I have a sweet and whimsical card to share with you today. My favoritism to the Stampin’ Up! animal stamps is well known. This is another of those. On the plus side, it is quick and easy to create with minimal products used. This would be a good card for a swap. I like to do it in stages and could see watching TV while coloring a little on each of the cards. Hint, Hint!

Stamp Set

I told you this was a sweet card. These walruses are from the Birthday Song stamp set from the July OnLine Exclusives. Of course that was a set on my first order. It is a super fun set with flamingos and walruses, along with the birthday song as one of the sentiments.

The walruses are stamped using Basic Gray Ink and then highlighted with Light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blend. The birds have their beaks and feet colored with Golden Glow Light Stampin Blend. And the beach is both shades of Crumb Cake. Light for the beach and Dark for the rocks. To give some highlight to the area, I used the Light Pool Party as a type of shadow, or highlight, around the walruses. Plus it adds a great bit of color. The sentiment is two separate stamps that I stamped with Secret Sea Ink. The photopolymer stamps make it very easy to line up the two together.

Papers

There is no DSP on today’s card. That is a rarity for me but happens occasionally. I did use Thick Basic White cardstock for the card base. Then regular weight Basic White for the stamping layer. For the highlight I used Pool Party to draw out the shadowed area I created with the Pool Party Stampin’ Blend.

Extras

Today’s card has only one extra. Other than raising the layers from the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals for more depth, I add a trio of embellishments. These are the Array of Dots. They are in the current May – August Catalog. I was thrilled to find some embellishments in Pool Party. Since there was a trio of sizes in the multi colors pack, I opted to do one of each size in a neat line. This gives a little cleaner look than scattering them around like I tend to do.
