon, Just Jade really pops from the greenery you see of the layer.  So that was the choice for the card base.

Finishes

Continuing the colors and being still in my out of the norm mode, I placed the Soft Succulent Shimmer Ribbon behind the raised bouquet layer.  Then the Pale Papaya Open Weave Ribbon is placed on top of the bouquet.  By adding the punched daisy it gave a bit more dimension to the bouquet.  And as a finishing touch, I went a bit overboard with the Genial Gems!  I added both the green tone and the peach tone.  The green is around the edges with the stenciled greenery while the peach tone is added as a flower center.

Swirls and Flowers

The Sentimental Swirls stamp set may be one that you have overlooked in the Mini Catalog.  After seeing it demonstrated prior to the catalog debut, I was hooked on it.  The various elements that it contains can be used in so many ways.  And it makes a quick and adorable card.

Stampin' Up!, Sentimental Swirls, Hello Beautiful, Everyday Label Punch, Flowers & Leaves Punch, Layering Circles, Abstract Beauty DSP, Brushed Brass Butterflies, Jackie Beers

Stamps

There are two stamp sets used on this sweet card.  The first and most used is the Sentimental Swirls that I mentioned at the beginning.  As you can see, the swirl is beautiful.  And there are different size flowers, with both the outline and the fill.  I used the outline for the larger ones and colored using the Stampin’ Blends, and then punched out.  The smaller one is a “fill” shape and is stamped directly onto the cardstock.

For the sentiment, I went to a separate stamp set.  This great sentiment is from the Hello Beautiful set.  I truly love the sentiment and the mix of fonts.  The inside of the card has several of the smaller flowers stamped as well as a Happy Birthday from the Sentimental Swirls set.

Punches and Dies

Regarding the sweet flowers mentioned above, I discovered the larger one fits perfectly in the Flowers & Leaves Punch.  It contains two different size flowers and this is the smaller of the ones on the punch. For the centers of the flowers, I used the darkest blue of the Rhinestone Waves in the Waves of the Ocean Bundle. (See the specials at the bottom of the post!)

The arrangement of the sentiment was a result of wanting to utilize the beautiful Misty Moonlight piece of DSP from the Abstract Beauty Designer Series Paper.  I love the flecks of gold!  So the hunt was on for layering pieces that would not totally cover that DSP.  The Everyday Label Punch came to the rescue for the DSP piece.  It is large enough without being too big.  Then I discovered that one of the Layering Circles dies will fit perfectly and leave enough of the great paper showing.

To ground the sentiment, I went with a small strip of the Fresh Freesia paper.  Between the flecks of gold in the DSP and the blue rhinestones, you would think I had enough of the bling going.  But no…. I had to add one of my current favorite bling items, the Brushed Brass Butterflies.  That was the finishing touch the card needed.
