Golden Peony

I am still working on going through my stamps and marking the ones moving over to the Last Chance List. One that I use for a quick card is the one I have to share today. The Poised Peony looks great as simple or stepped up. And I have stepped it up just a bit for you.

Stampin' Up!, poised peony, regal distressed, gold textured dots, petunia pop, everyday arches, bubble bath, jackie beers

STAMPS

The stamps I used are from the Poised Peony stamp set. Peonies are probably my most favorite flower. They remind me of my Mom and my grandmother. Sadly the deer like them as well. They have eaten all of mine. But this is one that I can look at anytime of year.

The image is stamped using Basic Gray Ink. I have found this gives lighter outline and softens with the Stampin’ Blends over it. The Stampin’ Blends are Bubble Bath and then Petunia Pop for the tips. The leaves are Old Olive. I did have to fussy cut the flower. But it was well worth the trouble I believe.

This card could be for any occasion with the simple Hello sentiment on the front. That is included in the set as well. Except this is actually a birthday card and I failed to photograph the inside. I added the medium size peony on the inside. There are actually three different sizes of this gorgeous flower iincluded.

PAPERS

The decision on the flower colors also decided the card base and layer colors. Then I ran across this Regal Distressed Patterns Specialty Designer Series Paper. I believe it came out as a special during the holidays. However the three different sheets are not holiday prints. So I felt like making my birthday peony special. Actually the gold netting look is similar to what I tried to protect my peony bush with to keep the deer from eating it.

EXTRAS

There are a couple of Extras today. First is the Everyday Arches Dies. Sadly they are currently unavailable but are coming back. I used the smallest of these dies for this sentiment frame. Because it was larger than needed for the word, I added a ribbon knot onto the one end. This is Petunia Pop to match the card base. And to complete the card with bling, I used a scattering of Gold Textured Dots around the card. Both the stamp set and the Gold Dots are still available on the Last Chance List with a little bit of a discount.

Adventurous Matchbook Card

Yesterday I mentioned I was using some of the wonderful products from the Last Chance List that are still available. My Fun Fold card for today uses the Adventurous Sky Bundle. I love Fun Folds and this one is a great Pop Up type. Plus the card layout will work with any stamp set.

Stampin' Up!, adventurous sky, cheerful daisies, take to the sky, in color jute, flat pearls, jackie beers

Stampin' Up!, Adventurous Sky, Jackie Beers

STAMPS & DIES

This fun stamp set is the Adventurous Sky. The stamp set is gone from the Last Chance list since I checked, but the Dies are still available and the DSP as well. The front sentiment, which I love, is from the stamp set. And is die cut using a Die from the Cheerful Daisies Die set. These Dies are on the Last Chance List as well, but still available. The stitching and the edge trim are so cute.

The inside airplane is stamped and then colored using Stampin’ Blends. I Die cut it with the matching Die set. (The Dies cut several of the planes from the DSP also.) And the inside sentiment is from the set.

PAPERS

The card colors all come from the DSP. It is the Take To The Sky Designer Series Paper. And it is not retiring , but is currently on Low Inventory. I decided the card base should be Night of Navy to match the large DSP sheet on the front. A layer of Basic White helps that piece to pop . The angled plane piece on front is one of the sheets also. There is one sheet that has six or eight tag size designs. This is one of those. And the copper DSP strip is to help match the plane.

The inside is a piece of Basic White with a simple method cut from the folded center that pops out to hold the plane and sky. That little strip I added of sky is also from the DSP.

EXTRAS

There are two Extras today. The Jute Twine around the top adds some texture to a simple area of the card. It is from the 2023-2025 InColor Jute Trim. This is the Boho Blue twine. Since those colors are retiring, it is on the Last Chance List as well. And the bling for today is very simple. I placed a single bling from the 2025-2027 In Color Flat Pearls on the sentiment.

MEASUREMENTS

This layout is one I see myself repeating quite often. Any stamped image that will look good popped up on the inside will work. Or with the simple matchbook design, it can be more of a plain card without a pop up. I cased this card from Sunny Day Stampin’.

The card base measures 9 3/4 X 3 3/4 scored at 5 1/4. The taller half is the back of the card. Then the top section measures 4 1/4 X 2 1/2 and is scored at 1 1/4. The taller half of the base fits, centered, into the folded center of this piece to create the matchbook.

For the inside piece, Basic White is cut to measure 3 3/4 X 9 3/4 and is scored at 5. Again the taller section is the back. Now fold this and place the fold on your paper trimmer. cut a 3/4 ” slit through the folded card stock, making sure it cuts through both pieces, at 1 1/2 and 2. This pushes out and becomes the pop up holder.

The DSP layers for my card are 3 1/2 X 4 1/4 for the blue and white large front piece. Then 1 X 4 for the matchbook top. And the DSP with the plane on the front is 1 1/4 X 2 1/2.

Love of Books

My card today is one that works for male or female readers. I read every day and have friends who do as well. This was made for a man, but the colors will work for anyone. I really love the For The Books Bundle.

Stampin' Up!, for the books, forever plaid, mini alphabet die, timeless plaid, shimmer gems, jackie beers

STAMPS & DIES

The stamping and images are all from the fabulous For The Books Bundle. Since I am a constant reader, this was a first choice from the Mini Catalog. I had hoped it would carry over, but sadly it is on the Last Chance List. They are still available as a bundle, or individually, but the best price is still as a bundle on this one.

The book was Die cut from Calypso Coral and is raised using Stampin’ Dimensionals. For the sentiment I needed a particular size. And any Die or Punch I pulled was too large for the location. So I did a simple fussy cutting and left as that. It tucked under the book just a bit and seems fine.

To add a little personalization to the book, and the card, I added an initial. This pretty “W” is made using the Mini Alphabet Die. This is a single Die that makes the entire alphabet in one cut. I have cut it a couple of times using Basic White cardstock, and again in a couple of colors. They are sitting in a little tub next to my desk for quick personalizations. This Die was added as a second part to this year’s Sale-A-Bration. That was a fabulous deal. But it is back in stock, and actually is carrying over. I think it is a perfect size of alphabet.

PAPERS

There are a mix of papers here as usual, but they are a bit different. The colors were all pulled from the DSP. It is the Timeless Plaid Designer Series Paper. And it is carrying over as well. Woohoo!! This is a great paper for all occasions. And as a 6X6, it is a good one for 3D items since you do not have to really be concerned with directional patterns.

The card base is Old Olive cardstock and then a lighter green for the embossed layer. This layer is the two tone cardstock. I had not tried it before but we were given two sheets at Convention for one of our projects there. This one is Granny Apple Green. It may be a little difficult to see the dark / light in the photo. I have the lighter side up and then the darker you can see where I have folded over the corners. You may also be able to see that it has a White core from the embossing and bending that I did. It is definitely different from our usual cadstock.

EXTRAS

There are three Extras today. First is the fabulous Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder used on the two tone layer. This folder gives such wonderful detail. And is really nice with this paper as I mentioned you can see places of a little of the white core.

Next is the Linen Thread. I wanted yet more texture for the card. Adding a double strand of the Linen Thread around the embossed layer added just what I had in mind. And the final Extra is of course the bling. I have used the 2024-2026 In Color Shimmer Gems. These are the Peach Pie color which still works as a light tannish color to go with the Calypso Coral.

Miss Your Face

This fun title is actually a stamp. The first time I saw it I laughed out loud, and still do when I see it. And that is what I think our cards should do. Maybe not laugh out loud, but bring a smile or happiness to someone. Plus the way I have used it today is another “almost” no stamping card.

Stampin' Up!, saying hey, storybook moments, antique pearls, flirty flamingo, basic beige, jackie beers

STAMPS

This fun sentiment is from the Saying Hey stamp set. Sadly it is on the Last Chance list. But if you do not have it, then it is not sad. It is currently marked down to $15.30. That is a steal for some fun and unusual sentiments. I thought this sentiment was perfect for the frame and the adorable little mouse. (They are only adorable when not real!!!) It is stamped on Basic Beige cardstock to go along with the other softer and antique looking colors. Then I just fussy cut it to keep it small and to fit on the frame.

PAPERS

These papers are once again from the Storybook Moments Designer Series Paper and sticker pack. The Wild Wheat background so reminds me of old timey wallpaper! Then the frame is from one of the sheets that has multiple different tags and small size images. As soon as I saw it, I went to the sticker page to see what would work inside the frame. Most of these stickers are the storybook animals. But this mouse seemed just right.. She is raised using Stampin’ Dimensionals to help her stand out from the frame

The card base color is pulled from the frame. I chose Flirty Flamingo. Then decided it required a layer between the wallpaper. Basic Beige seemed to go along with the antique as I said regarding the sentiment. So a thin layer breaks up those two darker colors.

EXTRAS

To add bling to this scene I have created was a little difficult. I went through all of my embellishments and most seemed to blend in more than stand out. When I came to the Antique Pearls, they were on my desk and not in the container, I knew these were the bling. They also fit with the antique look. I decided that a trio of them across the top of the frame would be the perfect location.

You Are Magical

I went a bit psychedelic on today’s card. Mixing and matching products is such a fun thing to do, and I did that here. I have mixed the Full of Life DSP with a stamp that suits it perfectly.

Stampin' Up!, terrific toadstools, full of life, pearls, blueberry bushel, peach pie, jackie beers

STAMPS & PUNCH

The Terrific Toadstools Bundle is one I did not originally have on my list. As usual, all it took was a few gorgeous cards made with it and I “Toad-ally” changed my mind! LOL!! I have made several cards using this set and it is so easy to create a cute card with minimal work.

The small mushrooms/toadstools are stamped with Pumpkin Pie Ink and the large one is Berry Burst. The stems are all Early espresso. Having a Punch to cut these is fabulous and definitely speeds up the process. With this wild background, I needed to ground the mushrooms. The “ground” is Pecan PIe and is actually a stamp in the set. It makes this little scene perfect.

To create the sentiment was the most difficult part of the card. I could not decide what to do. The sentiment was chosen quickly as it too matched the paper theme. After stamping it and trying to decide on a Die or Punch for shape, I decided simply to flag it and let it really stand out.

PAPERS

This fabulous paper is from the Full Of Life Designer Series Paper. I happened to be looking at the paper and saw this piece. It seemed it just jumped out at me and I immediately thought psychedelic. And this led me to the mushrooms.

To compliment the wild paper, I chose the fabulous Blueberry Bushel as the card base. Plus the sentiment stamped in Blueberry Bushes helps it to pop as well. For the layer I went with a softer color of Peach Pie. It still is a dominant color and I really like the two together.

EXTRAS

This card is a really bright one and did not require a lot of Extras. As I said, instead of a punch or Die for the sentiment I used my Paper Snips and flagged the one end. For the Bling, I went with a trio of Iridescent Pearls scattered around. They add a touch more White and sort of mimic the white in the “ground” piece.

STAMPIN’ REWARDS

The new Stampin’ Rewards begins on April 15. All you have to do is on your first order after that is agree to participate. You will then receive rewards on every order over 20.00 in product. Bouquet For You

I have been pulling, or at least marking, items that are now on the Last Chance List. One that I found to play with is the Storybook Moments Designer Series Paper. I never really used this paper. But of course now I have wondered why not!

Stampin' Up!, storybook moments, distressed tile, linen thread, pearls, misty moonlight, mossy meadow, jackie beers

STAMPS

This simple card actually has no stamping on the front. I love making this type to have on hand. It is nice when you need a quick Thank You. And I could easily add a simple strip sentiment without ruining the front.

PAPERS

The papers are definitely the stars of this card. The DSP you see is one of the “tag” looking pieces from Storybook Moments Designer Series Paper. There is a sheet that has quite a few different patterns in a similar size to this one. So all I had to do was cut that sheet apart and I have fronts for about 10 cards! This one I cut down just a little bit.

Another great part of this paper package is some sticker sheets. They are not sticky, but are pre punched so they are easy to push out. When I saw this little bouquet, I knew it was perfect for the DSP I had chosen. All I needed was to choose a color for the card base. Misty Moonlight was that choice as it is the darker section of the flowers. Then I thought it needed some texture. That came with the Mossy Meadow layer which is the color of the leaves.

EXTRAS

The texture Extra is from the Distressed Tile Embossing Folder. This folder is so fabulous. The detail is amazing and it works with almost any kind of focal layer. You can see that in my photo against all of the flowers.

To complete the card I added a pearl to the open space above the bouquet. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to raise the bouquet. And added a bow of Linen Thread around the stems. The Linen Thread seemed to fit for a simple bouquet and it adds a touch more texture.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope you enjoyed today’s project and will come back.  I do read and reply to all of the comments individually.  They mean a lot to me.  Please reach out if you have a question.
