A friend reached out asking if I happened to have a retirement card on hand. I did not, but told her I could make one pretty quickly. This was after she told me the recipients favorite hobby. Stampin’ Up!’s Designer Series Paper was where I immediately went to make this card.

Papers

As we all know, Stampin’ Up! has the best DSP and especially when it is a theme. I really do not know many fishermen, but purchased the DSP knowing I could/would use it. Now it is the star of today’s card. These two pieces of DSP are from the Waterside Retreat Designer Series Paper. Two of the sheets have post card like scenes that you cut apart. I chose to use this one and all it required was a bit of trim to be the size I wanted.

The plaid is the reverse side of another sheet. I believe it was the one with seagulls flying around. I thought it a perfect match for a masculine card but also to the water scene. Actually there was a tiny bit of a third sheet used. The little buoy, or whatever it is, that is attached to the sentiment was snipped from that third sheet.

To match the plaid colors I opted for Peaceful Pine as the card base. It also serves as the layer for the scene and accompanies Basic Beige for the sentiment layers. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to raise the boat layers as I did on yesterday’s card. Such a simple step really elevates the card. LOL! No pun intended.

Stamps

The stamp set used is the Banner Sayings stamp set. It is all small sentiments that are workable for almost any occasion. I did not have a retirement stamp, but thought this for the front, along with a congratulations on the inside, would be fine. And in place of Bling, I used the little buoy hanging off of the sentiment as something to attract the eye. This was so quick and easy, once I got my paper decisions made, and my friend loved it. Having a variety of DSP, especially ones that can really create a beautiful and quick card, are one of the things Stampin’ Up! does best.
