Rustic Home

I have used the Humble Home Bundle several times and love it more each time. It is great for simple and for layers. Today’s card is more layers, but is still extremely simple to do.

Stampin' Up!, humble home, stylish shapes dies, crumb cake, pool party, country woods , jackie beers

STAMPS and PUNCH BUNDLE

This house is different than the previous ones I have created using the Humble Home Bundle. I now really like the look of the brick for the house. Adding the roof was very easy since these are photopolymer stamps. I will say holding onto the windows and door can be tricky! They are really small! My trusty Take Your Pick tool with the putty end was a lifesaver! And since I am still on the Christmas card kick, I had to use the wreath from the set to highlight the eaves of the house. The house is punched using the bundle punch. And then raised using Stampin’ Dimensionals to give it depth.

PAPERS

The Country Woods Designer Series Paper from the Annual Catalog may be a surprise on a Christmas card. But for this more rustic one, it works perfectly. Plus it has the colors I wanted. I based all of the colors, except the wreath, from the wood look DSP piece.

The card base is Crumb Cake, which is always a good rustic starting point. Then I pulled the darker brown from the paper that I used on the roof line of the house. The house itself is Pecan Pie, and is in the paper if you really look. Then I went back to Crumb Cake for the “window” layer. I did not like the look of placing the house directly against the wood paper. So I pulled out a piece of Pool Party and add it behind the “window”. That seems a much better look to me. The pool party is also the sentiment layer just to tie things together.

EXTRAS

The most important part of this card is the “window”. I used the Stylish Shapes Dies for this. The stitching left around the window is an added bonus. Plus the square that gets cut out has the same stitching for a future project. I believe the square Die used is the next to largest one.

To give a bit of emphasis to the window, I added a Bakers Twine bow. This is the darkest of browns included in the Essentials Bakers Twine multi pack. To give it a little more oomph, I made it a double bow. It is not big, but adds to the card in my book.

For the bling, I wanted rustic again. I ended up with a retired product. Sorry!! I added one of the Speckled Dots in the Pecan Pie down on the sentiment. Speaking of retired….I did not realize that the Horse & Sleigh had retired from Online Exclusives. My apologies. The sentiment used is from that set.

BONUS

There is a bonus for you today. I used this card in a class over the weekend and made a pdf for it. Hopefully it is clear enough to be helpful to you. If you would like to view / print it. Click Here

Angled Sentiment Card

The card I have to share with you today is a quick and easy one. I saw a similar one on Pinterest and had to figure it out. And now it is a favorite of mine. I hope you like it as well.

Stampin' Up!, Peaceful Season, Reindeer Days, garden green, granny apple green, jackie beers

STAMPS

This gorgeous scripted Christmas is from the Peaceful Season stamp set. It is a sentiment only set. There are words to pair with the large Christmas, as well as other sentiments. I chose to use the smaller Merry for the companion. The inside sentiment is also from the stamp set, but not shown.

PAPERS

The gorgeous plaid DSP is the stand out of this card. It is from the Reindeer Days Designer Series Paper package. From it I pulled the card base of Garden Green and the layer of Granny Apple Green. Plus the Granny Apple Green is the ink.

EXTRAS

The only extra on this card is the Rhinestone that I colored with the Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends. That is a much darker color to give more richness to match the red of the plaid.

I do have simple directions for this card. Or at least the angle cut section. The Basic White base beneath the DSP is 3 1/2 X 4 3/4. The width is what designates the size of the DSP. The DSP is 3 1/2 square. Then it is cut on the angle using the paper trimmer. I used removeable tape to place the two DSP pieces flush on the top and bottom. That only leaves the opening to stamp where White is showing. Stamp your sentiment, and then add Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the two DSP pieces. How simple is this!!! I see these with any occasion and beautiful papers to match the occasion.

Painted Christmas

I am still trying out different stamps and dies for more Christmas cards . This is the last one for the week. It is simple and beautiful all at the same time. The Painted Tree Embossing Folder is fabulous.

Stampin' Up!, painted tree, merriest trees, greetings of the season, take a bow, mossy meadow, real red, jackie beers

THE STAR

The star of this card is the background design. That is unusual for me to say. But the trees are very detailed and really stand out. The background is created by using the Painted Trees 3D Embossing Folder. Once swipe through the Cut & Emboss Machine and you have a great card. And not just a layer. I could have added the sentiment directly to the embossed layer and it would have been great.

STAMPS

This beautiful tree shaped sentiment is from the Merriest Trees stamp set. The set carried over into the Annual Catalog from last year. And I am so happy. If I could have only one Christmas set, this would be it. Plus there are matching Dies that can cut a couple different size trees. But for me, the beautiful sentiment is great and the fun tree shape just puts it over into perfect.

The sentiment on the inside of the card is from the fabulous Greetings of the Season Bundle. Which is also the Die cut shape on the card front sentiment. This bundle is all sentiments and then a good number of different shapes to cut them out with. Most of the Die shapes are large enough for images as well as sentiments. The stitching around the edge of the shape is a wonderful bonus. I also stamped one of the trees from the Merriest Trees set in Soft Sea Foam to highlight the inside. Here is a photo of the inside.

PAPERS

The card base as well as the embossed layer are Mossy Meadow card stock. To match the DSP I added a layer of Real Red to separate the two Mossy Meadows and to also highlight the DSP. This fun banner of DSP is from the Take A Bow Designer Series Paper. This package of papers is a 6X6 pack and the banner is 2X4. So you can actually get 4 banners from one sheet since it is not a directional pattern. Cut the 6X6 to 6X4 and then cut three banners. Then use the 2X6 you cut off and make it the 4th one. This is one reason I love non directional papers.

EXTRAS

To give the banner an added touch, I used the Real Red and White Baker’s Twine to tie a little bow. This serves two purposes. It covers the hole in the tag, and it appears to tie the two pieces together. For the bling, and there must be bling, I have scattered a few of the Iridescent Pearls around the embossed trees. They mimic the polka dots, or snow, on the DSP.

Home for Holidays

My card for today is still in the Christmas Theme. But is a very soft one. With a change of sentiment it could be a new home, welcome home, etc. The Humble Home Bundle is a great one.

Stampin' Up!, humble home, season of elegance, framed and festive, boho blue, pearls, jackie beers

STAMPS

The sweet house used here is part of the Humble Home Bundle. This is a Punch Bundle. The house I used is a single stamp that is colored with Stampin’ Blends and then punched out. There is also stamps to build your own brick house. Or you could simple punch out a white, or any color, house and then add details to it. I love punch bundles and as soon as I saw this one I knew it had to come to me. This is perfect for quick cards.

The sweet little Merry Christmas is from a retired set Framed and Festive from last year. Sadly I thought it was still available, I apologize! But, the included Merry Christmas in the Humble Home set looks exactly the same. However it is with the Merry above the Christmas. That arrangement would be fine. Or you could mask it and stamp it as I have mine.

PAPERS

The beautiful DSP is from the same package as yesterday’s card. This is from the Season of Elegance Specialty Designer Series Paper. I wanted a “soft” Christmas card and this fit the bill perfectly. To keep that going, I went with Boho Blue as the card base and the trim on the house. When I was punching out the house, I saw the heart shape on the punch. And I knew it was the perfect accent for the card, as well as matching the sentiment. So both of those are in Real Red. The thin Basic White layer is a separation of the DSP and the Boho Blue, But also to match the sentiment strip.

EXTRAS

This is surprising, but once again there is very little bling. I consider the red heart bling, as it really pops on the card. However I did add a pearl even if it is very subtle. I colored a regular pearl with the Wild Wheat Stampin’ Blends to make it gold looking. It is added as a doorknob on the house door. Sometimes I surprise myself. LOL!!

Peace

The card I have to share today continues my Christmas theme of the week. This one is one of the stamp sets without matching Dies. But it is fabulous for very layered cards, or an easy one as I have made.

Stampin' Up!, yuletide village, peaceful season, season of elegance, gold foil, wild wehat, mossy meadow, church, jackie beers

STAMPS

This lovely church image is from the sweet Yuletide Village stamp set. As I said above, it does not have matching Dies. However there are a couple of additional “village” buildings to go along with the church. Plus they are not very difficult to fussy cut if you wanted. I chose to stamp the image with Basic Gray for a little softer background to the coloring. Stampin’ Blends were used to color the image. All of those are listed in the Supply List at the bottom of the post.

The short and sweet sentiment is from the Peaceful Season stamp set. It is stamped using Wild Wheat Ink which is my “gold substitute” ink of choice. This set is only sentiments. And there are a great variety of small, large, and everything in between. Additionally there are great ones for inside the card. It is a fun mix and match sentiment set.

PAPERS

The gorgeous DSP layer is from the Season of Elegance Specialty Designer Series Paper pack. There are a couple of different color gold flecked sheets in this package. And they all are just as beautiful as this one. I pulled the Mossy Meadow from the DSP for the card base. For the thin layer I went with Wild Wheat. I really love this paper as a gold substitute. The paper and the ink have a gold cast to them. Especially when placed close to gold.

There is a touch of gold included on the card. I added a circle, actually a half circle, of the Gold Foil behind the church circle as a highlight. A very simple way to add extra detail.

EXTRAS

There is no bling on this card! That is shocking I know. But with all of the gold it really wasn’t necessary. The Extra of product is the 2 3/8″ Circle Punch. This was used for both the church and the background gold circle. It was a perfect size for the church image. The fact it cuts off a bit of the edge of the church and the tree is ok with me. It makes it look like you are looking through a camera or knothole. My imagination can be silly! I mentioned using only half of the gold circle. I made a couple of these cards and realized that the majority of the gold was hidden. So I cut it in half and saved the precious Gold Foil sheets.

Festive Ornament

The card I have today is an Ornament card. Not really one you can hang on your tree. Just a pretty one that I created. And I hope one you will create as well. Plus it probably could be made into an ornament or a gift tag very easily.

Stampin' Up!, festive words, spotlight on nature, frosted forest, mossy meadow, real red, crushed curry, gold dots, jackie beers, Christmas ornament, Christmas card, word Christmas tree

STAMPS

The focal point of this card is of course the ornament. But the star of that is the adorable tree. This tree, with it’s perfect message, is from the Festive Words stamp set. The set has four images that are all similar to this. Simple outlines with appropriate words inside of them.

To create my tree I used Stampin’ Write Markers with the “direct to rubber” technique. This simply means you use the markers to color the red rubber stamp. It does take a minute, and you have to be careful to not mess up the tips on your markers. But ones you get the hang of it , it goes pretty quickly. This is a very old technique. It is probably the first one I learned when I began stamping many years ago. The Stampin’ Write Markers are only sold as a color family now. The ones I used are Mossy Meadow, Crushed Curry, Real Red, and then Early Espresso for the tree trunk.

The background watermark looking image on the card base is a small tree. I did not want to leave the base blank since the only details were in the ornament layers. This little tree is from the Frosted Forest stamp set. It is one of the Online Exclusives. It is stamped tone on tone all over the base.

PAPERS

The fact there is no designer paper on this card is a rarity. I wanted the ornament to be the star. So the card base is Mossy Meadow, like the tree would be. The large outer layer of the ornament is Crushed Curry for a rich gold look. And then the Basic White layer with the stamped image.

EXTRAS

To say the Dies used are extras is letting them down somewhat. The Spotlight On Nature Dies are one of the most popular in quite a while. I used two different of the designs and sizes to create the ornament. Those little decorative detail touches really add quite a lot for the ornament.

The little bow is from Real Red ribbon. The one I used is retired. But there are new ones available that I have not received yet. I am sure you have some red ribbon in your stash! And the final touch is always bling. My bling today is the Gold Textured Adhesive Back Dots from the Mini Catalog. They fit perfectly to highlight the Crushed Curry background layer.
